Things Just Got Very Interesting For The Philadelphia Eagles Going Into Huge Game vs. Chicago Bears

A huge game coming up for the Philadelphia Eagles on Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving at Lincoln Financial Field as the birds play host to the streaking and hot Chicago Bears. You’re watching Philadelphia Eagles now. My name is Chase Senior. As always, no matter where you are, how you’re tuned in, thank you so much for making today’s show a part of your day. And I’m still pissed off about that Cowboys loss. The Eagles should have never lost that game. But now we flip the page and focus to the Chicago Bears. And this is going to be a game that’s going to have a lot of implications in the NFC. And for Philadelphia, because they lost that Cowboys game, the door in the NFC East kind of open and at least a jar for Dallas here. The birds going to be rocking their all black uniforms on Black Friday. And so, you know, the motto, look good, feel good. I’m rocking the all black on today’s show. I’m looking good, I’m feeling good. Now, the Eagles have to actually play good as well. Black helmets, black jerseys, black pants. Going to add a little bit of aura to this game on Black Friday, and it’s going to be quite the environment at Lincoln Financial Field. Kickoff set for 300 p.m. Eastern. And I was very surprised to see this because the Bears started the year 0 and2. They are 8-1 since then. The Eagles are coming off a heartbreaking, confounding defeat to Dallas. But Philadelphia, I know they’re the home team, but they are touchdown favorites in this game. I think it’s close. And so I kind of like the Bears plus seven, but is it a get-right game for the birds? The oddsmakers might be thinking about that as well. The over for the overunder for this game is actually pretty low with two of these offenses with a lot of star talent. But again, this Eagles offense can’t find a groove and they can’t put together a full 60 minutes. So, it’s 44 and a half points there. Temperatures are going to be between 35 and 40° as of this recording and it is going to be sunny with that November crisp in the air, playoff feel in the air as well between these two playoff level teams. programming reminder. The Rams unseat the Eagles to become the number one seed in the conference with their win. And they’ve really been a hot team. And you think about the two games that the Rams have lost this year. They should not have lost to the 49ers on Thursday Night Football. And then Philadelphia scored 24 unanswered points against the Rams to come back. The Rams should have not lost that game either. And the Eagles blocked two field goals in that game. And so I think right now and all year long sample size, the Rams have been the best team in the NFC because they won on Sunday and the Eagles lost to Dallas on Sunday. Philadelphia drops to the number two seed at 8 and three. of note if those two teams finish with the same record. Eagles do own the tiebreaker. This game is huge and interesting for the birds because look at who the number three seed is, the Chicago Bears. If the Eagles lose this game and the Bears win it, Philadelphia then drops down to the number three seed in the NFC. The Buccaneers hanging on to the lead in the NFC South, six and five. Bad division, probably the worst in football. And then the three wild card teams, the Seahawks 8-3, number five seed. The Packers, six seed, 73 and one. And then the 49ers won a weird game on Monday Night Football, taking down the Carolina Panthers. They are 8 and4. And Philadelphia has an opportunity here to really control their destiny inside this conference, right? They beat the Rams, beat the Bucks, beat the Packers. They beat the Lions who are currently on the outside looking in. They split with the Dallas Cowboys. You beat Chicago here. You feel really good about the Eagles chances to get a top two seed in the NFC playoffs. And last year, yes, they hosted the NFC Championship game, but that was because the Commanders knocked off the Detroit Lions, the number one seed, and the Eagles as the number two seed still had that home game to get to Super Bowl 59. and that Eagles lost to the Dallas Cowboys. It just opens up a lot of possibilities in the NFC and in the NFC East. And it opens up a lot of other opportunities for other teams in this conference to maybe jump the Philadelphia Eagles or for the Chicago Bears to have that tiebreaker over the Eagles and shoot. If the Eagles have a 2023- like collapse and the Dallas Cowboys, who play the Kansas City Chiefs on Thanksgiving, start to rise up and they get hot, the Eagles chances of winning the NFC East could go out of the window if they somehow fold, struggle, and fall apart at the seams from here on out. I don’t think it happens. I think the Eagles do win the NFC East, but if Philadelphia loses this game, I’m not panicking now, but I’ll start to panic. And this game between Philadelphia and Chicago is going to go a long way in deciding some