FINALLY! Philadelphia 76ers Rumors On Jared McCain & Paul George + 76ers Injury News Ft. Joel Embiid
On today’s show, examining Paula George’s play early on here with Philadelphia. Three games in the books so far this season coming off of injury. How has he looked? Is Jared McCain turning a corner? Got off to a slow start, but a good game on Sunday against the Miami Heat. plus all the latest 76ers injury news coming out of that unfortunate loss. Before we get into all of that here on today’s show, if you could go over and give me a follow on my social media accounts, if you want more Sixers coverage than just these videos every single week, always talking about the Sixers over on social media, on Instagram, 76ers now IG. Kind of like a team channel page over there. and then my Twitterx Jake Chipper. Go follow me. I’ll give you a follow back again. Always talking Sixers over there. Would love to continue the conversation with everybody on those social media platforms. So, let’s get into it. Starting here with Paul George. Three games in the books. Of course, coming off the arthroscopic surgery he had on his knee over the summer. How has he looked? Are there encouraging signs moving forward? Is he just cooked? I think Paul George so far this season, he’s been inconsistent, but as a whole, I’ve been pretty encouraged with what we have seen up to this point. Now, as I mentioned, of course, three games down for Paul George this year. Did miss one of the backto-backs last week and, you know, first game back last Monday against the Clippers. Didn’t shoot all that well, but I thought did a lot of other things well. Thought played well defensively. He was rebounding the basketball. He was passing well and getting a lot of good looks. they just weren’t falling. Then against Milwaukee, that’s where, you know, you kind of had that game where you’re like, man, this is the Paul George that the Sixers have really been waiting for and wanted to see since they signed him. 25 minutes, 21 points. Started off with what, the Sixers first 11 points. He was amazing, especially to start that game. Tailed off a little bit, but still finished with a good night. And then against Miami, another rough shooting night. Although I do think overall he continues to get up decent looks and and play pretty well on the defensive side of the ball. But that Milwaukee game in particular, that’s the game that you pinpoint and say, man, as he comes back from injury, can he be that kind of player for this team moving forward? Look, he’s clearly been inconsistent and there’s obviously some rust he has to shake off. Hasn’t played in quite a while. But as he now, you know, gets back into the swing of things, what you’re really looking at is, okay, are the shots falling? Are they not? You assume at some point the shots will start to fall. But is he playing the right way? Is he moving well? He’s pretty seamlessly, I think, fit into this offense, which was a concern for some people, right? Was Paul George going to be able to fit into the offense given how good it had been leading into the season? And I think offensively he’s done a pretty good job of that. And I think he’s, you know, shown a little bit more burst off the dribble than he did last year when he was dealing with a lot of injuries. Where the Sixers really need Paul George to be that guy is on the defensive side of the ball, especially with Kelly Ubé out right now. Philadelphia really needs somebody who can be that true stopper and at least prevent guys from just being able to walk into the paint. And Paul George can be that. And I think he’s shown that making some plays defensively as well getting those passing lanes. So having his presence back is certainly going to be impactful on that end as long as he can stay healthy and become more consistent and get back into the swing of things. But I am encouraged by what I’ve seen from Paul George cautiously optimistic I would say with what he has shown Philadelphia up to this point in the season. But you know that’s just my opinion. Certainly you could disagree. Maybe you don’t think he’s been all that good. So get down in the comments section right now. I’d love to hear your guys’ opinions here on the show. How would you grade Paul Georgia’s season so far? Give me a letter grade A through F. And of course, feel free to explain your thoughts and explain your reasoning down in the comments section as well. Now, let’s get to Jared McCain because McCain obviously got off to that really rough start coming off the meniscus injury, coming off the thumb injury, did not play well to start the year, got sent down to the G-League, but came back and especially yesterday against the Miami Heat on Sunday. Really looked like he might be turning a corner offensively. Just looked more comfortable. Obviously, the shots falling really do help. And the movement, I think, has been the biggest thing for me. you know, coming off a a major knee injury like a meniscus tear, it can take a while to get back to that old movement and have that confidence in that leg doesn’t seem like it’s been much of a problem for McCain up to this point. Now, of course, I mentioned the start was not good and these numbers obviously very ugly. Take these with a grain of salt. He’s not playing big minutes most of the time when he’s out there. Been a lot of games where he gets one shot up a night, right? So, not a huge sample size, not a lot of volume with a lot of these numbers, but you know, you would like to see him knock down some more of these shots than he previously had been. But against Miami, you finally start to see at least some flashes of what McCain had been last year for Philadelphia. 15 points, two assists, five of 11 from the field, and three of four from three. And in that game, of course, you know, a loss for the Sixers where they started off slow, fought back a little bit, but ultimately weren’t able to get back into this one in the fourth quarter. I I think you saw a few things from McCain that I I mentioned a little bit just a few moments ago, but one, his movement’s very encouraging. McCain spoke and said, “Yeah, this is the best I felt talking about that last game, moving around on that knee, having the confidence in that knee, and just seeing him run around the floor, getting up and down the floor, making cuts, right? doesn’t look like he’s favoring that injured knee. Doesn’t look like he’s too uncomfortable being out there, which is really the first step in coming back from an injury like that. Then as well, you know, just being able to plant and explode off that knee. I There was a couple plays in that game where he’s dribbling the ball, he’s doing step backs, planting off that injured left knee, right? And able to explode off that left knee. That is big, you know, for McCain creating space, big part of his game, getting to his spots in the mid-range. And again, did hit a couple of those off the dribble threes on Sunday. And that’s the big thing with him, right? Getting to his spots, hitting off the dribble. We know he can