New York #Jets LOSE 23-10 To #Ravens REACTION (FULL BADLANDS)
What’s up everybody? Welcome back to your favorite New York Jets subscription podcast. I’m your host Joe Caparoso joined as always by Connor Rogers Postgame Therapy. We’re back yet again. The ninth loss of the season CR. It’s another losing season. I kind of lost my voice from yelling about it so much. That’s that’s not actually what happened. Unfortunately, this is the part of having three kids under seven that happens around Thanksgiving. But Connor, how you doing? How you feeling? I’m good, man. it. You know, it was one of those weird days where after the game and then really after our show on SMY postgame when I was heading home, I was sitting on the train and I was kind of like, am I just like was I too easy on it? Like am I just w like have I gone to acceptance, right? Because if you just handed somebody the score, the Jets score 10 points, they lose by double digits again. But but I just did not have a feeling with this game that it was an embarrassment or that there was all of these different things they could have done from a coaching standpoint, which has been a problem this year. It didn’t feel like a lot of those games. It just felt like unsurprisingly as the game went into quarter three and quarter four, they were just outmatched a little bit on the road. It’s, you know, you’re starting a guy that is a backup quarterback for a reason right now who was fine today. I mean, not spectacular, but totally adequate. And we’ll get into, you know, the things you see with the offense when you have a competent passer. Um, the defense punched above their weight for the first half, but eventually just, you know, not only talent issues, but a lot of young players out there. They’re not the most creative scheme. They don’t create a lot of turnovers. It it’s one of those games where I wasn’t angry after. I wasn’t going through all these different scenarios of what they could have done differently. I know people are going to probably kill Glenn this week for going for it in their own territory in the second half. I in the moment I didn’t feel that way. I don’t love their personnel packages when they’re in those third and and we’re going for it situations on fourth. I don’t really think they’ve mastered that yet, obviously. But yeah, Joe, I don’t I’m curious how you felt. I just didn’t walk away from this game um feeling overly negative. If anything, you got some nice pops from young players that you think can be a part of this turnaround while still losing on a critical draft order day. Yeah. I mean, look, it it’s not dissimilar from the Pats game where you’re double- digit underdogs on the road. You’re winning at halftime. You’re in the game late. If Bree Hall doesn’t fumble falling into the end zone, it’s a three-point game with a few minutes left. So, from a talent discrepancy standpoint to be showing up and being right there, this isn’t the same team we saw against Miami and Dallas. No, it’s a very different team now. Now, low bar to clear. I don’t want to be giving Gatorade bass for passing that bar, but they needed improvement. Yes. and they they are playing hard for this coaching staff. And there were some technical things they got wrong in this game which we could get into. Le let’s get rid of the Isaiah Davis handoff on third down. Let’s keep Bree Hall on the field on third and fourth down a little more. Uh in spite of the fumble, but I I agree. I was like, you know what, there are people thought they were going to lose this game what 3536. A lot of people thought they were going to get the doors blown off them. You’re winning 7-3 at halftime with your backup quarterback with Tony Adams still starting at safety. My god, the la the last hold over of the guy who just can’t play anymore. So, and he’s just on camera 70% of the game. He is. He is. And he’s celebrating. He’s getting called for penalties. The the two guys the two guys who stuck out to me on defense today in a bad way. Adams, Sherwood, make the sack on Lamar, don’t get the penalty. And that along with going for it kind of felt like the swings in the game more so than the Breeze fumble, but that’s kind of been the thing all year. We know they need a new safety. I watch this and I’m like, man, you got to find a way to fix the Sherwood Quincy mistake. I know Quincy’s a little older, but he just looks night and day since he got benched, and Sherwood does not. The light doesn’t seem like it’s going on in this defense. So, let’s start with the defense who played their best half of the season in the first half. What did you like? What didn’t you like? Well, number one, I