Anyone else looking at David Jones Garcia and seeing flashes of Jonathon Simmons? I love when players seemingly come from nowhere and play a high level of basketball like Linsanity.

  2. No. J Simms was athletic and could do some nice dunks every now and then. DJG is a much better ball handler, play maker, and defender

  3. I hope he pulls some bullshit tonight against the Suns. They’ll be eyeing Fox on D so it’s up to someone else to step up with him.

  6. Simmons was an amazing athlete who was capable of doing some spectacular things on the court. He had a solid for some stretches but wasn’t that consistent.

    We’ll see how Jones Garcia turns out, though he isn’t nearly as athletic as Simmons was. But he looks like he is a little more skilled and a better shooter.

  7. Don’t forget that Simmons brought a lot of juice off the bench. Love having a player like him on the bench.

  9. Yes from an off-the-bench, underdog, right heart, and electrifying effect on the crowd perspectives – they both came from nowhere and are able to contribute to winning basketball.

    No as Simmons was an athletic dunker scorer and Garcia is a playmaker shooter.

    I’d almost say Garcia shows glimpses of CP3/ TP, not same tier but in similiar direction – good playmaking team-first; and his defense is actually solid against other PGs!

  10. I like your thought process!! Didn’t even consider that. Imagine if he would have stayed with the Spurs rather than going for the money. I feel he would have thrived with us.

  11. Small sample size but he is what we always needed from someone like patty.. can help get a bucket when needed and not a defensive liability

  14. Offensively, jones-Garcia is better than Simmons. I miss those chase down blocks though.
