What would you be willing to trade for Quinn Hughes?

Not saying he’s Pronger but could be what we need to make a run
Would take something like Mintyukov, McQueen and a 1st
It’s hard to quantify that kind of trade but it would have to be a lot. If it includes an extension it might start with Lacombe + two firsts + a high end prospect?
I’m also not sure Vancouver would be willing to trade him in-division
Isn’t he wanting to play in NJ? I wouldn’t waste assets on someone who will eventually want to play with his brothers. Understandable from his view.
He is UFA in 2027 and has been vocal about wanting to play with his brothers at some point. Without knowing he is going to stay, I wouldnt give up any sort of legitimate assets. Whomever gets him is going to overpay now when he will be on the market after next season, and it is likely that he doesnt stay where he is traded (unless it is Jersey).
Lacombe will be our 1D moving forward. Unless we are 100% sure Quinn Hughes would want to stay at Anaheim for long term, then we could trade Lacombe for Hughes. Otherwise there is no point to give up assets for a 2 year rental.
I’m so excited to hear the “13th forward and a first” takes.
It’s Quinn Hughes. I think there’s a lot of question marks about his UFA contract, but it’s still Quinn Hughes.
Mintyukov, McTavish, and a first is going to be the price. I kind of think that McTavish might be eventually pushed out in favor of McQueen because he’s Verbeek’s wet dream, and Vancouver is going to have to really be pushed to move their captain and perennial Norris contender. I’m also pretty sure that Vancouver is not so silently shopping Pettersson, which would leave a pretty massive hole up the middle.
With that said, I really like the direction that this team is headed, and I think adding Hughes, while it makes us better now, could potentially be devastating in a few years. My opinion: stay the course.
It would have to be a trade and sign so if we are looking at next year since that will be 1 year left then I say we move minty and maybe colangelo and a pair of 1st round picks. Something along those lines.
Nothing until he’s able to be extended prior to the trade.
I think you’d have to give up Zellweger plus a few firsts to get him
Certainly Ducks have the assets to make the trade, and it would come to if Hughes wants to play in Anaheim. Not gonna speculate who gets moved, cause it really could be anyone outside of Leo Carlsson and Lukas Dostal.
There’s another problem with next seasons cap, its already going to be tight without any movements. Trouba couldn’t be resigned either, unless Verbeek would get to unload some of the big contracts we have like Strome and Vatrano. Because of the tight cap next season, I don’t know if the Ducks really have the ideal timing to make the trade currently.
Might be a good thing though, those Hughes’ boys are made of glass. And potentially paying a guy 13-15mil a season just to sit 20-30 games in IR isn’t ideal. Then again the guy is a absolute stud when on the ice, and would be our best defenseman since Scott Niedermayer and Pronger, by a lot.
Vancouver GM made it clear that Hughes isnt available. And if he was, why would Hughes want to come to a team that hasnt even made the playoffs?
You’d also would have to be ready to commit huge $ when you already said Lacombe is basically the team’s #1.
Realistically, you’d trade McQueen or Sennecke, Minty or Zell or Luneau, a first round pick plus another prospect.
Considering Vancouver is collecting all the Petterssons gotta think Lucas P is 100% a must have in any deal.
Probably something like McTavish, Sennecke, McQueen and 2x 1st round picks.
That said, while it would be worth it, I don’t see this trade happening with us involved. If he does get moved it’ll be to new jersey
He’s a superstar gamer but another LHD would be a problem
