Bart Scott, Willie Colon, & Connor Rogers on Aaron Glenn’s questionable coaching in Jets’ loss

Jets fall 9:37 in Baltimore this
afternoon, now 2 & 9 on the season. And fellas, you
know, they look good, especially in that first half
really de. Specially defensively holding the Ravens
to just 72 yards out offensively. But there are a
couple of things in the second half that you can really point to and
say, okay the game turned, their one was the decision by
Aaron Glenn. To go for it in his own territory on their first
drive of the second half. Did not go well in the Ravens
ultimately scored a second touchdown after that and the second was
the The breeze Hall. Fumble. Let’s start with the decision
though. To go for it on Fourth and two, I believe in their own
territory, after the Ravens of taking the lead. I felt like
Aaron glantz should late morning’s defense understanding
where, you know, they were in the game
and understanding that the Ravens couldn’t March the
field, right? All the scores they have was basically short
fields and I think that Eric Lang got anxious if that’s if that’s the
proper time. There’s anxious and I thought, you know, it really
put the team in a downward spiral because And the Raven comes down and then they score. And then now you start
panicking, you know, as a as a defense, you
pretty much dominated the game on the defensive side
of the ball yet you see yourself down and if that’s so then give up a
touchdown on fourth down is also you know, crippling as well but I think it started with the
pass interference and then it continued with a bad decision to
go for it in your own territory. Yeah, I think there’s
a there’s a fine line between aggressive and being
dumb. That was dumb. I’m not trying to
be. Missive. I have a lot of respect for are glib, but you’re
looking at a team right now defensively, who’s putting up a hell of a
fight. Lamar Jackson is obviously, we said it is missing
a step. He wasn’t liking you up with his legs.
There’s opportunity just staying this stay in Striking
Distance, Ryan Smith with the office right now, with what just showed that
listen, if they continue to feed Breeze, Hall, through the
second half. This could have been a different outcome because
the way he was playing them with lining things up. So
he just had this thing is not Detroit. The that’s okay, I get what you did
in Detroit is not Detroit, Don’t have a Detroit tight team.
This team is really trying to figure out what they
could do on this Saturday, let alone for the rest of the
season. So I just thought it was just didn’t make sense at
that moment and it cost him. I was late again. It’s a tricky one, right,
because they know maybe they don’t feel this but
the spread indicates there are much lower. Tiered team than
Baltimore maybe they felt the way things went in the first
half wasn’t sustainable and that at some point they had to
be aggressive. I think my bigger issue more so than
going for it, because they’re trying to be aggressive trying
to surprise the Ravens and they did a good. Good job of that in
the first half is I just don’t understand why Bruce Hall, is
not on the field in those situations, it’s multiple fourth
Downs this year where Bruce Hall is not on the field and I get he
can’t be out there for every snap but on a 4th and short
where you’re throwing the ball, he is your best pass catching
short area threat. And I think that takes away attention from
the defense that can open things up elsewhere so maybe that’s
something they have to look back and go. If we’re going to
go for it in this situation, we got to be prepared with the
right Personnel package and I didn’t think they had that set
up, right? When you look at the difference
between First half and the second half
defensively at least because, you know, I think I agree that obviously the result of the play
was crippling for this team and the results in the next
drive. It changed everything in the game, but I do
understand on some level the logic of going forward there
especially in a 2 and 8 season. However however, I don’t know, I
know you don’t, I don’t understand a lot, don’t
I call the stupid you have to read the room and read the game,
like it’s better. If Lamar Lamar through 453 yards, Right and Derrick Henry
ramp a 64 yards. They have no explosiveness right now the mar
looks like you got him under control. He can’t hurt you with
his feet. They did a great job in plans on punt the
ball and you can flip the field position knowing that
you can get the ball back and
you were moving the ball decently
against their offense, right? Tie rod was hitting you office
and met you was open. Like so this was this wasn’t a
game where you just feel like, oh, we can’t sustain any offense
getting thing going on there. So go forward on the 40,
understanding that you go for it on your You don’t get it,
that they’re right there, five yards, and field goal range. And now you flip the field and now they get any type of
score and now you down. Two scores were so now you have to
press and not stick to the Run game, stick to going with your
game plan because now you understand that you’re not a to
score come-from-behind type on offense. Like that was an
opportunity to believe in your defense and people might say
bark. Well, he was doing that because he did believe in his
defense. I didn’t know. It wasn’t about that. Believe me,
your defense is putting the ball and trying. To pin them
deep, and make them have two marks, 93
yards with something, they couldn’t do. I don’t think they
had a drive longer than 40 or 50 yards. Nothing was quick
enough for them up front. Especially when you see when you
saw them are in a pocket and they say I think them
switching from Zone to man and coming out of
that you saw him looks tagging in the pocket in the office
launched started. Getting penalties. You started seeing
him on hinge. That’s a bar saying like if you believe you
in defense, let your defense go eat because two people that
didn’t have a big game that I wanted them to have.
A big game was Will McDonald’s Jermaine
Jackson now you The opportunity. Hey boys, we going
to let you go. See if we can get some. Now, you let your
eaters go eat and that didn’t happen. So, yeah. I do this,
then it just, it didn’t seem like it was the smart thing to
do. In that moment, I want me to be redundant. No, you’re not being redundant
at all. I think it’s, I mean, obviously, it’s not just a fair argument,
probably the right argument. I just when I say, I understand,
I think sometimes when a team is 2 and 8 it’s like, alright,
well, what do we have to lose? But what I was going to ask is obviously in that first half
defensively, the team was fantastic. Yeah,
defensively in the second half wasn’t like
they were terrible, but the Ravens were able to do some
different things. So, what was, what was the difference in? What
you guys saw from the unit? Whether it was Ravens
making adjustments or the Jets defense getting exposed little
differently. First have to second half, it
would just situational football, right? Like they got
the big, you’ll throw the ball up on the scramble drill. You
know, I forgot who they was Isaiah,
Oliver didn’t get his hair turned around, but it was just
that that was the explosive play, the explosive play with
the pass interference and then the other Opportunity, you can say that
was explosive or situational football was changing
possession. You know, when you go for it on fourth down, it was
no other big plays. It was no other big completions. Lamar
Jackson was off. He couldn’t complete the pass to DeAndre
Hopkins and ends on. It wasn’t like they flowers was
going crazy. Mark Andrews one dictating the the game Baltimore
had a lot of drops that was a bad office of game
for them that they’re going back and saying man we got away
with one thank God that the first person
to Blink like when you playing this chess match and we’ve been
in a bunch of these where it’s like just keep going to play. The smart play, don’t beat
ourselves. Let them make the first big mistake. In the
first big mistake was going to
order your own territory.

