This trade SUCKS for the Rangers #baseball #mlb #mets #rangers

This trade sucks for the Rangers. At first, I hated it for the Mets. They traded a 760 OPS for a 660 OPS who’s 2 years older and costs more per year. But digging deeper, Marcus Simeon’s athleticism is about where it was a few years ago. Under the hood, the bat is also similar to his better seasons in Texas. Globe Life’s Park factor made his 2025 results worse on paper. Simeon’s home OPS was 100 points lower than on the road. Even though City isn’t a hitter’s park, Simeon’s bat will play better there. He’s a low bat speed hitter at age 35, meaning his bat will slow down even more going forward, which could turn him from average to bad overnight. His elite defense will fall off eventually, and his bat is walking the tight rope, but his decline isn’t as imminent as NMO’s. NMO’s sprint speed has fallen off since 2021, and he’s gone from a good center fielder to a mediocre left fielder in that time. He also downgraded his excellent eye and contact in pursuit of more power, which hasn’t exactly worked. Even if he hits better than Simeon next year, there’s a good chance he’s the same or lower value because of his defense, and the contract is 2 years longer. In the past few years, he’s played through ankle, foot, and knee injuries. If he can get healthy and get his legs back under him, he might have a few good seasons left in the tank. If not, he is trending towards being an averagehitting but still expensive DH. B minus or C++ trade for the Mets. Most likely a lateral move more dependent on what they do next. D plus for the Rangers. It hardly saves them any payroll now. It costs them money longterm and it’s a massive risk. And that’s why

  1. The Mets 100% made this trade to open up space to make a run at one of the prized free agents. The fact that they were willing to take the "worse" player and could still get the better end of this deal before even considering future moves is hilarious

  2. I think Nimmo will turn out to be better because Semien is older already and doesn’t seem to want to play as much as Nimmo, especially after being traded like that by the only team he’s ever been on. I do think Nimmo’s defense will decline but the rangers need more hitting anyways and their outfield is lacking and I don’t think the Mets really needed another infielder it feels like they really just wanted to get rid of Nimmo and his contract

  3. This guy needs to do way more research. God he is terrible. He is basically saying this is Nimmo is replacing Semien😂. No he is replacing Garcia for us. Plus we have Wallcott the prospect almost ready. Josh Smith can play 2nd base until he ready. Average was way better then Semien last year. Love Semien but 35 years old absolutely not.

  4. This trade favor the Mets little bit more than the rangers because give short term contract so they more money to spend on free agents and Mets fill the gap at second base with Marcus Semien who 2 to 3 fwar player
