Jaguars vs. Cardinals Review, AFC Landscape | Jacksonville Jaguars

This is Jaguars Happy Hour. Jaguars Happy Hour is brought to you by Jet Home Loans. And now, a guy who’s recorded his 1,000th tackle at the All You Can Eat Buffet on Merrill Road, JP Shak. And welcome in. It is Jaguars happy hour. Monday after another Jaguars victory and a busy two hours ahead, here’s what’s coming up. presented by Deep Bennetty Vodka. Handcrafted with real fruit. Proud partner of the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jags over the Cardinals 2724 in overtime. A resilient Jaguars team gets the victory. Jaguars defensive effort. We’ll get into that. Certainly the Jaguars offense had four giveaways in the game. We’ll certainly get into that. Keeping it real. That’s coming up in hour number two. Fan questions as always from social media. We’ll go around the NFL as well. JP Shadrick with former Jags defensive end Austin Lane in studio. What’s up, Austin? How are you? What’s up, man? Hey, you know how they always say like, you know, it’s it’s about the journey, not the destination. That game was about the destination. Yeah, because the journey to get there was not great, but you take it where you can get it. And you definitely got a dub. So, CBS Sports senior writer Pete Prrisco with us. Uh, yeah, that that makes sense to me, Pete. Yeah, I mean, look, that was that was a weird one in the history of this franchise. That was a weird one. And we’ve seen some weird games. Uh, but that was so much good, so much bad. Kind of where they are right now as a team, but they also be in the playoffs. And I think they’re making it, by the way. I think so. They’ve won back-to-back games, three of the last four out of the by-week. They’re now the number six seed because there’s a three-way tie in the wild card there. So, it goes to conference record. That’s why the Chargers are ahead of them in the standing right now. So, you think they’re going, Pete? I do think they’re going. I think the schedule’s favorable. And I mean, look, Titans, Colts at home, Jets, bare minimum, you win two or three of those in my book. You should win three of three based on the history against the Colts. They’ve owned them at home. And then after that, you get the Titans again later in the season. I mean, you you should get to 10 or 11 wins and that should get you in. And I don’t know if they’re going to be a six seed or the seven seed, but I think that gets them in. Wow. Awesome. I mean, when you look at the schedule, you have the Titans twice. Like, the Titans are not a good football team this year. The Jets aren’t a good football team either. So, to me, that’s three right there. I get the whole narrative of the Colts, you know, can’t win in Jacksonville. Well, last time I checked, too, the Houston Texans always win in Jacksonville and and that didn’t happen this time, right? So, like I understand sometimes you let history be the indicator. I think this is a different Colts team than we’re accustomed to. And I do think that Colts game at home is going to be a rough one. Like I mean I’m not saying rough in terms of the Jaguars losing, but I think it’s going to be a very competitive ball game. Me, too. I mean, I’m not going to say they’re going to run away with it, but I could see them winning that game, too. When When was the last time the Colts won in Jacksonville? Um, it’s been a while. I think uh Clinton was in office. It’s been a while. Uh, no. I I think it’s it’s not that long, but No, no, I think it’s like 2014 or something. Crazy. Okay. I remember they beat us in 2012. It was like Thursday night game. Yeah. I’ll check it out. Yeah. Yeah. Uh, but any anyways, it’s going to it’s going to be a tough that’s a tough game. And the game in Indie is a tough game. And the game at Denver’s a tough game, but the other three you should win, right? You would agree with that. And then if you say you get one of the other ones, you’re you’re that’s what that gives you to what 11. Pete Pete, let me ask you this. What are you more confident right now with this Jaguars team? Them winning in Nashville, which they haven’t done a lot, it seems like, or them winning at home against the Colts. Both. I think they can win both. I think they can win both. I I look and again this is the year to be a not so great team and get into the playoffs because there aren’t many great teams in the AFC. Everybody’s kind of straggling along when you look at it. And so I I do think they could get in. I said this on the air RNR air last night. I said if they get in they might be one of the worst playoff teams we’ve seen in a long time. What do they do? What do I asked you this question in 100% certainty? What do they do? Well, the Jacksonville, I think they can run the football really well and I think that they can stop the run. And when we talk about running the football and stopping the run in cold weather in playoff climates, that can make a difference. I mean, do you get the impression that they’re really good as a run defense or that somehow because I don’t you don’t see dominance in the run game and they’ve been good against the run, but do you see who’s a dominant player in the run game on that defense? Hamilton’s been good, but is he dominant? I mean, I think they’re all pretty Walker’s good against the run. We know that his physical Walker’s good against the run’s good, but you know, usually has been okay. Huh. Foy Lukan’s been been okay. He’s been dependable, but but there’s been some tackling. Yeah. Yeah. Mhm. And they’re okay. It It’s weird when you look at their run defense numbers. They would give you the idea that they’re dominant as a run team. As a run defense, and it doesn’t appear to be that way. They just they’re good, sound, fundamental team is what they are. But they don’t do anything great. nothing. Not one thing you There’s not one thing you could sit there and say they do great. Or if you go look at the other teams again, that’s a by the way, it’s a tribute to the head coach in a lot of ways that they’re they’re at seven and four and they don’t do a lot of things great. They’re resilient. They win close games. They’re learning how to win games like this, Pete. Well, okay, Coach Coach JP, there he goes. Listen, at the end of the day, whether you know they have the household names or not, whatever the PFF numbers say or not, they are the number one run stuffing team right now in the NFL. And maybe more of that is due to a game plan of an offense that looks at this Jaguars defense and says we can beat them over the middle more. We can beat them with tight ends as opposed to running the football. But every single time a team has tried to run against the Jaguars, they have answered that call. Now, did I mean and I think the 49ers game is kind of evident of that a little bit cuz I don’t think McCaffrey really had the best a day and they’ve been running a lot with McAffrey. So, I mean at the end of the day, listen, you you may think that it’s not great. I think the numbers speak differently and the ability to run the football, like I said, in cold weather in the playoffs, I think that means something. By the way, the last Jaguars loss at home to Indie, yes, 2014. So, 10 consecutive wins for the Jaguars at home against the Colts. Crazy. It is. It’s been 10 It’s been 10 straight. 10 straight. And then before that, there were a couple Yeah. One of those was in London, by the way. So, nine technically here. Yeah. Go ahead. But but also, if I’m not mistaken, even before that, there were like games where they won like before that streak, they won games here to in in Jacksonville, too. Yeah. So, I mean, the Colts won a bunch here before that, but then it’s been 10 straight. I mean they they had won six of the previous eight here the Colts had. That was with Manning and Gang though, wasn’t it? That was with Andrew Luck Luck and then Manning and that before that. So and then it was just a it was a smorgus board of just random quarterbacks then making their way through Jacksonville, right? Yeah. Um this is how it went. So all right. So we figured out what they do well. We figured out um you know now we got to figure out the quarterback play. You know what? four giveaways, three interceptions, but but three touchdowns in the game, too, Pete. So, there’s a lot of a lot of bad, but a lot of good to go with it. And got as large experience, right? That’s what it is. Summed that up in one game. That’s exactly what it was. Look, I I watched the tape today and there are moments in that game when you go, “Oh my god, that throw both ways.” Yeah. Yeah. I mean, the throw he made to Parker Washington on the sideline. I mean, that was an unreal throw. The throw for the touchdown to Parker Washington. Great throw. With pressure. With pressure. He sidesteps the pressure. Makes the throw. I mean, look at this. He’s got pressure coming off his right. Hops. That’s That’s NFL quarterbacking right there. Right. And he did it. He did. He made that look easy. That that’s that’s the amazing look. Pressure, step, set, throw. Some that’s the game where we don’t see a lot of that from him. I think sometimes when he has to do it, he’s at his best. And I guess I saw a stat today that most of his interceptions have come when he’s leading. It’s pretty crazy. or all of them even, which that’s incredible. That tells you when he has to do it, he goes and does it. What does he have? Five fourth quarter game-winning drives. Is that right this season? Yeah, it’s um Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So, what he’s had to do, he’s done it. And but just some of the decision like Okay. on the one interception. Buddha made Buddha Baker made a really good play if you remember yesterday where he’s got to hold him in the middle a little bit more with his eyes or he could have taken the throw to the to the tight end. It would have been an easier throw, but he’s got to hold it. He clearly he’s got to like hold them in the middle right there. Mhm. And he doesn’t hold them. So that’s that’s a bad decision on his part. Bad operation. the one that was intercepted in the middle of the field. He got fooled. He saw blitz. Guy was lined up like he was blitzing. He thought he was going to come and he doesn’t come and he dropped out and he didn’t see him. So those are to me those are really really bad plays on his part. But there were a lot of good ones and when he had to do it he did it. That’s that’s a sign of a quarterback, right? You want him to do it, he did it. It’s just the inconsistency. He should be beyond that by now. he should be past that. He shouldn’t have games like that and he does. And so there’s always going to be the questions about him. So to me it’s wild because if you go to that Cardinals game and you saw a little bit of it in the Houston Texans game as well, even though the Texans couldn’t capitalize on uh a few interceptions, it almost seems like now teams the secondary, they’re almost baiting Trevor Lawrence to try to make those throws, right? And and you can bait a quarterback when he has a tendency just to stare down a receiver. And I think both those interceptions came from just simply staring down the wide receiver. and and the Cardinals players made great plays on that touchdown to Parker, like everything was breaking down. That’s when you kind of got to improvise and just say, “Okay, we’re in the backyard. Hopefully this this gets there.” It was one of his best throws he’s had all year. It seems like when Trevor has time to overanalyze stuff, he makes the mistakes. When things start breaking down, he’s got to act right now and not think about it. He he does a much better job of hitting the guy in the end zone or hitting these great passes. It’s just it’s wild because you think it’d be the other way, right? like when you have time to dissect and and the pockets clean, okay, let me go here. It’s the opposite for Trevor Lawrence. And I think that’s kind of been his his calling card this entire season of when it breaks down, this dude can make every throw an elite quarterback can make. When he has time to analyze and think about he’s got two blitz, look at this play. Two blitzers in his face and he fires a shot in there. That’s amazing. I mean, and and then when he’s standing there by himself, he he’s has a hard time figuring out what to do with it. It just, you’re right, Austin. It’s It’s the strangest thing. And I’ve said that for a long time that he plays his best when it’s go time. When he’s It’s haphazard. It’s go go go go go go. And when he’s within the structure, he doesn’t play as good. He doesn’t play his best football that way. It’s It’s so we It’s one of the weirdest and madding things. I think if you’re a head coach, it’s got to drive. You saw Liam Cohen when he threw that interception in the middle of the field. He’s like, “What is he doing?” He couldn’t figure it out. Yeah. By the way, I got a I sent out a picture and I took it down. I c and I’m trying to get clarification on it. There was his own read and I sent it out. I took it down, but it was his own read where if he I thought if he handed the ball to ETN, he would have run for 35 yards and maybe housed it. The end crashed, so everybody said, “Okay, well the end would have eaten him up.” And he pulled it. remember he ran like minus three yards because he had a good scrape. Now the the thing about that play is I know what his own read is. When the end crashes you pull it whatever. If you know if he doesn’t crash you hand it off. All the all the blocking and everything the action went the other way. And when you look at the way they blocked it. So Austin you would know this better than me for sure. The defense the defensive end is to on the right hand side of the defense. Left hand side. