What QB Max Brosmer Brings to the Minnesota Vikings with JJ McCarthy Out

What’s going on, Jeromes? So, this team literally cannot be normal ever at all, right? And we talked about it it may literally we we just put out right before the Comic Con press conference that hey, it it might be good for JJ McCarthy’s development long term to take a little break, make a little love get down tonight, uh, and let Max Bro show, take the reigns, see what you got and all that stuff. And apparently so Kevin Col announced as press conference that JJ McCarthy is in the concussion protocol and if he can’t go on Sunday Max bros show would be quarterback one. All right. And also you we got a lot of comments. Well, you believe in JJ McCarthy. How dare you? Blah blah blah. I believe in whoever the hell is the quarterback of this damn team except for Kurt Cousins at times. Man, I have so many memes of believing that Kellman is the future franchise quarterback of the Vikings. Texas A&M gigum. Wait, no, that’s that’s the other that’s the other Texas. Josh Dobs, a passion. Hey, a lot of people be like, “Oh, I didn’t believe in Josh Dobs.” Bologoney. Dude sold 75,000 jerseys in a week. They were all repurposed number 15 Greg Jennings jerseys, by the way. Uh, and also Nick Mullins. Look at me. Look at me. I’m the captain now. And also, of course, jumping Jiren Hall aka the Mormon missile. So, don’t tell me about believing in quarterbacks. I believe whoever’s under center. Also, you’re going through some of those folders, man. We got some good times on this show. Anyways, but Max Bromer, the bro show, uh, signed as a UDFA with the Vikings uh, this off seasonason. Got 250K guaranteed big-time deal uh, keeping the local product. And Brosmer’s story is interesting. So, turned 24 in March 627. The pride of Rozbow Joa Joa took his talents up to New Hampshire. the pretty standard Roswell Georgia to New Hampshire pipeline. Yeah. Uh but four-year starter for the New Hampshire Wildcats. Yeah. Uh second team all-American 2023, finalist for the Walter Payeyton Award, uh which is the FCS Heisman. And everything was copacetic. Everything was good to go. Took his talents to the Gophers. Woo. That’s right, man. PJ Fleck actually getting something done. Uh and and um and Brosmer completed 66.5% of his passes, a second best in Gver’s history behind Tanner Morgan perhaps. In fairness, Tanner Morgan started for nine years, so he’s got a larger sample size to work with. But uh did set a record for number of completions in a season with 268 uh 28 28 yards passing that year, 18 touchdowns, six picks, 7.24 yards per attempt, 137.2 quarterback rating, which is good. But also remember, college quarterback ratings can go up to 2,000. Actually, I don’t think there’s a theoretical cap on that. So, it’s not the NFL passer rating. I’m sure that that’s around 100 or something, but uh 8 and five record, you know, led the Gophers to a win over Duke uh in the Well, no, they won the Duke Mayo ball over Virginia Tech. So, there you go. Uh and Brosmer, you know, coming on in, you know, went undrafted, obviously. Uh but you know, five years starting experience, reads progressions with speed, quick release, getting rid of the rock, solid footwork, and doesn’t have a rocket arm, but accurate over the first two levels, throws in that anticipation, works best on schedule. All of that, literally all of that is the opposite of JJ McCarthy, right? And you know, God bless JJ McCarthy. I I still think that he’s going to be that guy. But there’s just a lot of things that they got to tear down to rebuild his mechanics and work through in the off season. You can’t do that in season, but literally everything that McCarthy has been lacking, getting rid of the football and being accurate, Max Bromer has. Still pretty crazy, man. And of course, you got to lean into the tropes and all the jokes like, “Oh, this is our version of Tre Lance, Jimmy G, and Brock Pery with JJ playing the the the role of no pants or Trey Lance.” Uh, Carson Wentz is the veteran who died like Jimmy Garopppolo. And then Bros show undrafted. Perie, the last pick of the draft, it’s working itself out. A and we’ve seen it in in training camp in preseason like Brosmer’s look pretty damn good. And you know, stats-wise, you know, nothing to write home about, but also, yes, he is playing threes generally, but also he’s playing with threes. Although against Tennessee, the Titans are the their first team defense. I mean, Jeffrey Simmons was out there against Max Bromer, so hopefully the moment won’t be too big for him. But, you know, he put up some numbers, looked pretty good, threw with anticipation, and just got rid of the damn rock, which is great. Of course, all the coaches say that he lives at TCO Performance Center Bar and Grill. Uh, he’s all about preparation. He’s all about getting in there. And Okonnell had some really good things to say about his confidence in Bromer at the press conference today. Uh this uh quote pulled by our guy Will Rag at Sports Illustrated. A ton of confidence in Max Bro show. All he’s done since he’s been here is show up every single day and respond and answer the bell. Whether it’s stepping in for some reps when guys were dinged up previously this year with the first group or if you look at it from a standpoint of what his absorption of the offense was throughout his first day here all the way through training camp playing in some of those games playing against the Titans first team unit in that preseason game defensively and moving the team and getting the ball out and seeing things at a veteran level type of eye progression. You could just tell like Kevin McConnell. Yeah. And his quarterback Whisper like this is this is clim climactic stuff here. I I think we all have a lot of confidence in Max. Ideally, you’d love to have a bunch of runway for him to continue on his journey, but I know Max will prepare like crazy like he does every week. He’s been a snap away here since Carson wins on IR and he was a snap away when JJ was hurt with that high ankle sprain. And I know he feels very much prepared if called upon. He’s going to go out uh about the week as he’s been doing, which is important for a guy who is one snap away as a young player. How many reps can we steal pre-practice, postpractice? He does all the little things to try and help himself uh get himself ready if he were to be called upon. That may be indeed that may be indeed this week. We don’t know yet, but we’ll we’ve got to prepare our team for sure. And I I feel like it is going to be Bromer this week because if McCarthy is truly in the concussion protocol, I don’t see him clearing by Wednesday. And Okcon’s going to want his quarterback, whoever it is, to have three full days of practice heading into Seattle. And if McCarthy doesn’t clear by Wednesday, he’s not going to get those three days. So, I I I think that if McCarthy is not good to go by hump day, especially this being a weird weekend, Thanksgiving, I think it’s going to be uh the bro show. Plus, you know for a fact that because the NFL is stupid that Brosmer is going to go up there and light up the Seahawks elite defense and then all of a sudden Brosmer is going to go on a linenity run the rest of the season. Uh just so you know, Vikings fans have something to think about in the offseason. Do we roll with the Bros show? Do does JJ McCarthy and his mechanics improve this off seasonason? Go with him. I want a full-blown quarterback controversy because that’s what will be the best for the Vikings right now. And don’t get me wrong, I still love and believe in JJ McCarthy. Again, I have the Kellan memes to prove it. I am loyal to the soil. Whoever is under center with this damn foot purple football team, woo, right? And if it’s McCarthy, if it’s Brosmer, if it’s whatever, it’s fine. Hey, the whole thing of Whoa, if you have two quarterbacks, you have none. No, Bologna, you have two good quarterbacks. So, let’s let’s get Bromer revved up, ready to go. He’s got an FU offense surrounding him. He’s got an advantageous defense that if they can play with the lead for the first time in forever certainly would be good. And just get rid of the football, distribute the rock. You got Jefferson, you got Addison, you have this offensive line that hopefully will be back together depending on the health of Darasaw and Donovan Jackson. And they’re going to be able to run the ball and just get rid of the football accurately. That’s all that you need to do, right? Is it bad that I have a oddly good feeling about this? I feel like things are going to work out. Every little thing is going to be all right, man. But we’ll see. Anyways, uh let us know your thoughts. We’re all stars now in the bro show. It’s right, man. Uh let us know comment section. You guys are the best. You know what to do. Skull production value.

