Tell her friends just to keep the ball moving. Like the page if you feeling the movement. Every game we coming to win. Give us a sub like a player that came off the bench. This is NBK. Nothing but Nicks. Nicks family. What’s popping? It’s your boy. Oh, ladies and gentlemen, I don’t know, man. We take another loss to the Orlando Magic. A convincing loss to the Orlando Magic, ladies and gentlemen. A convincing loss. It’s not like it was Well, of course, we had a lead in the first half, but second half we disappeared. I mean, this was another convincing win by the Orlando Magic over the New York Knicks. And ladies and gentlemen, once again, they were more physical. They were more aggressive in that second half. It’s like they know that if they play this style, we can’t match up with it. I don’t want to hear anything about OG being out because Bunk Carol was out. I know Landry Shammit was out. We’re going to talk about that. I feel bad for the brother, man, because he’s been having a good season. We’ll see if he comes back. But damn, y’all. Damn. another loss on the road and another team out muscled us, played more physical than us, played more aggressive than us. And you heard Clyde say it. The game was physical and that is Orlando’s game. That’s their style. That’s what they do. That’s not us. We struggle with teams like that. And that bothers me because Detroit, who right now has the best record in the Eastern Conference, is one of those physical teams, one of those aggressive teams. We got to figure that out. We’ve got to figure that out, ladies and gentlemen. There’s no doubt about it. Doulis had another poor defensive effort. Yeah, another poor defensive effort. You know, that’s I mean, ah, I don’t even know what to say to that because defense, you know, defense has got to be your calling card. Defense is the way that you got to get it. And we’re not a good defensive team. When it matters, it seems when we have to play defense to win a basketball game, to get back into a game, we can’t do it. And if our if our offense isn’t clicking, we can’t do it. And the problem when you play aggressive teams, defensive oriented teams, is your offense might not click. And if your offense don’t click, you don’t win with this basketball team. You dig what I’m saying? So, it’s a struggle. It’s a struggle. It’s a struggle, you know, early season wolves. I’m going to continue to say that because it’s early season still, you know, but you know, we’re getting to that point where, you know, you’re almost 20 games in and you know what they say about 20 games in. When you get to 20 games in, you know, you you start to figure this is your team. But I know we’ve dealt with some injuries and stuff like that, right? So, I still have to believe that it’s early season woes because of the Mike Brown factor. Because it’s a new system, not because of Mike Brown, because it’s a new system. You understand what I’m saying? Let me get to a phone call. I got my guy JJ on the line. I know he got some thoughts. JJ, what’s popping with you, brother? How are you feeling after this one? Uh, disgusted to be honest, man. Uh, I’m freaking aggravated, you know. Uh, honked again straight up, you know. Uh, so Mitchell Robinson, I know he’s loved, you know, by Nick fans. How many points did he give up tonight? Inside, I felt like that was their game plan. Inside, we’re going at him. We’re scoring on him. Outside, forget it. He got abused every second he was out there. I mean abused. I’ve never seen someone give up that many points in 15 minutes of game action. That was pitiful, man. That was pitiful. You know, one of one of the things though, JJ, is Yeah. I mean, it’s not just I mean, Mitch, I mean, they were killing us inside, you know, you know, figuring out ways to get to the basket, slicing to the basket, especially in that second half, right? They were getting inside back door cuts. Oh yeah. You know, there’s so many different play actions that they used to penetrate to the basket, you know, and and we couldn’t stop it because they fig they they figured out ways to bring our defenders away from the basket. And now the basket is open because they brought our defenders away from the basket. Yeah. And even at the basket, even at the basket, Mitchell Robinson, all here is rim protection. He hasn’t protected since he’s been back. He has not protected the rim at all. He’s getting scored on more times than he’s actually protecting the rim. It’s not there. Not right now. Well, you know, I mean, but but remember, they’re bringing him away from the basket. Well, tonight and when teams figure out what, you know, a lot of teams have a lot of teams have shooting big men and I see size n said, “No, Simmit was Mitch.” A lot of teams have shooting big men, right? So if you have a shooting big man and you got Mitchell Robinson in the game, he now has to come out on the perimeter, right? If he has to come out on the perimeter to guard that guy and I’m and it doesn’t have to be out by the three-point line. It can be, you know, five feet outside the box, but then right, you got actions on the other side. He has to, you know, he may not have to uh u stay attached to him. He can lean a little bit into the paint, but he can’t just stand in the paint. Right now, he got axes on the on the other side. He’s got to rotate over to help, and it could be a struggle. You know what I’m saying? So, you know, if when teams scout you and they figure out ways to pull your best players to to to attack your best players in different ways and and I don’t mean just offensively, but uh you know, with the ball, but like with Mitchell Robinson, okay, how they how are they going to attack him? We’re going to attack him by getting him away from the basket. He’s a rebounder. He’s a shot blocker. Let’s get him away from the basket. You know what I mean? Yeah. You know, size n said that’s not what happened. I mean, this there’s going to be moments when he got Yes, he got beat. There were times when he got beat. I I understand. Beat at the rim. He’s getting beat at the rim a lot. A lot. I mean, you know, I mean, not just the perimeter defense. Protection is not there. It’s not. Yeah. I’m trying to defend him. I mean, it’s not just him. because I’m trying to defend him because like you said, it’s not just him. Uh and yeah, you know, for the most part, Mitch is good, you know, um he did get beat off the dribble, you know, but but it’s not just him that’s that it’s it’s not just him. So, I mean, I agree with you. I I definitely agree with you. you know, I’m trying to