Pittsburgh Steelers x Chicago Bears Postgame Report

We suck again. The weird part is I actually don’t think we played that bad. You look at time of possession. You look at our running attack on offense. Defense, we got some of the splash. We got some of the turnovers. Uh but some of the hiccups in the secondary popped up. I I didn’t think it was that awful of a game for the defense. wasn’t good. It wasn’t completely building off the momentum that we’ve had over the last like two or three weeks. I didn’t think it was awful either. The offense put the defense in a tough spot. They got 14 points off of those turnovers. Mason with the pick early in the game and then the fumble when I think Yeah, we were kind of diving like we had something going on that drive and then Mason fumbled it and that turned into a disaster. Bear scored a touchdown off that. Weird game. Yeah, Mason didn’t play good. I mean, he didn’t He never played good because of the turnovers. I don’t think he played bad either. I mean, we did move the ball pretty good. It’s a really weird game. Like, we had a chance at the end, too. Had a chance. I mean, that’s sometimes that’s all you can ask for in some of these weird games. Had a chance. Final drive. kick the field goal to tie it, have a touchdown to win and push game to shove. Mason couldn’t get it done. Roger Jones gets injured, JPJ gets injured. Weird game. Another deflating loss though for sure. Just again when we have some momentum with this team, feels like we take a step back. Now, how much do you take away from an offensive standpoint with Rogers not being out there? because obviously he’s still going to be the starter going forward and when you have a performance like that with the backup it’s like uh how much yeah you you try to play the hypothetical game would a could a shoulda like if Rogers was out there do we win how much different does it look like I mean I I think you have a better chance of Rogers winning this game if he was out there given how it played out like going into it you know I was high on Mason I was saying like I wouldn’t mind seeing what Mason could do for another game based off of how he looked in the second half of that Bengals game and then going back to 2023 his last like four or five games in a Steeler uniform it’s like he’s you know he’s played good for us man I think we could win games with Mason I think we could actually do some damage and you know we we saw some of that from Mason we saw some of that from the offense we saw some pauses but ultimately some of those turnovers and then there just there wasn’t enough and that’s the other thing that’s why wondering even if we had Rogers, would it have made that much of a difference? Like I I don’t think we get the turnovers, maybe that’s it. I don’t even blame Mason for the first one. DK, you throw a 50-50 ball up, the dude makes an unbelievable play. Now, the fumble, that’s a different story. Maybe we don’t get the two turnovers with Rogers, but in terms of the explosiveness that we desire from an offensive standpoint, it’s not like we’ve really been seeing that at a really high clip with Rogers either. I I don’t know how much things really change. No, I think Rogers end of the game, final drive, he gives us a better chance to win than Mason. Yeah, I think we could definitely say that. How much does the game flow look though or how much different does the game flow look and you know just how the the script for the game plays out if Roger was there? I still still look like a bunch of the same bunch of the same stuff that we’ve witnessed this season with the Steelers team. Not only from offense as I’ve been alluding to, but also yeah defense same thing. They they did a better job stopping the run. Like that was a good job stopping the run. Bears running attack. Secondary for the hiccup. Start to show up again. Six and five. Here’s what’s funny. This would be the one to drop in terms of these games down the home stretch. This is the one to lose. This is the one to play it safe on Rogers injury and have him sit. Even though he wanted to play the Bears, even though that history’s there and you know, Rogers really wanted to play. If you were going to sit Rogers for one game, this is it. NFC opponent on the road. You know, we still got the Ravens two times. You got the Browns. So, three AFC North matchups that matter. Dolphins AFC game, Lions, Bills AFC game. If you if you’re talking about a game to lose, a game to drop, a game to sit Rogers and play it safe, this is the one. Like I I I I’m sorry if I’m selling us on some false hope here or trying to be a little bit too optimistic after what we just witnessed, but it’s like listen, uh everything we want is still in front of us in terms of winning the division and making the playoffs, having a home game, home playoff game at Acer Stadium. It’s all there. But I don’t know. Same old same old still. Like it’s that’s just what it continues to feel like. Six and five. Just kind of like where we were what a couple weeks ago. Four and three after a bad loss. It’s numbing. It’s it’s uh apathetic as a fan base. It just feels like we’re running in circles. We’re in the same cycle of mediocrity, above average, just enough to be relevant, not good enough to really compete. That’s what it feels like. That’s what it feels like. All right. Uh, let me read some of these comments, man. Yeah, this is my bad. My bad. This is my bad right here. My