hit catch and shoot threes, right? That’s something he’ll always be able to do and he’s great at it. But where he excels even more and what he showed last year, which he has not done up to this point this season, is hitting those off the dribble shots. And I think seeing that now gives me a lot more confidence. And it’s really what Sixers fans wanted to see finally, right? He’s able to integrate himself in this offense. and that’s just a great sign for the rest of his season moving forward. Now, we’re going to get to the latest Sixers injury news. A lot to get to on that front, but before we do, want to give a big shout out to today’s presenting sponsor, and that is DraftKings. We’re only a few weeks in and the NBA season is already wild. And here are my picks on this Monday, November 24th for some NBA action. Give me some big favorites here tonight. Detroit minus 10 and a half over the lowly Indiana Pacers. The Knicks minus 12 a half against the even worse Brooklyn Nets. And then give me the Bulls – 5 1/2 against New Orleans Pelicans. Turning around a little bit there in New Orleans, but still not a great team. Of course, odds and lines are subject to change. Big shout out to DraftKings for sponsoring today’s show. Let’s get started with Joel Embiid. He’s missed a lot of time and the question on a lot of Sixers fans minds because the injury, this knee soreness he’s been dealing with did not really seem like it was going to be all that serious. So, when is he going to play again? Are we going to get some clarity on when he’s going to be back on the floor? Now, Embiid last played on November 8th. That is seven games he has missed now dealing with just knee soreness. When he initially had this injury, I thought he was going to be out, you know, a game, maybe two, maybe three. And obviously Philadelphia wants to be cautious with this, but look, it’s not the same knee that he dealt with previously in the offseason. It’s the other knee. And so they’re they’re calling it soreness. He’s been practicing in full. You obviously want to be cautious with Embiid, but man, it’s hard for me not to start getting a little bit worried given his history, given, you know, the knees obviously. And so, when is he finally going to be be back out there? It’s a shame because before this injury, Embiid really was playing well and starting to round back into form a little bit right on the season right around 20 points, five and a half rebounds, three assists, shooting the ball decently. got off to a rough start, but again, those few games leading up to this injury, started to look more like his old self, was starting to play more, and there’s no doubt he’s very frustrated now with having to deal with this injury right now. He’s currently listed as questionable on the Sixers injury report for their next game coming up. So, we’ll see if he does end up being back out there on the floor, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he misses a few more games here. And, you know, with Embiid, it’s always really a question mark. really don’t know uh when the next time we will see Joel beat out there on the floor is hopefully it’s sooner rather than later. Of course, not the only person dealing with injuries right now for Philadelphia. Kelly Ubé, last week it was announced that he would be out for quite a while as he was dealing with an LCL sprain. UB will be out at least until December 3rd. It was two weeks from his diagnosis on November 19th with that LCL sprain in his knee. He hyper hyperextended that knee, excuse me, against the Detroit Pistons a little while ago. He’s listed as out, of course, as he will be re-evaluated on that December 3rd date. No guarantee Ubé is back on that date. That’s just when he’ll be re-evaluated. Could easily be out for a couple more weeks after that. Sixers, I think, have missed his presence on both ends of the floor. Really need Paula George to put together some more consistency moving forward to fill that void. Uh once he’s back though, I mean Uber makes a big impact on this team. They’re definitely missing what he brings to the table. Hopefully he can be back. That is uh next Wednesday as I record this on Monday, November 24th. Adona could return as soon as this Friday against the Brooklyn Nets. He is dealing with an ankle injury right now. Has missed the last few games for four Philadelphia. Andre Drummond has done a valiant job filling in playing a bulk of those of those minutes with no Embiid and No Bona. And then some other guys, Walker, uh, Jabbr Walker, Trena Watford for Dominic Barlo filling in to play some small ball five, but certainly would be a boost to get another true center back in there in Adona if he is indeed able to return from his sprained ankle this Friday. And then VJ Edgecomb as well. This one was a little bit weird right before that game against Miami on Sunday announced he was going to be out with left calf tightness. Kind of came out of nowhere, right? He reported it to nurse. They held him out of precaution. Nurse did say everything looks fine. There’s nothing too serious to deal with. We held him out. It was precautionary on Sunday. But BJ’s listed as out for Philadelphia’s next game. So, he will not play again with this calf tightness. Look, the calf is nothing you want to play with. The calf can always lead to potential Achilles issues, which obviously you do not want to have to deal with, especially, you know, at this point in the season at all really. So, I’m fine with them taking this slow. Again, the calf really does worry me. They’re saying it’s just precautionary, so maybe just out another game or two and then he’ll be back eventually. And then Tyresese Maxi also listed as probable with Paul George for their upcoming game. Maxi deal, you know, little shoulder thing against Miami. Uh did say though that he was all good to go. Never came out of that game. Just looked like he banged it up a little bit. And of course, Paul George ready to roll as well. That’ll do it for today’s show. C
Embiid a D for a Disappointment 😅
Pg = c
Pg – C
It’s too early, only been two games.
The sixers needed to get rid of PG & McCain that a good trade. The sixers needed to give a lump sum of his money & retire his lazy looking ass. Nick Nurse get rid of that coach he not a good coach @ all. Nick Nurse & Embiid is the problem for this team. Because Embiid will never be 100% & he knows it he got everybody fooled. I have never see a organization like this before & Daryl Morey, Nick Nurse needed to be fired. Kyle Lowry, Eric Gordon, Justin Edward needed to go. I feels bad for Maxey he the only highest score on the team. What is Bob Myers doing for this team & it's Daryl Morey fault that this team has this problem. Embiid are full of BS about the right kneel being with the soreness he's is BS & he a fake ass fraud just like PG.
McCain could be Kon Knüppel for us. The skillset is there but i would trade him when his value is much higher than yet
Package a trade with George, Drummond,and Gordon.Then package another trade with Embid,McCain,and Lowry.