defend him in in ways that uh he can, you know, he’ll get beat. Maybe not protecting the rim, you know, uh he’s not going to be on point every single night. And this is where you got to have a team type of a defense. You know what I’m saying? But Orlando guarding Vagner, why why is he guard I agree. He shouldn’t be guarding Vagner. Come on, man. Right. Because Vagner can go off the dribble. Vagner can shoot the ball from the outside. You know what I’m saying? I mean, yeah, that’s, you know, it’s it’s really, but the way that Orlando was able to pull the defense away from the basket so that they’re able to get these back door cuts is part of it was a huge part of the problem and it’s pulling Mitch away too. Mitch is not a perimeter guy and Mitch is not a guy that’s going to be guarding you at the elbow that much. And so when they have guys that can play those positions and Mitch has to guard them, it’s going to be struggle. It’s going to be trouble. It’s going to be trouble. Yeah. You know. Yeah. So, I mean, listen, we better hope we don’t play this team in the playoffs. That’s it. That’s all I could say right now. Well, I mean, hey, listen, you know, uh, just because they beat us now doesn’t mean that it would happen in the playoffs. Yeah. Right. We seen that last year. Yeah. Right. We seen that last year. We I wouldn’t feel comfortable. Neither would I. You wouldn’t feel comfortable, right? Neither would I. I would not. Not at all. Yeah. I’d be a little nervous about it. Mhm. You know, uh, you know, way too many. Way, way, way too many layups. Way too many layups. Real King said, “I’m still in denial.” What am I in denial about? That is he saying I’m in denial that we’re not a championship level team. I The facts are we still have to grow. You know, I’m I’m not going to Listen, I didn’t come in I didn’t come in saying that, oh, it was championship or bust. We had a whole discussion about this two nights ago. I didn’t come in saying we’re championship or bust. You know what I’m saying? That wasn’t me. My my thought process is we we we should definitely be in Eastern Conference final Eastern Conference finalist. We should get to game seven. That’s where we were last year. That’s what I expect to do this year. I didn’t expect us, you know, I’m not saying we got to be it’s it’s not championship a bus for me. You know what I’m saying? Um I disagree. I think you got to make the finals a bus. I get it. I understand. Size N said for me to watch uh from the 925 mark. Okay, I get that. You know, listen, I understand there are times that Mitch’s Mitch was exploited, but still, it’s the schemes that Orlando used because they know what his skill set is. This is what I’m trying to get across, size, they know what his skill set is. So, it’s the schemes that they used to put him in positions that it was hard for him to defend. You know what I’m saying? Yeah. You know, that’s that’s that’s I just don’t get I I just don’t get the co like Mike Brown. You thought that was a good idea to put Mitchell Robinson on on Wagner? In what world is that a good idea? I don’t like I don’t understand that. I can’t even blame Mitch for that because he has no chance. He’s not quick enough. Yeah. You know, like that that made zero sense, man. Zero. He got abused inside, outside, ming everywhere. I feel like that was their game plan. Wherever Mitch is, that’s where we’re going. In the paint, outside the paint, and it worked every time. Well, be because he’s guarding people, like you said, he’s guarding people that he’s not a perimeter defender. And if you got perimeter oriented big men, he’s going to struggle, right? Yeah. You know, he’s going to struggle even if they’re inside. Even if they’re inside, they have this type of footwork that he’s going to struggle with, right? Exactly. Right. You understand what I’m saying? You know, and guys like that have that type of footwork and can, you know, small small fadeaway midies and and things like that that make it tough for Mitch. Yeah. And it wasn’t just him. I thought Bronson was atrocious defensive. I thought he was awful. I thought Cat was horrendous. So, I’m not just skill Mitch, but he was a big issue, but the others were much better. I thought Bridg’s three-point defense was terrible. I didn’t think any I don’t think there was one person that was good defensively to be honest. I didn’t see it. No, I especially want Especially in the second half. But you said you don’t want to hear what? I didn’t see anyone that played good defense on this team today. No, especially in the second half. I mean, they were, you know, at the basket. They were they just out toughed us all the way around in the second half. make fights, you know, that’s just not the matchup for this current roster. Yeah. You know, you know, and I mean, the Knicks have one win on the road this season. One win. And we barely got that win. Oh, yeah. Oh, I heard that was so gritty. Oh, yeah. I That was nice grit tonight, wasn’t it? Yeah. We barely got that win. I asked Tony about that. that I asked him was he concerned that oh yeah, we got the win, but it we barely got the win and it was really it was it was really Dallas who maybe even gave us the win. You know what I’m saying? Um Yeah. Are you concerned? Are are are you really are you really concerned? Am I about what? Like them reaching expectations like Yeah. What? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Definitely. No. No. I’m not saying, “Oh, if we play Orlando, it’s over. We don’t have a chance.” No, I wouldn’t be shocked if either way. I think it would be like a coin flip to me. Like right now, it’s definitely a long series, you know. I think it’s Yeah, I think it’s 5050 if we would beat that. There’s a lot of teams I’m worried about. Detroit, even Miami, you know, there there’s good teams in the East. We haven’t we haven’t played Detroit, but I’m worried about Detroit. Yeah, you got to be. I’m definitely worried about him, even though we haven’t played him. Yeah. I mean, look, look what their big man’s doing. Jaylen Duran. He’s becoming a superstar in front of our eyes. I mean, he’s that’s a grown man at 21 years old. I mean, oh my god. Are you serious? And we traded him, by the way. I know. I know. But we traded him. We did. We wouldn’t have Brunson without it, though. We probably wouldn’t have Brunson without it. We do got to We do got to recognize that. Find another way to create Cap Room than training Ke Well, to me, the whole thing was Kemell Walker. That was That was the mistake that we gave him a big contract and we had a we