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Is getting blocked by Hany. Okay. Think about that now. The center. Yeah. So, he’s blocking out on him, but he’s not trying to get out in front of him. He’s trying to get him that way. Like for he’s here. He’s trying to get him here with the run action going the other way. If he was trying to if they were trying to pull it and and run the other way, would he try and hook him and get outside of him? Yeah. So, I I do remember this play when I was watching it live. I’m like, “Oh, don’t don’t pull it. Just hand it off to ETN. It’s right there.” Like, it’s it’s there, right? But then when I went back to actually watch it, it looked like cuz and I’m giving the Cardinals more benefit of the doubt here than anything because they seem to play pretty disciplined on the defensive line and in that secondary. I think their defense, I mean, all things considered, did all right. What it looked like to me was is that the end had Trevor Lawrence as his responsibility. So, I’m sorry, uh, he had ETN as his responsibility because he was secondary on that Trevor Lawrence tackle. So, I think if he does hand that ball off to ETN, I think ETN gets stopped for for two or three yards. Now, it has to be a great play by that defensive end, by that edge guy, but I think he’s got to come down. He’s got to tackle from behind, but I think he had responsibilities in that play because if you watch him make that tackle on Trevor, I think we’re talking about the same play here. when he makes that tackle or assisted tackle on Trevor, it’s secondary to him. Well, because they had a scrape on the outside, so that so Trevor had nowhere to go. Period. Correct. But it’s just and I’m trying to figure it out because I’m going to ask somebody the blocking assignments on that play led me to believe that the ball was supposed to be handed off and go to the because you know a zone read if everything and they pinned and pulled to the right. He’s supposed you’re not going to pull it and go the opposite. Usually you don’t pull it and go the opposite direction when the blocking isn’t going that way. Yeah. I mean, it may have been a a blown assignment. It may have been by design, but like at the end of the day, I don’t And I remember watching it live thinking, “Okay, that that’s that should have been a first down if he hands that ball off.” But then like he’s reading the end. Yeah. If he’s reading the end, he pulls it. But I don’t It just didn’t look like the way the blocking was. And maybe everything I’ve ever looked at, I don’t know if you look at it, if we have the play, you can look at it, but it doesn’t look like it’s blocked because, okay, if Hayes is blocking that outside end, he’s got to hook him if he’s going to pull it. Well, keep in mind though, like sometimes it’s not even an aggressive block because you want to have that guy on an island, right? Because sometimes if you’re undisiplined, the the hope would be that he takes Trevor and he doesn’t look at the I’m talking about the the the the down player. The end is up. He crashes. The down player is the next player on that side. And Haney’s blocking him going opposite where the play is, you know, where where ETN’s going. So, it looks like he’s just trying to shield, get over it, they block down, they pull around like that’s supposed to go to the right side. And that’s why I said when I sent that out, hand the ball off and that yeah, the end would have made a great play to tackle him, but if he hands the ball off, there’s a chance he gets outside there and and gets out. Trevor had no chance to pull it. There was nothing there. So, I’m Am I hearing right now that Austin proved Pete wrong? Is that what I’m hearing on this play? No, he didn’t. It’s It’s I’m wrong if he’s reading that guy, but it’s just the way the blocking is. I’m not so sure that’s supposed to be the play the way that play is supposed to go. That’s all. I think if you’re read if you’re reading that then why is the action all going the other way? It’s a good question. Uh we might not know the answer for a little while. I’m going to find the I’m going to find the answer to that question out. By the way, we’ll come back in a moment. Uh we won’t have it in three minutes, but we’ll uh we’ll come back. We got to get to the defense as well a little bit later. Back to the offense and the skill guys who really stepped up in this game for the Jaguars. Certainly. Those guys, we had to use a lot of them in terms of, you know, knowing that they were going to chuck it a good amount of times in this game. Um, we used a lot of guys in different positions. We had a few substitution errors because of that. that Danny kind of got nicked and um we were trying to uh put some different guys in some different spots to give us some more rush, but you know, they ran it for what 55 yards again and uh we knew they were going to want to come out and chuck it and we had to impact them and influence the rush, which we did in a lot of ways. Head coach Liam Cohen after the game in Arizona yesterday discussing this Jaguars pass rush. Yeah, Jacobe Brassette 39 of or 33 of 49 passing. So, a lot of attempts through the air in a Jaguars victory yesterday in overtime 2724. Welcome back to the most important happy hour episode in franchise history. JP Shadrick, Austin Lane, Pete Frisco, and Jaguars happy hour is presented by Jet Home Loans. Cint XL amjaguars.com and Jaguars YouTube. Jaguars defense after all these giveaways. Uh, you know, obviously it was the fumble return touchdown. Can’t help that. But the first two interceptions, they get off the field with three and outs right away. Now, the third one they let score, but the offense bounced back and and was able to get down the field and counter that one. But um this Jaguars defense feels like it’s been doing a lot of that kind of thing this year. May not be pretty sometimes. It may not be, you know, super, you know, shut down statistical every week, but situationally, at least yesterday, I thought they had a pretty good day overall. Yeah. I mean, this was a a bend but don’t break performance, you know, and if you want to go on the box score and see what Brassette did, see what McBride did, see what Wilson did, you’d say, okay, well, yeah, they let some stuff, you know, get behind him and happen. But and and I’ve been there anytime a team gives up the ball four times and puts you behind the eightball like that to go out there and really only surrender 17 points because of you know the one was a fumble by Trevor for that touchdown. Um it’s a it’s a miraculous job of that defense. It could have been a lot worse. So yeah, I thought defense, you know, held up their end of the play and definitely helped dig them, you know, the offense out of a hole uh with all those turnovers. I think the defense did a nice job. I mean, and they did a lot of good things on different looks up front and threw a bunch of looks at the Cardinals. I I would look, I I think Campanelli’s done a hell of a job with that defense. I really do. I think he’s, you know, and remember Austin, we kind of a couple weeks ago we said, well, they backed off some of the stuff that they did to kind of simplify it. Well, I think in this game, they went back to doing more of the stuff up front and showing looks and coming after him and attacking him. And I I think it I think it worked. I mean, I think the plan worked. And when you don’t have two dominant edge players, you know, the Texans can rush four all the time if they want to because they have two and they get pressure from the inside. Well, Jacksonville doesn’t, so you got to create the pressure. You know, Josh Hines Allen’s done a really good job, but you didn’t have anybody really on the other side with Walker not being there. And so, I thought he responded to that and did a nice job. I think Campell has done a heck of a job with the defense. I really do. So, I think a few things that you saw against that Cardinals um team was Josh Hines Allen now with Trayvon Walker being out kind of had the Max Crosby treatment where they moved him all around and and I think they’re trying to key in on great matchups for Josh Hines Allen. That’s got to happen, right? When when he’s your best pass rusher out there, um it’s okay to go, okay, we get let you like be on the left side, let’s go to the right side a little bit. Let’s move around a little bit. And also, if you want to ask the question of how do you get home if you can’t get four, Devin Lloyd is your answer. Devin Lloyd. Um, and maybe that this whole defense of what was missing him the entire time, but when you want to talk about what he does well, Pete, I don’t know if there’s a better linebacker in terms of blitzing and running games like Devin Lloyd. Like, it’s it’s one thing to to to be on the line of scrimmage, you know, with the fourman front, you’re running exits in Texas and you’re setting picks and everything for everybody. It’s another thing to be a linebacker and have that reckless abandonment and just kind of throw your body in the mix and still try to set his pick or set a screen for a defensive end or defensive tackle. Lloyd is one of the best at doing that. And when he does do that, it causes chaos for offensive lineman. And then they’re able to get home a couple times just simply with him being able to rush the passer and blitz. Well, and that’s what he did in college. I mean, that and that’s where he excelled. I think they’ve taken advantage of that. The last regime didn’t do that as much. And and I think it it hurt him. I mean, cuz he’s he’s one of those guys, like you said, he can he can make plays in the passing game. He can run. He’s, you know, he gets lost in cover sometimes. He gets lost, you know, as a run stuffing linebacker at times. So, why not utilize what’s his strength? And I think they’ve done that. I think he’s that’s what I go back to Campanelli being he’s been he’s done a really good job. You know, his name is mentioned in New York as a possible head coaching candidate. I don’t think he’s going to get the job. But, uh, look, that’s that tells you people are paying attention to what he’s doing in his first year. Deon Lloyd, five tackles, a sack and a half, two tackles for loss, and five quarterback hits in the game yesterday, including that one on the sideline, which was fantastic on Brousette. Knocked him out for a little bit. Clean hit. He was in bounds. Do you think that was maybe a makeup call though for the for the one where they he put his body weight on top of him for that one hit? Because I thought the one out of bounds had more of a flagrant over it than the one where he hit the quarterback and Yeah. What’s that? Three times in a in three weeks they’ve been called for that. Three weeks in a row. Yeah. Yeah. Let’s watch it. Yeah. Yeah. We’re We’re going to take a look on Jaguars.com and Jaguars. That was a bad call. See, I thought this one was a little more to the book than the BJ Green one last week for sure because his shoulder I think was probably on him. But he’s letting up and watch. And he even like kind of lifts up his arms a little bit here. Look, it’s not I don’t know. I I don’t know what’s he supposed to do in that scenario. He kind of turns to the side a little bit. Look, he doesn’t really He’s across his body, not on his body. JP wants to ask for for his permission next time, I guess. Hey, is this cool across the field? Is it okay if I hit you? No, I That wasn’t That was not a I didn’t think that was that should have been called. That was not as bad as last