fierceness. Y’all wanted to make That’s my bad. My bad. Bad take. Bad take. I I still don’t think he played bad though. Don’t think he played bad. Was he the reason we Maybe you could argue he was kind of the reason we lost because of the turnovers and because of the fact we had that final drive. And it’s like, bro, I don’t care what happened the first three and a half quarters of this game, the first three and three four quarters of this game. We got a chance to tie it. Final drive, less than two minutes. Let’s get it done. Now, we lost that timeout because of Pierre’s injury. What the hell was that? What What the hell was Pierre doing? We deserve to lose that timeout. Like, that was disgusting. Trying to flop. Trying to flop. But like, what the hell, bro? What was that? Like, he wasn’t really injured, right? When they showed that replay, it’s like, you’re trying to flop. Then we got what we deserved there. Oh, Steeler player injured. The clock is stopped because of the incomplete pass. We’re still going to doggy the timeout. Yeah, that was awful. Absolutely awful. Still had enough time. We got off to a good start on that drive, too. Moving the ball. Probably we should have at least gotten the field goal. Maybe you could argue we should have given Boswell a chance from where we were on fourth down as opposed to going forward. That would have been what a 66 yard in Chicago late fall, late November. I would have been opposed to giving Boswell a chance. I don’t think that’s one I’m going to critique too much though because, you know, it’s a tough field no matter who’s kicking it. Yeah, my bad on the the Mason call. Wanted to see him for another game. My bad. That’s That’s on me. That’s on me. Too much of a knee-jerk reaction after that second half of the Bengals game. Going back to what I was saying about Rogers. Does he give us I do think he probably gives us a little bit better of a chance. What percent chance? Again, I don’t know how much different the game flow is or the game necessarily looks from an offensive standpoint because there’s still glaring issues there. We don’t have enough weapons on offense. We’re not as explosive as we need to be from an aerial attack standpoint. We’re not. I like what we’re doing in the run game. Kenneth Gainwell, Jaylen Warren, they continue to show up. But what was it at one point in the game, like late into the game, our leading receiver was Ben Stironic. One catch for 21 yards. Like that’s insane. That’s absolutely insane. We just don’t have enough. We don’t have enough firepower. DK Metaf ain’t even getting the job done as a number one. We get he commands some attention, but bro, sometimes he he ain’t even making the most of the opportunities he’s being given already. Like that one-on-one play. Yeah, Mason might have underthrown him a little bit, I guess. I I don’t know. I think that’s just the ball you throw up to your number one receiver and you’re expecting him to make a play. You could argue he jumped a little bit too early on that and that’s why the quarterback was able to high point it better than DK Mech. I don’t blame Mason for that throw, but I mean, what else do we got, man? Like, who’s who’s getting open? Calvin Austin, Roman Wilson. I’m not seeing it. Tight ends. We continue to try to incorporate these multi-tight end sets and get John Smith the ball so he can get some run after. Not working. It’s It just ain’t it, bro. It ain’t it. Darnell Washington, every time we get him the ball, good things happen. probably incorporate him more into the offense. Other than that, we did ourselves a huge disservice by getting rid rid of Pickkins and not finding a confident replacement for him. Huge disservice. I don’t necessarily blame us for trying out Calvin Austin, Roman Wilson, and what we have, but once you see it’s not enough, you got to go out of your way and get something. I know we were in on Jacobe Meyer. I get we were in on Rasheed Shahed and we made competitive offers. In fact, if you depending on who you listen to, we offered the same thing that both the Seahawks and the Jaguars gave up to get those receivers, but Meyers and Shahed wanted to go to those teams instead of us. I’ll rush them a little bit better to make sure you can get one of those guys. Now, I don’t I wasn’t that set on getting Jacobe Myers to begin with. Jahed would have been nice, but even going out of your way to maybe getting a a Garrett Wilson, a Jaylen Wadd, Calvin Ridley, some of those other receivers that were on the trade block, Chris Olive, like you see what we got, ain’t it. It just it ain’t it. Stop hoarding the draft picks because those aren’t guarantees either. And some of those receivers that we could have got, it’s like those could still those could be long-term solutions. Chris Ave, a Garrett Wilson, a Calvin Ridley. Yeah, those those those guys could be around for two, three, four years. Still in their prime. Calvin Edley a little bit more up there in age, but I think you get my point. Let me get some of these paid comments in here. Uh Pete the Penguins Ghost eight doesn’t lose this game. I think I think it’s fair. I think it’s fair. I think he does give us a better chance to win, but in terms of an overall bird’s eye view standpoint with this team, with this offense, how much differently does it look? Are we still complaining about the same things? I think so. I think so. From uh can the Steelers legitimately compete in the AFC? Can we