important seeds in this conference by season’s end because I also don’t think the Bears are going anywhere either. You look at the Eagles remaining schedule, they’ve really gotten through that gauntlet. The schedule has eased up just a bit, but you lose to Dallas, you play a hot Bears team that comes to Philadelphia feeling very confident. This would be their statement win. It’s going to be their Super Bowl. Then the Eagles have to go on the road crosscountry travel to take on a really good Chargers team on Monday Night Football in week 14. Philadelphia comes home to play the Raiders at home and then the final three games of the year. You get the Commanders two times in three games, but they would love to play Spoiler and we’ll see what the status of Jaden Daniels is. Hasn’t been cleared for football activities yet after dislocating that left elbow. But week 16, you’re on the road to play the Commanders on Saturday. Then you go on the road to play Buffalo week 18 against the Commanders. That’s not an easy ending to the schedule there. The Bears remaining schedule. They have the Eagles on the road Black Friday. Then they’re on the road to play the Packers on the road to play the Browns. That is not easy. And so if you’re the Eagles, you’re hoping that you can take care of business against Chicago. Have them lose some games so that they can’t unseat you for a top two seed. Then they play the Packers again on Saturday on the road against the Niners. That could be a playoff level game right there. Then they play the Detroit Lions. That is a hard schedule for Chicago. A team and a fan base that is riding high. And did you know there’s actually been a hilarious Eagles Bears Alliance because the Eagles have dominated the NFC North. Beat Minnesota, beat Green Bay, beat Detroit. Eagles have an opportunity to sweep the NFC North, but because they’ve beaten all of the other NFC North teams, that has really helped Chicago take over first place inside their division. Couple of things that really stand out about this Bears team. We’ve nicknamed them here at Chat Sports, led by the fearless leader Harrison Graham, the Cardiac Bears, because they have played in so many crazy downto-the-wire close football games that they’ve been able to pull out of their ass. They have won six onescore games so far this year. So eight wins total, six of them one-score ball games. And what’s crazy about the Bears, they have eight wins, but a minus3 point differential. And another thing that stands out in this game, the point spread. Again, shocked that the Eagles are seven-point favorites. They’re giving a touchdown to Chicago. Bears getting seven points. That line really did surprise me. this 2025 Bears team. And speaking of that point differential, by the way, the third team in NFL history to have eight plus wins and a negative point differential through 11 games. So that means the Bears have been a little bit lucky. Obviously, winning all of those one score games not always sustainable. Year-over-year, it doesn’t always carry over. See the Washington Commanders from last year. And so they might be eight and three, excuse me. But they do have some holes on that team. And if the Eagles play up to their potential, up to their caliber, Philadelphia should be able to win this game. And it would be yet another win against a winning team and another quality win for Philadelphia here on the 2025 slate. And so that brings me to this things’s interesting now because Philadelphia lost that game to Dallas. But did the Eagles need that? Did the Eagles need to get humbled? Did they need to have a realization that they can’t keep playing that way? Because it’s one thing when things aren’t going right and you’re still winning. Nick Serriani is going to say, “Well, we keep winning ball games.” It’s another that the formula that you had all year then led to a loss. Is it going to force the Eagles into making some changes personnel-wise? Is it going to humble the Eagles to the point where pressure is on them in this Black Friday game? Is it going to put them in a position where they understand we’re committing all these penalties? We have to clean things up. Did Philadelphia need that loss? If the Eagles win, the birds are back and every fan is back on the wagon. If the Eagles lose, full panic mode in the city of Philadelphia. Now, in this game between Philadelphia and Chicago, I’m excited to see this quarterback matchup between Caleb Williams and Jaylen Herz. Two contrasting styles, two different quarterbacks in this game. And this season, Caleb Williams has completed less than 60% of his passes. So, he has not been a high completion percentage guy, but he’s come alive late in games and he’s played incredibly clutch and he’s made some unbelievable plays out of structure. At times he can layer throws, at times he misses some layups. He does have unbelievable athleticism though where he can use his legs, use his feet to create whether it’s running or throwing and the velocity that he can put behind the football. He can find keyholes with some of his throws. Decisionwise, I think he’s put the ball into harm’s way a few times this season, but when you look at the raw numbers, they’re pretty good. 16 touchdowns, three interceptions. He can hurt you with his legs, just like Herzken. 