Rivers deserves to get in period. The fact, Gates wasn’t a first ballot Hall of Famer doesn’t give me confidence that Rivers will get in this year
This is gonna hurt but we need to brace ourselves and be okay with the fact that Philip is not a first ballot. We all may feel he is. I do too. But that’s not the actual narrative surrounding his career. If Eli didn’t get in first ballot and he’s basically the crutch of the “yeah but no Super Bowl for Phil, look at Eli and Big Ben in his class” arguments. Just a does of a reality for everyone to hopefully prepare us.
Top 10 in numerous passing stats, including passing yards and touchdowns.
NFL Ironman with 235 consecutive starts DESPITE front office mismanagement – hiring bottom 10 coaches (Turner, McCoy, Lynn) and fielding bottom 10 O-Lines.

Rivers might not be first ballot, but he’s very much a HoF QB especially considering the franchise he played for.