go toe for toe with some of the better offenses and better teams in the conference? I think we’re I think I’m still talking about the same stuff. Even if we win, you’re probably saying, “Yeah, we’re still lacking explosiveness on offense. We don’t have enough juice to receiver position. How long can we keep this up? Is this really going to win if we if we need to go toe fortoe with Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, Herbert? Um I was going to say Mahomes, but I don’t even know about that. Did they lose? Did they actually lose to the Colts overtime right now? Okay, that would be awesome if the Colts won and can almost knock the Chiefs out of the playoffs there. That That would be really nice. Nons, I bet we could have got that field goal unit out there on fourth. I do wonder. I do wonder. Oh, you’re talking about because the the clock was still running, poo. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, we doubt. There was a ton of time. Absolutely. There was a ton of time. I think the question is would that have been the right decision as opposed to going for it on fourth. I wouldn’t have been opposed. I’m like I’m not going to critique that decision too much. We went for it on on the fourth. Would have been like a 66 67 yard field goal in Chicago late November. It is BS though. So that’s why it’s like if we would have tried it, okay, cool. Whatever. You put your faith in Chris Boswell, why not? If anyone’s gonna make it in the league right now, it’s Chris Boswell. Talking about kicker, him and uh Aubrey with the Cowboys. Chris Arkrite. Fire Tomlin. I don’t even know if this is a like a Tomlin game. I don’t even know if this is a f like uh game where we’re talking about firing Tomlin as one of the main two or three talking flag. I don’t think this was like necessarily a bad Tomlin game. I mean, we’re out there with Mason in the back. Now, who decided to go with Mason? That was Tomlin. And we have been talking about how Rogers does give us a better chance to win. Does go back on Tolman from that standpoint, but it’s just it’s just a weird game, dude. Weird game with turnovers, the swings. Defense did take a step back for sure, but there were some points on turnovers. Offense let us down. But I I think I think why I’m not saying fire Tomlin or this isn’t a big Fire Tomlin reaction type of uh video here stream postgame report because we know what we got. Like this is this is this is what it is. like we’ve been there, done that with these cycles of having momentum, losing, feeling like the season’s hopeless. Like we’re we’re we’re getting back to like season season’s kind of hopeless again. That standpoint or uh that that that part of the cycle here. Yeah, we’ll probably win next week against the Bills. We’ll be back. It’s just it’s ultimately like never good enough to get us over the hump, get us over the edge. It’s like we like we know what it is. It’s I I don’t I don’t think this is like a terrible tingling game or anything like that. Caught off one at least. I think we we’ve gotten worse in terms of like us going out there looking incompetent, lack of preparation, clock management. I I think there’s way way more worse examples of games that you could put on common as being one of the one of the big reasons we lost. I I don’t know about this one. Who’s your trucker? You had better odds of the field goal than Mason Rudy. He sucks on the go balls. Mason on the go ball. I don’t know about that. He throws a good deep ball. What do you guys think of that? Yeah, we got Mason was trash today. Wasn’t great. I I don’t think he was god awful though. Move the ball on offense. He had his moments. Looking decent. Yeah, hold on, hold on, hold on. I There were some shitty calls from the ref all game and this this one was I didn’t understand it. Did you guys see it? Troy Palani. I I don’t know if the broadcasters explained it well enough for me, but whenever they showed the replay of the penalty on 500, the illegal formation, I’m like, “What? What are we talking about here?” Yeah, that didn’t help. The final draft definitely didn’t help. Jordan Janeiro 2323. Thanks to the fans with as low as me after every loss is sickening like we don’t have good wins on our resume this year too. Good win. Yeah, that Bengals won last week was good. Goodish Bengals are what though? I think that was a that was a big game from a defensive standpoint. being able to hold flack on that Bengals offense to 12 points. But from an overall team versus team, you know, Bengals are what their record is for a reason, too. I think our offense could have done a lot better against that Bengals defense throughout the majority of that game. Yeah, Bengals just lost to the Patriots that they’re what, three and eight. I think that was a good win for what we needed at the time, but that I mean that’s not looking as great right now. Uh yeah, we dominated the Browns, but that’s that’s what it should look like when you’re facing the Browns, Patriots, Colts. On paper, those are really good wins, but those that was the five and six turnover games where, let’s be real, Patriots and Colts were moving the ball on us. if it wasn’t for them self-imploding. Do we get out of those stadiums with Doves like that? Like we didn’t feel great about those wins after the games when they took place from a sustainability standpoint. You take the win. Like we’re not going to apologize for the win, but you’re like, “Ah, yeah. If