basically traded that pick so someone would take Kemba’s contract. That’s what it was. Exactly. Exactly. That’s true. That’s true. So stupid. That’s the truth. Stupid on the Knicks part for ever giving him that contract. That’s what you get. You gave up a franchise center. Smart. Smart. You know, I’m I’m I’m worried about I’m worried I’m really worried about the the grit and toughness of this team. That’s what that’s the thing that worries me the most. 100%. That that worries me the most. the grit and the toughness of this basketball team. When we face gritty teams, defensive-minded teams, we fold. Yeah. Right. You know, and um No, no argument here. I’m I’m I’m I’m really concerned about that because Yeah. you know, uh, the more we fold to these basketball teams, the more teams around the league see it and say they can’t they can’t beat those guys, right? the more they see it and say they can’t play that type of game, you know, and and it’ll be a problem because now every team we play is going to say, “Ah, just playing physical, just be aggressive, right?” You know, they’re actually soft. They’re not really that tough, right? you know, and and I don’t know, starting to smell like it’s a recipe for disaster for us in certain ways, you know. I I I don’t know what to do because that toughness, you know, I don’t know. I don’t know. You can’t manufacture it, you know? So, if we don’t have it, then it’s like, well, we just don’t have it. But if it’s something that But but I don’t know. We at least got to figure out how to play against it and be successful. And I’m I’m just worried that’s not happening with us. I don’t know. I don’t even know what else to say. I mean, again, the three-point defense. I mean, they’re not even a good three-point shooting team. What? They shoot 40% from three. I mean, it’s every game. They shot, let’s see, it’s got to be around 40. They shot 39.4%. Yeah, there you go. 39.4%. And even though I don’t want to hear the OG thing because we were our defense was terrible with OG. Teams were shooting 43% from three every game. So, it’s it’s bigger than this. It’s bigger than No OG. Bigger than that. What is it? I mean, listen, this deep this three-point shooting thing has been even since Tom Tibido, right? Yeah. That’s been that’s been, you know, that that was something we cried and complained about. The three-point shooting. I mean, not the three-point shooting, but the three-point defense. The defense. I I have I have a theory. I don’t know if you agree, but I’ll just say I think part of it to me is when you’re a lot of three-point defense is about rotation. You know, you know, players rotating and I think when you have a lack of athletes, I think it makes it harder and I don’t think we’re an athletic team whatsoever. I think that’s a big part of it to me. That’s what I see. So, you’re saying it makes it tougher for us to rotate because we don’t have that type of athleticism, you know? Yeah, you might you might have a point sometime. You might have a point there. I see guys trying, but they’re just too slow getting out. It’s not lack of effort. We just have a slow footed team. That’s what I see on a lot of So then, so then how do we attack it then? How do we how do we how do we change it? I mean, you just say, “Let’s just give up easier twos and just, you know, be closer to the three-point line.” I I don’t I don’t have the perfect answer. He probably know better than I would. You know, it’s it’s very tough. Um maybe you try something like a 32 zone instead of a two-3 zone. Right. Right. Uh but teams like to shoot from the corners. So, if you’re if you’re in a 3-2 zone, it’s going to leave the corners vulnerable, which is the shortest three-point line in the NBA, right? Right. Um Yeah. You know, the the really the best defense to shut down three-point shooting is manto man when you think about it because the zone is going to leave somewhere along the three-point line vulnerable. Exactly. Right. So, if they’re knocking down threes from the wings, you say, “Okay, let’s let’s try this 3-2.” Now, they might start knocking down threes from the corner. All right. And if we’re not fast enough to rotate in a man, we may not be fast enough to rotate in a zone. So, I don’t know. I don’t know. I I got, you know, the easy thing for someone to say would be, you know, just stick to your man. Stay close to your man, right? run them up the three-point line. But then in today’s NBA, you got to play helpside defense because it’s just hard to stay in front of anybody. You know what I mean? Uh so it’s it’s a difficult it’s definitely difficult. Yeah. I mean, and just specifically this Orlando team, it’s just it’s it’s just too much height. Like who’s Brunson Garden? 66. He was bullying him a lot. You know, Anthony Black, I like him, let’s see, 67, 6’8 coming off the bench. They’re just 6’8 and above everywhere. We don’t have anything like that. Yeah. Now, Sham’s out for God knows how long. He’s going to be out a long time. Now, Sham might be out. I I I def I feel bad for Sham, man. You know, he’s he he he was on his way to possibly having one of his best seasons in the league. Yeah. you know, and you know, he was averaging the second most points that he’s ever averaged in the league. You know, he’s averaging 22 minutes per game. You know, there were a good chance that he may have even averaged more minutes, you know, because OG was out. Uh, and then now boom, there he goes. Probably was that maybe I didn’t see the play correctly. Was that like a hard screen? Was that what it that’s what it looked like? Was that what it was? Yeah, I mean, you know, he he he was playing defense. The screen was there. Boom. you know, he hits the screen. It was a It was It was It was a illegal screen. It was just a hard scream. You know what I’m saying? Like, you know? Yeah. This is what I’m saying with this team. Like, you know, I know. Yeah. It probably wasn’t dirty, per se, but like to me, like, you see your teammates seriously hurt, like it was a hard play, a hard screen. Just, you know, at least go a little go talk to Card like get in his face or something. Like, they have nobody like that. Yeah. We we don’t like I see that I see and I see my teammate has a bad injury, a serious injury because of a hard screen. Mhm. You do a little something. I’m not saying punch the guy, right? You know, like, yo, come on, man. What’s good? What are we doing? You know what I’m saying? Like, there’s nothing like that on the scheme. No, nothing. No, we don’t have that at all. You know what I mean? And yeah, we don’t