I continue to really like Jawan Briggs a lot. Is he a perfect player? No. But Muji’s trades around the margins look like one of his strengths as a GM. We’ve been critical of him when it warrants being critical. Tyler Tyler Baron inactive today. Aren Smith is what they’re like seventh best receiver now. Yeah. But he deserves praise for making some savvy trades. Harrison Phillips to me, there’s just no world where I’m cutting him this offseason. I don’t care what the cap situation is. He’s an absolute dog in the interior of the defensive line that helps, you know, eat up bodies. Briggs has a little bit of pep in his step as a rusher. I didn’t expect I knew he was a stout, strong player that can continue to grow as a run defender, but he’s got a little juice as an interior rusher. I think that I like the way Aaria Thomas plays. It’s not always going to be pretty because in this league he’s going to get called for although the funniest part was the pass interference they called on him. His face mask almost got ripped off his helmet. He didn’t initiate the contact. That was one of the worst calls of the NFL season. I I didn’t love I didn’t love the officiating today. I hate to be that guy, but it’s awful every week in every game. It it truly is like Sims and I talk every week how the officiating is at its worst. And when I say it’s one of the worst calls of the season, the stakes were so low because it’s Jets Ravens. Jets are double- digit underdogs and but and it was the beginning of the game, but to have a player get blatantly ripped at his face mask and you call pass interference on him, it just pisses you off when you’re sitting there. So, I like the way Thomas plays. I like Brownley’s energy even for his flaws. I need to watch the overhead of the all 22. You and I were recording this pretty shortly after the game where I haven’t watched the all 22 yet, but um I’m curious to see kind of besides Tony Adams, the rest of the DBs how they played. Yeah, I wish Germaine and Will weren’t so hot and cold this season. It feels like even when they got chances to rush in this game and Lamar’s going to get away and to be fair to them, they were very clearly coached in this game. Don’t over rush. Be very careful with your rush lanes. So that played into it a little bit as well. They wanted to keep Lamar in the pocket and contain him and they did a pretty good job of that. But yeah, on the defensive side, you know, Wilks doesn’t do anything creative, so that’s always going to stop them from getting these these, you know, explosive plays or turnovers on defense. But yeah, I I like some of the nucleus that’s here now. I I whether it’s Briggs, whether it’s Phillips, whether it’s Aarier, um I’m with you. They have a massive issue at linebacker right now. I I will be very surprised if they retain Quincy. I don’t know. I don’t get the sense he wants to stay and now money changes everything, but I also don’t get the sense they’re allocating more money into linebacker with him. It feels like they need a harsh makeover at linebacker this off seasonason. I actually like the linebacker free agency class. Leo Chanel would be one that really fits this scheme from the Chiefs, but and there’s a couple guys that fit really well. We’ll have those conversations for free agency. I I just for Sherwood’s a bad fit in this defense, but even worse, I think he’s just a bad player this year. I It’s like I don’t like getting on a microphone and ever saying that about guys in the NFL. It’s It’s not a fun part of the job. There’s almost really nothing redeeming about his season right now. He got paid. Um, they were in a really weird spot because you don’t fully know a player when you’re a new regime, but I think they wanted to keep a young player at a position that matters a lot to them. They I don’t think this regime really wants their linebackers to be small, but they thought he could be the one outlier. He plays small. He is small. You said it. He doesn’t tackle. He’s not that fast. He’s not anticipating and playing with the instincts that he was when he earned that contract. And he earned that contract. But he did. He did. It’s I if they let if Quincy leaves and Quincy has the right to do that and I would assume he would want to I I don’t there’s no way you could even if you draft a guy in the first three rounds and sit him play him next to Sherwood. Sherwood’s just a detriment to the defense right now. And yeah, they’re going to have to get really creative this off seasonason to fix the middle of the field because that they’re exposed quite often um with the middle of the field. Like I said, I still want to watch the tape