week’s, but that should have been called. I think honestly I think I could see how they called it because he did land on him instead of on the side. The one last week, Green was on the side of him. So I I don’t know that where that but he’s kind of like if this is his body, he’s kind of across his body and not right on top of it. So it’s it’s look, you can’t hit him high, you can’t hit him low, and you can’t land on them. Other than that, go ahead and sack him. Logan lost his mind on the broadcast, by the way. Oh, I believe it, man. I I would I would imagine he this is why I don’t do broadcasts, man. I would have been escorted out of there in a heartbeat. But the one towards the sideline though, Br like I thought for sure they were going to they’re going to throw that. I mean, they did they threw the flag. They picked it up. I was a little surprised with that one. So, uh Jaguars defense getting the job done yesterday and moving ahead. You know, they’re going to be they might have some guys coming back in the next few weeks as well. Jordan Lewis has been down. We’ll see how bad the Trayvon Walker thing is. is not sure on that one. But um they’ve you know Eric Murray in the back end if they get some of these guys back healthy again. Okay. Well, especially these and that’s Yeah. Go ahead. Also, no, I was going to say and this defensive line is finally starting to find their groove a little bit. Well, well, you’ve had two great matchups going on your third great matchup now because Chargers, we saw what they were. You saw the Cardinals were now the Tennessee Titans aren’t that much better at the tackle position. They have they have two guys that are just mediocre maybe right now they’re playing. And so yeah, they’re me that’s a mediocre offensive line at pass. Yeah. So if you’re Josh Hines Allen, if Trayvon Walker comes back, like you should be eating there, too, as well. And Cam Mortal run into a few, too, you’d think. So yeah, and by the way, we got to give a little shout out to the corners who are playing. Yeah. I mean, those guys Jarian Jones has stepped it up. I thought Brazwell did made some good plays and and those guys have done some good things. Montic Brown, I mean, he’s a bad, you know, we always talk about football players, Austin, football players. We’re seeing those guys. They’re limited somewhat in athletic ability. You know, Brown is a football player. They make plays. How about Antonio Johnson, too, coming in for a sack on the blitz, too. Well, and that’s where he’s at his best, by the way. You get him in the back end and he’s spinning around, he doesn’t know what he’s doing, he loses, misses an assignment, that’s a problem. But when he’s up there at the line of scrimmage, he can do a lot of things. Yeah. Well, I think the other side of it, though, is what about Newsome? Like, was it is he banged out? It had to be a disciplinary. Well, they he didn’t start team decision. Didn’t play the first quarter, so something happened. I don’t know. No, I mean, he was out there and then he got Wilson, I think, beat him a couple times out of that zone coverage and then they pulled him out. I felt like Didn’t he not start the game, too? Let me check. Let me double check. I thought he started, but I just remember him. It seemed he’s in the starting lineup on the game. It seemed I think they pulled him like in the first quarter cuz they took him out right away in the first quarter then cuz they had him in zone and it like for whatever reason there was just he was kind of on soft coverage and then we never saw him again. So I don’t know if he he was banged up. I don’t remember he he was hurt a week before. So how many snaps did he play? Standby. Let me do that. Let me do that. Not many. Cuz then Bradwell I believe came in for him. Uh Greg Newsome, the Jaguars cornerback in the game, had uh 27 snaps, 32%. But he’s in on Was he on special teams? 10 on special teams. Yeah. Yeah. 10 on defense. So he had 17 on defense. He had 27 on defense, 32% on special teams. 10 on special teams. 33% of the special teams. And special teams. He was in there in the second half, too. So it wasn’t I mean I don’t think it’s an injury then if he’s playing special teams, right? Maybe there’s no maneuvering guys around. He got yanked. Maybe he got yanked. Maybe he did. Maybe Maybe he’s going to get the Kaylin Saunders treatment. Let’s come back in a moment. We’re keeping it real here. Apparently, we’re doing it early. We’re back in a moment. We’ll take a look at the Jaguars offensive skill players who had days at the office yesterday. We’re on 1010XLAM, Jaguars.com, and Jaguars YouTube. You know, I think just the belief we have in in in our team, in the locker room, and like I said, I think we’ve grown from some of the tough losses, too, over the season. You know, we’ve had some tough losses, too. You know, you know, like you said, we’ve won a lot of the close ones, but we’ve also had some close losses. So, I think you learn from it and you learn that uh in the NFL every week it’s it’s a week toe league. You got a week- toeek league and you got to play well and then uh what the all these games are going to be close. You just got to find a way to finish. So it doesn’t matter what happened the first three quarters of the game. You just got to find a way to to win it in the fourth and uh I think we’re learning that and we’re doing a good job with that and we just got to keep doing it. That’s quarterback Trevor Lawrence. Of course, four giveaways in the game, three interceptions, one fumble lost and it is his first career win in a game with three or more giveaways. How about that? H was over before. Welcome back. It is Jaguars. You would think that’s the case, JP. Clearly. Yes. Usually how that works. One follows the other. But by the way, the elephant in the room has been uh we haven’t brought it up. Huh? What’s that, Pete? We haven’t brought up the elephant in the room today. What’s that? Why in the hell did you kick the field goal? Well, keep it real right now. I mean, we can we can do that if you want. Um, were we going to go use that for keeping it real? We weren’t um sent for the co-pilot. No, we can do that later in the summer. Love the coil. Hey, I just want answers, man. I sent you guys I sent you guys a video of that play to I can’t wait to watch it, Pete. Um, so all right, let’s get to that then. I mean, the Jags are up three. It’s fourth down. They’re deep in territory and they go for it on fourth down and don’t get it. Okay. Now, the rational rationale is to get get a yard and a half. It wasn’t a yard either. That was the longest yard. What was it on the game book? It said a yard, but that just shows you the difference between an inch and two. You know, it’s almost two yards. So, the idea is to get the first down and the game’s over. Okay. Mhm. Okay. I get it. Yes. But why not kick to make it six with no timeouts left? And the thinking is, okay, well, they’ll go down and they’ll have shots in the end zone to try and beat you. But the other side of that is this. when you play it the way by kicking the field goal, you know, the only way they can beat you is with a touchdown. So, you defend them differently as well. And so, I think in that scenario, I kick, make it six, and if that team goes down and gets a touchdown with no timeouts left, then so be it. They deserve to win the game. That’s the way I would have played it. But this is the NFL today, Pete. They’re bucking the So, what does it mean? They’re all that doesn’t mean they’re all right. I mean, I I went through a laundry list last night watching every game of the idiots and morons doing it everywhere over the league. I mean, you’re 167 in the Saints game. You’re down, but oh, that’s nine. You think you have a fourth down inside the 15 yardd line twice. You think you try and kick a field goal to make it six? Nah. Nah, don’t need to. Yeah. See, like this is where where the analytics drive me a little crazy because I feel like teams I mean, every team’s doing this and I feel like it’s it’s falling flat on its face. So like next year, you mean to tell me we go to the analytics like? Well, analytics actually say kick that field goal because teams aren’t really converting like they want to. Like who knows what the whole analytics will say about next year, but what do the analytics say when you’ve had four turnovers and your defense has only surrendered 17 points? Like what do the analytics say about that? Maybe rely on your defense. Like I understand because Dan Campbell has has won a locker room with this type of behavior, right? By saying we’re going to go out there and win the football game with our offense. Jared Goff and company, I believe in you. Go win us the football game. you know, and and I think he’s got a lot of people that support him because of that kind of philosophy. This is still a young team, still learning their coach and everything. I would have much rather kicked that field goal right there and then tell my defense, “Hey, there many timeouts. They Ben don’t break. Don’t give up the long one and let’s get this win.” Like I I would have, but this is me being a defensive guy, but I would have put it on my defense to say we’re up by six right now. Keep them out of the end zone. Simple as that. Yeah. And you know, look, I praise the hell out of Liam Conn. I think Liam Con’s done a great I think he’s a great coach. I’ll be honest with you. I think he’s on his way to being a really truly special coach in this league. He gets it. The players respect him. And he’s also a great play caller. So, you could buy, you know, sometimes you get the great play caller can’t handle the room. Sometimes you get the guy who can handle the room, he can’t call plays. He can do both. But when it comes to game management, at times irrational. And I thought that was irrational the other day on Sunday. I’ll give you another example being irrational. At the end of the half, he hits the shot to Jacobe Meyers. Then they ruled it was incomplete. Then he had 8 seconds. Why in the hell would you try and throw a pass in that situation? The only thing that can happen there is bad. You can get the quarterback hit, he get hurt. You can get in a turnover, that turns into points. You can’t in 8 seconds. You’re not completing the pass to get you into the field goal range with no timeouts to set up to kick a field goal. It’s not happening. It’s impossible. It’s not possible. The mechanics of it say it’s not possible. So why would you just take a D and go to the half once the other one was ruled incomplete. You you can’t do anything there. That’s the kind of situational stuff that drives me up a wall. I wonder I mean obviously it’s his first year as a head coach having him make these decisions too. So, I mean, he’ll, I’m sure, review it at the end of the season and figure out maybe the if some might be the same course of action, the fourth down going in aggressively, but in that situation, Pete, you might realize, you know what? Yeah, that’s that’s impossible. But, but you can kind of get it though, right? Because Pete, you mentioned it like, yes, he is a great play caller, but he’s kind of mastered the psychology, I feel like, of a locker room as well. And and I think you have an offense that is looking for some more motivation, looking for something to rally behind. Like if I’m Liam Cohen, I tell her, “Hey, this is it. If you guys convert, you know, convert this long fourth and one or fourth and one and a half, the game’s.” So like maybe that’s more of him just saying, “Let’s give me a little bump here on the offense.” Cuz keep in mind, they did it in Cincinnati as well. And he gave Brian Thomas Jr. an opportunity to try to win the football game. We know how that ended, right? He dropped it on fourth down. So it’s not like it’s out of characteristic for Liam Cohen. This is what he wants to do. That’s right. I feel like he’s trying to give his offense some more confidence. It’s just it’s not working. It’s Dan Campbell. I mean, Dan now not on that level when a few years ago, right? But well, the Giants did it yesterday that and against the Lions. They had a they’re up three, had a fourth down on the goal line and decided that we’ll go for it and they went for it. Lions went down and got a field goal, went to overtime and won at overtime. I mean, you you got to if you got to make a team drive to a touchdown to beat you, that’s the way to play it. I’m sorry. Now, if there’s five minutes to go in the game, it’s a different story. But there was what, a minute and whatever and no timeouts. They had no timeouts. And and by the way, that’s another thing about the analytics game we all talk