293 rushing yards this year. He has three rushing touchdowns. So, a good year, too, for Caleb Williams. 19 total touchdowns and four interceptions. for Herz. I know some people are concerned about the accuracy. Hasn’t been as accurate this year as he has been in years past. And he’s missed some throws. He’s still completing 67% of his passes. He’s thrown for nearly 2,300 yards. He’s made good decisions with the ball, although sometimes that conservative nature can hurt this Eagles offense. 17 touchdowns, one interception, 298 rushing yards, and then thanks to the tush push and him being a strong runner, he has those eight rushing touchdowns. Key to the game going up against Caleb Williams and this Bears offense for this Philadelphia Eagles defense, which got gashed by Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys last week. They have to have a get-right game and they are feeling the pressure because their secondary is also banged up. Reed Blankenship, Andrew Makuba, Adori Jackson, all heard. The Eagles defensive line, their pass rush didn’t really show up against Dallas as well as it had against Detroit and Chicago going up against Caleb Williams because of his ability to create out of structure and get really creative with improvisational plays. The Eagles have to have disciplined pass rush lanes. If they don’t contain him, if they don’t set the edge and Caleb can get to the perimeter, he’s going to be able to make off-platform throws and he’s going to be able to move the chains with his feet. So, if the Eagles do not contain Caleb Williams, he will slice them with those out of structure plays. And then another thing that the Eagles need to clean up against the Chicago Bears is something that we’ve been talking about over the last couple of weeks, and it’s this that has to do with Nick Serriani. So, let me pose this question here, and we’ll put this together for a YouTube short. Is Nick Serriani failing the 2025 Eagles? As the CEO head coach, he preaches tough detail together. That slogan was on the Eagles Super Bowl ring. He also talks about mastering the things that take no talent. Well, all year long, the Eagles have not been detailed and they have not mastered the things that take no talent. They have been an undisiplined and sloppy football team. Penalties have been a problem for Philadelphia all year and in particular on offense. Those penalties are killing this Eagles offense against the Dallas Cowboys. 14 penalties for 96 yards. And that took away a lot of chunk plays and explosive plays that could have changed the complexion of that football game. And you look at the Eagles penalties by game. This is inexcusable. 9 6 5 8 9 4 8 5 7 9 14. That is six games with eight or more penalties. Last year in 17 games in route to winning the Super Bowl, the Eagles were more buttoned up. They had eight plus penalties only four times. This has to get cleaned up by Nick Serriani and his coaching staff. And if you want to complain about this offense and the vanilla nature of it, don’t blame Kevin Patulo. This is Nick Serriani’s scheme. He needs to be better. He has to have this Eagles team more prepared to play the Chicago Bears. And if they’re not, they’ll lose this game once again. And Jordan Milada talked about these penalties on WIP on Monday night. He said, “Kevin Patulla put us in a position multiple times to win that game. What do we do? Not execute. Put some blame on us as players because we’re out there playing. We’re the ones who are crapping all over the place.” And speaking of Jordan Myata, him and the rest of this Eagles offensive line has to improve. They have to up their game and they have to play better. And you think about those penalty problems, right? You would have had the ball at the 12 on that throw from Jaylen Herz to Devonte Smith. Fred Johnson illegal hands to the face. Ball moves back to the 38 yardd line. The two big plays to Dallas. I love the designs. I like the creativity. Got picking up yards after the catch. Wiped out by penalties. Penalty forcing you into a long Jake Elliott field goal. Then he misses from 50 plus. So those things just can’t happen. and they’ve happened when the Eagles have actually had this season pretty big offensive plays. You think back to the Denver Broncos that long play to Devonte Smith wiped out by another penalty. It’s been a constant problem all year long and being an undisiplined football team doesn’t lead to winning Super Bowls. The Eagles have to clean it up. They have to get buttoned up and they have to stop shooting themselves in the foot with these self-inflicted wounds. Before we dip on out of here, don’t forget to give me a follow on social media.