have it. Yeah, we don’t have it. And that toughness, that mean streak is is something that we’re missing. It’s gone. Yeah. Yeah. It’s gone. Yeah. Something we’re missing. JJ. Yeah. I appreciate it, man. You know, try to try to relax the rest of the weekend. Yeah. Probably going to be hard cuz, you know, the New York football teams, you know, so that means tomorrow more misery. I get to watch get to watch my Jets tomorrow. More misery. Uh so, you know, Giants same way. So, you know, what do you do? Watch the Bills. I don’t know. I don’t know. Yeah. All right. Appreciate you, brother. All right. Appreciate it, bro. Peace. All right, man. Take it easy. Ah, ladies and gentlemen, ladies and gentlemen, the New York Knicks take another loss on the road to the Orlando Magic. Um, you know, nine and six. All but one of their losses are on the road. The Knicks are struggling in that area, ladies and gentlemen. struggling on the road. Yes, they are. Shout out to my man JJ. Always love talking to my man JJ. Looking at the box score, Jaylen Brunson 33 points and 11 assist. Shot 57% from the field, only 33% from the three-point line. He made all of his uh free throw attempts. You know, it just wasn’t enough because the Knicks did not get stops. Carlanthony Towns 24 points 42% 43% from the field for the most part he was 90% from the free throw line eight rebounds not enough bridges 18 points 15 points for Jordan Clarkson he started the second half in lie of Landry Sham who went out with a shoulder injury Josh Hart 12 points five rebounds uh Josh Hart got attack on a you you know, um unsportsmanlike conduct, a hostile act, you know, on um Jaylen Suggs. It didn’t look like it was a it didn’t look like it was meaningful. He definitely had his hands close to his neck at least, but it didn’t look like it was meaningful, you know. Um but he got the call in the fourth quarter. Took a 13-point lead to a 14-point lead. The Knicks could never get themselves back in the graces, ladies and gentlemen. They just didn’t have it. They They couldn’t get stops. They could not get stops when it was necessary. You know what I mean? Did not get stops. Tyrone said too little to be defensive on certain teams and Orlando is one of them. Three-point defense still not there. Town’s watching on the bigs until he gets ready to try. Why? I don’t know. Um I mean this is who I mean towns has been this person for real. You know sometimes he you know I don’t know. I don’t know. Good question. How about that? Good question. Let me get to a phone call. Caller you’re live. Name me where you’re from, please. Hey, what’s up? This is uh JB Jason. How you doing? Jason, what’s what’s happening with you, bro? How you feeling? Good. Awesome. Good. Yeah, man. Tonight, uh, you know, I had the same sentiment last year. Um, we’re too slow, we’re too small, we’re too unathletic. And when we play against teams like Orlando, Detroit, and Toronto, it shows. I just those those teams are just bad matchups. And then the way the refs let Orlando play. I get it their physical team, but I felt some of the stuff was a little I just felt like the refs kind of let them I don’t know where I want to use I’m not going to say dirty. You know, I don’t want to put that on them, but you know, the refs let them play and that’s cool. You know what I mean? It is what it is. That’s how they play. They play tough. They play rough and we didn’t adjust. So, I just think Orlando is just a bad matchup for us. That’s what I feel. Um, secondly, defense. They had the same issue like you said to them last year with tips. Um the issue is right and I know you know this my opinion the issue is when you have a point guard one of your big men and defensive saves it’s not going to work. Um Brunson he gives a good effort and it’s not a knock to Brunson. So I don’t want people you know coming at me right now because he is he is reason why we’re here. one of the main reasons, but he gives effort, but he’s just not a great defender. Towns is a space cadet. Um, defense is neat. Um, you know, he he just can’t guard anybody. He’s too slow. Mitch. Um, you know, the Mitch thing is interesting because while he does give us a defensive anchor and rebounds, he can’t play more than 15 20 minutes because he’s too brittle. So, my thing is now I’m looking at is it a roster issue? Now, I’m not willing to give up on the team yet because it’s way too early in the season. I remember last year people said we couldn’t beat Austin, we couldn’t beat Cleveland. Now, we didn’t play Cleveland in the in the play in the playoffs, but we couldn’t beat the big teams, right? So, I’m not going to jump off a ledge yet because it’s way too early to make any definite declarations on anything we’re seeing right now, especially with a new coach. Um, I just feel like Orlando is just a bad matchup. I don’t care if we play them 10 times out of 10, they’ll probably win seven or six of those games. They’re just a bad match up. Sometimes styles make fights and they have our number right now and that’s fine. You know what I mean? We have to now counter with them. But I feel right now it’s a roster issue. Um heart is too small. Um Deuce, everybody loves Deuce. A two guard at 61 in this league with young athletic wings. I don’t know how far it’s going to get us. um you know, so that that’s kind of what I saw tonight. They were able to kind of bully us up and we didn’t respond and um hopefully Brown next time they have a meeting, whether it’s tomorrow or Monday, you know, whatever that before the next game, you really need to talk to these guys because that defense we’re playing ain’t going to cut it. You know what I mean? Like that defense ain’t going to cut it. You have Sugs hitting three-pointers like that. I mean, come on. Like, what what’s going on? So, I know. So, you know, my concern with what you’re saying is if it’s a roster issue, then we’re not ready. Then we’re not ready. I mean, right. I think I think I think the maybe maybe issues around but you know like I said in the in the in the off season are deuce while they you know been great mix we need an eusion of athletic wings we just don’t have and when we when we play teams like that it shows Orlando’s just a big long physical team we don’t have anybody to compete against Wagner and I don’t care what they even play tonight. You know, they’re just a big physical team. Like you can see it on TV and we just very we’re just very small. Like you can just tell, you know what I mean? We’re not a big team. I just feel like when you play teams like that, we have issues. It