uh Patriots don’t fumble at the goal line and Drake May throws a pick right to us down at the goal line.” That was three series of drives that they were about to at least get a field goal. Put up seven most likely. And we skate out of that game with what uh I don’t even remember what the Patriots final score was, but we won by one score. It might have only been like by a field goal. And same thing with the Colts. Similar thing with the Colts. Uh no, we Yeah, we won by a score with the Colts. We had six turnovers against the Colts and we we won by seven, I think. Uh what else? Hold on. In terms of good wins, this resume. Yeah. Uh Vikings that ah but that’s I mean that’s looking less and less like a good win, especially too whenever we let them come back in the fourth quarter. Listen, we’re six and five. like and whenever you look around the league and this is why I was saying if you’re if you’re going to talk about still trying to stay in this for the rest of the season and give yourself an opportunity to win the division, have a decent seating in the playoffs or something. Just position yourself well going down this home stretch to try to try to make the playoffs like this was the one to lose. If you want to talk about a silver lining, we’re still six and five. I think we’re still on top of the AFC North, right? Like, we should still be there. I know Ravens beat the Jets. Uh, let me actually double check right now. Uh, no, I see the Ravens. Yeah, they’re six and five. We don’t I guess we don’t have the tiebreaker right now, but again, everything’s still in front of us. We play the Ravens twice. play the Browns. So, got got division games, we got conference games. We could still make the playoffs if we, you know, it’s it’s not like we’re mathematically out of it, I guess, technically. I it but again, uh this is just where we’re at as a franchise. And like this isn’t what we should be talking about. If you’re discussing the Steelers standard, it it should be like, man, one, two seed, three seed. How do we get one of those seeds? We’re looking divisional game, AFC Championship game. That’s the type of stuff we’re talking about, right? like we’re back to, oh man, how do we how do we get a tiebreaker to squeak into the playoffs? Or like how could we somehow someway still win this division while the Ravens are getting hot and we’re consistently barely above the line going back and forth on that line of average and mediocrity. That this shouldn’t be the conversation when discussing the Steelers, but this is where we’re at. This is the state of the Steelers. This is the perpetual cycle we’ve been in for the last seven, eight years, and it’s been most prevalent since Ben’s retired. See, I think I think we’re going to we’re we’re like on the perfect pace for nine and eight. Perfect pace with this loss. We’re at six and five. We still got Dolphins, Browns. Let’s just say we win those. That gets us to eight. And then Ravens. I don’t think it would shock anyone. We split that. You got Lions Bills. Like I I think we’re on perfect pace for nine and eight tennis. Absolutely perfect pace. Now, does that get the job done for the division? Maybe with how the Ravens started this year. How they what were they? One and four, one and five. Definitely shot themselves in the foot, but we know they’re playing a lot better right now. Could Could that get it done to win the division? Maybe. I I wouldn’t do that. I wouldn’t do that. Shinsky 8114 says, “I’m putting money on the Steelers to lose the Dolphins and Browns game in embarrassing fashion.” No. Like the way we’re playing right like we’re not hot enough right now. We’re not hot enough. It’s like we’re we’re we’re doing the teetering and right now we’re on the low. So yeah, I I guess you got to see what the momentum or vibes are with this team going into those games because if yeah, if we if we have back-to-back wins, like big wins going into the Dolphins game or the Browns game and we’re on the highest of highs, that’s that’s when I think you can maybe bet that. But if we’re just if we’re like teetering on the like the high like the highs and lows, not feeling great about the season, that that’s those are the type of games where as we saw earlier against the Browns, we look like we’re supposed to. You’re like, “All right, yeah, this this is this is a good step. This is a good step in the right direction. Are we saying the same shit?” Per usual per usual after like a decent win. Oh, maybe we’re back. Watch out. No, I I I think we win the Dolphins and Browns games at at this clip. But let’s see. Yeah, if we beat When is the Let me look at the schedule actually right now. Let me tell you the scenario that maybe you could start to be concerned about a Tomlin loss approaching. So, we got Ste we got Steelers Bills next week, Steelers Ravens the following week. So, yeah. So the the Dolphins loss, if you want to be on high alert for a Dolphins loss, because it’s Dolphins after Bills and Ravens, it would be is if we beat the Bills and we beat the Ravens and we’re at 8 and five and like we have two solid wins against quality AFC opponents and then we got the Dolphins at home on Monday Night Football. That’s when you should be on high alert about a a loss there. But if we split those two games, then we we should we should beat the Dolphins. It will be an ugly win potentially. But we should beat the Dolphins. If we go 0 and two these next two