The Dallas Mavericks ARE BAD but Cooper Flagg, Ryan Nembhard, & Others Are Building Something

On today’s show, the Dallas Mavericks are not good, but they do have some pieces to start building towards that going forward. We’ll talk about that in more today’s lock on math. This is Cooper Flag and you’re listening to locked on. Nick, that’s a good question. Good morning, Isaac. All these changes, you know, I still got my dog Dwight Pal. Joining me as always, my co-host, media member of the M 10 years right alongside with me, the Miami Heat homie, the one we’re thinking. What you got for me, Isaac Harris? Don’t ever associate me with the heat. I have an underrated underrated snack candy. Twin snakes. Twin snakes. Twin. Is it It’s a gummy. It’s a gummy. And it’s I thought you were just putting two gummy worms in your mouth every time you you No, it’s two snakes that are attached. If you’re not a YouTube listen or watcher, you’re missing out right now. But it it’s incredible. And one is sweet, one is sour. You eat both the snakes together. Great, great, underrated gummy. Just want to point that out there. It’s more important than anything about this game. We’ll talk about the Mavs lost to the Heat. The Mavs uh introduce a new player basically into the rotation in the second half. Jason Kid makes a fascinating decision that we’ll talk about. We’ll also talk about PJ Washington and his really great game, including the uh the final two shots that if they would have gone down, Mavs could have won this game. We’ll talk about Cooper flag, Max Christie, and more for the Dallas Mavericks. But let’s start here. The Mavs are just not good. Their offense is bad. We’ve gone over this many times. Breaking news. We’re just learning this tonight. This is my big takeaway that the Mavs are bad. This is just a bad team right now. And we’re not getting anybody back from injury anytime soon. Even though Anthony Davis was doubtful before this game and then they ended up scratching him, I was very s very shocked by that that he didn’t end up playing in this game. The Mavs though, they do have some pieces. Like you start to see this defense is pretty for real. This Miami Heat team, yes, they were missing Andrew Wiggins, they’re missing Nor Pal, but they got they got Tyler Herro back. This Heat team had been one of the best offenses in the NBA. They had to put up the most points in in the NBA this season per game. And the Mavs held them to 106 points, 18% from three. Like that. I don’t think that’s just missing a bunch of threes. Uh the Mavs couldn’t score themselves until they made the decision with with Ryan Nemhard that we’ll get to. But I’m we’re starting to see that this Mavericks team has like they have some pieces of a team that is going to be good. And when they go into next season, I think they’ll take some of those pieces and then they’ll be good. Then they’ll be good then when they get Kyrie back and whatever they get for the Anthony Davis trade, whoever they get in the 2026, you know, draft. Like that’s the takeaway I’m taking from this is like, man, they’re like they’re so close in so many of these games. Another clutch game the Mavs lose. Yes. another clutch game. Uh they lose. Um well, I’ll just I’ll just start with Max. I think to to your point that there you see some of these guys and it made me think about conversations we used to have years ago of like man Dorian Finny Smith if he wasn’t asked be to to do as much as he is right now, if he was in this like defined like role player uh role, then he would be a great role player type of guy. And it’s like they h they have some of these pieces. It’s just so unfortunate that they don’t have the the upper guys yet, the the the one and two guys. And you know, you look at a guy like Max, and I think Max Christie is having an incredible season. This team obviously sucks. the record sucks. But if you’re looking at some of these uh these pieces that fit around a Cooper flag moving forward, uh you look at a guy like Max who’s literally one of, if not the best corner three-point shooter uh in the in the entire NBA tonight, he goes three for five from from three again, shooting 60% tonight. Um I mean, he is just lighting it up. everything you want to ask of of Max Christie as far as a 3 and D guy. Uh he’s hitting the three. Now, I I do want to offer a correction real quick the other day. I was talking about um Max Christie with uh his future with Dallas and I since corrected Bobby Markx corrected it and uh Bobby and I was kidding Bobby Carella at DLS about it. How many B you got over there? I know uh