because I thought they were hitting in the run game today. So maybe the linebacker, you know, and I I think Quincy’s been good this year. Maybe Sherwood did some good things in the run, but on the broadcast view and really talking about his season at large, it’s a weakness for them right now. Yeah, it’s a position that has to be totally remade. They need some size. They they want to play different at linebacker than Salad did. And you got you got to retool it and use free agency and use the draft. Now, offensively, we we spent a lot of time talking about AD Mitchell this week, but it was Mchi again. believe he finished with five or six catches, 65 yards, got into the end zone again. He He’s giving me some like real prime Jeremy Curley vibes, which warmed my heart and make me happy. And this is a guy I mean, you tell me the scouting report come Alabama. Like I I remember watching him in college and he was awesome and he he’s went through a lot, but he looks so smooth and comfortable and the Jets just haven’t had a player like that since Curley or Crowder to compliment Garrett Mitchell. You could see the talent bursting at the seams, but you could also see the like double catching and he’s like just like it’s like a little off. But it was a worthwhile dart throw. But talk to me more about the MMO on Mechi coming out of school and could he be your slot receiver next year because he certainly looks the part so far. Well, I’ll answer the last part first. The answer is definitively yes, he can. And I I was doing some digging into the status of both him and I think it’s Briggs as well. They’re both restricted free agents, so the Jets could just tender them and they’ll have both of them back. Um Mitchell is under contract, so you don’t have to worry about that, as is Brownley, but I’m pretty sure Briggs and and Miy would require tenders, which is fine. This doesn’t cost much of anything. Matchi is it’s very important to re to re to run back his history as a player because it’s why I’m more optimistic than is this just a guy on a garbage time kind of team and it’s it’s not like his production has been in you know the points of the game where the game really still matters. Yep. Mechi, let’s not forget a couple years ago at Alabama was a first round wide receiver prospect all the way. his final year, almost 100 catches, over,00 yards, eight touchdowns. He tears his ACL, I believe, in the SEC championship. So, he doesn’t get to play in the playoff. And typically an ACL tear like that will drop a player, you know, about a round. He goes to the second round, 44th pick, so top 50 pick still. But without the ACL tear, he’s a first round pick because he’s a good route runner. He’s got good hands and he’s twitchy. You can see the short area quickness and a guy another guy like really fits their DNA like personality that’s just very into the game and very intense but also you know humble and he so he goes 44 the Texans and the guy gets to the facility and in July right before camp’s really kicking off he’s diagnosed with cancer and fortunately it was a a curable form of cancer but it cost him his entire season. Think about rehabbing from December for an ACL and then you get to camp that it just cost you a round in the draft and you’re diagnosed with cancer. So that’s going to cost you your rookie season. And then I I can’t even speak to like I can’t even begin to fathom missing football for what 18 months from an ACL tear and cancer. So he wasn’t he wasn’t going to cut. The fact that he even ever came back is unfathomable. So he makes it back. The Texans needed to not bank on him anymore. Their receiver room got really, really crowded. So he kind of falls into the, you know, into the muck there of like just a guy on the back end of the roster. Gets traded to the Eagles. Kind of the same thing. It’s just a depth guy with the receiving talent they have. And the Jets are like, “Let’s see if John Mechy can refine John Mechy from Alabama form. He is obviously healthy. He is obviously confident in himself. The route running looks good. He’s catching the ball. He’s getting an opportunity. And sometimes there’s something to be said about a guy where it’s all been taken away from them. Forget about football being taken away from him for so long. But, you know, just how fragile life is. And I think that uh obviously he’s one of my favorite players to root for in the entire NFL because of everything he’s been through. And now that he’s doing it with the Jets is very cool to watch. And it is very real. Like you you watch the routes, you watch the ability to finish plays, you see the juice with the ball in his hands. I