games or split those two games, we’re beating the Dolphins. If we go two and 0, that’s when you go on high alert for a potential like let down game. Tomlin lost game. It is written. Like that’s that’s just how it goes. I don’t really write the rules. I’m just explaining it. You guys could tell me I’m wrong in the chat, but you I think you guys know what I’m saying. I would I Yeah, I think you’re too early on that take about predicting us losing embarrassing losses to the Browns and Dolphins. You got to see how these next couple weeks play out and where the momentum is, where the mojo is, because if we’re kind of down and out going into those games or it’s kind of like blleh, then we win. If we’re really high and people are talking about us being back, that’s when you’re on high alert. I think nine and eight, 10 and seven still in play. And does that get you to the playoffs? Does that get you the tiebreaker for a seven seed? Does that win the division with a tiebreaker over the Ravens? It might, but does that win you a game in the wild card? Does that get you a deep playoff run where you can be taken seriously, looked upon as a legitimate team? I’ll say this, like I I just don’t think the rest like if if we’re talking about New England being like the best team in the AFC, right? I don’t I don’t think they’re that good. I know we beat them with a lot of things in our favor with the five turnovers, but even when we played them, I just wasn’t that impressed. I’m not like that impressed when seeing them play on a week in week out basis. Big Bay is playing good. They don’t have a ton of weapons on offense, have a decent defense. Talking about them being the best team in the AFC, I I’m I’m not going that far. Now, they might finish that way as a one seed. But I I still think they’re early on their trajectory and they’re rebuilding stuff. I’m just not buying it. And then so after them, like Colts, not a big believer in them. Kansas City’s been all over the place this year, but they got Momes. Baltimore, we could beat them it feels like on any given Sunday just because of the rivalry. Obviously, they have Lamar Jackson. Bills look all out of place right now. all out of whack. Josh Allen’s not playing like I I just don’t I just I I don’t think it’s a conference that or like completely out of it completely completely out of it where you could say to yourself like why not any given Sunday that type of thing it’s It’s less about I would say that sentiment is less about the Steelers and what I’m witnessing take place over the course of this 2025 season when I watch the Steeler games. It’s less about that and more about I just don’t think the rest of the AFC is that good either. I don’t think a bunch of these other teams are that consistent. So, it’s like, hey, who knows? Maybe maybe we do hit a hot streak late in the season. We go on a little bit of a run just because who knows? But I don’t think we did ourselves favors with how we handled the receiver position. I I don’t think we’ve given ourselves the best of opportunities to do that. That’s that’s the unfortunate part. Just haven’t. And Roger Yeah, Roger Jones gets hurt hurt in this game, too. That doesn’t help. Offensive line’s been playing better, but damn. Yeah, I got someone in here agreeing with my take. Lillian Perez, the FC is weak and so are we. So there you go. That’s what I mean. Like could we the could we be could we somehow finish on top somehow someway and this week on a weird year or like Momes and Lamar Jackson just going into this week if you looked at the playoff picture the like the Ravens and the Chiefs were out of the playoffs. But now uh I now the Ravens aren’t probably if you look at the updated playoff picture. I just I just saw the standings on Google. They got us at the two spot. Ravens got the tiebreaker. So I think we’re out of the playoffs. But hey, if we split with the Ravens, we win in certain matchups that we need to beat certain AFC teams rest of the way. Who’s to say we’re not seven seed or winning the AFC North at the end of the season? And then it’s like, all right, if we got to play the Broncos, we got to play the Chargers. Maybe we have a home game. Do we win? Yeah. I mean, I just I I’m not that sold on all these other AFC teams like that. That’s why I’m like not completely giving up on the season. But it also does still feel like we’re in this continuous purgatory of relevant, but ultimately not good enough. I’m looking at the rest of the AFC, it doesn’t really feel like those teams are like that great either. It seems like those teams are not good enough at times. Now, they also got some quarterbacks in their primes that can, you know, turn it on when it comes playoff time if he comes not crunch time like Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, Patrick Mahomes. Herbert’s been shaky in some of these high stakes games, but Herbert’s I feel like he’s one of those dudes. But Roger I mean Rogers played good this year, man. We’ve been talking about Rogers playing good. I just don’t think our off our offense is missing something, man. It just is. It is. It’s missing that extra level. We We saw it against the Jets with the four touchdown game with Rogers. We saw it against the Bengals on Thursday Night Football. The Bengals defense was just so god awful. as a whole. We just haven’t hit a ceiling with our off. I didn’t I don’t know at this point if we’re getting there. Maybe we just are. I