  1. we are on the right track believe it or not, screw the getting wins, its literally irrlevant. no one going to remember that we got 4 wins this season instead of 2, what they will remmeber is when we think long term, and make the playoffs next year or hopefully year after. in order too do that, we have to be consistantly show that we are trying to win games, but no actully win. the oppurtunity cost of us losing, and get a higher pick as possible, is way more likely to help us, then a moral win. The players that are there to stay will stay, and players like quicy will be gone next season. browns got the win as well, which helps our chances of a higher pick. lets keep it tight, but please do not win another game. lets think longterm.

  2. Ravens played as badly as you could have hoped. This is the same old Jets in the sense that the other team can lay an egg and the Jets can’t get it together enough to make them pay.

  3. Them bashing Glen on the 4th down is crazy. I feel like this team has too many holes where talent should fill those holes. If it was Andy Reid we wouldn’t hear a peep. Im so happy that we finally have a great GM that finally accumulated enough picks to fill those holes. Even with Sauce and Q a normal amount of picks woundnt have saved this roster. The previous GMs left this team destroyed and only a complete rebuild would help us. The coaching is great because even with a 2 win team players are still going out there and playing super hard. Jets fan just wait till we get these holes filled the league is in trouble.

  4. I thought the whole point of pulling fields was because he hesitated and didnt let the ball go… yeah taylor got 220 yards… but he did the exact same thing, only difference is he's slower. Put Cook in and see what he can do at this point, we got nothing to lose

  5. This staff has a lot of learning to do and by the time it actually starts to make progress Woody's patience as usual will be gone and so will these coaches. And round and round the Jets misery cycle continues.

  6. Surely we’ve got something better to talk about than a 4th down gamble that didn’t work. Might as well complain about losing the coin toss.

Could we attempt to dive a little deeper than the surface level analysis of my aunt that only watches on Thanksgiving maybe?

Maybe some player analysis, talk about all the unexpected schematic successes today, idk. Lazy takes. They praised him two weeks ago when it worked

  7. The defense and offense was doing decent job of keeping the team in the game. It was a game of field position and penalties. Not punting the ball on 4th down was a bad idea. At least try to kick for 3pts

  8. Frauds. 1 TD. Bitching and moaning all year about Justin Fields like he was holding the team back when it's clearly the system. You've now seen 8 straight quarters from Tyrod and the offense produced 1 TD. Ya'll trash, call it even.

  9. AG supposed to be building a culture; he should build a culture of smart football not river-boat gambler, the team doesn't have the talent for that yet. The team doesn't have the pieces to recover from fumbles at the goal line, PI, and turn-over on downs in your own end. Play the field position game, play smart, make sense with your strategy. I can only hope these are first year mistakes we won't be seeing again next year.
