🚨DEVELOPING: New Orleans Saints SIGNING Kicker Justin Tucker After Workout & Blake Grupe Rough Day?

In overreaction Monday, we talked about how the Saints needed to replace a kicker. And we got some breaking news. Two kickers are trying out for the New Orleans Saints. Justin Tucker and Cade York. According to Nick Underhill, Ian Rapaort, Mike Gello, and other sources out there. So, before we dive into all of this kicker discussion, that’s the theme of this video. Pick a kicker. Now, first things first, we got to address the obvious. Blake Groupy, he’s been bad. He has not been sustainable. It’s been unacceptable and quite frankly, it’s just been piss poor efforts across the board in special teams. I feel for Blake Groupy as a human being and at the end of the day, this is a business decision. This is a resultsdriven industry. If you are not doing your job, you should be replaced. And that isn’t just in sports, that is in life in general. And Blake Groupy is a guy that the New Orleans Saints opted to go with over Will Lutz a couple of years ago and it has not been very good since the Saints made that decision. I fear there is not a single clutch gene in uh Blake Groupy’s body. I think I have more clutch in my pinky than Blake Groupy has in his entire existence. That being said, the Saints need to make a change of kicker. I It has nothing to do with Blake Group as a human being. It is simply the fact that he is not getting it done in special teams. He is a team captain. It’s frustrating. The Saints need to make a change. I don’t know if the change I would make is Justin Tucker, but at least they’re trying to make that change. Let’s talk about this try out. And I want to address a few things first with Justin Tucker. As we all know, he had some allegations that popped up uh around some misconduct. Uh he was reinstated on November 11th after serving a 10-game suspension, meaning he is now able to return to the National Football League. He denied the claims, did not appeal this suspension, and it was not a very pretty thing off the field overall. But, you know, when it comes to Justin Tucker from a football standpoint, he’s not very much better than he is off the field to be totally honest. I mean, he wasn’t good in 2024. right now his field goal percentage from 2024 um it was 73.3% that would be 31st this year in the National Football League. So I guess it’s an upgrade not by much but to be totally honest when it comes to Justin Tucker it’s uninspiring. He wasn’t playing at that allp pro level. He wasn’t playing at that pro bowl level. He wasn’t the guy that used to be ultra clutch, ultra impactful for the Baltimore Ravens. And the Saints just need to upgrade at their kicker position. No question about it. They have options. We talked about options earlier. Rodrigo Blanketship comes to mind. Charlie Smith is an internal option. Uh you have other dudes available in free agency. There’s not a great list out there just because at this point in the season, the New Orleans Saints don’t have many options in free agency. Dustin Hopkins is out there as well. I’m going to be totally honest. I personally think the Saints need an upgrade at a position of kicker specifically, but I also don’t think you need to sign somebody coming off of a suspension in terms of the misconduct that Justin Tucker faced. Um, the alleged misconduct, I should say, I think I’m okay. And even without all the allegations, you just remove all of that in general, I still wouldn’t sign him. He wasn’t good. He was just really, really bad for the Baltimore Ravens. Was missing field goals left and right. He is not somebody I’m ultra interested in bringing to New Orleans. I fear that there would be extra distractions that come along with Justin Tucker. Maybe it’s in the past. I don’t totally know. I don’t want to speculate all that much around his the things going off off the field or going on off the field. But I will say that I would very much so proceed with caution when it comes to bringing in Justin Tucker to the New Orleans Saints. Click the link in the comments and description of this video to get started. Today, let’s talk Kade York, the former LSU legend, national champion for what it’s worth. If you guys remember that name, it’s because uh he was in Louisiana and he is a legend in that regard. Uh drafted by the Browns in 2022, a fourthround pick. Um going to go ahead and say this. I don’t think the Saints should prioritize drafting a kicker because drafting kickers doesn’t seem to work out very well. Uh, that being said, seventh round pick, sixth round pick, whatever. Doesn’t really matter. Why not? Um, or go get another UDFA or whatever. Long story short, Kade York, he hit 75% of his field goals his rookie year. And then he was cut the following summer, which was pretty interesting. Did bounce around the league a little bit, spent some time at the Washington, spent some time with Cincinnati, uh, but was on the Bengals practice squad for a majority of last year in terms of his 2024 production. It wasn’t great. Uh, 43 total points, 69.2% 2% field goal rate. Um it was 81.8% uh field goal percentage uh with the Cincinnati Bengals. That’s respectable, but still inconsistent. And you see in Washington only two points there, 0 for two in field goals, was perfect from extra points. All in all, it’s not that I think Kade York is a bad kicker. He is young though. He was a great kicker at one point in time in his career, but I don’t necessarily know if he’s an amazing option. than that being said, I think he’s the best option. Like, I’d much rather have Kade York than Justin Tucker simply because of the upside that Kade York still could potentially tap into, as well as the fact that there’s not all the extracurriculars that come with Kade York that would come with Justin Tucker as well. And from an optic standpoint, too, it just would make a lot more sense to roll with Kade York over Tucker, if you ask me. Now, Charlie Smith, he is the internal option. I do believe he should be considered as well. you should see him get some opportunities to try to make a name for himself and get out on the field. We’ve seen him hit some field goals in the preseason. We’ve seen him uh compete over the last couple years to be the starting kicker. He has lost to Blake Groupy in training camp both of those times. And for what it’s worth, my question is if Blake Group is the better option, what’s going on with Charlie Smith? And it’s interesting because Blake Groupy keeps saying he’s perfect. He’s super consistent. He feels great when it’s at practices and at warm-ups and everything. And that’s all the reports are saying is that during practices and warm-ups, he’s fine. But then when you get into the game, when the moment gets bright and the lights go on, he starts to the bed. Now, Charlie Smith has his best chance to get on the field yet. Right now, they are looking to make a change at the kicker position, meaning Charlie Smith should have the upper hand in potentially winning that battle considering he is the internal option and he’s the guy that the Saints have seen the most of. But can he win the battle? Can he beat out Justin Tucker? Can he beat out Kade York? Because if he can’t, then that may mean we won’t see Charlie Smith get on an NFL field in the regular season, at least in the black and gold. And I really do hope he can get on the field. I have very high hopes for Charlie Smith. I think he’s a very re a really cool story, very interesting player. And the thing is, he has a hell of a leg, but the accuracy tends to be a bit of an issue, but all in all, we can kind of peel this back a little bit further. And let’s just talk coaching. Phil Galliano, special teams coordinator. Get him out of here. He’s got to go. Um, he needs to be replaced ASAP to be totally honest. Um, however, your best option is going to be waiting until the offseason. Um, yeah, Phil Galliano needs to go. Punting is terrible. Kicking is terrible. Special teams in general are terrible. It’s a joke. And Phil Galliano is not going to get done. I miss Darren Rzzy. And quite frankly, um, they need to make an upgrade in terms of special teams across the board to be totally honest. I think Zack Wood, the long snapper, is pretty much the only guy safe that I would keep around in special teams, which is crazy to say. Now, it is time to reset the nonsense clock. It’s officially been zero days since the New Orleans Saints last nonsense. potentially gonna be signing Justin Tucker or Kade York. Working out both of those guys. All in all, it feels like this team is addicted to nonsense.