mean, is there a world next year where the Jets go into camp and they say, “Okay, Garrett Wilson’s our number one. We like to move him around the formation. We drafted a bigger wide receiver to be our future number two. We’ll pencil in Carnell Tate now for fun.” Yep. And then John Mechy is our number three that can play the slot. Adai Mitchell is a stretch four, a vertical threat number four and then whatever we’ll say for now like Aaron Smith’s developing as a number five which is how things always should have been. So it just looks so much more promising that quickly. It it’s really exciting to see cuz it’s you could see the route running and how precise he is. You also hear how the guys around the locker room talk about him. Yeah, they really like him. It just feels like such a net positive addition. Also, I was chuckling a little bit when you were talking about the Eagles because uh Joey Douglas added Xavier Gibson to return punts for them and good lord, believe it or not, he fumbled a punt today and lost in the game. Who could who could have saw that coming? Um elsewhere on the offense, Bree Hall, I listen, fumbles are not acceptable. You have to protect the football. That being said, Bree Hall is a different player since halftime of the Bengals game. Oh my goodness. He He’s running harder than I’ve ever seen him run in his career. Like he the way he decleed Kyle Hamilton. He killed Kyle Hamilton. One of the best defensive players in the NFL. And the way Yes. And the way he’s getting like four yard runs on third and one now when he used to never get that. He He’s just a different player. And for God’s sake, throw him the football. How many times he had this against the Steelers last year, too. Do we have to do the you check it down and he rips it off for 65 yards? Just throw it to him three times a game because one of the three times it might happen. Then they ran the other screen to him and he picked up another 20 yards. I think he had 75 today. He He’s got to have four or five catches every game. And I get having a third down back. Isaiah Davis does not have enough juice to just keep Bree Hall on the bench every third down. We like Tanner, but you got to adapt, man. Have them both on the field if you need to. But Bree Hall, man, I he’s playing his way into a new two or three year contract, especially when you see what he could do in the passing game. That that catch and run, I don’t know, seven or eight backs in the league could do that, right? Why Why don’t you want your new veteran quarterback or rookie quarterback to have that luxury? And you don’t have anyone on the bench who’s stepping in and doing it. We like Davis, but you know, he’s a role player. He’s going to run for 200 yards this year and have 10 catches. So, I I know the fumble killed them. I don’t think they win the game even if they score a touchdown there. To be honest, I I remain very encouraged by Bree and I think you got to be proactively looking at paying him. You you have the money to do it. I don’t know why you wouldn’t. What did you think of Bree and the rest of the offense today? Honestly, I think it’s one of the more excusable fumbles. If you if I was a coach, I’d be like he got held up by two guys and got the ball ripped out. It’s not that. And even if you think that he was trying to fight and do too much, he that’s what he had to do. He had to do like he he knew it. They talked about it after the game that I think Tyrod said something to him during the game like at some point you’re gonna have to win us this game and he tried. He was phenomenal today. And one of my biggest frustrations on film this year and this has been a problem for him throughout his career. Fields is just so late to the checkdown and it’s completely wiped out which is unfortunately one of the best aspects of the Jets offense. It’s Bree Hall in the open in open space and Tyrod is going to take those check down options and Bree is just lethal in the open field. Basically, if you have Bree one-on-one with somebody like throw him the ball cuz it’s probably better than a coin flip that he makes the guy miss or just run just runs by him. But like you said, the tough running. He was so good in pass protection. He even had a really high IQ play early in the game where Tyrod wanted to scramble and Bree ran his defender and coverage away from Tyrod and Tyrod got the free first down and slid. He’s just doing everything the right way. And yeah, he’s there’s just so much he’s so confident. He’s healthy and he trusts his legs again and he’s his upper body strength is really back. And I think that um you know the Jets are at a situation where they’re