Bobby K and me myself, we both got it wrong. I said the other day that the Mavericks might entertain trading Max Christie at some point over the over the next year because his extension for Dallas could only go at and I said the other day the previous role was 120% at the like for his next contract and that would put around that like 1314 number and the way his contract set up is he wouldn’t be restricted like he’s going to go into unrestricted free agency if he doesn’t take the max offer from Dallas which would have been that 120% %. Well, in this new CBA, it’s 140%. And that’s what I got wrong in that, which ups his annual salary of what Dallas could be able to offer him an extension up to like that 17 $18 million range, which I think is where Max probably is. Uh maybe 20, it would end somewhere in the low 20s in that extension. So, I think it makes it way more likely that he would accept a deal like that to stay in Dallas, and you you don’t want to entertain trades at that point. Um, so anyway, I I wanted to correct myself because I was wrong on that that percentage because Max is 22 and he’s the type of guys that you want around Cooper Flag and I want him around here long term. I I love watching Max Christie play basketball this year. Absolutely. And I think he’s one of the pieces I’ve been very careful on this and said that like I I don’t think that they should look to trade him. They should this they should be building this next core on Cooper Flag, Max Christie, Derek Lively, anything and anything else that they can get. Cooper Flag is obviously part of that core. And part of the the thing that you said earlier is like in previous versions of the Mavericks, we’d go, man, it’d be awesome. They have all these great role players. It’ be great if they could have that number one. The number one was not on the roster at that point when we were talking about because this was before Luca and all that when we were talking about the Mavs. And now the no the one is on the roster. It’s Cooper Flag, right? Like he just has to grow into that. And I think we’re seeing some of the things that he that he’s struggling with right now and how he’s going to take his path to grow to being that number one player. 12 points, seven boards, three assists, two steals, three turnovers, missed all four of his threes, was five of 14 from the field, only two free throws in the 34 minutes he played. I’m I’m watching Cooper Flag and like he seemed it seems like he needs to be more aggressive. You can kind of tell in the moment he knows he needs to be more aggressive. And then you also see from Cooper Flag in the final five minutes, he like comes alive again. and makes good defensive plays and gets to like gets to the gets to the line and scores again scores again on a drive and you’re just going man if only he played the whole game like it was the final five minutes of the game like this could be an all-star this season. He in the fourth quarter especially, he made so many defensive plays that he just amazes me on the defensive side of the ball. And it’s not the, you know, it’s not the sexy part of the game to watch and uh you’re not clipping all the little small defensive stuff that Cooper’s doing on the floor, but that’s the the impact he has on the defensive side is just unbelievable. And especially in those like last five minutes in a clutch, it’s not just about some of these clutch baskets, which I think he’s in he’s getting close to like 40 clutch points right now. Um he was at 38. I think they said 38. So, you know, he has 38 clutch points. We we know that he can score in the clutch, but he’s also doing some stuff defensively in the clutch that is just unbelievable. Some of those steals and getting the ball like he’s just all over the place. He makes plays. He is a winning type of player. Yes. Did I want him to be more aggressive at the end and take that shot instead of passing it to PJ and PJ taking probably a shot he shouldn’t have taken contested three uh there? Yes, of course. I wanted Cooper to be more aggressive there. And that stuff that I think will just come over time, right? Like he’s going to get more comfortable with that. He’s going to be more confident in that and and go and take that. So, you know, the past few games have not been the best of games for Cooper. Um I wrote down at one point I should not ask myself if Cooper’s on the floor. Yeah. Because he kind of f right now the past like two games there’s been times where he’s just getting cardio in and he’s just too good of a player to just be getting cardio in. Like you got to