about. What did it say on the stat sheet on that play, JP? Fourth and fourth and one. That wasn’t four. Okay. If it’s an inch to the to the yard line, it’s fourth and one. That was barely that was almost two full yards. that was, you know, so that all fourth and ones aren’t created the same either, but by the analytics they are. In all the data they throw in, every fourth and one is the same. And they’re not all the same, we just saw that yesterday. They’re not the same. Inches to a little over a yard. That’s a that’s a yard difference, right? It’s a different play. And and by the way, the play call, as great a play call or is it Ben? I didn’t like that play call. What would you wouldn’t have done? Everybody in the world knew he was booting on three. Okay, I’m gonna I’ll give you Okay, I’m going to give you an example. After Trevor threw the interception and they they went behind the first play. I was sitting there going, “God, I can’t imagine he’s going to throw the ball on first down.” And what did he do? He ran a boot, got him outside and hit Strange for that big play down the sideline. I went, “Oh my god, he that’s why he’s a great play caller. I’m the idiot. He’s a great play caller.” And then and he is a great play caller. I think he’s really going to be special once he gets all the weapons around him. But then you go and I didn’t like the half field bootleg. I don’t know what he was trying to do there. Well, to me, I mean, okay, I think Trevor I mean I mean I’ll try to break it. Yeah. I mean I think so. Listen, Trevor seems to be when he’s on the run when it’s a little more chaotic, I think he’s a better quarterback. So I think that wouldn’t do that play call. Now the problem with that play call was well, you’re on the right hash, so you’re already on the short side of the field. So, you’re essentially running your quarterback to the short side of the field. You don’t have a lot of room to work with. Now, Arizona made a great play and everything that they had great discipline there, but I think the thought was is all right, you have an intermediate pass you can go to. There’s a deep pass you can go to or if it’s there, just take the, you know, take the ball, Trevor, and get that one yard. So, there was a couple options there. The problem was was towards the short side of the field and all those options were taken. It was a great, you know, defensive play call by the Cardinals as well. Yeah, sometimes in those scenarios, what I would like is if you spread them out, you know, because everybody gets so bunched up together in those situations, if you spread them out, you give your quarterback a read or maybe he can run it, you know, like we saw him run on the quarterback draw the one time. There are other options there. I don’t know. I didn’t like the play call, but I didn’t like the decision either. I’m honest about that. But I again, I love what he does from a coaching standpoint with the locker room. His postgame speeches are spoton every time and I love him as a play caller in most situations. I just don’t think the decision there was the right one in my book. Got away with it. No, I’m and I agree. Yeah. Final moments of hour number one presented by Jet Home Loans. It’s time to visit Microsoft Co-Pilot, our weekly question. This week, the question is, what’s the Jaguars overtime record this season? It doesn’t take long for Microsoft co-pilot to tell you the Jaguars are 2 and0 in overtime games in 2025. Wins against the Raiders in week nine and the Cardinals in week 12. And welcome back. It is Jaguars happy hour. JP Shadrick, Austin Lane, Pete Brisco, and Austin. Careful JP don’t don’t like you know without that processor there with that that hard question. Well, you know what? We can do that later in a different segment because you like to double down off camera. Austin loves that. He loves that. Absolutely. just to test it out. Test out the systems. I’m just trying to see where we are with AI now. You know what I’m saying? I’m I’m I always air on the side of caution when it comes to AI. What do you Why don’t you ask that thing if uh Liam Cohen should have kicked a field goal in that situation? Well, we can do that and we’ll we can do that in the second hour if you want because that thing could be as wrong as he was. Oh man. Wow. Hey, you know what? Overtime. Speaking of strategy, Jaguars took the ball first in overtime. Mhm. So, which most teams are not doing, right? So, what what do you guys prefer in that case now since both teams get a possession now? So, there’s arguments for both sides. Obviously, it worked against the Raiders, right? You won that football game. If it’s me, I would actually kick off and I would I would take the ball second because I I like being in more control of knowing exactly what I need to do. Do I need a field goal? Do I need a touchdown? I think that I think once again, I’m not sure what the analytics say. I’m not sure what co-pilot says, but to me, I feel a lot more comfortable knowing exactly what I have to do. Plus, you can go for it. Correct. You know, if you if you’re like, if it was fourth down and you knew you needed a touchdown, you go for it. So, the other way around, you don’t necessarily do that. Yeah. Now, the other way around is is that the defense could be gassed, right? So you put the defense back out there if you’re the Jaguars or or you use enough time that it’s problematic that they don’t get enough time to go get a get a a touchdown, but if you got one, you know what I mean? So there’s there’s both ways. I just think I’d rather know just like the college team. The college teams always defer, right? So they know what to Yeah. what they have to do. If they only have to kick a field, they only have they get it at the 25 going in. So you can just kick the field goal on first down. So true. Right. But but still, you’d rather Wouldn’t you rather know? I’d rather know. But because now his thinking might be, I’m going to go use as much time off the clock as I possibly can and they get the ball back. Whatever I did get, they’re not going to have a lot of time to go get it. You can also think it that way. I’ I’d do it the other way. I I would definitely do it the other way. Same. All right. There’s the answer right there. What the What did the AI say? AI. Haven’t gotten into that one yet. Haven’t gotten into that one yet. Uh so hey, we’ll we’ll touch a little deeper on this um on this schedule coming up in a little while and the the the path ahead for the Jaguars here, but I mean the path’s looking pretty good right now, right? The Titans. I mean, you’re talking playoffs at Thanksgiving with this. Think about that. That’s the most I mean, that’s all you need to know. That’s all you And like you said, they’d be the six seed right now. It’s incredible. Mhm. I I don’t remember this even happening in 17. Like they got hot later than this to get in. Yeah. And then 2022 certainly not. I mean they were four games back in the division. Yeah. I mean it’s crazy if you would have told me you know when the season started that oh yeah by the time you get to Thanksgiving Jaguars are well in the playoff picture and and they’re comfortable and and we’re having fun. I’d have been like okay well obviously the offense might must be like a top eight offense in the league. Defense is doing okay. And like it doesn’t feel like that’s the case right that that there’s been some ugly wins. There’s been some ugly losses as well, but the fact of the matter is is that they’re in the playoff picture and that’s all that matters. Like once again, sometimes it’s not about the destination. I’m sorry. It’s not about the journey, it’s the destination. And right now, destination looking pretty peachy. Jack, it’s looking very peachy. Yeah. I mean, I I’d almost nah, I can’t I was going to say I’m Oh, Pete, come on. What were you about to do there? Maybe number two. I got to think about it a little bit. Come on, Pete. I’ll tell you right now. I’m I mean, come on, Pete. Come on, Pete. Come on. What are you doing? What are you doing, Austin? You know, you know what I’m thinking about? I’m I’m thinking about maybe, you know, shutting that door a little bit. Maybe turning the key a little bit. I’m thinking about it. Wow. Not for a game. I’m thinking about doing it the other way for the playoffs. Yeah. Oh, he’s going to Wow. Is that like bonus points? I mean, that’s that’s multiple wins ahead. That’s that’s EVP status right there if he gets that. Maybe. Yeah, but I’m not I’m not locking individual games. I’m just locking the big picture. And he’s not locking road games cuz he doesn’t lock road games. I don’t lock road games, but I’m locking. Go ahead and lock the damn playoffs. Okay. How’s that? We’ll be in the playoffs. It’s not even Thanksgiving and Pete has locked the door on the Jags going to the playoff tickets. Okay. Wow. I got to consult with my financial adviser before before I I make that decision. I thought we’re just going by a game-on-game basis. I got I’m telling you, I look at the schedule. I look at the team. I look at where they are. I look at the rest of the AFC. Lock the damn playoffs, okay? And it and and there’s a legitimate chance for them to win the division. H. All right. Okay. A playoff lock here. Three days before Thanksgiving. I mean, here I thought I’m I’m going to lock the Tennessee Titans game and we’re going to be going and like it’s a dud now. Like Pete’s bringing like these these giant Roman candles in and I have snakes and sparklers for this Titans game. Cool. Awesome. They just out. I just I just got I just got upstaged. All right. You got to one up him, man. Hey, you know what? What? Super Bowl lockision that one. Come on. You can double. I don’t think anybody in their right mind would lock that one, man. I better be on the Kismmit. If I lock that in and it happens, I better get the the first ticket to the Kismmit shot, right? You’d be You actually might be the Forget about EVP. You might be the the pre the big dog. I’m with I’m with the Jaguars and AW. I’m I’m a conglomerate. Think about how many how many little soft hoodies you’d be getting if that man all the Lululemon you seasons too. I had a Four Seasons. Did you see Liam Cohen speech? The hoodie was in the back over there. The Lululemon hoodie was in the back Lululemon in his Lululemon hoodie. Happened to be over his shoulder in the shot somehow. Funny how that works. And you saw what he was wearing. He was wearing the hoodie. I’m telling you, that has to be. Look, the fans of Jacksonville have kind of wanted something like that for their own. They have it now. The Lululemon hoodie. It’s yours. And he’s made it. They’ve made it a thing because James Gladstone had it. Tony wanted it, got it, now wears it, and it is a thing. Pete, what are you rocking, man? Are we rocking the uh bibong today for for the trifecta bibong? Hurley Hurley going back to the hurly. By the way, by the way, squint 182, here we come again. We would wear those Lululemon ones, but we would only do that. Austin needed to wear them. I can’t wear them, but Austin could wear them. I think Austin could wear that. Let’s come back. Let’s get everyone home safely. Jaguars an overtime winner in Arizona yesterday. 