don’t know if Rogers changes the way our offense looks that much in this game against that does that ultimately give us a better chance to win though with him being in there because I I think he brings up a better floor as opposed to what Mason did because of Mason’s turnovers. Rogers only has one turnover in Could that have been the difference in Rogers better in the clutch versus Mason? Rogers gets us at least field goal at the end and maybe we go to overtime or maybe gets us the game winning drive. Yeah, but as a whole, I still think overall big picture were saying a lot of the same things with this offense, even if Rogers was out there where this is another game of not being close, us missing out on another receiver, us having too many tight ends out there, but the run game still looks good, but it’s like I feel like it only get so far. Glenn Hunter, what you think about if 42 doesn’t try to milk the trip? Yeah, bro. I brought that up earlier. I brought maybe you missed uh when I said that maybe about like 15 minutes ago. Yeah. What the hell was that? We deserve to get the timeout loss. We deserve like what what was going on trying to flop for an injury. It’s like bro the rules like if you’re injured and you got to stop the flow of the game even if the clock is stopped, you’re losing the timeout. God damn, man. Yeah, we deserve to lose that time. That was that was stupid play by Pierre. Stupid. I mean, I don’t I only saw the replay on that one time. They they showed this slowmo replay of him doing that. That looked like a flop. I don’t think he was actually hurt unless you guys tell me otherwise that Pierre he’s actually on the injury board after this game. That was that was god awful. That was that was playful type of [ __ ] right there. Juju H maybe I don’t think Juju’s ever done that. That’s Yeah, that’s some Clayool type stuff. And someone brought up the point though. You’re saying we take the timeout and we send balls out there for the kick. We I think we still could have got the field goal team out there. There was a there was a ton of time left. There was like 20 something seconds. It felt like we could have easily got the kicking team out there. I think the debate could be do you send balls out there would have been like a 66 yard I think. Was it from like 48? Usually you got to add like 17 or 18 from wherever the wall is at the line of scrimmage. Yeah, I’m not really going to belavor that decision to go for it versus sending balls out there. I think we could have sent balls out there. I would have been fine with it. Why not take a chance with the best kicker in the league? But also it’s a long ass juggle in Chicago the windy city. Although they don’t call Chicago the windy city because of the wind. But we know it is a windy city. It’s a windy city. Do you guys know that because of politics? It has something to do with like politics. You know how politicians were always wavering back going from side to side. There you go. Fun fact right there. Chicago is not called a windy city because it’s a windy city. It is a windy city, but that’s not why anything will Howard this just this wasn’t the game for Will Howard. I’m not No. And then especially if Rogers is coming back next week. No, you let Mason see that game out. He wasn’t playing at a Could he have cost us the game in moments? Yeah, I think so. I think so. But push came to shove. We had the chance. End of the game. Defense stepped up enough. Maybe got lucky because the running back tripped on himself on that one run on the final drive. But yeah, defense did enough. Tomlin and that that could have been a big talking point coming on the show here at the end of the game with Tomlin not going for it when we had the ball with the three timeouts. There’s like two minutes left. It wasn’t our own zone, but it’s like, bro, sometimes you you you gota you got to be a little bit aggressive here. You got to take the ball’s in your hands. Let’s try to get this first down because you still have a chance for it to be a one-sore game if your defense makes a stop if you go turnover on down. I get it to short field, but holding a field goal is still a one-sore game. At that point, whenever the the game gets in in those late stages in the fourth quarter, the clock becomes a huge factor. Sometimes it’s a more important factor than what the actual score is. As long as it be a one score game, doesn’t necessarily matter if it’s three points, six points, seven points. It’s just all about the time because either way, your defense have to make one stop. Could have made an argument to go for it. David Pal is a terrible punt by way. Got off the but yeah, defense made the stop. Ultimate made the stop. We got the ball back. two minute draft guy. You have Boswell, best kick in the league. Couldn’t get it done. Didn’t get it done. So, uh, you Yeah, I don’t think there was a point in the game where if Mason threw like three picks, sure. But, no, the game was imbalanced the whole time. I don’t think Mason, he wasn’t losing composure. He didn’t look incompetent out there. He didn’t look like the moment was too big. I don’t even blame him for the first. I told you guys that earlier in the show. I don’t even blame him. DK M like what mean the Chicago corner the guy that’s I think he’s a good corner. I don’t even think he’s like their third best corner maybe unreal play whereas DK Map is supposed to be our best guy thinking 30 million per year