we got to know oh Cooper’s on the floor right now because he’s making it you know taking advantage of it offensively and and all of that. the Mavs don’t have nearly enough options for him to be like not a factor on the floor. I also think he’s I think he’s at 40 clutch points because he’s at 36 before tonight. He had the he had the two free throws and he had the drive and the finish and uh yeah, so I think he’s I think he’s at 40 now and that that would put him I don’t know what James Harden did tonight, but that would put him top four in clutch points total this this season which is wild. It’s SGA Maxi Kate Cunningham has 40 and Cooper Flag. So it’s tied for third actually in the NBA. It’s just wild. So you look at him, what he’s doing defensively, what he’s doing in the clutch. You look at Max Christie and then you look at a guy like PJ I think is part of that could be part of that core going forward because he’s still young enough to have some years here with the Mavericks. And then you look at Ryan Nemhard and Ryan Nemhard I think has has a little something that the Mavs could use this season. We’ll talk about if they could use in the rest of of of this year coming up next. [Music] Today’s episode of Locked on Mabs brought to you by Robin Hood. So, we talked about Cooper Flag, talked about Max Christie a little bit. And Ryan Nhard is kind of like one of the bigger stories of this game to me because he didn’t play at all in the first half and he’s been out with this knee sprain for a while. The Mavs have not had him available. I’ve been kind of asking where is where is Ryan Demard? Where you know the Mavericks could use a guard, they could use somebody and so he uh and so Jason Kidd puts him in in the second half and he plays 17 minutes in that second half. Die Russell plays zero minutes in the second half. Jayen Hardy doesn’t play in the second half and even Brandon Williams didn’t play that much in the second half. Ryan Nhard was even closing the game. Brandon Williams played six minutes in the second half. And so Jason K just went all Ryan Nehard decided this is what we need. the Heat were going zone on the Mavericks a lot and so they needed somebody to break that zone with some passing and things like that. And I thought what Nanard introduced to this Mavs offense was incredible. A player that can dribble and pass and do those things at the same time. Like he got seven assists in this game. Uh was a plus nine. Was one of seven from the field, but he’s just getting introduced into this game. But I thought what he brought is just like was like a breath of fresh air. I mean, honestly, it’s it’s the concept of like what he brings as a player that we’ve just been like dying for. It’s like we’re just stuck in the desert just like looking for water. It’s like playmaking. Someone kick dribble, please. We’re like Spongebob water. And and and that that’s the thing. It’s like it’s kind of like when they used to have Josh Green and they they were so desperate for energy and they had athletes. They were just like Yeah. like Josh Green got on the floor like whoa like look at that athleticism and that’s how it felt like Nimhard watching Nimhard tonight and you know you tweeted out about like uh you know not caring about his defense you’re like I don’t care about his defense now I don’t think they should care either because they’re not winning games and it doesn’t matter like just please just put out some um enjoyable product on offense and you just saw how much things opened up at times when uh you know kid just rolled with him there in the fourth and he’s been he he’s had like a knee thing. He’s been like um unavailable in these games and stuff, but then bam, he was available in this game and then getting a lot of run there in the fourth and I want to see more of him. Like let him let him go out there and run some offense some of his passes. The the oop that Coupe misses missed. Oh my gosh, how fun was that? I mean that it looked a little Luca-ish that oop uh that that Nimart threw the catch. Oh, the P. Oh, the pass. Sorry. A little too high up there for Luca on the catch. Uh but no, just that I mean it was just he he knows obviously he’s played point guard forever. Another Mont Verde guy. Um and just has set up these, you know, these superstar type of players for so long. And um yeah, man, he was just a lot of fun out there. Got a lot of people involved, a lot of open shots. He’s so quick. Um he was even being aggressive with his shot a little bit, too. His outside shot is is kind of rough, but just just let him go out there and