I believe they were worth the picks. Jett has improved greatly. Should Jett be extended? I think he would be a good back up for bane. Black has been great and has also improved tremendously. They are both great bench pieces

  1. Jett played well last game but I need to see more from him when more of our starters are in the lineup.

He’s been okay in the minutes he has played so far but if can become a reliable bench scorer (especially with the dearth of scoring from our bench lately) then I’d be happy.

  2. Were they worth the picks? Yes. Both have contributed at various points and shown flashes of greatness.

I do believe however that Welt made the right call in extending Black over Jett. Jett hasn’t shown the consistency needed to be a bench player. One good game, heck even a stretch of good games, does not a NBA player make. Did we forget the Month of Lin-Sanity?

Jett stood up when called upon, and that’s awesome. I hope he plays himself into a phenomenal contract, but the financial realities are that he’ll sign somewhere else in the off season.

  3. What is this. We literally just declined Jett’s fourth year team option, which basically never happens for lottery picks, because he’s been so bad.

I hope he turns it around but at this point he is clearly not living up to 11th pick potential.

  4. He is building a case for a new deal as a bench player next season, just probably won’t be our bench considering cap limitations.

  5. Jett needed minutes and never got them. He’s a 6’6 sharpshooter. These players need rhythm and an offensive structure to succeed. He would do well playing off stars, not garbage time 3rd stringers.

  6. Ab is a hit, jettt is still clearly a miss unless he starts balling and we can resign him for /very) cheap

  7. I think he will be another misstep if he’s let go , I wanted us to keep Houstan as well. 3 point shooting is what the team need and the more you grab of those players the better the shooting environment and culture of the team is

  8. As it stands, Jett has a lot to prove he isn’t a bust.

Black is a decent young player, but not worth a 6th pick so far. Both still very young and have time, but as it stands, both picks don’t look great

  9. We should all be happy to see him have some progress and I think we should all be excited what he can do with more minutes down the road. Beyond that, not much to say as he has a lot to prove if he’s to stay with the team.

  10. Jett had one good game.  Say what you will about the coaching staff, but they’ve seen Jett in practice for years.  There’s obviously something keeping him from playing more, and from them taking a chance and picking up his 4th year option.  He may finally be turning the corner, but I’m going to hold off on calling the entire draft a success just yet.

  11. He had one good game but let him be someone else’s project. He won’t get the minutes he needs to develop here. Outside of our core guys our roster is going to be players on vet minimums chasing rings for the next 5 years

  12. I dont want to overvalue 1 good game, I also dont want to undervalue dropping 20 in a single quarter on a team where offensive consistency, specifically from the 3 point line, is an issue.

It was in a game where the Celtics had a pretty comfortable lead, but it still shows what he can do on offense when he plays with confidence.

I think the takeaway here is that if we can find consistent minutes for him and he can get comfortable and play with confidence like this then he can be a very useful asset.

Hes a guy who can help the offense without needing the ball in his hands a whole lot, and if we do give him the ball from time to time hes capable of finding himself a shot or getting to the rim. Thats a skill set we could certainly use.

I like the Bane addition but if we’re going to more consistent come back in games when we’re losing Bane cant be our only volume shooter from 3.

  13. I mean one is clearly not like the other here.

Jett has seemingly understood that he has to lock in on defense to not been seen as a liability and could carve out a career as a microwave scorer off the bench, whether with us or elsewhere.

AB on the other hand is clearly coming into his own as a strong rim runner and finisher and cutter.

He always was a very good defender with very sharp instincts that can defend position 1-3 very well, which gives him a ton of value in teams that like to switch like us. Also probably the second best transition player we have after Franz.

As long as he is not tasked to run sets himself or create his own shot he will be fine. He is significantly better playing off players with more gravity than himself and capitalizing on space.

There are still clear areas he has to improve (especially as a FT and long range shooter) but he is also still so young and will have a long career in the NBA IMO, hopefully a long time of that with us.

  14. Black yes, Jett who knows. I mean he must have got outplayed in practice by the absolute trash cans that are Gary Harris and KCP. But maybe he’s just a bad practice player. I’ve liked what he’s been giving us since he started getting consistent bench minutes. He’s hitting his shots and not getting abused on defense like in years past.

  15. Let’s slow down. He had a very good game yesterday, but he wasn’t optioned before the season started. So the short answer is no, but why is up for debate.

Also, does anyone notice how he kind of shoots from his chest?

  16. bro what? last game was basically the first time jett has been good in 3 years and now hes a great bench piece? get some help

  17. Jett has shown something this season that I wasn’t sure was in the cards for him at this point… that he can be a positive contributor on the court for this team. I honestly thought he was a goner at the end of this season (or earlier) but so far (not even counting the Boston game), he’s shown a big step over last season, even serviceable defense.

  18. They were both reached at the time, and still probably are. AB could be the real deal. Possibly a legit 6th man or starter on a winning team at some point in his career. Jett will be a role player at best, which isn’t great for a lottery pick. But they can’t all be stars or even starters in the league. Some are busts, and some are alright. In Jett’s case, being alright might be good enough on a good team. Just need him to come off the bench and knock down a few shots. He’s highly capable but can he stay locked in is the bigger question

  19. I mean he’s still really young and watching TDS it makes you wonder if the one the and done is doing a disservice to some of these players. He and ABs bodies are still changing. Jett’s shoulders definitely got broader this past year and he looks quicker.

We declined his 4 year but it doesn’t mean. We can’t sign him and reset his pay scale but if he keeps playing like this he could get traded so we get some value out of him before summer. The kid can shoot and always has been able to the other shills lagged but he’s improved them all especially driving to the basket.

    We shall see.

  20. If Jett does what he did last night a few more times this season, a conversation needs to be had

  21. I wanted Anthony Black in the draft even if he is bench player rn, he can come in when starters get injured or suspended. I’m happy with him.

However Jett is a big disappointment, Tristan seem way better and he was drafted a little later in the subsequent draft.

JH won’t get a juicy contract like the other two but if he wants to prove himself then he is going to fight for scraps next year if he wants to continue here.

Won’t be a big loss if he decides to look somewhere else, he might be better elsewhere but definitely not with a Magic jersey as things stand.

  22. I still truly believe if Grady Dick was Grady Smith or Grady Jones they would have drafted him.