round to get by moving off score. I don’t know. We got Chicago’s third corner out outdueling DK on a one-on-one ball. 50 ball. Yeah, at this point Yam Rosari, I honestly think an injured Rogers would have done better than Rudolph. I think hindsight, yes, I’m I’m with you. But I did have the take that with Mason, we would have just been fine. I mean, we would have had as good of a 10, if not better, with Mason based off of Maybe that’s a stretch. Maybe that I just I just wanted to see another game with Mason after seeing second half against up to that point, our offense was a little bit sluggish the last like six quarters, two and a half games with Rogers. We saw some moments with Mason in there in the second half was standing tall in the pocket delivering some strikes. I was like, you know what to see Mason for another week just to see just to make sure now I feel like we know we made sure that the offense is in better hands for us. We made for we made. And if there is a game to make sure and it results in a loss, as I said, it was this game. It was this game against Chicago because it’s an NFC opponent on the road. Still got two Ravens games ahead of you. Another AFC North match up against the Browns. Couple more AFC games. Those are going to be more important when we’re talking about seating and making the playoffs, maybe winning the division when it’s all said and done in this game. I was wrong. I was wrong though. I was wrong. I was I feel like Yeah, Rogers wanted to play. Maybe we should have let him play. I’ll be interested to hear his comments. I don’t know when he’s going to talk to the media. It might not be till Wednesday because he wasn’t the starting quarterback in this one. I’m sure it’s Mason and Tomlin giving the main press conferences. And you guys are saying, “Well, Howard already next week pro.” That’s not It’s just not happening with us still being mathematically very much in the playoffs, very much in for the division. There’s just no way. There’s no way. It’s just it’s not happening. There’s no way. He basically didn’t play that bad. He didn’t play that bad. Ron Han is Rudolph the [ __ ] I don’t know about that. Solid solid backup. Solid what you need him to be. He’s like we I mean 28 point the offense moved the ball end up with 28 points to win it at the end. If you’re talking about you’re getting that from a backup on a road game. Yeah. It’s all back. That’s that’s all you’re asking for from a backup. Now, maybe I was delusional or maybe some people view Mason higher than that, then you’re going to get disappointment there from what Mason put out there. But if you’re just looking at it through the lens of Mason’s our backup, hey, that was that’s all you’re really asking for. Defense better. You’re talking about expectations. I do think the offense put the defense in the top spot at times. Bears got all those points off turnovers, but we know how highly paid the defense is. When on offense, we got a backup quarterback in, you got one receiver is getting paid like 30 million young guys on the offensive line. We don’t have too much invested in the offense. So, are you asking are you actually asking for that much more from a expectation standpoint? I had higher expectations for Rudolph, so I am disappointed. But like 28 points backup quarterback on the road against a good Chicago team. Now I know seven of those points came from the defense. 21 points keep the game in balance throughout the course of it. So I wouldn’t say Rudolph is [ __ ] I think that’s what I’m trying to get at. I’m saying fix audio. What’s wrong with my audio? You’re saying audio is bad. What’s What’s wrong with the audio? It might maybe it’s maybe it’s like the streaming service. I don’t know. Hold on. Saying it saying it’s reading good. Is it staticky? It’s [ __ ] The audio is weird. Has it been weird all day cutting in and out? How about now? It was anything now? Sounds muffled. Been bad. My bad. My bad, guys. Some saying it’s fine. It’s saying my mixer’s plugged in. Sounds you get out of water and then back in. Way better. Okay. Yeah, it must I I think it was pressed up against my mic stand maybe. I don’t know. Okay. Way better. Damn. My bad. My bad. I wish I saw I saw one comment earlier saying the audio was bad, but I only it was just one comment. So, I’m thinking maybe it’s like their computer or something, but then I just saw multiple comments saying it. So, okay. My bad. I be I’ll be anything missing from an assessment standpoint. Maybe you guys don’t even agree with what I’m saying. Slay didn’t really play much today. Slay didn’t play much and I wasn’t opposed to that. I think Pierre played good for the most part. Later in the game, he gave up the player, too. That might have been in zone. I feel like it was zone. We were playing a lot of zone. It felt like a lot of zone. And Caleb Williams was missing us in the zone. A dropping. That’s good. Yeah, we keep dropping these picks. We keep dropping some of the opportunities that are given to us. Caleb Ryan says Kyle Duggar had a drop, but he had a big game. He played all right. He played all right. Gave up the touchdown. I feel like he had decent coverage though. Wasn’t he on Was he on Lovelin on that touchdown? He was on one of the one of those like slant touchdowns. Him, Ramsey, and I think Pierre gave up the touchdown, too. Yeah, we talked about I think overall Duggar’s been Duggar’s been solid. Duggar’s been stabilizing