going to have to have an honest combo with Bree after the season and be like listen this is what I would do at least. I don’t know if they’ll actually do this. They should make him a contract extension offer for I would think three years with two years of guaranteed money. Yep. And be like if and make it fair. Don’t disrespect the guy. Be like if if you’re not going to accept this, the harsh reality is you’re too big a part of our program. we’re going to have to tag you. So, because that’s the leverage you have with the CBA that you’re going to say, “Here’s two years of guaranteed money or one year of guaranteed money.” And unfortunately, you don’t have a choice for you don’t have it a third option. You don’t have a let me go talk to other teams. And yep. And it’s still good money. And I think it’s more respectful to say to Bree, you’re a part of our next two to three years instead of just slapping the tag on you. if he denies a contract extension and wants to play out the tag. That’s his right to do as running backs have done. But there is no world where Breeze Hall should not be a New York Jet next year. I don’t live in that world. So, and D man, it’s a good answer to have. It’s a really good answer to have him a part of this offense because now you’re stacking chips on top of Bruce Hall and Garrett Wilson and a good offensive line. By the way, the Ravens pass rush really didn’t get anything going until the script at the end where Tyrod had these long drop backs that you had to throw. But I I was pretty encouraged once again by Titman Olu. So good, man. Meu is incredibly impressive. Um from the broadcast eye test, this was a good fashion game. Yep. As well. I mean, you’re starting to put pieces on pieces rather than just trying to put a piece on the table and keeping Breeze is obviously a a huge part of that. I don’t want to go too crazy praising the coaching staff. They’re two and nine, right? And they have to own how the season started, but I it does feel like, and I agree with this theory Paul has in our group chat, that like Glenn sat down with Bree in the middle of the year and was like, “We’re not trading you. You’re our workhorse. you’re the centerpiece of our offense and like change your attitude and be the guy. And he’s embraced it. And they kind of did the same thing with Quincy at linebacker. They did. And so you have two guys you’re now coaching back to a higher level. You have Briggs playing the best football of his career. Uh making more of an impact as a pass rusher. You’re going to get another double digit sack season from Will McDonald. You’re you have an offensive line performing to or above expectations with a first time O line coach. So, you know, and you’re also inputting new receivers every, you know, every week here. Your top two receivers weren’t on the team three weeks ago. And you’re right. You know, you’re kind of making it work. Yeah. You’re kind of making it work. So, look, this is going to drive people crazy because as it as it stands right now, I think the Jets are picking fifth, but they’re right there to be picking second because there’s only a handful of teams with two wins um after the Browns beat the Raiders. And God, you know, when you think it’s so easy just to beat the Browns, look at what the Browns did today on the road against the Raiders. It’s not easy to win in the NFL, but man, I’ll tell you, I look at the Jets next four games. Home against Atlanta, home against Miami. It’s going to be cold. It’s cold here right now. Uh at Jacksonville, who was a mess today, but still found a way to win. And then at the Saints, who were a mess today. I I think it’s going to be the ugliest month of tank wars we’ve ever seen. Cuz I think, and I’m not saying this cuz I want it. I’m just giving my honest objective opinion. I think the Jets are going to go two and two in their next four. And there’s a world they could go three and one. Of course, there’s a world they could go one and three or 0 and four. But I think they’re winning two of their next four. And I think people should just mentally wrap their head around it now. It’s something about Kirk Cousins outside on November 30th with that Atlanta team. It’s something about Tua outside in December in Metife. I I don’t know. Is that crazy? Could you see them going two and two in those four games? No. I I would I would bet on it today if I had to pick a side, right? With how they’re playing right now, like Yeah. how they’re playing. They’re the coaching the most encouraging thing right now is that the coaching staff, while not perfect, is learning from mistakes. That’s what’s I still think Wilks just has no