was the same thing last year. We played these long athletic teams and we struggled. Is that a coaching thing? Can Mike Brown do anything about that? No. You’re a coach. Not really. You’re a coach. You know, you’re a coach. Sim. Yeah. I mean, you’re co You’re a coach. You played ball. I played ball. You know, I didn’t get it to the big level, but sometimes there’s not much you could do. Sometimes the team just has your number. Now, in a seven game series, I’m still taking us because we still have the upper hand on experience and going through ups and downs in a playoff. So, but go ahead. So, I didn’t mean to cut you off. No. Um, you know, you’re ask, you know, you’re asking how do we defend against it? How do we beat it? You know, you know, some things you can’t, you know, you length, height, you know what I’m saying? How do you match that if you’re small? What do you do? You know, exactly. Uh, that that’s that’s a tough thing. Exactly. I I don’t I don’t know how you I don’t know what you do. I don’t know how you you know there’s some things that you can do. You know, if you want to neutralize, you know, the rebounding deficiency you might have, which we shouldn’t have, you know, a team might press a lot. Uh, you know, if a team is if a team is that um that much more bigger than you, you know, you try to exploit it by going off the dribble, you know, you know, you know, things things like that, right? But the thing is, they’re a team that even if they’re even though they’re big, they the way that they defend, they can defend you if you’re trying to go off the dribble, right? Right. They can they can still defend it. Uh so you really can’t exploit that. It doesn’t mean you have more speed than them. And in the NBA, you know what I’m saying? Just because you’re playing a team that’s bigger doesn’t necessarily mean you have more speed. Doesn’t necessarily mean you can go to the basket on them. So it’s it’s definitely difficult because um yeah it’s it’s a tough one. I don’t know. Right. So you know Orlando Orlando might just be one of those teams we just struggle against and that’s going to happen. Styles make fights all the time you know. So then what happens if we play them in the playoffs? You know, how do you because we’re saying we’re not sure how we overcome it. So if we play them in the playoffs, how do we overcome it? What’s going to make us be able to overcome it if we can’t overcome it? Now, the number one the number one thing is, you know, and I’ve been and I’ve been offend a defender of cat. I really have, you know, um I think a lot of people have jumped on him and some of it is his own doing, right? I still think he’s a great player, but the issue is when you’re when your front court is a civ on defense, you’re not you’re not going to go anywhere. And Mitch is not reliable enough. He’s just not. I know we love Mitch. We love Mitch. He’s been been a great Nick. He’s just not reliable. We we we what I want to see now is their rebound game, right? They got pumped on TV tonight, right? And I hate to admit it because I’m more of the optimistic fan. But Orlando took it to us tonight. It just is what it is. Yeah. But what I will say is this. Like I said, I’m not willing to jump off a cliff. It’s way too early to make any big declarations, right? I remember last year people were saying, “Well, we’ll never beat Boston in a series. We’ll never do this. We’ll never do that.” And you know, that happened. Now, I know this is a new year, new team, new coach. You know, so, but I think I think Cat needs to wake up. I don’t know what’s going on with him. I I don’t know. And I don’t know if he’ll ever be a really good defender if that’s the issue. at this point in his career, he kind of is who he is. Maybe he’ll get a little better, but for the most part, he’s who he’s going to be. And that’s why I said, you know, I’m going give it some time. I’m not willing to make any declarations, but as the season goes on, there’s going to be some conversations. And like I said, I’m not willing to make any big declarations or say, “Hey, they got to do this, do that.” But they got to get a big in here that could defend. And they need some inside. They need an inside presence. Mitch is good, but he’s just not reliable. He’s he’s he’s brittle right now, you know, and I don’t know how I doubt Leon will give him a big extension because he’s just not reliable. Now, if he could give us 25, 30 minutes in the game, then we talking. But the 15 here and he can’t play back to backs and he can’t do this. Like, I don’t know how reliable that is. Cat is not the answer defensively at the five. He wasn’t in Minnesota and he’s not gonna be here. That’s why they bought Rudy Go in that game. Yeah. You know what I mean? So, um, like I said, it was a tough loss, but it’s a long season. You know, I think I get it. People are upset about tonight. It looked like at a certain point they kind of kind of said, “All right, y’all got us. Y’all win. We out.” You know what I mean? It seemed like that’s how it felt to me when Brown took the starters out. Um, but you know, as long as Brunson and Towns, I think people just need to realize like we’re not going to be a great defensive team with those two. We we’re just not like I think fans need to wrap their head around that. Like I know people So then So then So then last question before I let you go. Yes, sir. So then if we’re not going to be a great defensive team, right, do we say, “Well, let’s go all in on offense. Let’s just let’s just, you know, I mean, is is that what you do and let the offense be our defense? You know, how how do you address that? Because if we want to win a title, we got to be able to we got to we got to get stops somehow. So, I think part of it too is like you said, playing the little zone, being a little opportunistic, maybe taking a little more a few more chances with steals. Um, you know, maybe things like that nature. I don’t have like a clear set answer for you. Yeah. But if that doesn’t work going into postseason and into offseason, then to me the issue is going to be roster construction going forward. Because if we want to be a good defensive team, the head of the snake and Brunson and then the spine of your team at Cap, you’re not gonna get we’re not gonna be number one in defense with those two. That’s just the bottom line of it. It’s really it’s really going to be a roster issue. But like I said, I’m not willing to jump off the ledge. I appreciate you, son, for giving me it’s a long season. I think everybody need to calm down and I’ll listen off here, man. No doubt. Appreciate you, JB. Yeah, it is a long season and we got a long ways to go. uh doesn’t mean that people aren’t concerned about um this team right now, you know, because you know there are things that we see that like how do you change it? How do you change the toughness factor if it’s just not natural without it becoming a foul fest? You know, where we’re doing things to try to be tough but it becomes a foul. How do you change that? Um, I don’t know. You know, it’s um some questions, some questions, ladies and gentlemen, that Orlando Magic took it to us. They took it to us. 37 points from France Vagner, right? Seven assists, six rebounds. He shot 68% from the field. 