This is a followup to u/SuperSaiyanTLaw's post from a few days ago. There's a massive gap between Trevor's stats when playing with a lead vs playing while tied or trailing. Just to add to this gap, 3 of his 5 rushing TDs occurred while trailing.
It's truly incredible how closely that trend could be seen against Arizona. 2 of his 3 interceptions as well as his fumble that was returned for a TD took place while in the lead. All 3 of his passing TDs happened while either tied or trailing.
I can't really find any other QB to compare him to. Almost every other QB I've looked up has thrown the bulk (or all) of their interceptions while tied or trailing.
Interceptions thrown while leading out of total interceptions thrown:
Lawrence: 9/11 (uh-oh)
Tagovailoa: 1/13
Geno Smith: 5/13
Darnold: 5/10
Allen: 1/9
Herbert: 2/9
Mahomes: 0/7
Prescott: 0/7
Daniel Jones: 0/7
Mayfield: 1/5
Stafford: 0/2
This is obviously not a comprehensive list, but just some guys I had the time to look up right now. Feel free to add others in the comments. Just a truly bizarre and unique season Trevor is having so far.

Some more QBs for the list:
Flacco: 2/10
Nix: 4/8
Maye: 3/6
Goff: 2/5
Williams: 2/4
Love: 1/3
Even among guys on teams with a lot of time in the lead, they top out with 50% of their interceptions thrown while leading.
Also, did you guys know that the Giants have the 2nd most total time of possession with a lead and are still 2-10? Jesus.

If his brain can switch on when we’re ahead he would be top 5 easy. Dude has all the physical tools.
He just plays better when he doesn’t over think
All this tells me is that Liam Coen needs to tell Trevor before every play that we’re actually down 21-17.
But in all honesty this is a super weird stat for him. Most INTs coming while tied or trailing makes sense because that’s when you’re more likely to be trying to force things.
Hmm, so when we get a lead, Mullens time if we fall behind, Trevor, you’re up!
Throwing less TDs while leading makes sense. Throwing more picks while leading does not.
I think I remember watching an NFL Films where John Madden said that Ken Stabler was only good when the pressure was up, and when there wasn’t any—he’d get lazy and make mistakes.
We found our Eli Manning
I really think we need to be a pass first offense. The Chargers game and these stats show he plays much better when we have to throw a lot and have tempo.
He does well in crunch time and 2 minute drills which is something we had a long drought of. Wish he could just carry that energy all day but it reminds me of my own ADHD lol
If we’re going to be saddled with him, then we need to have him passing as much as possible to work thru whatever mental blockade he’s having during games.
What about the rest of career? Is this trend just this season or a consistent thing?