forcing that safety him and Ramsey. But yeah, secondary, however you want to little bit of a step back. It’s not like it’s not like the Bears were like bashing us too much because we had the time of possession. I think we had more yards and that’s why I just this was a weird game. I I actually don’t feel like as a whole we played terrible. I’m not really [ __ ] on the defense like that bad. We did get a touchdown. There was some splash. I think they played good and good enough in moments. It just we weren’t we weren’t playing good enough in a timely moment like trying to step up and get a stop after we turn the ball over on offense. That wasn’t good. But felt like the defense was holding. They weren’t It wasn’t like against real flag on Thursday Night Football. You get what I’m saying? Yeah. Total yards 328s. We held them under 100 rushing yards and that’s a pretty big feat against this bear Bears offense. I mean 99 yards of rushing. That’s not bad. That’s I mean that’s actually not bad considering what Chicago’s done on the ground this year. And then you’re looking at the passing game only 239 yards in the like I say only but it’s not like it’s not like 300 that’s not like 350. That’s that’s like an average game in the league these days. I bet you Caleb Williams overunder for passing yards was around like 239. Probably 220 239. But they got some short fields. They got some momentum off of the turnovers and they took advantage. So, it is on the defense. It’s like, can we get can we get the timely stop? Maybe just hold them to a field goal. After the turnovers, you guys are getting paid a lot. Same time, offense, we didn’t play necessarily like great complimentary football, but I think as a whole, the offense still was moving the ball. We we had some good things as a whole. Defense did have its moments. Held the Bears under 100 yards rushing. Wasn’t anything like crazy explosive Chicago did against us. Kept a lid on it for the most part. We got some splash, got got some fumbles. One of them ended up in a touchdown. But then it’s I don’t know. Then it just comes down to like where are we going with this? Like what are we even talking about with this [ __ ] Is this going to matter? Is this going to matter? Uh Jordan Janeiro 2323 Arthur Smith play calling kills us in big moments. I I think our personnel I I mean is it Arthur Smith just doing what he can with what he got from a personnel and roster standpoint? We ran the ball good. I mean, we ran the ball pretty good this game. We’ve been running the ball pretty decent. We don’t have anything outside of that. It feels like from a passing standpoint. We don’t we don’t have a number one we can rely on. We don’t have guys after our number one that we can rely on to that extent either. Maybe you can make that argument. Where where was our negative run plays? Maybe you can make that argument. Jay Bobby, we didn’t run it enough. I agree. Metaf has been a huge disappointment. And obviously what Pickkins has been doing with the Cowboys doesn’t doesn’t help. Yeah, it doesn’t help when Metaf’s disappointing over here. When we had Pickkins and he’s like a top three receiver in the league right now. All right, I don’t know if I got anything else for you guys. I really don’t. I’ll be back tomorrow. Thanksgiving this week. something to look forward to. Thanksgiving, uh, big Bills game at home. Like this Bills game, we could win. We could easily win, right? Easily win. Bills aren’t that good. They do got Josh Allen, but defense really ain’t all that. And they’re not really protecting Josh Allen that well. Like he’s he doesn’t It’s almost like us, he doesn’t feel like he has enough weapons around him on offense. He’s turning the ball over. So, we get a couple turnovers against the Bills. Rogers comes back, we take care of the ball on offense, we could definitely win like 2420 at home. Would anyone be surprised? Would anyone be surprised? So, that’s what I mean. Uh, like I’m not feeling great about this squad right now, but who knows, bro? Who knows? I’m not feeling great about the rest of these AFC teams either, though. All right, stay chilling. I’m out of here. Uh, see you guys tomorrow. Peace.

Pittsburgh Steelers x Chicago Bears Postgame Report

  1. Sure, Deke. The Steelers had their chances, just like they have a chance to take advantage of a weak conference. But they’re not getting it done with their repetitive inconsistency of play. They just don’t seem capable of pulling it all together. In moving forward, our home game against the Bills, a team who really struggles on the road, is the last chance for the Steelers to prove they can stay in the playoff race.

  2. Deke you're smoking on that snoop bud man… This team is trash. They need to get rid of Arthur Smith. All we did was throw the ball 2 yards through the air. Even if Rodgers played we wouldn't have won with that game plan… It didn't dawn on Arthur Smith to throw to our tight ends until 8 minutes left in the 4th with the bears having 4 linebackers out… Absolutely trash performance from offense, defense and especially special teams. We're the only team that has the opponents starting at least on their own 35 or 40 yard line

  3. I wouldn't say Mason couldn't get it done, I would say the coach couldn't get it done with the plays called to try to get the first down in put us in field goal range. Overall we suck and probably will end the season 8 and 9 or 9 and 8 but no playoffs