68%. He shot 66.7% from the three-point line. And I know we’re going to blame Mitch for it, but you know, uh, that’s the assignment he was given. And, you know, he’s not going to he’s not going to defend that guy. And he only played 16 minutes. So, it’s not like he was on him the entire 33 minutes. Let’s let’s be real for that, right? He, you know, he wasn’t on him the whole time. Desmond Bane, 27 points. No one could stop that dude. He shot 50% from the field, 43% from the three-point line. 26 points for Jaylen Suggs. He shot 53% from the field, 11 points for Anthony Black, 11 points for Wendle Carter Jr. And look, they didn’t even have anyone in double digit rebounds. They only had 43 rebounds, but we couldn’t stop them. They only took 85 shots. just could not stop the Orlando Magic. They were just tougher than us. They were meaner than us. They wanted to win more than we did. They are confident that they can beat us anytime they step on the floor with us. That’s you can see it in their play. You can see it in how they look. They feel like they can beat us anytime. They’re confident playing us. They’re not afraid to play us. I seen somebody say that the Miami Heat gave the Orlando Magic the blueprint. And I don’t disagree with that. When we played Miami that first time, they were tougher than us. And and and I do feel like they exposed something about us that we weren’t a tough team. You know, Jason Benjamin was just on the line with us. Thank you for the super chat. He said Orlando is a bad matchup. Too athletic athletic and too tall for us. Again, Jason said, “Cat and Brunson are the issues on defense. It’s a roster issue. We are slow.” You heard them. You just heard them talk to us. We are slow, small, and unathletic. We will struggle with teams like the Magic, the Pistons, and the Raptors. Um, that’s an issue because those teams, the Raptors might be Detroit’s going to be in the playoffs. The Magic might be in the playoff or probably be in the playoffs and the Raptors might be in the playoffs. IMC Beauty said Josh Hart has to go again. He is a liability. Uh I mean I don’t know if I I don’t agree with that. I think that Josh Hart is a big part of Josh Hart might be the toughest guy we have. We’re talking about toughness, you know. So I I think you know last year he was in a role he was in a starting role and and people expected him to be a scorer for this basketball team. I think this year he’s in a nice role coming off the bench you know where he can participate. I mean where he can just do what he does participate. Of course he’s going to participate where he can do what he does. Latasha Council said the new system is working. The issue is when Brunson is in the game the ball movement is non-existent. Uh, I don’t know. I mean, you know, Brunson is Brunson is the guy. He’s going to he’s going to take shots. When you have a guy that can score the basketball, that’s what he’s going to do. You know what I’m saying? Now, I’ve I’ve said a long time ago, a facilitator is what we need. I think a facilitator, Latasha, solves that problem. if you have a facilitator out there with Brunson because that facilitator can get everyone else involved and you can let Brunson do what he does. You know what I mean? So I I understand what you’re saying there, but I I think that’s part of roster construction. You know, you don’t have like JB is the guy who handles the ball, who makes the decisions out there, but he’s also a scorer. And I don’t think he’s at the level where he can do both efficiently. So, I think, you know, we do need a guy uh that can facilitate while Brunson is resting in the corner or something like that. You know, IMC Beauty said, “But we can’t depend on JB all the time.” I agree. We can’t. And you know, Cat is supposed to be the second guy. You know, he’s he’s in and out. He’s in and out. You know what I’m saying? And you could see it when, okay, we played the one game without Brunson and we, you know, we scored a lot of points and all of that um against Miami, then when we came back the next game, you seen where it was, right? You know, we it was a struggle. Cat’s always going to be in and out. it seems like, you know, uh he’s he’s not just he’s going to consistently get because he because he’s offensively talented, he he’ll consistently get 20 20 to 24 points a game, but um the efficiency is going to be up and down with him. You know, games like today when you see here’s the funny thing. I was thinking about this during the game. Here’s the funny thing with Cat. games like tonight when you really want Cat to be to to play rough, to play aggressive, to play tough. He wants to shoot threes. And then you have games against like the Washington Wizards where, you know, he’s abusing guys down low. You know what I’m saying? You can’t just do that to bump teams that got bum guys down low or to the Brooklyn Nets or whoever, right? You got to do it against guys like we played tonight who’s going to play you aggressive and not resort to three-point shooting all night. You know what I’m saying? Um, you know, he took six three-point shot attempts. Half of his shot attempts tonight uh were from the three-point line. And I know he’s a three-point shooter. I get it. But when a team like this is is is playing you aggressive, you’re the biggest and should be strongest guy on our team. You got to step in and say, “Nah, I’m not. This ain’t this this is this not happen. This isn’t happening tonight.” And be aggressive and we just, you know, he’s not that guy. We don’t have that guy. And that’s a problem, you know. I don’t know. Bball Baller for real said cat is rebelling. He’s a grenade and he keeps blowing up in our faces. Um I mean, who’s he rebelling against? I think that I don’t know if he’s rebelling against anyone. I think that um this is what this they’re okay with him shooting threes. Mike Brown is okay with him shooting threes. I think Mike Brown is, you know, is like, “Hey, this is your game. We’re going to let you play your game.” But who, you know, who’s going to be that tough guy? We don’t I don’t know. I don’t know. It is an issue, ladies and gentlemen. It is an issue without a doubt. Uh Latasha said Cat needs to get tough. I just don’t know if he will. Maybe we’ll see it every now and again, right? We’ll see some toughness every now and again. I don’t I don’t know if you’re going to see it consistently. I don’t know. The Knicks only grabbed 43 rebounds, too, ladies and gentlemen. Obviously, both teams were shooting well, so there wasn’t going to be that many rebounds to go around. 