Did our coaches not know their linebackers were all battered? Are we stupid? THROW IT DOWN THE MIDDLE. It’s how every team beats us!

  1. 24 completions for 170 some yards. This is like when Ben was in his last year. They need to bring in an offensive coordinator with an imagination and a quarterback, who has an arm. Howard, the rookie might as well be playing.

  2. You don’t get it, their 5th to 7th string linebackers were actually super dangerous. We couldn’t take the risk!!

    /s

  3. For a team that has 4 tight ends and 2 receivers that excel in that slot you would think that we would use the middle of the field more…

  4. Tomlin is ultra mega insanely conservative and believes it’s risky to throw over the middle of the field. So if he doesn’t have a hall of famer then his qb won’t throw over the middle.

  5. What’s painfully funny is this is the exact area we get killed defensively.

    See the problem?

  6. I do believe its because throwing down the middle increases the likelihood of  the pass being intercepted. The problem with that is, its basically living in our fears and not risking to get the biscuit.

  7. You realize this chart requires an actual attempt to pass be made, right?

We had guys in the middle of the field. They werent open because Bears played with the safeties’ positioning to take those routes away. Which they were able to do because we have no threat to win on the outside to keep them honest

This is a George Pickens post more than anything

  8. I think you may have cracked why the Steelers have trouble defending the middle of the field. They never see it in practice.

  9. Crazy how they had 3 linebackers out and i think lost one during the game and we still didnt throw in the middle. Worst part is – its been like this for years lol

  10. Too much apprehension towards middle of the field. Offense & Defense. This team is much better than they’ve shown. Steelers forever.

  11. I’ve said this for a couple of years, but it’s definitely true now – we NEED a losing season, none of this “9-8 papering over the cracks” bullshit, a proper losing season where someone has to take notice of the state of things

  12. It’s got to be coaching. Seems like they do it no stop with a qb they don’t trust. Instead of going over the middle we throw go balls that go nowhere. I feel this is where having a guy like Rodgers in he might be on his last leg but he does his own thing with checks and audibles he’d of done his best to exploit that weakness. Coaching wise I’d say it’s Tomlin. Canada got the axe for it smith is definitely better but they go back to the same tendencies when they don’t trust the QBs.

  13. Shitty scheme, they’re probably using the same playbook written In crayons for Fichtner and Canada.