2724. Another road win, another West Coast win for the Jaguars. technically mountain time zone, but we’ll count it. 3-0 out west this year. This time they overcame four giveaways to knock off the Cardinals. Trevor Lawrence had a lost fumble that was returned for a touchdown and three second half interceptions, but he also threw three touchdown passes in the win. Skill players stepped up. Parker Washington played big. Jacobe Meyers had some key catches. Brenton Strange with a career-high 93 yards in his return from the injured reserve list. Jags defense huge after those turnovers getting off the field in some adverse moments as they have a lot of this season. And the Jaguars have now won back-to-back games. Three of four since the bye-week. They’re seven and four, second in the AFC South, only one game back of the Colts and now the number six seed in the AFC playoff race. Austin Lane in studio with me at the Hyundai Studios, the Miller Electric Center. Pete Prrisco, CBS Sports senior writer down in South Florida as we begin hour number two of Jaguars happy hour. And that West Coast thing’s done now, Pete. It’s done. It’s over. They they just they just threw that to the side now. It helped you play two bad teams over there. Oh, man. But but okay. Well, okay. What if they had gone to play the Rams and the Seahawks? Would this West Coast thing still be a thing? It’s a good quote, man. I guess that’s a point. Um, uh, here’s the thing about the kicker’s got himself right again. I mean, that that was a big- time kick because if you don’t make that kick Oh, yeah. You’re giving him the You’re giving him the ball in point blank range basically to go get the game-winning field goal. He had to have that kick. That’s a big kick. Two 52 yarders in the game. Yeah. 52, right? Yeah. His second 52 yard of the game. Yeah. Those are like 52 yarders back in the day used to be long kicks. Now it’s like oh ho hom 52 yard. There was somebody made a 63 yard yesterday in the league. It’s like ah no big deal just if it’s 50 yard which is why it goes back to our theory on why you kick your field goal to make it six points. No without a doubt cuz like and to echo Pete like back in the day I remember even like when I played a 50 yarder was like hey grab the kids and grab the family. You guys got to see this. And now it’s like don’t even get up what you’re doing. It’s 50 yards. It’s not a big deal. It’s it’s wild. But I’ll say this much, man. That’s I love the access. I I I love the energy. Um especially and like I don’t want this come across the wrong way, but there’s a lot of offensive minded guys out there that I feel like can’t bring energy, right? Like I always felt like the energy and and the locker room was more of like a defensive guy because it’s based off of more of just grit and toughness. You’re calling him a bunch of nerds. Is that what you’re saying? There we go. Yeah. I mean, you not wrong though. Yeah. I mean, you said it. But um but but you see in that situation there and shout out to the producer because you’re the real MVP for editing out all the the language and everything. I wonder what he said was bleeped out. I couldn’t tell. I think I think we have a good idea. You can figure it out. You can do your research. Ask the AI whenever whenever this whenever the uh the hoodie was smiling in the back. You could figure it out. But it’s but it’s really cool and it’s really refreshing because I feel I mean Shawn McY fits in this mold as well, but you don’t see a lot of offensive-minded guys that can bring that type of energy. And it’s genuine. And obviously it’s genuine from Liam Cohen. It’s an there’s an edge to him. Yeah, there’s there there’s a definite edge to him and and I think his players respect him for that. And and again with a challenging week, you come off a big victory and you go play a team you’re supposed to beat out on the road and you opening drive, you go boom boom boom boom boom right down the field. I mean that that tells me that they were ready to play and that’s that’s a sign of a good football coach. Great to see it. Love to see it. Uh I I asked co-pilot again about uh you ready for this? Are we asking about the Yeah. decision to kick it or Why did Liam Cohen go for it on fourth down in the fourth quarter yesterday against the Cardinals? I asked it. Here we go. Okay. Here’s what it said. The quick answer. Liam Cohen went for it on fourth down in the fourth quarter against the Cardinals because he wanted to stay aggressive, trust his offense, and avoid giving the ball back in a tight game. The decision was risky and nearly backfired, but it reflected his philosophy of playing to win rather than settling for conservative calls. Yeah, that’s co-pilot done by Dan Campbell. Does does Dan Campbell have stock and co-pilot? Is that what this is? Is this like Chrisf? I bet if you ask co-pilot, why did Dan Campbell go for it in the fourth quarter? Even if he didn’t, they say exact same answer. I bet you go ahead, say it. Ask the same question. I guarantee it’s the exact same answer. And there’s the flaw in that quarter. Go for it on fourth down in the fourth quarter. It’s going to be the exact same. Well, I was going to say, isn’t this a sponsored thing? Yeah, we’re going to get encyclopedias pretty soon back up in here instead of this thing. Here we go. Dan Campbell went for it on fourth down in the fourth quarter because he embraces an aggressive coaching philosophy, prioritizing trust in his players and the chance to secure control of the game rather than settling for safer options like field goals. similar little bit. It’s different. It’s similar. Look, look, it was he got away with the decision, but he won the game. But you got to go back and reevaluate that if you’re a coach and say, “Did I make the right decision or did I not?” And but Austin, to your point earlier, I mean, that’s the decision he’s made earlier this season already in consistent like, you know, that’s going to be him. It feels like because that might have lost the game at Cincinnati. Yeah, but again, and I go back to you mentioned Dan Campbell. I’m glad you mentioned that because early in his process, he had to be that way because his team won very good. But once your team gets good, you don’t necessarily have to be that same way anymore. So why is it bad for the Jags to try it? Well, they’re in a playoff race right now. Oh, okay. Different. They’re a playoff team. Let’s not forget I already guaranteed it. They’re going to get your ticket. You locked it. You locked it an hour one. If you just joined us, Pete locked a playoff birth for the Jaguars before Thanksgiving. I did before Thanksgiving. They will be in the playoffs. Well, let me ask you guys this real quick because I’m under the impression that if you’re a playoff caliber type of team, you’re supposed to beat the teams handedly that are supposed to be beat. And like, and I get the Cardinals are gritty and everything, but you look at that roster, like they didn’t really scare you. And you know, it goes to overtime. If you go back to that Raiders game, you’re supposed to handle them. I feel like I mean, yeah, they have great players, Brock Bowers, Max Crosby, but like I felt like you’re supposed to probably handle that game as well. You got the Jets, you got the Titans coming up, teams that obviously the the record reflects what type of team they are. Do Do we need to see this team win by more than, you know, a field goal or more than an overtime victory? Like, do we need to see a 10-point victory here against the Titans against just to kind of reaffirm against the bed against the Chargers team? Yeah, but like I don’t think you’re even playing down I think that was them getting up and saying, you know what, like you’re saying playing down to I’m saying playing down to teams that you’re supposed to beat. Like you talk about that Cardinal team. That Cardinals team in Indianapolis should have won on the road earlier this season. I mean, with with Jacobe Brassette is the quarterback and a lot of close games and the Titans beat him. So, what are we really saying though? Yeah. I mean, I think the league is so wide open this year, Austin, that the the days of great teams, supposedly great teams, blowing out teams that aren’t that good consistently are aren’t h it’s not happening this year. I mean, look at look at the Lions yesterday. They play the Giants, right? Bad team at home. You’re back home in your building and they got pushed to the fourth quarter in overtime. I mean, it’s just that just teams are playing because there’s not that much difference between the great teams and the bad teams anymore. There just isn’t. Austin, are you trying to impress the AP voters or something? Like what’s going on? No, I mean um I mean what are you what are you trying to do? The college football playoff committ to victory. So So Pete obviously has the Jaguars going to, you know, to the playoffs. I think a team you have to go through at least once is Indianapolis Colts. I think if you look at the Colts right now in terms of their wins against teams that they’re supposed to beat, I feel like the Colts have dominated all those teams. I think it says not the Cardinals. I mean, yeah, I guess not the Cardinals, but every other game I feel like it was kind of a a curb stomping. Now, maybe I’m wrong. I don’t have the numbers in front of me, but for from what I remember about the Colts, I feel like the the games against the Titans and everything in those games, they leave no doubt of of who the better team is. And Jacksonville’s left out in bad in games against bad teams. They have. You know who’s stomping teams right now? The LA Rams are stomping teams right now. Yeah, they are. They are. They’re I mean, but Okay, let’s look at this though. The best the best team with the best record in the AFC is the New England Patriots, right? New Patriots. Okay. Who did they lose to on opening week? Raiders. Yeah, I think. Right. Is that the Yeah. I mean I mean you know so it’s it’s just such a hard league to gauge. It’s it’s just so I mean Buffalo went to Miami after beating the Chiefs and and lost to the Dolphins. That’s true. Yeah. It’s just this year it’s so wide open. The whole league is wide open. The playoffs are wide open. It’s just incredible. Team gets hot. They got a chance. Mhm. H uh Austin, you got them ranked 12th or 13th in your poll in the NFL. What where are you with the Jets? About I think they’ll be 12th. I like them 12th. I mean, not anywhere near like a, you know, like a first round buy yet or anything like that in the in the first four. But did you start calling SIDs to try and get in? No first place votes from you. No, I can’t quite go there yet. Remember when they used to have the coaches pull the sides actually out voted all all for the coaches poll. You got to call them and get some favors. It’s amazing. It’s funny how that works. And now they do it by committee. Pete, that’s exciting. Do you do you get part of the committee? No. The playoff committee is like what 15 people. Gotcha. It’s like ads and uh yeah, administrators and all this stuff and some play former player I think or two or something on there. It’s just right. It’s a bad system. Yeah. It’s a This is why the NFL is the king. You play it to win it. Yeah. There’s no voting. Nobody needs to vote. And strength of victory. What is that? You go win. You go win the game. Quity loses. Quality wins. Yeah. Well, he’s in a better conference and so he’ll get in and he won’t. It’s just Look, in the a in the NFL, you win to get in. That’s basically what it is. Sure, you can win your division and get in and have a worse record, but that’s the way it’s struct That’s the structure of the league. That’s the way. You still got to win to get in, right? Everybody was complaining last year with the Lions and that like go win. Yeah. If you if you lose, you have a chance of not being the champ. I mean, I will say one thing, and it’s definitely an anomaly, but I do feel like if you win your division with a losing record, you should not be able to host a a home game. I’m sorry. Yeah, but see, I always disagree with that. It’s all cyclical. It comes around. It goes around comes. There’s always going to be, you know, a year where the that happens in one division and maybe in another. That was the NFC West. Remember the Seahawks? Like I know I’m going to play like No, sure. But the Saints did the Saints do it one year, too. But I’m I’m not for rewarding losing. Like you’re you’re essentially saying, “Hey, you guys lost one year away. Enjoy a home game.” Well, then guess what? Step your game up in the division. They won the division. Yeah. With a losing record. So they won the division. But but then basically you’re saying the divisions don’t matter then. I’m saying that if you have a losing record in your division, then guess what? Your division does not matter that year and the wild card team gets to host it. I’m not going to reward a team for losing more games than they’ve won. Like that’s not what sports should be, I feel like. Yeah. I think you got to keep if you’re going to keep the divisions, you got to keep the structure. Participation ribbons, everything. That’s cool. Yeah. I mean, just like the power rankings are so important, too, let me tell you. Right. They’re not they’re not important at all. I’ve been doing them for 25 years and and more people get upset about those things than anything I do. God, I can’t wait for Austin’s power rankings to come out next. Jeez. By division, he’s going to call the SID. I’ll tell you right now, the MC South is looking good though. Are they the power? Are they not are they just saying we see that? I’m the same. You got to bump them up a little more. I mean, how the Colts and Jaguars would be in. So, you’d have two and the Texans are pushing it. But, you know, they’re going to start those. The Texans play the Colts twice. M the Jaguars play the Colts twice. The Texans schedule is brutal. They’re going to start eating each other alive. I still think the final spot is going to come down to the Chargers and the Chiefs and whoever