It was like a two-minute speech about this whole situation.” And he goes, “Even when I was young, when I was in Adidas Circuit, when I made my first All-Star game, like, you know, he was there, you know, helping me out and all that other good stuff, right?” And Jaylen Brown was getting a little frustrated with the Celtics, right? He kept hearing his name in the trade rumors, which confirms that they were trying to trade him. This is during the Brad Stevens era, right? And he was like, “Dude, they feel like somebody else can be a better fit than me.” He’s like, “I can’t be that number one option over here.” He didn’t necessarily say number one option, but he pretty much said was like, “I can’t be the guy that I want to be over here.” And Trace McGrady told him like, “Nah, bro. Trust me, whatever you can do, if you could stay, you got the opportunity to win, win.” And the crazy thing is they won a championship. And Jaylen Brown even pretty much said, “Listen, there has been up and downs during, you know, this whole process of me and the Celtics, but I always kept this quote, and that’s one of the reasons why I stayed with the Celtics.” So, this is crazy. And now, obviously, Jaylen Brown’s the number one guy right now, the Celtics with Jason Tatum being out, but there was a chance that Jaylen Brown was going to leave this team.
