  2. Don’t think it makes much difference. The team is gonna be terrible regardless of who’s managing it in 2026. At least he’s a guy the players they have seem to like. Just a tank commander, anyway.

  3. Eh. Fine. Might as well give him a chance. With everything else going on we have bigger problems than our skipper. Plus if we can actually showcase that we are moving into somewhat of the modern era we might be a more attractive gig then we are right now.

Ultimately the best manager in the world ain’t leading this team to a pennate so we might as well give him a shot while we figure out our front office

  4. So much for thinking the DePodesta hire was a change in organizational philosophy. I imagine we’ll announce a lifetime contract for Warren Schaeffer, too, because that’s the Rockies way.

  5. lol.. just when you think the organization is moving forward.. it then takes a step back..

  6. What veteran manager would want to come coach the team fully knowing it might be a few years before they’re competitive? If Warren is good then awesome, you didn’t let a good manager get away. If he’s bad then we’ll know by the time it actually matters if they have a good manager.

  7. I’m sure the first reactions will be same old
Rockies but this isn’t that big a deal. He may be sticking around so we have a weak manager that won’t push back against the FO

  8. I’m fine with this. I thought he had the boys playing hard towards the end despite the terrible record. I doubt there’s many managers lining up for the job.

  9. I don’t think this has anything to do with Depodesta’s philosophy. We are going to still suck and the players love Schaeffer. The real tea leaves are the pitching staff fires up and down the org and watching roster moves and trades and free agency. I have hope.

  10. I don’t think the manager is the issue so I’m fine with it. Get everything else fixed first, get talent and then you’ll see whether manager is an issue. Then if you have talent you might be able to attract some good candidates

  11. I know he was just an interim and should be judged with a grain of salt…

But seriously this decision saps away any shred of confidence I may have had in this organization actually changing anything. Say he miraculously improves his Win % by 30% of this year’s performance—he’s still going to lead the team to 100 losses.

We once again return to hiring someone who’s been a part of the organization for 20 years

  12. Someone who has strong opinions about why this is bad please tell me all your insights on Schaeffer?

The only thing people want is change for changes sake? He was an interim manager for the worst roster in team history….he doesn’t build the 26/40 man roster, FYI.