wins that game when they meet. That’s what it’s going to be. Love that. Uh let’s come back in a moment. We’re going to keep it real. We uh we faked it there with Austin with the the AP pole business. So, we’re going to come back. That was all a bit and my locking. My lock didn’t even count. It was all a bit. Um, we’re going to figure out how to find explosive plays on offense when we come back. Obviously, we had four turnovers and they were all on me. So, I own that and I got to I got to do my job and take care of the ball and not put our defense in tough spots. Totally get that. And um but I’m never going to never going to play scared. I’m going to continue to let it rip. And I think that’s why, you know, we we have a chance at the end of the day is cuz you keep playing. Um, so never going to apologize for that. But I will say cannot turn the ball over four times. So I own that and know I got to clean that up. But I’ll watch it and see what it was. Trevor Lawrence after the game yesterday. Jaguars quarterback in a winning result. The result matters. Overtime win 2724. Jaguars now 7-4. And heading into Thanksgiving week, they’ll visit the Titans coming up on Sunday. It’s Jaguars happy hour. 10XL. jaguars.com, Jaguars YouTube, JP Shadrick, Austin Lane, Pete Prrisco in time for keeping it real. Still available for the holidays and and they start on Thursday and available for the playoffs, too, apparently. Playoffs. Playoffs. Oh, yeah. Yeah. See, people are going to miss the boat when the playoffs are going on and everybody’s the town’s going crazy and you’re not sponsoring that segment. You’ll miss out. And you’ve locked it, so it’s going to happen. Oh, of course I wouldn’t have locked it. We just heard from the quarterback. I won’t I won’t lock road games, but I’ll lock the playoffs. Exactly. You’re not going to lock the game in Tennessee this week. No. Why? Cuz the NFL is so weird. It is. It is. Uh, keeping it real. We started from the quarterback and hey, the Jaguars have not had many explosive plays in the passing game this year. Really none. I I can’t even remember one launched down the field, caught deep ball. They tried a few. Um, but how do they find those plays in the passing game coming up? Can they keep it going without true deep threats on the field? I mean, Brian Thomas hasn’t been out there for two weeks. And is it sustainable to keep producing an offense without the deep threat? That’s a lot. Yeah. So if you see that second half where Arizona comes out, they were stacking the box. Like Buddha Baker was essentially on the line of scrimmage saying, “All right, either it’s going to be short intermediate passes or it’s going to be the run, but if you want to beat us deep, good luck. We haven’t seen it yet.” And they kind of put the Jaguars all in there. I would assume when Brian Thomas Jr. comes back, now that Jacobe Myers has kind of taken his spot of being that trustworthy, down the middle type of dude, you’re going to need someone on the outside to run that go route. And I think Brian Thomas Jr. is more than capable of. And it’s not even necessarily like throwing it down deep, you know, five, six times a game. It’s just the threat of it because right now teams aren’t even threatened by your ability to go deep. So hopefully Brian Thomas Jr. gets back healthy um in time for Tennessee and then they can utilize him in that capacity. Is he supposed to be back JP? It looks like he was close last week. They said, I mean, I think he was close the last two weeks. Well, if he’s back and I’m with Austin, he needs to go. He That’s what he does. That’s who he is. We know he doesn’t like going over the middle. And so now you got a guy who can go over the middle, two of them actually, because Parker Washington can go over the middle as well. Then get him down the field and and and take take some shots and take some. There was a play Sunday where I don’t know if you remember this one, Austin, where they blitzed Trevor Lawrence and he couldn’t get to it, but Breton Strange was wide open with his hand up. He throws um it’s to the to the back, right? He throws the back and the back gets tackled for it. Doesn’t even happen. Yeah. Yeah. Strange is wide open. You see You see Strange, he’s by himself. It would have been a touchdown. Yeah. And he’s got his hand up and he can’t and and and I’m going to defend Trevor a little bit on that cuz the blitz wasn’t picked up. He couldn’t get to that throw. He There’s no way he could have made that throw. So, he just took what was available because of the blitz. And on the on the you know the sack, fumble, turnover, touchdown that that’s got to be blocked better. That’s not that’s that’s not on Trevor. You can see that that’s a protection issue. And and I I’m not sure who’s I don’t think it was Strange. I’m not sure who was to blame on that, but that was a protection issue. So, here’s And once again, I don’t know the play call, so it’s hard to to put the blame on somebody. It looks like Strange is expecting the ball to go out a lot quicker because he if this was a long developing play, I feel like Strange would probably would have stayed in and chipped him a little more. But to me, it was just like he pushes him, he gets the release, and I thought, you know, Strange thought that it was going to be a quick, you know, a three-step and just fire. Trevor made it seem like it was going to be a longer play when he rolled out like he did. It’s almost like Strange thought the ball was coming to him. He was looking back. They’re just, you know, once again, I’m not sure this is on Strange or this Trevor. No, I don’t think it’s on Strange. I think they might have needed to slide that protection the other way. Okay. And I mean to toward that and if you look at it I think but here’s the other part of that. If he throws the ball he’s trying to throw that might have been picked. Did you see it? Did you watch the 22 of it? He didn’t open and he’s trying to throw that deep out. He’s not open. Whereas if he and when you watch that did you watch the 22 Austin? Did you see? Yeah I saw that 22. Yes. Yeah. On that play he pro it was third and five if I’m not mistaken or third and six. Yeah, I think it was he’s got Meyers for about seven yards on the little curl inside. I think you can almost see it on the play when we watch it again. And he doesn’t even look at him right there. Yeah, there he is. But see, and this is first down. And this is why I thought it was going to be like a quick play, right? Because Strange is blocking there. You had Meyers in like that that you know the curl route or whatever you want to call it. Like it’s a bang bang play and it seems like Trevor tried to extend it a little more. I don’t know. But once again, I mean, he didn’t have much the guys in the back field in two seconds. So, by the way, yeah, that was we’re talking about receivers and possibilities down the field. Where’s Deami Brown? Four plays yesterday on offense. So, and that that’s that that experiment is over. Yeah, I think it’s going to be here. Yeah, I think it goes to show you that if you’re not willing in the run game um to block and and be physical, doesn’t matter how much you’re getting paid, if you can’t do your job, they don’t, you know, they don’t care how much money they’re giving you. Like, they’ll bring up somebody that’s more hungry. And I feel like right now that’s what’s happening. Yeah. And they admit their mistakes. I give them a lot of credit for that because they cut one already. They traded Tyson Campbell. They they sat down Newsome. I mean, they admit their mistakes. I I think I give I most teams don’t do that. You hold on to your mistakes and you play your mistakes too long a lot of the time. Uh so I I’m with you, Austin. I think they they make they admitted their mistakes and Deami Brown right now is a one he signed a one-year contract. He’s a mistake. He’s not going to be back next year. You talk about a guy who you saw the one the long run that ETN had. You saw who made the key block on that play. Meyers did. Yep. Myers and Munt were the key blocks on that play. and and and you’re right. You want your receivers to block in this offense. So, yeah, I’m DeAndre Brown’s that’s done. I mean, it’s he he’s not going to be here next year. You can take that guaranteed to the bank. Beautiful run. By the way, this is still keeping it real, correct? Or are we not keeping it real? No, we’re keeping it real. So, I mean, it’s real. Yeah. So, if we’re going to keep this real quick, I’ve said it before on the show and I’ll say it again. Are you going to pay up for Travis ETN? because I think yesterday once again this is the best thing you have going on your offense right now and I understand that it’s going to be Toot and Allen the young guys going forward but I thought Allen yesterday and in the wasn’t a lot of reps but there was that one play where where he tried to you know step up in the the blitzing lane didn’t do a great job and got beat and also Ton I thought yesterday didn’t have his best game either meanwhile ETN I think is still uh pretty dependable ETN 116 scrimmage yards and a touchdown yesterday. Averaging 95 scrimmage yards a game and four touchdowns since week nine. So, he’s hot right now. Had the drop yesterday, but I think he does have the drop. Probably gets more run. Yeah, you you tag you tag him. That’s what you do. Put the franchise tag on. What did we say it was? 14. Yeah, it’s not too bad. It’s one year. I mean, you can’t you can’t I don’t know. I think you give out those long-term deals to running backs, you’re risking it. But you’re paying. He take the for he take the 14. I mean, I’m keeping him regardless, JP. Whether that’s the franchise tag or or the contract makes sense. But I’m not letting that guy go. I think he’s the most consistent thing you have on your offense right now. I think he’s helping you win football games. And I just feel like whether it’s on offense or defense, you you never let go of your best players. And I think right now on offense, he is your best player. But you got to remember, they have um they don’t have a first round pick. They got a ton of needs other than running back. You know, they gota they still have a lot of problems on that team that are kind of getting masked a little bit. I hear you. I I’ll tell you this though, with Jacobe Myers being on that team, if if Hunter was healthy and Thomas was playing well, they probably wouldn’t have made that trade. But I think that’s a trade that’s going to ultimately benefit them for the long term. I really do. I I I think I think he’s a pros pro and you watch him play. He plays hard. You watch him run routes. He runs good routes. He knows how to sit down in zones, which a lot of those guys don’t know how to do by the way. He’s just And now you got to keep him. So now if you have Brian Thomas, if he decides he’s going to play this year and become something, you have Travis Hunter when he comes back who gives you a little juice in terms of speed. You have Parker Washington who’s pure 100% football player. All of a sudden that receiving group pretty good. If and it’s one big if. If Brian Thomas can show that last year was not a fluke and the beginning of this year was, he just comes back and he’s the guy he was a year ago. Who’s the odd man out of that group then though, assuming that you do bring back Meyers? You got Meyers, Parker Washington, you got Travis Hunter, you got Brian Thomas Jr. Who’s the first guy that’s going to be on the bench? Well, I think Travis Hunter end up becoming a spot guy in that scenario and plays all starts a corner. You know what I mean? He’s a he’s a legitimate corner and you put him in for 25 plays on offense. I think that’s what that would be. Okay. Cuz I I think Myers is a pro. I think he’s a great guy to have in your building. I mean, for him to look like what he’s looked like in in two games in a a pretty we seems like complicated offense. Yeah. I mean, this is this is what this this room has been missing though is that pro presence. I feel like Yeah. Right. Agree. A bunch of young guys still trying to find their way a little bit. I think Tim Patrick brings some of that too. Undrafted guys. Well, you know, he just doesn’t have any he doesn’t have the juice that Myers has. the performance and the numbers and everything. Myers is going to have a little bit more of that, I think. But when it comes to running, you know how guys respond to somebody who does it, you know what I mean? You can be a leader and the guy that’s a pros pro, but if you’re not putting up any numbers, they’re like, “Look at the old guy over there. He’s just talking smack and he doesn’t just need if you’re putting up numbers Yeah. and you’re talking it and telling them what to do, then there’s more respect there. By the way, he should had two touchdowns cuz he beat the corner on the play that was tipped by Kas Campbell. That was going to be a touchdown. Yes. Yes. Good play by KAS. But yeah. Yeah. Um, by the way, what what kind of number do you think Meyers would get on the market if he gets free? I don’t think it’s going to be a monster number. How old is he now? I mean, he’s what? He’s not a kid. He’s 29. 