“I Put A Lot Of Work In” | Colten Ellis After 5-1 Win Over Oilers | Buffalo Sabres

who it is out there. It just seems like you’re the same no matter what. Uh how do you keep that level head? I think it’s just kind of sticking to, you know, my routine and my process and, you know, the keys that give me success and um you know, I put a lot of work in on, you know, creating my game and and what that is. And I think no matter who you’re facing, you can’t kind of stray away from what makes you you as a as a goalie. So, um you know, every night I just try to do that. And I’m sure it uh you take nothing for granted, but it still also must be nice to be noticed. I mean, that was your third start in four games, so obviously the coaching staff is noticing you. Yeah, for sure. I mean, it’s like I just want to play games and and give a team give the team a chance to win. So, um you know, whatever I can do to to earn my ice, I’m going to do. What did your team do in front of you, your defensive effort in particular to shut down the Edmonton lawyers? They limited Zack Heyman, Conor McDavid, Leon Dryidle to one assist in this game. Yeah, they were awesome. Everybody um forwards, Dman, everybody was great at, you know, keeping them to the outside and I think that was a big focus for us going in and, you know, kind of limit uh limit the amount of times they’re able to walk through the middle and um you know, they did a great job of keeping everything to the outside for me. Your biggest save may have been your first one about 5 10 seconds in the game. They they set up Heyman coming right down the slot. you make that save, the game could be totally different. Uh, talk about that save and how big it was to start the game off like that. Yeah, I think just being ready to go as soon as the puck drops is is really important. You don’t want to get caught chasing a game, get down early. So, um, you know, just tried to read the play as best I could and um, made the save. Was just saying he’s not sure he’s seen another guy who stays out so late, you know, taking breakaways at the end of practice. Why is that so important to you to be out there for those guys and to work on you? I think it’s it’s helpful for both of us. Like guys get to, you know, practice and I get to practice it. So, um, you know, it’s it’s just as much for me as it is for them. So, obviously, like I think that’s just being a good teammate as well. And, um, something I enjoy doing.