With JJ McCarthy in the concussion protocol, here’s what quarterback Max Brosmer brings to the Minnesota Vikings.

  1. I blame KOC for thinking JJ was ready. The QB whisperer got high on his own supply. Kwesi too bc $340M race car given to drive by a pimple-faced permit holder.

  2. People keep being like “but even if it’s bad, JJ needs the reps to develop” but he’s literally regressed since returning from injury. He is raw beyond belief. The only “harm” I see from brosmer starting is that brosmer shows talent and potential which makes the decision to force JJ looks even worse for the front office

  3. KOC and the GM are not capable of determining who will be a decent QB or not. Hell, McCarthy's college stats were not top tier'd. Hell, the Michigan coach said several times he relied on other players to make plays during their championship run. As I set here right now I'm wondering if the Mormon Missile would have played out well enough, maybe not QB1 may yes. His last two preseason games he showed significant improvement and in one game a nearly perfect QBR rating. I'm not advocating for Hall but I saw improvement and maturity. I am sick of people hyping players like this McCarthy kid when he's not going to deliver. The hype was madness at a hypersonic level….should be embarrassing to those who bought into him. I don't love and believe in him………

  4. Your coach made us endure the Carson whence experience a few weeks back. My seahawks will make you pay for doing that to me. Bring your new quarterback who I did want to see play in that game. He can bring JJ's little black dog with him if he wants to.

  5. Calling it now for posterity: Bro Show LIGHTS IT UP, unequivocally becoming QB1, pulls a (non-playoff) Sam Darnold and leads the team to win out the rest of the schedule, taking us to the playoffs.

  6. Going into last Sunday I had 0% faith in JJ/KOC — and they delivered for the L but I kept my sanity.

I think Brosmer will be fieldable and I’ll go into the game with a 25% confidence rating for a competitive game.

  7. Not exactly how i thought Brosmer may get his shot and i hope McCarthy gets well soon. But look out the Bro show is comin!! The world will finally get to see what was hiding behind the curtain!! We still have much to improve upon in all phases but with the right QB behind the helm their jobs get much easier. We just need KOC to make better decisions. SKOL!!!!💨💨🏈🏈

  8. It's not hard to miss on 1st rounds. I've been watching Vikings misses for 50 years. I think the best thing for jj is to learn how to be a back up qb. Lots of guys have made careers and nice money for going this way. I wonder what made them think this guy could succeed in the NFL? He basically was a hand off qb. Live and learn I guess.

  9. Concussion protocol??!??! I had to look to see if you were actually kidding. This is stupid. Either McCarthy is actually made of glass or they just put a pacifier in his mouth. Look, I as much as anybody want the Vikings to win, but at this point I worry that means replacing most of the team, coaching, and front office. Historically though, they never seem to get replaced with the right people. Sigh, another season of this. ☹