just set things up. That’s all I’m asking right now. They just need a passer. Like the Mavs just need oil to this offense just so so badly. And D’Angel Russell’s obviously not bringing that. Brandon Williams is doing that with his drives. like he had some pretty good the quick first step drives and finishes today. He had he hit a three and had two other buckets that I thought were good, but you know, seven seven points didn’t have any assist. I mean I mean a lot but but the M the Mavs just don’t have like these are not good options we’re talking through. But but that’s the thing. It’s like it’s this is common sense obviously, but like you just got to have somebody that can break down the defense to get into the paint. like somebody that can go one-on-one with their defender, touch the paint, draw another defender, and you’re kicking it out immediately. And they they’re really the only two guys that have the speed to do it. And I mean, Nimhard’s a two-way guy. So it just shows you the roster construction was just such a I mean it was so flawed of how they uh how they how Nico built this thing and just so you know undervalued under underestimated having guys on the floor that can dribble and playmake. The margins for error for this team were so big you know like or so I guess so small if you put it that way. They’re so small for this team to actually be good. like all the scenarios we talked about in the offseason like man okay this team could be good if this like it depended on Anthony Davis being healthy he’s missed now 14 games this season it depended on what’s crazy is they’ve been pretty dang good defensively and AD’s not even playing right well they needed Anthony Davis offense more than they’ve needed his defense really which is which is weird but there’s just so many little things Daniel Russell had to be playable and good for the Mavs to to also be good and that that has not bared itself out so far this season except for some some games he’s been been pretty good. And this game was just another one where Jason Kid goes, you know what? I think we can get something better with this two-way guy and they put they put Nemhard in. It’s kind of like what you need. It’s like DLO gives you some, you know, spark plug offense sometimes. Um, and and the better score of the three, but sometimes you need a guy out there that can break down the defense and just get get people open shots. like even at the end of the game there uh where not the contested three that PJ took the one before that that he missed in the corner. Um I think Clay probably should have took taken that three before he passed it to to PJ there. But the these are open threes that are getting created and as much as we can create open shots, let’s do that because I can’t watch one of I can’t watch one of those first quarters again. I mean, I would I I was trying to think of things I would rather watch than I think I would rather watch like old reruns of the shop of on HBO with with LeBron talking talking about whatever than watch that offense in the first quarter. Would you watch Thor: The Dark World again instead of that? I think I would watch Aquaman again. And I think Aquaman’s one of the worst like superhero movies of all time. It is so so bad. I would watch that three times in a row before if you told me, “Hey, you don’t you don’t you don’t have to see this Mavs like first quarter offense that we saw.” PJ hit a three at the buzzer to make it 19 to 20. It the Mavs would have scored 16 points in that quarter with if PJ doesn’t hit that three. I’ve just stopped I’ve stopped tracking the quarters they hit 30 because it’s going to be a really sad number by the end of the year. What? There was one tonight. Second. No, I mean like for the whole season. The fourth quarter they did. They did tonight. Yeah, they hit 30. Exactly. It’s just it’s it’s getting Yeah, it’s it’s pretty tough. This that is a really bad really bad offense. And uh got to point again to Nico’s roster building and um his ways of thinking with uh waiting basketball going into this game. I don’t know what they they’ll be after tonight. Going into this game, the Mavericks are um they were third in defensive rating. Yeah. In the NBA, um what’s their record again? They were five and 12. So, defense wins. Defense wins you those championships, though. I mean, but you got to get there first. No, I I’m just I’m trying to say it’s like, dude, you’re one of the best defensive teams in a league and you only have five wins. Like, can’t even win can’t even win games. It’s It’s not everything. Absolutely. Absolutely. Are you ready for my ready for my playoff stat? I was disappointed you didn’t give it to me the other night in person. 