29. Yeah, he’s not a kid. You get a three-year deal for, you know, decent price. You’re not going to get He’s not going to break the bank. Like right now, his contract’s three for 33 million. That’s probably what he’s going to if he hit the market. But like this is the last he’s he becomes a free agent after this year, right? Yeah. I can see like 13 million per year as I’m saying like 13 per year. Yeah. I keep them. Yeah. I’m keeping him. I’m not letting him go. And I They didn’t trade to not keep him, by the way. I think they the idea is to keep him. Yeah. Yeah. All right. Let’s keeping it real. That’s about as real as we can get tonight. We’ll see what happens. Like keeping it real. I feel like Chad CTN’s got hype for his agent. I’ve been hyping him up on this show more than anybody. Who? To Travis ETN. Yeah. Trying to get him, right? You should be his agent. That’s what I’m saying. You’re looking for a percentage. And then they look, they look across the table at you saying, “Yeah, but he’s a running back.” I know. Yeah. I want to make the plays that come to me. I’m I’m not reaching for anything. There was no I need to do anything cuz I’m in Arizona or anything like that. I just tried to keep my composure. Uh Heath did a great job of trying to help keep me calm before the game and everything. He’s like, “I’ve been there. Amped out. It’s not the way to go, bro. Let me let me just keep you calm and collected.” And I appreciate him for that. Dennis Gard, Jaguars linebacker, playing his former team yesterday for the first time. Finished with five tackles, a sack and a half, tackle for loss, four quarterback hits, and a special teams tackle also. Welcome back. It is Jaguars happy hour. He was talking about Heath Farwell there, the special teams coordinator. And what a day for Gard. Yeah, I mean, what a day. And that’s one of the guys that Gladstone brings in in terms of intangibly rich. Well, you saw it yesterday. Now, I’m not going to lie, when Brassette went to the sidelines and got hit like he got hit and then, you know, the players started rallying around a little bit. My only thought was where’s Gard and somebody get get eyes on Gardic, please. Cuz like if it was going to pop off, it was going to be courtesy of of Gard, man. In the middle of it. You saw him over there on the sideline. He was smack dab in the middle of it. Yeah. Um, you know, we always talk about football players. He’s one. He’s a football player. A good tough physical football player. Nothing flashy or gaudy about him. Just a good hard-nosed football player. Every team needs guys like that on their roster. And I mean, he’s overcome two different knee injuries in his career. And I mean, one of those coming into this season, so I mean, he was a little slow in training camp, but found his way once. He’s now getting into up to speed. Oh, yeah. I think I think Yeah, you can tell that. I mean, he’s definitely like he reminds me of the throwback. I mean, the guys that I share locker rooms with, right? Because nowadays it’s more of like, you know, you got the Instagram and like the Twitch and every like I I I don’t see, you know, him going like on on Twitch and like streaming live like, “Hey, you know, I’m at home chilling.” And like he definitely wasn’t going to take the bait for going back to Arizona questions last week. I asked him in the locker room, “Hey, what are your feelings about going back?” He’s like, his answer was this. My wife asks me about my feelings all the time. Yeah, that’s all he said. I was like, “Well, we’re we’ll redirect here.” But that’s that’s his personality. And where’s he from? He’s from Wyoming, right? Or Montana. He’s from one of those mountainous somewhere up there states. Yeah. See, they don’t they don’t have time for feelings there. No, it’s too cold. is that I don’t have any more feelings for that place because this place paid me. There’s my feelings. Pretty much it. Yeah, the the dollars say it all. It’s time now for fan questions in the second hour presented by Mr. Chubby’s Wings. We put the cat signal out on X earlier today. Here’s the best we’ve come up with at Bortles Nation. Do you think the Jaguars will resign Jacobe Meyers? Well, I think we just kind of went through this a little bit, but it feels like so far so good in two weeks. Unless there’s something just dramatic that happens, right? Yeah. I mean, unless he gives you a reason not to sign him, like there’s an all caser or something, which I can’t see. The guy’s a pros pro, man. And I think you you got to keep guys like that. Like, you want to talk about intangibly rich as James Gladstone always says, that dude’s got it in spades. He will be back. He will be back. No qu you don’t trade those picks to bring him in and not bring him back. He’s coming back. That sounded a little Arnold Schwarzeneggerish there. It really did. He will be back. Oh yeah, he’ll be back. Nice question at Jags fan 58. 58. Why do they play a lot of soft coverage on defense? Because they don’t run in the back end. You don’t have guys who can ma match up and play man-to-man coverage. You just don’t. Montic Brown, good football player, doesn’t run very well. Um, you know, I don’t know what Jones’s time is. And on the other side, I mean, Brazwell’s not a burner either. And then you compound that with Wingard doesn’t run very well. And Antonio Johnson’s 50/50 if he’s going to play the right spot in the defense, you got to you got to play zone. Yeah. I mean, I think it’s more of just, you know, it’s a bend don’t break mentality, which is fine, but when you have that type of mentality, you talk about keeping everything in front of you, right? So you’ll you’ll you’ll give some not to get burnt and over the top. So that’s what the I think this defense is right now because they realize what they have on that back end. And you know, I think there’s physical players on that back end, but not necessarily the the biggest burners speed guys. I know, by the way, I think I think Jones has played well the last couple weeks. It’s almost like his confidence is backed. Yeah. By the way, his 40 time 4.38 at the combine. And Jones was. Yeah. Jarian Jones. Now, that one though, didn’t he kind of he had problems with that? It wasn’t all his fault because I think Dewy’s got to come down, but um to Dorch, whatever that guy the the Yeah, that one touchdown that was on Jerry and Jones, but once again, didn’t have help with the safety. Like, they both could have did a little better. Next question at Shaw 16T. Why can’t the offense get plays off on time? Can’t remember the last time we had three timeouts going into the fourth quarter. Um, it’s the mechanism of it has not been smooth and I think that has a lot to do with it’s a very very complicated offense which is why Trevor has the wristband now. Correct. Mhm. And so and I think that has a lot to do with it. And that’s another trend around the league by the way that they’re not alone with the these teams are having a hard time getting their plays in and getting to the line of scrimmage. And I think a lot of it has to do when they do get to the line of scrimmage, the play clock’s going down and they don’t they have they try and check out of something and then they realize, oh, I got no time on the play clock. Doesn’t happen. Take a timeout. And that’s where we’re at in this league right now because the defenses throw so many different looks at you right now. And I still think defenses are dictating to offenses rather than the other way around. Yeah, that’s I mean I I mean Let me ask you this though. Would you have problems with your play clock if you just went no huddle? I don’t think so. I don’t think so either. Yeah. I mean, it’s gotten better, but I did sit in that game in the second half um yesterday thinking like, okay, if this gets close to the wire, you know, those timeouts, will that come back to bite you? Because right now, I mean, we we haven’t talked about it too much, but if it does come, it happens in that one game, then it’ll obviously be blown up and everything. So, I would I would air on the side of let’s get it cleaned up now. So when you don’t have to rely on those timeouts, it doesn’t come back to bite you. We’ll get one more in off script here at FitJ asking, “Who’s your MVP and your most improved player from the team so far?” Good question. Oh, that’s a good question. Good question. Well, the most improved player is Devin Lloyd. Oh, yeah. I mean, that’s a given. That’s easy. I mean, he was awful last year and now he’s pretty good. So, I I think he’s the most improved. Well, the MVP is tough. My MVP is gonna be Travis ETN. He’s been good. Yeah. Don’t pay him though, buddy. He probably has to He probably He probably has to be the MVP. I mean, who else? It can’t be anybody else. Washington. Two punt return touchdowns. Maybe he plays on offense. He stuffed that. Well, it can’t be it can’t be the usual sus. It can’t be the quarterback. It’s not Brian Thomas. It’s not Travis Hunter. Before the season, you would you would have picked all three of those one, two, and three in some order. Yeah. And they’re not right. I mean, is there anybody on defense? No, there is. You could say Deon Lloyd again, you know. Yeah. But but no, it’s it’s probably ETN. Mhm. Wow. There you go. It goes back to my theory on what do they do really well, though, right? There’s nothing you can’t really pinpoint what you know, like every other team in the league, you could go, okay, who’s the MVP of this team or who’s the MVP of that team? You’d pick, you could find somebody, you know, the MVP. The Browns stink, but who’s the MVP of the Browns? Miles Garrett. Garrett. You know, you could you could find MVPs on every team. It’s hard to find one on that team. What do you got for the Titans? Simmons. But he hasn’t, you know, I mean, he’s been when he’s on the field, he’s their MVP. He just hasn’t played enough. See, I don’t think they have an MVP either. And I mean, certainly not enough. They also have one win. Yeah. Yeah. But see, this is why like and and once again, let’s just go and call it right now then. I’ll be locking it in. Oh yeah, you’re locking this game. Oh yeah, I will be I’ll be locking this game in. Hit the music. Absolutely. Yeah. Simply because here’s how I look at it. You go to Arizona, you have four turnovers, and you find a way to win the game. I don’t see you having four turnovers against Tennessee. And if you want to look at Arizona and say, okay, how can Arizona beat you? Well, Jacquel Brassette, you know, has been playing at a pretty high level. Well, they got a pretty good tight end. Well, Wilson’s super underrated. There’s ways that you could have saw that Arizona could have beat the Jacksonville Jaguars. Came close, but didn’t do it. I can’t see a way how Tennessee can beat the Jaguars. I I really don’t. I think their offensive line is just okay getting up the most sacks in the NFL. So, I think Josh Hines if Javon Walker comes back or whoever else Gard could could have a field day. I just don’t see the Titans beating this team. Love that. Lock it in. Yep. Lock. Lock it in. Yep. Well, if you’re if you’re locking that in, you almost are going to lock the playoffs, too, because that gives him the eighth. I’ll be taking it one one game at a time. Okay. Okay, coach. Let me let me let me week by week. This is the most important lock right now this season. And then talk to me next week. The most important lock in franchise history is the next one. There you have it. The fan questions are in. Thank you for the submissions today. Thank you for the answers today, gentlemen. I I say that every week, JP. Did he say it again last week, by the way? He did. He certainly did. And he kind of called you out a little bit, Pete, on the show. Yeah, he I talked to him. Oh, he did? He got mad at He got mad at me for He goes, “I heard you were killing me on the show.” And I go, “Of course I was.” That doesn’t even really sound like him. That wasn’t your best impression. No, but that’s that his attitude. You know the attitude. Okay, do the impression. Go ahead. Give me the impression. Who? Tony. Give me the Tony impression. Getting mad at me. Uh oh. Pete. Oh. What are you doing? Come on, Pete. It’s stupid. Don’t be stupid, Pete. It’s closer. That’s closer. I don’t know. I like it. That’s close. That’s close. Come on, Pete. What are you talking about, you idiot? Learn the game, Pete. Yeah, that’s it. You got it. All right. Let’s come back in a moment while I still have a job. And uh we’ll take a look around the National Football League and wrap it up. It’s Jaguars Happy Hour presented by Mr. Chubby’s Wings. Craving the ultimate game day experience? Look no further. You do one of these, man. What’s that? Get the back the the end zone thing. The the dance he was doing. Oh, the what’s the what? I just wanted to do the thing with the hands. This thing. Yeah. I don’t know. It’s more like a mobility like upper back workout. I don’t know if I can do that. I saw one of the best celebrations the other day was um did you see the Packers had a pick in the game against the Vikings and they went to the end zone and did skull. