Edmonton Oilers News: Injury Updates | Goalie Trade Talk | Changes Need or Coming?

Hey friends, this is Dolan TV. Glad to have you aboard here tonight as we get set up for some Oilers news and of course trying to chat all about that 30 game mark coming up for the Oilers as changes underway to the systems and stuff, albeit minor. Nothing to get too crazy about. The Oilers admitting it themselves. That said, there’s some lineup notes. There’s some situations with the Dallas Stars that we also have to get to and then we’ll move on to talking about what’s so important over the next several games leading to December 9th and of course what the most likely outcome in my opinion will be. So if you’re new to the channel, friends, consider hitting that subscribe button. Join up. Hey, you know what? We’re closing in on 20,000 subscribers. Currently sitting at 18 360 here this afternoon. So love to have you aboard as a regular viewer on the channel. Subscribing is easy, free to do, so definitely make sure to do that if you haven’t already. And if you have, thank you so much. And if you watch regularly and not subscribed, that’s appreciated as well. All right, so the other notes, uh, we’ll get to this right now and then we’ll get to the Edmonton Oilers news. So this just kind of a precursor for what’s going on for the Oilers against the Dallas Stars tomorrow. Miko Rantin will serve his oneame suspension for obviously his actions over the past several uh, games here leading into this one. kind of two 10-minute misconducts and just disaster class from Randon Kapn and Walman according to Jason Greger won’t play for sure tomorrow. R&H himself said he wasn’t sure about tomorrow. We’ll discuss with the team. So, you know, we have several guys banged up right now, right? Noah Phelp Curtis Lazar also about a week out and that’s where we go to Tony Ber today with the update completely. Could return for new Hopkins. It’s questionable Tuesday, but could return Saturday in Seattle. That seems all the more likely. That’s kind of what we’ve been targeting this whole time is that very tail end of November, very first day of December. Captain and Walman will not play Tuesday. And Philip and Lazar will, as I said, be out at least a week as we lead in to what is going to be a pivotal stretch for the Edmonton Oilers and this hockey team. Right, that’s five guys. very important to this squad. Again, Lazar was supposed to be quote unquote 13th forward that could provide a spark on that fourth line. Kappan, you know what, he has two points in eight games so far this year. So, he’s not been terrible. And Walman, obviously, what he’s done for this Oiler squad so far this year has been pivotal. And Noah Phelp trying to develop here at the NHL level just needs time, but it’s hard to get time when you’re injured. Newton Hopkins, by the way, point per game so far this NHL season. So, I mean, right, I I think that would be a pivotal forward to have in the lineup, and I don’t know how much that would change the reflection that is now, that sevename road trip that ended with the victory against Florida. It’s really about the only way to look at that road trip. Other than that, it was a really not so great time out east for the Oilers. Even when they were winning, they weren’t looking great doing it. And, uh, right, you get your first regulation win in almost a month. Well, you know, that’s why fans are barking at you as much as they are. So, that is the Oilers as we get set up for Tuesday against Dallas. Now, there’s plenty of other stuff and topics we can get to and discuss, but what I really want to discuss is the idea around as you saw over on the Oilers Fanatic uh this weekend. I don’t even know what day it is and it’s only Monday. Um, you would have seen there’s first situation with Patrick that we were talking about, you know, December 9th and the Buffalo Sabres game, Pierre Lebrun talking about how the Oilers should be healthier. The Oilers should have more concrete information and should be able to evaluate what the need or desire is to do with the roster at that point. Now, the problem is I said in that video there that the Oilers, you know, if they get out there and get going with this big old victory against Florida and then start rolling from there, well, my concern is with that, by the time you get to December 9th, you’re talking about four or five wins out of the last how many other games. And now you don’t need to make changes. The Oilers are back to Stanley Cup form. You know, they’re right back in the race for first place in the Pacific Division. You know, everything looks great. Don’t worry about it. We’re fine. Steuart Skinner is an all-star goalender. Calvin Pickard’s back up to an 885. It’s fine. He’s the backup. Don’t worry about it. And that’s where, you know, the Oilers get back to their regular old routine that we’ve done every single year. We talk all about in all three years leading up to, you know, now with Pickard and Stew is you talk about an upgrade, talk about an upgrade. It gets really bad at some point in the season and an upgrade’s needed. We’re so close to doing it. Nobody wants to trade us a goalie. It’s trade deadline. Nothing’s available. And then you get through the playoffs, you get to the Stanley Cup finals, and you know, we’re a step away from winning it, but we just don’t win it. And that’s where I think people are rightfully fearing the fact that the Oilers will likely, in my opinion, if everything goes according to plan, i.e. winning here until December 9th, the Oilers likely won’t make a move for a goalender. And I I I don’t mean to be a pessimist there. I just think the Oilers know what they’ve got, good, bad, or otherwise in stew and picks and I think they think it’s enough to get the job done. It’s just again the offense and the systems have let the Oilers down in two backto back cup finals. And Florida, you know, they’re a great team. That’s no matter what the Oilers deficiencies are, you can’t take away the fact that Florida is a great team and very well deserve to be right there winning those two Stanley Cups. Yes, we could have had an opinion in that game seven and 24. We were an eyelash away from taking that game to overtime. A tip off the stick of Breck Koulak a different way would have meant the whole different world for Oilers fans that year. I mean, Florida still could have won in overtime, sure, but it would have just been that much closer to winning a Stanley Cup. So for the Oilers really, I guess you don’t want them to lose the next several games because that puts you in a real bad spot going into the Christmas break as you try to dig out of it from December 9th until the World Juniors begin on Boxing Day. But at the same rate too, I think for a lot of you back home, you wouldn’t want the Oilers to win a ton of games here in the next stretch because the more panic, the more desire for change there is, the more content you will be with the change that is made. I think is a fair assessment of how it goes. Now again, the Oilers and making panic moves and needing to make changes now haven’t historically been good at doing that. The more patient they are, the more progress they make on talks, usually the better they did, right? You think about Matias as an example. Jake Walman another example. You think as well any other deal the Oilers have made over the past little bit. It’s been right down to the wire to make that deal as opposed to when we first started talking about the idea. months back. So, I would caution that, you know, even if things don’t go according to plan or if they do leading into December 9th, I would say Pierre Lebron, he’s got an inside track. He he’s a guy that knows things. But I know the Oilers organization myself and usually deadlines they give come to pass real quick without action whether it’s needed or not. And that would be what I caution here for you tonight is if we’re looking at the next set of games for the Oilers, of course they need to win. I hope that they win. And the more wins they get, the better. And we’ll worry about changes and upgrades as they come available because again, expecting the Oilers to get a goalender at this point is like beating your head off a concrete wall and expecting yourself to punch through six feet or 6 in of concrete with one blow after repeated blows to the head. It ain’t happening. So friends, that’ll do it here for me tonight on Dolan TV. Of course, I I do a terrible job of this, but at the end of every video, there’s three videos that pop up. If you could definitely go check some of that stuff out, specifically Patrick stuff over on the Oilers Fanatic or some of the old Dolan TV content that passes by as this video ends. That’d be greatly appreciated. For right now though, I’m up on oier.

The Edmonton Oilers will look to the thirty game mark as an important marker of this season according to Pierre LeBrun. Does that come to pass with a goalie trade, or do the Oilers even discuss changes?