106 teams have have started five and 14 or worse. Five and 14 or since 2000. 6 teams. You ready for how many have made the playoffs? Oh, I’m so ready. Six. Oh, that’s 4.7%. Yeah, but tell me when that number’s down to 1.8%. Six. Hey, once it does, then we’ll know. Hey, that’s the that’s the Doctor Strange the one the one the one chance. Um, coming up the end of this game. So many things to like just walk through. Let’s just walk through some of the plays at the end of this game cuz decisions were made, things happened, and uh man, so many different ways this this game could have gone. We’ll get into that in more. [Music] Today’s episode of Locked Time Apps brought to you by Game Time. It’s just like the Mavs whole season is one of the worst offensive games of the year and the Mavs nearly come away with it to get the win. Just like what a weird season this has been so far for this team. Yeah, weird is a way to describe it. Why was Spo so mad tonight? I felt like he was pissed that the entire game. He was real mad about stuff. He was real mad about uh what was the one that I I wrote down in my notes? My my my copious notes that I took for this game. Can you tell me when Hawkeye checked out every time? Fourth quarter. Hime Hawkey checked out. Um fourth quarter the PJ verticality play where he had that block on the way down like he went right up on Drew Smith blocked it on the way down then he got the alley from Max Christy in transition. Spo was furious on that. He was like out in the out in the half court and he was so mad. And I was like, that was when Drew Smith kind of broke Nim Hard. Yeah. But also the the PJ play was awesome. That was that was an like that gave me so much life right there. That was volleyball spike on that. Um spo’s like, “Y’all better not lose to this team.” All right. He’s so pissed. Uh speaking about people that are pissed. Clay is just unhinged right now. All right. Yeah. Clay. Clay is just just out off the charts. All right. I don’t know who he pointed to. They said it was Wiggins on the broadcast, but I think Wiggins was kind of just like smirking. I want to say it was the fan behind him. I don’t know. He gets this tech. He point He points at the bench after he makes a three with 845 left in the third quarter. He gets a technical on by pointing to somebody on points either somebody on the bench. Yeah, the broadcast thought it was Wiggins, which Wiggins used to be a teammate of Clays, but just pointing and saying something to the bench does not seem like it should be a technical thing. They they should tell us what he said. I don’t understand. Yeah. I don’t understand some of the what’s allowed and what’s not towards benches because there’s so much stuff that’s said to those corner three guys on the bench and players turn around and say stuff to them all the time. I mean, it feels like players do the machine gun celebration half the time. But Clay Bridges used to just like unload the clip at the bench every time he hit a three. Yeah. He has like an Uzi and Clay can’t even like point at somebody and I was like I thought it was a weak a weak tech but I don’t know but but Clay’s just feeling it right now. Like I don’t I don’t give a crap right now. It made me realize how few techs the Mavs have actually had this season though. Like how many texts have the Mavs had? There’s been like like I think Naji’s had like two. I think PJ has one. I mean Clay has Clay has how many of them? A couple. Towards the end of this game, there are some wild plays. And so, uh, Flag with a minute a minute left, drives right at Kell Wear gets the scoop foul, hits both free throws. I think it’s just notable that he’s just so clutch. Hit both those free throws to to tie the game at 102. I mean, he his clutch play has just been awesome. He also had the play at 246 against the two-3 zone where he catches the ball at the nail layup and gets almost like he almost misses the pass. Nehard hits him right right in the middle of the the zone and he misses the pass almost and then he grabs it, turns around, gets to the rim like just the clutch plays from him are amazing. Oh yeah. I mean he’s getting the nickname right now. So about his playing the clutch and I saw I saw one of my favorite people to follow Van Lean and he tweeted out as soon as the game ended. He’s like Cooper didn’t want to take that shot at the end of the game. I was like, “Nah, I don’t know. I don’t I He should have taken it, but I don’t I don’t think it