28 assists for both teams, five steals for both teams. The Knicks had 17 turnovers tonight. All because Orlando was playing more aggressive, more tough, more physical. 17 turnovers from tonight for the Knicks. They only shot 35% from three. They shot 54% from the field. But Orlando also shot 55% from the field. And they shot 39% from three. Orlando 64 points in the paint to the Knicks 46. And that those points in the paint aren’t from guys posting up every single possession. Guys hitting back door cuts off the dribble from the top of the key down the lane dunks from Jaylen Suggs, right? Because they drew us away from the basket leaving leaving space for them to cut. you know, we’ve got to sh up that part of the defense that inside. I mean, I mean, right now they’re killing us. Teams are killing us inside and outside. So, the times we’ve had good defensive games, you know, I I don’t know if it was it because we actually played good defense or is it because the team just it was off, you know? That’s that’s that’s the question. So many holes in this defense and teams are exploiting him. It’s tough. Baller for real said, I understand he can’t play in the post. His footwork is atrocious, but I’m not asking him to dance. Slide your damn feet and keep a man in front of you for Pete’s sake. I get that. Um, I I understand that 100%. You know, I’m with you. You know, play play some defense, keep a guy in front of you. Um, and I know, listen, we lost today, so people are upset. People aren’t going to be happy about this team right now. Today, we turn around and we beat the Brooklyn Nets. Teams, you know, people are going to be happy. We We turn around and blow them out. Let’s say that. Not just beat them. We turn around and blow them out. You know, people, okay, that’s what we’re supposed to do. People will be happy. Although the Brooklyn Nets are, you know, maybe the worst team in the league. I don’t know. I don’t know. Look, I’ll continue to say it’s early in the season. early in the season. Mike Brown is trying to figure some things out. The team is trying to figure some things out. There’s a lot of season left to go. A lot of season left. I never expected that they that they were going to have it all together in the beginning of the season. I thought it would, you know, by the midway point of the season, we’d be starting to really play well. You know, that’s kind of where I thought we would be. We’re nine and six. I thought, you know, I don’t know if I thought we’d be nine around nine and six or if we’d be better than that. I to be honest with you, before I ever looked at the Knicks schedule, I predicted that, you know, we might struggle to start the season. Then when I looked at the Knicks schedule, I said, “Oh, maybe people are right. kind of got a light schedule. So maybe we won’t struggle as much as I thought with nine and six. Um looking at the schedule, yes, you would say we would be better than 9 and six. You know, Walter said, “How did we beat Cleveland and Miami?” Well, we when we beat Miami in New York, obviously no Tyler Herro, no BAM. Um, we beat him. We played, you know, you can say, well, we scored a lot of points against Miami when we beat him. That was, you know, one of the highest scores games you’ve ever seen between New York and Miami. Maybe the highest scoring game, probably the highest scoring game you’ve ever seen between New York and Miami. Cleveland was an early early game. I don’t know if you could take anything either way from that game to be honest with you because teams hadn’t really started breaking down film on each other. It was, you know, one of your it the first game or something. Now is the point in time where teams are really able to break down film. They’ve seen what you’ve been doing. It’s on video. It’s on tape. It’s on film. And so now they start to scheme against you. Things naturally get more difficult, right? They start to figure out how to capitalize on your weakness, how to how to exploit your weaknesses. Now it it’s up to the Knicks to respond to that. And this isn’t a thing that that that evolves and goes throughout the season, right? You respond to what teams are doing, how they scheme against you, you’re doing something new, and then teams respond to that and it goes on and goes on and goes on and your good coaches figure it out. Your good teams figure it out. They figure out how to counteract whatever the opponents are putting before you. Sometimes not in the same game, but another team is going to do the same thing. If they see it works, how do you counteract it? This where Mike Brown comes in. I seen someone earlier in the chat say Mike Brown was supposed to get us over the top. He is supposed to get us over the top, but no one said it’s going to be easy. Right. It’s not just going to be this walk in the park, right? It’s going to be it’s going to be tough. It’s going to be tough. And you know, there’s going to be there’s going to be ups and downs. We just got to be ready. We We just got to be patient. Patient. Tasha said the game was too early. Maybe five o’clock game. Maybe Bball Baller for real said Shammit on the Knicks is such a tease. It’s a mirage. Uh who had a shoulder injury on their bingo card this early. Yeah, you know, I I do want to talk about Shamid. I feel bad for Shamid, man. You know, you know, he’s he he keeps coming back, right? He keeps coming back. suffered an injury last year, comes back. Comes back this year. He’s having a great season. Very good season. Now he’s out with a shoulder injury again. We’ll see the severity of it, I’m sure, soon. You know, um and he continue, you know, it’s tough. It’s tough because he was working his way to become um a very important piece to this basketball team, right? He had already secured himself a rotation spot. I mean, when OG’s out, he’s put in as the starter. When Mitch is out, he’s put