Why Mets traded Brandon Nimmo to Rangers for Marcus Semien
Mets trading. Brandon Mo to
Texas for Marcus semien. So what well I can explain why based on what I’ve heard here this evening the Mets, of course, looking to
get better and their defense. This is a move in that direction
in that at two positions, this trade can impact
that now Simeon is an elite defensive. Second
basement Nimmo and not an elite defensive
corner outfielder. So what this does is give the Mets
a a chance to improve their Outfield defense. They could do that in free
agency. If a Cody Bellinger say breaks
to them I’d say a Kyle Tucker is suboptimal because that has Juan
Soto moving to left field if you were to sign Tucker. So
in terms of the Run prevention, the term that David Stern’s, of course likes to use it. Would make more sense to either. Promote from within
we room for some of the young outfielders, they have coming
jet Williams, Carson, venge, and use the Roster spot for
that. Well, again, getting so much
better at second base. Jeff, McNeil can play a little left
now. Jeff McGill complacent. First base, depending on what
happens with Peter Lanza or even if Alonzo comes back to DH
a bit, McNeil can play first. So that’s
me. Spitballing with some information of course in
reporting on why they made the trade and how this is going to play
out now with the players that they’ve Acquired and have coming
up through their system. Wow I mean listen you You have a season like the Mets
did last year and you understand that extreme changes
are likely and that started with the coaching staff. And now
it has continued with the first major Domino to
fall on this roster. The first member of the Mets
core to be moved and that is Brandon Nimmo going to Texas
from Marcus semien. I got to tell you, you know, just if you
paid attention the last few weeks, this isn’t entirely
shocking. Brandon demos name has certainly been out there but at the same time just saying, hey In the demo, is a Texas Ranger, that’s stunning. I always think back to that
press conference. After he signed his extension couple of
years back, where he put on the Mets, uniform, in the first
thing you said was it’s nice to know that I’m putting this on and it’s not coming off or
something to that effect. Brandon memo was a great met a
prideful met. Someone who I talked often about with him
his legacy as a met and when he put that uniform on He really did look at himself as
somebody that not just would be a leader of this team for
years to come. But somebody that one day might have his
number nine, in the Raptors retired, he thought about stuff like that and so it is it’s sad that that he’s no longer here but
David Stern’s made it very clear after the season that his Focus
was going to be on improving the defense. Brandon demos
defense did slip this year in left field and you know listen Simeon is his
offense is Falling off. But he is still a gold glove Defender. So so the Mets and the Rangers
make that move on a personal note. I just I just need to say that
Brandon Nimmo and this shouldn’t shock. Anybody one of the greatest people in
the game that I’ve ever dealt with personally I will miss him as stand up as they come just a wonderful human. A wonderful met for all these
years, the first draft pick of Sandy Alderson back in 2011, I
believe and he will be missed, he will
be missed. So best of luck to him and his wife, Chelsea and their child and and this won’t be the last move.
This will not be the last move of the off season for the Mets,
as they look to completely reshape the team that they were

Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story 2: NOOOOOOOOO!!!
I wish Brandon and his family the best! I will miss him but I think this move is good for him, playing in an indoor ballpark and getting a new opportunity to play for other baseball fans that will now get to enjoy the best parts of him the way we have.
Nimmo and Alonso both need to be getting DH reps with Soto a couple years away. Makes sense to trade Nimmo, if they are resigning Alonso and signing Tucker (preferably) or Bellinger.
Yeah, whatever. You swapped an aging power hitting outfielder for an even older power hitting outfielder who is already in decline while Nimmo put up career highs. You've added some defense at the position in the name of "run prevention" but sacrificed 10 HR 30 RBI from 2025. I hope Semein doesn't make ONE ERROR all year and throws out 25 guys at the plate to make this worth it. How about PITCHING, Stearns??? Now I hear he's shopping Senga. How about getting a starting PITCHER in here, David? How about RESIGNING PETE!! Nah, instead McLean will go down with elbow inflammation on March 14 and Jonah Tong or Tylor MeGill will start on Opening Day and Stearns will come out with a huge smile after signing 7 more waiver reclamation projects and tell us he's "very optimistic about our depth." Maybe the guy with the Achilles injury and the career 5.00 ERA comes back early and saves our season in August. Some things never change.
stop with the pride ishh the guy was average
Bad tradeš®š®š®u will see
I think personally Nemo wanted to leave he felt may be unappreciated especially one Soto caiman came in the mix as a fan distrait donāt make no sense but as a business it Screams that a change is necessary but goddamn why you had to be the most wholesome kid in the world
Seimen is a bum , good defense but nimmo was ALWAYS TOP THREE IN OPS
As a Mets fan, this trade feels like a letdown already.
This one hurts. I understand the philosophy behind trying to improve defensively, but I simply cant get behind this one.
but didn't he have to approve the trade..?
Pete's gone too
Just another trade that will bite the mets in the ass.
As Ottavino revealed, Stearns is a bad communicator, so no surprise Nimmo waived his trade clause
Terrible tradeā¦.
I Love this trade Marcus Semien is a winner!
Dont fall in love with LOSERS thereās no loyalty in making friends in baseball! The Mets keep choking and choking I welcome a winner In Marcus Semien!
Too many hurt feelings in the comments about Nimmo trade. He was awful in left field this season and getting worse. Nobody notive that he played with a bum knee and foot. The Mets trade some offense for better defense and dumped that awful contract that Billy Eppler given to Nimmo.
Gelbs, stopppppp with the love affair. Do us Mets fans wanna win or have long time players? I wanna root this team on while they win the world series. Nimmo, thank you, but moving on. Welcome Marcus Semien.
Semien stinks
Love the move
unless Nimmo asked for a trade this makes no sense
Sincerely, a bad move for the Mets management. The Mets office continuing making āBig Mistakesā, without analyzing carefully.
Mauricio, AcuƱa or Vientos, are candidates that Mets had to trade before moving Nimmo.
I do prefer trade Juan Soto than Nimmo who has been more effective that Soto or many others Mets in the lineup!
No way Mets move Soto to LF. He's a RF or better yet a DH.
I'm curious if they had gone with Baty as the primary 2nd baseman, if his offense and defense would be comparable or better than Semien's. If the major factor was the contract length, then I get it.