juice. Like, I’m sorry. Schematically, defensively, they are just so underwhelming. And Angstran’s not perfect. I think people are starting to think I’m like this angst. I I think Angstrand does a lot of good things for the ingredients he has, but he has he’s trying to learn scenarios and like you said the third down runs today when you knew you’re going for it that it’s just, you know, didn’t work and but improvement and yeah, you it’s you can’t mess with that. The Jets are going to win a couple games here down the stretch. The number is probably two. Like you said, there’s some really bad football teams. It’s inexplicable though that the Giants are a two- win team because the Giants could have seven wins right now. And look, I think they’re gonna win a game or two somehow the rest of the way, too. They have to. They have to. Um, let’s look at the Giants schedule right now because that would be a big one. Can they beat the Pats for us one more one more time? Why not? So, so inevitably the Giants have to win some games because even if they don’t beat the Patriots, they should beat the Commanders. Who’s to say they don’t beat the Vikings? Who’s to say they don’t beat the Raiders? The Giants should at least win two more games, but the Titans are awful. I don’t think the Titans win three games this week. I’ll be the Titans win another game the rest of the year. No, I I couldn’t believe this week one of the funniest wagers I put in was Titans under two and a half wins was plus 105. I was like, I think they’re picking. Yeah, they’re picking first and they’re not taking one more. I’d be shocked. Maybe. Yeah, maybe. But they’re not going to win two more. Like you said, the Saints came back to reality. The Raiders are horrific. They are they are Gino man. They are one of the worst teams I’ve seen in a while. How they beat the Patriots will be studied by, you know, multiple government funded test. Um the Browns defense is just so good that they can win some games and Shadore maybe can be semicmpetent. We want Shador to play well so the Browns don’t draft a quarterback. Remember that. Here’s good news. The Browns play the Titans in Okay. Okay. So maybe that’s a fourth win for them. Once again, like inevitably these other teams are going to win some games, too. But yeah, there’s a world where the Jets are picking sixth or fifth or whatever, and we’re going to have those conversations when we get there. But you can’t sit there and just pray they get rolled over by the hapless Falcons or Saints cuz you’re going to be like, “We don’t even have the coaching staff or the locker rooms. What does it right? And and if they beat those teams, but you know, Meti has an 80 yard game and Bree has 120 scrimmage yards and the line is pitching a shut out and Thomas looks like a number two corner going into next year. Like you you’re getting some answers along the way. Not everything. This is a mistake that I made for a long time and I I think this is just something you you learn over time. It’s not going to be, “Okay, we lost out. We got the number two overall pick. We’re going to pick that player and the switch is going to flip and everything’s fine.” Getting the right quarterback can absolutely turn the wins significantly. But that’s just not how the sport of football works. Really, no sport does, but especially football. You need to start getting answers elsewhere that you find out while playing football. So, is Thomas a starter? Is Malachi Moore a starter? Is Bree Hall one of the focal points of our offense next year? Do we have two franchise tackles? How do we want to keep this interior with this cap space we have? Oh, John Mchi maybe is our number three. That’s good news. You know, our special teams looks like a top 10 unit in the NFL and we think that’s because of the coaching and us piecing together. like you getting those answers and you start to pile them all up together and then you do get a quarterback at some point then it all starts to turn. But it can’t just be like bottoming out in certain in the NBA it obviously can work and things like that and in the NHL I’m a stern believer that it works in the NFL there are situations where bottoming out can help you like the Bengals having Joe Burrow right but you can also account a lot more scenarios where it didn’t work and the teams that you know got their quarterback with the seventh overall pick or the 16th overall pick or whatever it may be uh ended up fine as well because they actually had an infrastructure of talent and coaching and everything else. So, I’m not we don’t ever tell people how to root for, but I think there’s some nuance and balance in the