I think he’s just trying to make the basketball play.” I have zero parts of me that thinks that Cooper’s like scared of a moment. He doesn’t I honestly think it’s his thumb thing. We haven’t talked a lot about his thumb. He’s been on the injury report every single game for the last like what, five or six games with his thumb sprain. He still has that like bandage that like that split on it or whatever. Yeah, I don’t think he wants to go right because he’s been finishing left. Even that that layup that I just talked about was on the left side. Feels like he’s been finishing left more, going left more. And we keep saying, man, he’s really wants to finish with his left. I don’t know if he wants to go right right now with that. I think it’s also affecting his three-point shot. What is he? Four of 20 in his last six games or something like that from three. 420. Yeah. And I think that that thumb injury may be bothering him more than than we’ve like even acknowledged because it can’t be comfortable. It’s in his It’s on his right hand, his shooting hand. Yeah. Yeah. I don’t know. Um, honestly don’t know how bad the the thumb thing is. Um, I mean, I we’ve talked about it multiple times. At some point, they’re going to probably work on some of the form and consistency of his shot and um, that will happen over the next year or so, but I’m not Yeah, Cooper’s the rookie of the year and like it’s Yeah, he just impacts the game. You got to watch Cooper play ball like play ball to understand his it’s he’s not just a counting stat guy which we said this before the season even started. It’s Cooper’s not a 37 point, you know, game guy and you’re see he’s leading the league and scoring and all this stuff. He is going to impact both ends of the floor. And I just found myself shaking my head sometime. I’m like, dude, he got his hand on the ball again. Cooper’s the one who like got the got got that steal or knocked it out and somebody else got it and took off running. Like he just I don’t I’m like how are you impacting all the all the plays out there? But he’s he’s a lot of fun. PJ the inbounds pass with 40 seconds left right to Bamabio. O I don’t understand that one at all from what PJ was thinking because I get Nim Hard was in the corner but Nim Hard is also 4 foot8 and he he was trying to throw like the ball like over Gaffford and Bam and I’m like all right even if it did get past Bam it’s hitting somebody in the like audience so you would need to like throw it straight up and straight back down like just needed Yeah. I don’t know what he was. I don’t know what that was, but that was a tough one. And then the uh Yeah, that that was a very weird play. Max had to step out of bounds on the sidelines with 137 left. That was a that was that was a tough mistake, too. There’s just it’s just young team like and team that I don’t know. It doesn’t doesn’t have the one star like we’ve been saying over and over again that can can kind of put everything all together and put them in place. Yeah. I always get mad when a ref calls that because I’m like I know it’s part of their job and they train it. They’re trained to look at that but I’m like dang if I was a ref I would not be looking down at his back heel as the play’s like going on. I’m like I guess you seen it. Does this happen more often than not or is this you’re just like hey you got close. I don’t but sure go for it. Like is that give him does it give Christie that much of an advantage if he you know it does that his foot was like a half inch out out of the out of bounds he got to put his foot that much farther back. Yeah. Is do you take anything from the Mavs being in this many clutch games? They’ve played the most clutch games in the NBA. I mean, I I just I think it shows you that they have some pieces that are they’re not like the Nets to where like the Nets could probably like if you ask them, “Hey, would you swap out your whole entire roster for like a new deck of cards?” They might do it and because like they just But Dallas isn’t that. I don’t want to sit here and say, “Hey, Dallas just isn’t far.” Like they’re so close to whatever it need to fix. But going full circle to our conversation at the beginning, they have some really good guys on their team. Like so good pieces for a good basketball team, it’s just those top guys on the roster you just got to have. And I think that’s that’s what’s telling about it is there’s so many clutch games. They’re losing so many of these clutch games. They’re in a lot of these games. At least these are fun. Like they’re going to lose more games this year and