Now the apology is only coming after he got caught and punished and is feeling the backlash of his actions. At that point, an apology is always going to look and feel insincere. Someone with good character would have immediately taken responsibility for a poor action in the midst of a heated moment regardless of the consequences. However, he thought he could get out of the consequences by lying, and it didn’t work. Classic “sorry I got caught” apology.