in as the starter. Mike Brown loves what he can do and how he adds to this basketball team. And he’s contributed. He’s helped us win basketball games. you know, um it looks like he’s a big piece that was lost and we don’t know how long it’s going to be. Um you know what the injury is and all of that, but he’s at peace. He is at peace that is lost. Yeah, I feel bad for him. Obviously hurting for the Knicks. I hope that he’s going to be okay. you know, will he be able to come back this season, depending on what the what the injury is? Maybe. You know, if it’s a dislocated shoulder, maybe if it’s something more than that, maybe not. You know, um I don’t know. Let me ask you this. Who do Who starts now? J uh Jordan Clarkson was the starter in the second half. As long as OG is out, will will it be Jordan Clarkson who’s now the starter in that role? Uh, you know, he’s another guy who can handle the rock a little bit. He can shoot the ball. He can be a little bit out of control, obviously. You know what I’m saying? So, that could be, you know, that could be a scary proposition. Who starts to take up those backup role minutes? Is it Diara? Diawara didn’t have a good showing today. I support Diwara. I like his energy offensively. He makes some mistakes when trying to pass the ball, right? You seen him, you know, two turnovers today throwing crosscourt passes or not crosscourt passes, but maybe some lazy passes that got picked off and maybe more playing time. you know, he he gets to understand the speed of the game a little bit more on that level. Deuce was out today, so Kick got some time. Um, you know, Deuce comes back. I wouldn’t expect Kohic to be out there, but does Diwara get those minutes? You got to have Shamut is out. Okay. Okay. Clarkson maybe eats up some of those minutes. Diara, I mean OG is out. Dior has some size, you know what I mean? So maybe with Dio’s size, you’re saying, “All right, um, we’ll give him a go.” But he’s got to be able to make good decisions out there on the floor. defensively he gets comfortable. I think he’ll definitely help a lot defensively and and maybe he is that guy that brings not not not the toughness but just a little bit more edge defensively, a little bit more nastiness or something. You know, I always thought he was a spark for this basketball team. I always thought he was a little bit of a spark. So, we’ll see if he gets out there and gets more minutes tonight. Let me see. Diwara tonight. How many minutes did he have? He he he had 10 minutes tonight for Diwara. 13 minutes for the opposi, you know, and and he’s been Mike Brown has been getting a little bit more comfortable with Diwara, so we’ll see if he um starts to get those minutes. The Knicks need something defensively. Something defensively. Capri said, “Mike Brown is a joke. The front office is coaching the team, not Mike Brown. You bring in two new players that’s better than the starters only for them not to play. Uh, two players that’s better than the starters. Who are you talking about? You say Jordan Clarkson is better than our starters? You’re saying that Yabaselli is better than our starters? Come on, bro. Come on, bro. Yelli is lucky he’s getting off the wood right now. For real. He’s lucky cuz he ain’t hooping. He’s nothing that we thought he was going to be. He is not hooping, you know. Come on. Come on. Now, are we deeper? Yeah, I I get it. You’re right. We’re deeper. But those two players aren’t better than our starters. What are you talking about? I mean, so you know, uh, now you said Mike Brown is a joke. The front office is coaching the team. I do have some questions about that. how much the front office is into the daytoday workings of the basketball team. I have some questions about that. I do. You know what I mean? I don’t know. I don’t know. Me and all, you know, this whole thing, collaboration thing and all of that. I do have some questions. So, that’s that’s that’s a thought. That’s a thought and something that maybe we should dig into, but I you know I don’t I don’t I don’t know. Real King said, “Yeah, Brown is a definitely a puppet.” I I don’t want to say that. I I do wonder how much the front office is having input on who’s playing rotations, if they’re having input at all. But I do wonder do wonder about that. But ladies and gentlemen, I’mma let the night rock out. You know, um, tough loss to the Orlando Magic tonight, 133 to 121. You know, I I wanted to get that win. You know, I wanted to capitalize on the road win we got in Dallas. No matter if it was we scraped it out, if whatever we thought, I wanted to capitalize on that, get another one. You know what I’m saying? and we got the monkey off our back. I wanted to prove that, you know, it wasn’t just a fluke we won in Dallas. It wasn’t just because they didn’t have any stars that ain’t happen. Took the L. Ladies and gentlemen, I appreciate your time. You know, uh, be easy, relax for the rest of the night. Hopefully I can get at you tomorrow, you know, but I’m out. Peace. Hey, nothing but nicks. When s pass the assist, you know that it’s number one show that breaks down the game. If you can’t play defense, stay out my way. Dribble the ball, come down the lane. 5 seconds on the shot clock. Who going to win us the game? You want to hear nick updates and trade rumors, postgame reviews, this the place you tune in. Tell our friends, it’s to keep the ball moving. Like the page if you feeling the movement. Every game we coming to win. Give us a sub like a player that came off the bench. This is NBK, nothing but nicks.

After scraping out a win vs the starless Dallas Mavericks, the Knicks pull a disappearing act vs the Orlando Magic and don’t show up in the second half. Landry Shamet injured his shoulder on a ball screen and did not return to the game.

  1. Regarding the caller's comment about Mitch Rob not being a shot rim protector I disagree. A player like F. Wagner is a tough cover for him because he's a good 3 pt shoot use is both strongth and athletic plus he got size. What the Knick players have to realize quick is they're the hunted this year and can't afford to take any team for granted. Also the Knicks need to toughen up against the physicality they face. The has gotten out that if your aggressive and physical against them it disrupts their offense.

  2. I’m a Magic fan since 1989, you had no problem with the defense of Ewing, Oakley and Mason back in the day, so why complain about it now. Your window is wide open with Boston down, but if you wait to long The Magic and The Pistons are going to pass you bye!