probably be have one of the like worst records. Not like the worst, but a bottom 10 record in the league, but I think it’s still gonna be like a lot of fun basketball like we had tonight. Yeah, hopefully get more fourth quarters like that because the rest of this game was not exactly that fun, but the fourth and fourth quarter was. Hopefully, you know, Roier didn’t bet on the Mavs. Mavs have 10 clutch losses. The next the team with the the next most clutch losses is or how how many does they do they have? Because four teams have this many. Oh, they have six. Six is the next is the next really have four more clutch losses than anybody else in the NBA. Some teams haven’t even played like the Hornets have played five clutch games. The Nuggets have played five clutch games. Timber’s played five clutch games. The MS have four more clutch losses than anybody else in the NBA. Yeah, that’s why not to like Yeah, not to burst the bubble in these games. They just can’t close them. Not to burst the bubble for people who like are like really using this stat a lot. That’s why I don’t really care about I care. I don’t put a lot of weight into like total clutch points of like Cooper’s got this amount of total clutch points because it’s like, okay, give me like the average. Give me some percentages in clutch. Like I like those type of things, but because you know Steph is probably what the most clutch player right now you’d say and you know just because a Mo Williams has more clutch points than than Steph then doesn’t mean I’d take him into clutch. But did Mo Williams and Steph play at the same time? That would be I think so. It I just think that he keeps racking up clutch points. Yes, he’s played a ton. I just think it’s impressive that he’s getting it done at all in the clutch and score and honestly scoring more points in the clutch than he does in mundane moments of the game and getting to the basket. That’s what he was doing a little bit there and that or that one bucket he got in a clutch is and the and the the free throws where he got fouled. Yeah, it’s like he’s getting into the lane. He’s not these clutch um these clutch points isn’t coming off. Feels like anytime you say this it feels like someone’s going to be like, “Are you taking a shot, Luca?” It’s not that at all cuz I was say it’s not like he’s settling like for like step back shots, you know, 30 ft from the rim. U he’s getting to the basket. He’s using his body is um he’s already like driving. He should have drove. He should have drove. That’s the only thing I can now. It’s like he should have shot it. He should have shot it. Um but no, you everything’s the same. It’s just different. I’m just I’m so impressed with him. And uh shout out to Ted filling in for Fallwell tonight. Ted I mean act like he was calling World Cup final. And I the energy him and Devin Devin’s done a really good job this year too. Like I thought I thought Devon’s been awesome this year. This is the problem though with with us hyping up Fowlwell so much that now the world knows and now Fall is getting these national games and now we’re going to have less follow- on Mavs broadcast and as much as I love Fowlwell, friend of the show, I just need him on Mavs game. Get away from him. Yeah, leave leave him be. He’s fine. Leave him on Mavs games. Unless it’s soccer. I think he likes that more than Well, it’s off then. He can do offseason then he could he’s done college football and stuff before too. But yeah, let him let him leave him for the Mavs. Uh, real quick, one more thing for the Heat. Um, man, Khlo Wear is really good. He played a really good game tonight. Yeah, I I love this game. I mean, he hit three threes also. Um, 20 and 18 in this game. He’s a monster. Um, just watching him makes, you know, me think when we were having the the the AD Miami thing of like, oh, I wonder if Miami would be interested in AD and stuff. They’re not they’re not putting Killoware in a deal like that. So, shout out to Miami who is the No, shout out to Miami who’s the third best defense in the NBA on on cleaning the glass, the 11th best offense, and they’re just now added Tyler Hero, who’s an all-star last year. That team is I suppose such a good coach, man. Incredible. Like, wow. That is that is going to be a team to watch. So, uh, Odd Moon locked on NBA tonight. So, go listen to that after this, guys. 1. Cooper the "poop" Clogged is being excessively hyped by the media and mavericks announcers. They're overreacting to simple layups and dunks he made, treating him as if he's an MVP-caliber and generational talent 🤣🤣🤣. Stupid 💩💩💩