rest of the season as well. Yeah. And also, how could I forget uh shouting out our guy Isaiah Williams, who’s Dante Hall in his prime now. Jets coaching staff, they were right, we were wrong. This special teams unit remains excellent like every single week. Although, I don’t know what the Ravens punter is taken, but that guy was ripping like 80 yard punts today. My god, where they built that dude’s leg in a lab. I mean, if nothing else, I mean, what? I haven’t checked yet. What What’s the line? Jets Falcons next week. What’s the line? Jets Dolphins week after. Each of these games are going to be what? One or two point lines in either direction. See if we have one. Saint Saints game is probably the same. Like the expectation is going to be you’re right in these games if not winning them against those three teams. And what should we guess? I will guess the Jets are at home against the Falcons. I will guess the Falcons are one and a half point favorites. Nicely done. They are two and a half point favorites. All right. Call me up cousin Cell and Simmons. I’m getting close there. And then I would guess the look ahead on the Dolphins is I don’t know, they’re two and a half or three-point favorites depending on how next week goes. Miami is a weird team this year. Yeah. Yes. So I don’t know. It’ be nice to win a division game at some point. That feels like feels like it’s important and I that’s just me. So all right. Any final thoughts? Uh CR on our our two and nine Jets. Our two and nine heroes that we just gushed about for 30 minutes. postgame party on the 23-10 loss. It really felt that way. I know. My My kid was like, “Why do you seem so happy?” I was like, “I they played pretty good today. I’m pleasantly surprised. I didn’t I thought they were going to lose 35 to six, right? Some days like when you’re 160lb fighter going into the 190 lb arena, like you can only hold up for so long.” And I I don’t know, maybe people think that’s a loser mentality, but I think overall this is not the game to be mad about or at least I’m I’m not mad about it um right now. And and maybe it feels like they are poised to play a lot better against these teams they are evenly matched up with the next four weeks. So we’ll see where it’s going to go. We’ll regroup in the midweek show. I’m intrigued to watch this tape and see if I see kind of any diamonds in the rough or interesting notes to have for our midweek content before Thanksgiving. But um yeah, on onward and upward they say. Amen. Pre-Thanksgiving drop. I’ll be chugging the airborne. I’ll be ready to go. They have to they have to scrape me off the street not to record one of these podcasts. So, also the Colts lost today. That helps with draft positioning. Keep an eye on the Jaguars catching them. Like Will said on Saturday, they catch them. That pick looked very nice all of a sudden. So, we’re all rooting against the Colts every week. No offense sauce. I still can’t believe the Cowboys came back, but I blame Xavier Gibson. So, maybe I’m not that surprised. One last gift from Xavier Gibson, of course. Uh, all right. Thank everybody for listening and we will talk to you soon.

This team isn’t as far off as it seems. Need a QB, WR2 and some supplementary pieces on defense. All can be addressed this off-season
This is the best thing that could happen to the Jets. We need a higher pick to get our young franchise QB.
Barron was a 5th round pick and Smith was a 4th. Not exactly premium picks.
It was holding call not pass interference. The one with the facemask.
Honestly guys let’s all just check out for 6 weeks here. It’s the best for everyone. I trust Glenn, Darren, and Tanner as much as I could possibly could in our situation. Also, the draft position talk is nonsense and Fields isn’t staying around. Only his die-hards are on board for that, and he has talent so I get it but just not now. Only bad things can come from OVER analyzing any of this. This is definitely needed after 2 years of Rodgers and bad teams that were depressing. Let’s actually get better. Peace!
Ravens have more talent. We r not that far off. A new QB, another receiver, an LB, safety & defensive tackle. We will be good!
I'm psyched for Metchie!
no tanking for this team..
If Oliver didn’t have that DPI on 3rd and 16 on the Ravens opening drive of the second half changed the entire game. If that doesn’t happen, who knows. The Ravens were there to be had. Would of been a huge notch in AGs belt had the Jets pulled this off
OK, football experts
With the superb passing attack today, and all the spot on past catching the offense mustered only 10 points . 10 points in the NFL is absolutely unacceptable.