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It’s pretty funny. Pretty funny. Time to go around the National Football League. Four teams on a buy this week. Broncos, Dolphins, Chargers, and Commanders. Thursday, the Texans beat the Bills. That defense is real. We They got after it, man. Yeah, they that pass rush and they do it with four. They don’t they don’t bring anybody. They pressure with four and it was dominant. The Bills look lost on Thursday. Can you imagine if the Jags have finished that game and won? Would would we be seeing this from Houston right now? You have a hard time believing it. Everybody was saying, “Look how great the Texans are. Two successive weeks they blew the Jaguars blew a 19-point lead to them and the Titans went to overtime with them, right?” Yeah, it’s true. It’s a good point, Pete. See, look at you. That’s why you locked the playoffs. That’s what happened. They’re going to the playoffs. Going to the playoffs. Ravens over the Jets 23-10. The Bears beat the Steelers 31-28. First place Bears still at it. And not first place Steelers anymore. No, wildcard Steelers now. Yeah. And that’s a good win for the Bears cuz they hadn’t beaten a team with a winning record. So that that was a good win for them even though it came against Mason Rudolph, but they did they did win the game. Also, I was going to say with that Ravens game real quick, I mean, they dominated, but Derrick Henry didn’t really have that good of a day. It’s wild seeing Derrick Henry and Saquon Barkley really like regress after last season because they’re like one and two, you There’s a there’s a message in that. You using them too much usage from from last year. Yeah. And the running backs go off the cliff. Yeah. And here’s the other thing about that Ravens game. Lamar Jackson, seven carries for 11 yards. He’s not healthy. Yeah. He’s just not. By the way, I said Steelers, wild card Steelers are the eight seed. They’re out right now, by the way. Six and five. My apologies. And the Ravens are going to win that division. There you go. And nobody’s going to want to play the Ravens in the playoffs. Not at all. Uh Patriots over the Bengals 26-10. They keep on winning football games. Lions beat the Giants. We touched on that one. It went to overtime, but the Lions got the job done. Packers beat the Vikings 23-6. The Chiefs over the Colts. Here they come. Pete, the Kansas City Chiefs now are six and five. And again, they’re a team nobody wants in. Everybody want aside from the Jaguars, was anybody else rooting for the rooting for the Everybody was rooting for the Colts yesterday cuz they don’t want the Chiefs in. Nobody, man. What do you think, Austin, about this? No, I mean I was I I was cheering for the Colts as well cuz I thought maybe the Jaguars get flexed into a prime time game then when it’s Indie verse uh Jacksonville. That doesn’t happen now probably. Yeah, I mean listen, it makes no rhyme or reason. They can’t run the football to save their lives, but somehow Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid that they find a way and and it is what it is. You got to respect it. Austin, the Jaguars and Colts is never being flexed unless they were both undefeated. Nickelodeon, two small mark two small market teams. No way. I’m trying to watch some Slime Time or something. Okay, why not, man? Talking Come on, Pete. do do it for the kids. Pete, I’m just being realistic. I know I know the history of this league and I know how they’ve treated Jacksonville for years. They just don’t treat him with the respect and and so unless you’re dominant and really good, they’re not going to they’re not going to give you the prime time games or have somebody dating Taylor Swift. That helps. Correct. Uh Seahawks 30, Titans 24, the Browns over the Raiders. Shador Sanders, Pete, look, he was good at times and bad at times and he but he should be starting. Find out what you have in him and and he made look he made some off off schedule throws, made a long one down the field. Uh had another one to Judy, but he threw a terrible interception, too. It was good. It was bad. What you would expect from a rookie quarterback. I think he is starting next week, too. I think they made him a starter. Yeah, he’s the guy. He should start. He should be starting. See what he’s got. You know what? You have a Dylan Gabriel and he’s not the answer. So why not play him and see what you got? The Eagles blew a 21- nothing lead to the Dallas Cowboys 24-21. How about you have a 21-point lead. It’s 21 nothing and Barkley carried the ball 10 times in the game. 10. Something wrong with that. Man, are the Cowboys going to get it together? They won two straight since thereby, I wonder. Their schedule is brutal, though. I mean, starting Thursday with the big marquee game against the Chiefs. I mean, their schedule is brutal. Are we going to hear somebody doing that game? Yeah, I’ll be there. I’ll be there Thanksgiving in Dallas. That’s right. There you go. I’ll give you a little pub there, J. Tell everybody you’re one calling the game on Thanksgiving. Yeah, I’ll be there. 4:30 Eastern on many of these Westwood One stations. And and by the way, the ratings on CBS, my network, they’re going to go nuts. Huge. There you go. Huge. Uh I was going to say too, by the way, shout out to with the Eagles. Um, they lost the game, but AJ Brown had two touchdowns, so he’s back being happy again. So, expect expect that AJ Brown bump when you need it the most coming up. 21 nothing lead and you give Barkley 10 carries. That’s just bad offensive football. Two touchdowns though for AJ Brown, Pete. He’s he’s getting receptions. He’s happy. Falcons beat the Saints 24-10 and the Rams over the Buccaneers 34 to7. Baker might be out for a bit, Pete. Yeah, that’s bad because the good news for them is the schedule gets favorable because they’ve had a think about their games. They played New England at Buffalo at the Rams in three straight weeks. I mean, that’s brutal. And now and now you got a real the schedule gets really soft. So, they’ll still be a playoff team, but you got to have him in the lineup. It’s wild how we were talking about him as an MVP favorite, and that’s kind of fun for I think he got hurt a long time ago and kind of played through it. You shouldn’t have probably shouldn’t have played through it. Well, that that NFC South uh could be an interesting stretch run as well. Now, after that, certainly Monday Night Football, we head to the Bay Area. It’s a huge NFC showdown. Bryce Young and the Carolina Panthers at 6 and five have a chance to make a run for the NFC South. The San Francisco 49ers are third place in the NFC West, but currently the seven seed in the NFC playoff race at 7-4. Who you got tonight in Santa CL? I got the I got the NerS. Look, I I I think this Panthers team is so up and down. They were up last week. I think they’re down this week. I’ll take the Niners. Uh that that that ball that came popping across the screen. I thought that was a like a bat or something. So, if you will go back and watch the film, I was fre Yeah. Right there. I thought that was coming right for me. It’s the first time I’ve seen that. What are you talking because I’m always looking down. It’s the first I’ve actually looked at the screen. Yeah, man. He gives us a 3D every week that thing comes up. I haven’t seen it until now. I looked up for once. He’s wearing 3D glasses. I looked up for once. That’s what I get for it. From now on, I’m looking back at the script. But uh no, go ahead and give me the the NFC West. I have him second in my uh uh power rankings in terms of the the BCS and everything. How many first they right behind the AFC South. So go ahead and give me the the 49ers for sure. That’s great. Uh there you have it. The big I’m just stunned that you’re scared of the screen. cuz I’ve never looked up before and I see Well, you’re not a receiver either. I mean, you’re a defensive lineman, man. Come on. Hands down, hand in the dirt, right? That’s what That’s what it is, dude. That was Hey, uh, by the way, yeah. Hey, we’re we’re coming in hot. Thanksgiving is here. Let’s touch on the Thanksgiving games because we won’t have a show before then, of course. Packers at Lions. What do you guys think on that? Great game. Great game. That’s I mean, look, Packers played great on defense against the Vikings. You’re going to have to play great on defense in that one, too. I think the Packers will win the game. Wow. I think I’m taking the Lions. I think the Packers are still trying to find themselves right now. They they are great on defense. I think the Lions know what they are a little more on offense. They lose Sam with Porto. That’s going to be huge for the season, but go and give me Gibbs. Go and, you know, give me that explosive offense versus the back. Give me the Micah Parson spotlight. I love that. Yeah, love to see that. He’s a great player. Uh, Chiefs at Cowboys, as you said, Pete, I’ll be there. That’s um I’m I’m excited, man, because um Yeah, that’s awesome. By the way, if you’ve never Have you ever been to Dallas on Thanksgiving? It’s fantastic. They got one of the best They got one of the best spreads in the history of mankind on Thanksgiving, by the way. That’s what I heard. The game will be fine, too. But tell us about the meal. That’s what we’re going to do. Jerry, no expense for huh, JP. Next Monday night, you’ll be talking about that meal. I guarantee probably will. And uh each of these teams can kind of keep their run going here, the Chiefs and the Cowboys, if they get a win in this one, you know. So, we’ll see. See what happens. I mean, look, I think the Chiefs win. I I think the Chiefs are the better team. Yeah, the Chiefs as well. Bengals at Ravens. Oh, boy. Joe night game. Burrow’s back. Does that matter? No, it doesn’t matter. But the Ravens need to uh start showing more on offense. They they I mean Lamar Jackson’s not healthy and they just have not looked good on offense at all. I know. I think Kyle Hamilton came off that game too as well. I’m not sure if he’s going to be out for a period of time or not because they they need him, man. like he’s that that guy’s a Swiss Army knife and he’s really like their entire defense. So even though if he’s going to be in or out, it doesn’t matter. I I feel like the Ravens win that game. The scary thing is you’re playing a Joe Burrow offense that doesn’t have any pressure on it. 1. I agree with Austin 1000% to be a 4th seed you should have to be .500 1st, 2nd, 3rd. Should be solidified. After that the best records get into the playoffs..

  3. Hey Pete this is for you you are not taking into consideration your own words if the jaguars like you say when 11 games would you say is possible and with the colts playing a tougher schedule at the end we win the division I think you need to go over your math again see this is what people hate you talk out of both sides of your mouth or you just don't know what you're saying

  4. That’s garbage call on fourth down and not kicking that field goal is absolutely ridiculous. A.I. shouldn’t be making decisions for people you claim put their lives on the line every week. This league has turned from the NFL to the National Wi-Fi League. It’s crazy man

  5. Hey Pete aren't you the one that always says you are what your record is and if you're 7 and 4 well you're doing something right you may not like it you may not recognize it but they're doing something right

  6. If I told you we could trade Trevor for a young Brett Favre, woud you do it?

Compare Trevor to Brett Favre. Trevor has more yards, less turnovers, lower interception rate, and waaaayyyy more rushing yards.

He still needs to be better.
