Zach Sieler and Patrick Paul meet with the media | Miami Dolphins
you guys are back together. I’m not that weren’t working before before now you guys are back. No, it’s great. Um, obviously the byee is a uh it’s a great time for guys to kind of get out for a second and uh recoup and reset their mind. Um, obviously we always tell guys like we told the young guys this year like, “Hey, look, don’t just fully just disappear, do something, John, whether it’s focus on your diet or get an extra workout in or whatever.” Um so and they did that and today was a great day out there on the field um to be able to get our feedback and kind of keep working and work through some things and uh focus in on some things you typically don’t get to focus on in season. Um obviously we’re still in season but like taking today where it’s kind of a bonus day is what I mean. Um so to have that bonus day to work through with these guys and really kind of I guess uh make sure everyone’s right hit the ground running. Um, so we able to get ahead on New Orleans uh Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, keep rolling and uh really like we like you said like keep this thing going. It’s all about stacking wins. Let’s talk about that momentum, you know, from the two games prior to coming off the be. Yeah, it’s it’s but it’s it’s doing that. But I mean, the biggest thing we always say is control what we control. Pass the past, learn from it. I mean, even though we won, there’s lots to clean up and do it better next week. If you keep doing that, hopefully it leads the right direction. very warm and close for a lot of weeks. How much have you seen from them? What have you seen from them? Yeah, those guys done great. Um they stepped up big time. Um it was awesome. Obviously Cole showing up when was it early early in camp or not camp in season. Uh to hit the ground running like he did. It was a testament to him. Um same with Larry throughout camp working getting the offense right and understanding the timing and everything with our offense. Um has been great. Those guys stepped in and I think they’ve done a great job this year. How have you seen the tackles improve over the last couple weeks? And then just what’s the limit for this team, you know, as they continue to grow as players? So, those guys have really done a great job of focusing in on every week and how to get better. Um, obviously for a rookie, there’s so much to get better at. Um, it’s like drinking through a fire hose, right? So, it’s what they’ve done this great job of is taking each little key they can and just focus on one or two things, one or two things and just keep stacking weeks, stacking days, and they just exponentially grow this year. Um, being able to talk high level ball and talk with these kids this year has been awesome to see them grow. Um, I’m really excited for the future with these guys. I was going to ask you where specifically the most. Oh, KG’s done a great job. I mean, that all he wants to do is work. Um, he’s he puts his head down, he works. Um he has that same passion. You’re starting to that fire and that joy out there on the field making some plays like that fourth and uh third and one fourth and one in Washington at or Madrid against Washington uh has been awesome. Um so see him kind of understanding that football and how to take that shot and how to do things like that has been awesome. Um and it’s been great to play with him and I’m excited to keep playing with him in the future. What was your overall experience out there going international? It was awesome. Yeah, they did a great job over there. I think Madrid uh super super cool city. Um the people were all great over there. Um great great culture kind of seeing all that and I think the team we did a great job of how we traveled. Um a lot of the guys were very professional. They were focusing in honing in just like they would if we here at home and I think that led to the victory on Sunday. You eat anything interesting that you what’s it called? That big rice dish. That’s it. Yeah, that seafood paella. It was pretty good. Yeah. Speaking of that momentum, you know, coming up with two straight wins. Did the buy come at a bad time or it’s never a bad time to rest and rejuvenate? It’s never a bad time to rest and rejuvenate and I think it gives you some perspective. Let’s say you go home and see your family. You know, it’s more motivation. It’s your why and that’s really important in the sport is to know why you’re doing it. So, I think it’s been good for everyone. Patrick, how did you pick your charity for the my uh I really think mental uh mental health is really big. Um, especially in today’s age, it’s hard for men to talk about their feelings and how they’re, you know, how they’re just doing in general. I think it’s something that’s always been a big thing is like, okay, you’re a man, get over it. That’s it. You don’t have no feelings. So, mine is really just bringing more awareness to that and yeah, just men’s mental health. I think it’s really important. Austin, um, with AJ back in the fold, uh, it gives us some it gives us a spark. Uh he’s definitely a very loud and great leader for us. Uh someone who’s very impactful in the game and then he’s just a great person to have on the field with. So yeah, yeah, I’ll start with Larry. Larry has been lights out for us. Uh he’s been a absolute staple there while uh filling in for AJ and um yeah, he’s been doing a great job. Um, and Cole Strange, he came here, he’s been here for two months, and he fit right in. It was like he’s been here for two years, how it felt. So, he’s come in, he’s got adapted to our culture, the way we do things, and he’s looking good out there. So, yeah. Who’s a happier football player, you or Ollie? Every time we talk, you guys always have a smile on your face. I mean, Jesus. I’d say Ollie. Ali’s just I don’t know what it is. Maybe it’s hyperness. I don’t know if happy, yes, but more hyper. Um, so I’d say him, but we both love it. You guys also have to flip that switch though. I mean, you guys go from these nice, gentle guys. Get on that field, that dog has to come out. Oh, yeah. It’s all about balance. I can’t show you it all now, but yeah, you know, you got to be able to turn it off and get in that mode, get in that state uh when you’re out there playing. But yeah, definitely flip. Speaking of balance, what’s the key to balancing? Uh, definitely. I think it’s just staying with your routine. I mean, we’re not practicing, so making sure you’re getting out uh running, staying active, getting the sweat in every single day, keeping your muscles loose, keeping the body loose, stretching a lot, and then just getting that heat exposure. So, just being outside, you know, so I’d say that. Mike was talking earlier today about grunt skill. Yeah. Starting at six different positions in the NFL. Yeah. Put yourself in those shoes. What would it be like to start at six different positions? It would be tough. Um, Dan is very smart and he’s a very intelligent guy who can play, like you said, all six positions. So, hats off to him. I don’t know how he does it, but he’s a he’s a beast for sure. Yeah. What nonoffensive line position would you most like to play? Nonoffensive line position. Defensive end. Be the one on the other side. Facts. See how it feels. But yeah, I appreciate y’all.