  2. Flag in 95% will not be Luka , maybe top 30-40 player could be his ceiling. I would be careful about throwing everything building around him.

  3. A lot of comments are saying that the Mavs are not involving/developing Flagg. Look at it from the other players’ perspectives. They’re trying to prove that they’re good enough to get future contracts from the Mavs/other teams. It’s not their job to babysit and get Flagg associated with playing in the NBA. Flagg has to do that himself.

  4. You guys are starting to see Cooper's value. It's the denial of a pass, a steal, a deflection on defense and on offense he almost always just makes the right play. You have to watch every day to appreciate him. And in case you forgot, he's only 18 years old. Newport basketball FTW!

  5. Can we just be patient. 2nd in defensive rating in the league. Yes we’re almost last, but we’re clearly losing most of our games in clutch time. Like seriously! Not only will AD make our defense even better but he’ll be there to help us win in the clutch c’mon guys. 3points, 4 pts,6pts. A fit DLive and AD can reduce the deficit and help with clutch plays 😢

  6. Hmm… the two best players on the team, which are basically guaranteed to average 50+ PPG between them, are out, and you seriously have the audacity to talk about the team not winning in spite of their defensive metrics. You, sir, are an idiot. 🤡

  7. Lively needs to play more to get the rust off of him and lift some weights
Nembhard has learned from his siblings which is a great thing
Our players have been hurt early in the start of the season which sucks ass
Flagg is gonna be the bomb in Dallas
AD needs to just retire already

  8. While you may be enthusiastic about Cooper Flagg, he is nothing but resembles Emeka Okafor 2.0 course of career. Kon Knueppel is the real deal, and passing on him will be a significant oversight. Dum dum!

  9. What's more likely? Coop becoming a first option or him more or less being a better version of what he is now? His game reminds me of Siakam. Is that his ceiling? We will never win a championship with that archetype as our best player. Man I miss Luka. He was transcendent. Coop will not be that despite him showing perennial all star upside. It's really sad. We shouldn't even be here.

  10. Ngl I'm not sure if going all in on Coop is definitely the right move. He's clearly underperforming given what our expectations are. We know how many no.1 picks have gone complete bust, it's not unlikely. I just want us to really think this through. We have AD and Kyrie right now, let's not just get rid of them to build around Coop for now. Why not let AD come back and ball out a bit. See what Coop does while AD increases his value. If we have more securities regarding Coop, then start the building process. But all these hysterical takes that we need to get rid of AD now so that we can tank and get a good pick, which is more likely to be a bust than a star, are not helping.

  11. They are not running plays through Coop. It’s like it’s designed for him to defer to other players 🤦🏾‍♂️ Bc they once plays are ran through him out offense begins to generate points!! They’re literally icing him out and it pisses me off. He’s 18 and can give you 24 on any given night. But they won’t allow him 20 shots a night. No way he should only be getting 10-13 shots up a night. We’re tanking plain and simple, bc of our lack in draft capital. They are showing we blow that trade dumbass trade. Coop will great in the league in 2-3yrs.

  12. I do not see what everyone else sees in nembhard. He cost us at least 3 easy shots last night. Coop blew by his defender with a open no pass. Gaff had a guard on him no pass. Then there was a open look he refused to pass and jacked up a terrible shot

  13. Cooper Flagg is not generational. Folks, this is two games back to back where he had 2 points or so in the first half. Kon Knueppel is the rookie of the year right now, but we do have a long way to go. I put Cooper as the 5th or 6th best rookie right now.

  14. Anthony Davis is going to be very difficult to move — especially when he isn't playing. Really, the best tradeable asset is Kyrie. Kyrie is making 18 million less than Davis. You might still be able to get 2 good players and 1 or 2 first round picks for Irving.

  15. Honestly this team is frustrating and bad for my mental health and high blood pressure so frustrating watching Jkidd get out coached nightly and watching 18 year old cooper Flagg be so timid and passive for big parts of these games like he’s terrified to shoot the ball sometimes but then I have to remind myself that he’s only 18 year old rookie and Kidd needs to be like Dirk and practice shooting religiously

  16. It's great that Max is an efficient shooter but he's going to need to work on some parts of his game before he's a core piece. What about improving that handle so you could get around your defender and not always get stripped of the ball? How about developing a go to 2-point shot so that when you do dribble across the key you are looking for your shot first instead of always passing?