You guys are better off going back to the Justin Fields high school playbook because at least you scored more points that way
I thought the offensive playcalling in 2nd half was bad or else Taylor was changing plays.A lot of runs that should have been passes.put themselves into too many 3rd and longs
Facts I think Quincy is better than Sherwood
Hated going on the 4th down he contradicted himself saying he did it cause defense was playing well. Seems like every game we have a costly fumble or penalty and some of offensive play calling makes me scratch my head. Why do we never do any play action? Why do we never get Mason down the field I’m hoping he’s not a plodder like Kyle Brady I know he never ran at combine but get him down the seam. Jury very much out but some small progress at least I guess
How about 4 years 48 million 30 million guaranteed same like Josh Jacob's
I think we found our slot & kudos to Moog for that in-season scouting. Metchie looks legit. This year Breece learned how to be a complete back. All the injuries/bad o-line play/play calling/QB play/coaching, etc. led to a weird timeline for him. He finally got a staff telling him he needs to grind out those tough yards and be a good back even when the explosives aren't there. I'm sure it helps that he's in a contract season.
The refs kept at least two drives going for the ravens where they scored 14 points. While we couldn’t get a personal foul on late hit out of bounds? If you still think that professional sports is on the up and up in 2025, have a nice nap.
You can always tell which way the game is going based on when the officiating calls penalties to aid one team, while somehow those same penalties impede the other team. You got refs picking up flags. Phantom holding call on Tippman, conviently having cataracts on the illegal hands to the face on the Ravens WR towards
CB AZ Thomas. No call on roughing the passer on Tyrod, etc. All predictable.
The NBA, NFL are legally catatogorized as sports entertainment. Very important bcuz it allows them to control the outcome of games without breaking antitrust laws. Wake up people. Enjoy the ride. Come to grips with it like the WWE fans did over the years. Go Jets!
In regards to Metchie. Just think how mentally tough that kid must be. When you face the possibility of real death, it has a way of changing the way you look at life. You'll grow up real quick. Things that were important are not so important and vice versa. If you've gone through cancer, playing in a football game isnt too big for you, I would think. Im rooting for him.
breece, wilson, metchie, mitchell, all with a competent QB gives me hope. saw a flash of that today
Wilks put on a masterclass today, basically, and y'all can't just give him a little credit lol.
What a fall from grace for Sherwood. Thank god after next offseason we have a way to get out. No more crazy Tremaine Johnson contracts
Breece, please be more like Curtis Martin. Get every yard out of every play WITHOUT putting the ball at risk. Trying to get a TD while putting the ball at risk is not really team oriented.
So glad they didn’t trade breece hall. They would be unwatchable without him. And please stop playing Alan Lazard. I never see him do anything.
After the next 2 drafts the talent level will be DRAMATICALLY improved – Just need to make sure the coaching keeps peaking 🎉🎉🎉
We are at the we didn't lose too bad stage.😂
26:00 I’ve been saying all this for years. Bottoming out is most likely devastating and impossible to overcome. QBs will always be available to draft
I thought they gave this one away fellas. Some of the calls from Gase and Engstrand earlier in the game looked bad in the end. Breece fumble was bad too. Adams PI was brutal
What until Jets lose to Miami, and Saints by double digits. Tanner is trash, I'll say it. These QBs looking terrible because of him, better OC and this team is at least 5-6.
Speaking of Breece; definitely, he's becoming a leader on offense, more vocal, more aggressive, smarter, not satisfied with taking a backseat role anymore….i loved the play with Taylor in shotgun and a defender having a clear lane to him when Breece picked up the block perfectly to give Taylor a chance to complete a pass….Breece is doing everything and while the fumble killed us you can see the teammates making a point to come up to him and try and pick him up….we need to keep him here.
What the hell are you guys talking about we got embarrassed today like we have every other game this sucks this coaching staff sucks everyone who's a Jets fan should be fucking furious
The most promising thing for me watching this team is free agents and rookies are beginning to 'make plays', Meche, AZ thomas, Briggs, A Williams, etc. These guys are are becoming playmakers and once we get more of those type of players in the FAgency and in the draft that's when you'll see the franchise turn, first to consistently competitive and later to a winning team…. and the coaches will also learn by winning and finishing games.
10pts blame Fields wait he didn’t play lol
