I didn’t think I could wake up literally five minutes ago and feel so many different emotions, but man, it feels good to be a Giants fan today. They are moving on from defensive coordinator Shane Bowen. It had to happen. It needed to happen. He cost you not one, not two, not three, not four, but five fourth quarter leads. It’s actually insane when you say that out loud. The New York Giants, I believe, are two and five this year when they hold or held a 10-point lead. You held a 10-point lead seven times this year. And the fact you only won two of them is insane. A little bit too late, like every single move in the Joe Shane era, but I’m happy it happened. It needed to happen. Um, there was no other choice for the New York Giants but to make this move. I mean, were you going to let Shane Bowen coach your team again next week after blowing yet again another 10-point lead? I actually didn’t think the New York Giants were going to fire Shane Bowen. I thought there was a really strong chance they could do it last week after the loss to I get all these 10-point fourth quarter leads blown uh mixed up. Even though this one wasn’t a 10-point Packers Packers wasn’t a 10 10point fourth quarter lead, but that was the one last week, but um yeah, it should have been last week. I it absolutely should have, but it’s not going to be. But you know what? He’s gone. He’s the boogeyman is gone. The guy that has singlehandedly tanked the New York Giants 2025 season has been removed from the building. and he is no longer the coach of this football team. If you’re fired up that the New York Giants have fired Shane Bowen, if you’re fired up the New York Giants are showing they care about their fans again. It is being reported that Charlie Bullan is being named the Giants interim defensive coordinator. That is a little bit interesting to me. Uh there were some other people on this staff that have been acting defensive coordinators before. Andre Patterson was the acting defensive coordinator for the Minnesota Vikings under coach Zimmer. Zim was the lead dog as the Dcoordinator, but Andre was labeled the defensive coordinator and the assistant head coach. And then Markwan Emanuel, your defensive back coach. He was a defensive coordinator in this league for the Atlanta Falcons where he did call plays on a down out down in down out basis. So the Giants are going with Charlie Bullan who was their outside linebacker coach to be their new defensive coordinator. Tom Pelosero saying Bullan 41 is highly thought of in the building. Now he gets six weeks to show what he can do. And that is another good part of this. Like the Giants are now giving someone else on this team an opportunity to go and win this job and win games for this team. Like all along you knew that Shane Bowen was not going to be the defensive coordinator next year. So, why not go and try to win games this year? Um, or why not try to figure out who the defensive coordinator could be for next year? Um, that is what I um would do. It is good to be right. All right. So, the New York Giants have gone out and fired Shane Bowen. Charlie Bowen has been named the interim Giants defensive coordinator. And look, I don’t want to just rip him. And I’ve done that enough and it’s not even fun to rip Shane Bone anymore. But this was a hire that I really was never even a fan of. I remember I did a video the day after the Giants hired Shane Bowen, trying to come up with reasons to make people excited and to make myself excited and to believe that he could be the defensive coordinator of this team, but it just never made that much sense. I I remember yesterday um Brian Ael on Hard Knocks seeing Joe Shane walk by his office, come in here. He shows him the notes on the iPhone. He’s like, “Look, you see this? We got to hire this Shane Bowen guy. First and run defense, first in red zone defense, Ben don’t break. blah blah blah blah blah. Well, yeah, he was the defensive coordinator on the Tennessee Titans when Mike Vrabel was calling the plays. Like it was uh it it never made sense. It it just never did. You you you have the worst run defense in the National Football League. The Giants have blown four four The Giants have blown five. I can’t even think. The Giants have blown five fourth quarter leads of 10 plus points this season. tied for the most in a single season NFL history. Um I don’t even know if that’s accurate. Uh it’s three double digit leads in the fourth quarter. Five double-digit leads total. Um but yeah, it doesn’t matter. Doesn’t matter. If we had to lie and fabricate the truth um to to get Shane Bowen fired, we did it. Thank goodness we did it. Um, I keep on looking at this picture of all of the fourth quarter leads that the New York Giants have built since he has taken over as the defensive coordinator. And it just doesn’t make sense. You’re winning 37 to 34 with 14 seconds left against the Dallas Cowboys. You were winning 26-8 against the Denver Broncos with 5 minutes and 19 seconds left. You’re winning 20-10 against the Bears with 358 left. You’re winning 27-7 against the Detroit Lions with 10 minutes and 57 seconds left. And you’re winning 20 to9 with 5 minutes and 50 seconds left. And you were up 14-3 uh in the second quarter against the Saints. But it’s over. The Shane Bowen o era is over. The Giants have fired him. They are moving on. And let’s go.
