[Music] It’s a double dose of good injury news, Broncos country. Welcome into the Broncos breakdown by Chat Sports. My name is Moose. Who are we talking about today before Sunday Night Football on NBC? Alex Singleton, Pat Certan. We could be seeing both of them hit the field this coming Sunday night. Now, we’re going to start with Alex Singleton, the more positive, believe it or not, out of the two positive injury news. Both of them are good, but Alex Singleton is like, at least from what I’m reading, 99% likely to play. As you remember, he was diagnosed with testicular cancer after the Thursday night football game against the Raiders. But Broncos wire had this to say about the injury update. Alex Singleton is expected to be back on the practice field tomorrow. That was written yesterday and should be able to play against the Commanders on Sunday night. while his status does remain TBD at this point and this time is encouraging news after he revealed a cancer diagnosis uh that you know the Broncos then released as well after that Thursday night victory over the Raiders. So we know what happened. We don’t need to keep rehashing that. But we do also know that his ability to stop the run is one of the more unmatched ones on the Denver Broncos. specifically when it comes to the linebacker room. He is an unbelievable pressure player linebacker. His run grade is seventh among qualifying linebackers this football season according to PFF. Now, he’s not going to be one of those players that drops back into pass coverage and lights it up there. It’s not his game. He’s a pressure player. He’s a blitzer. He’s a run stopper. you need him back on the field because when you get Singleton Greenaw side by side with those interior linebackers, it is sensational. And also, I think it should be important to note that Dre Greenaw has been holding his own, at least while Alex Singleton has been out. So, I think when you see these two uh take the field together, albeit it’s been kind of a limited time that you’ve seen them both on the field, it is going to be great things, especially down the stretch of this 2025 season. I also admire Alex for his commitment to the Broncos and to his teammates. It really does look like a brotherhood, especially with him. He could have just as easily stepped away for the entire year. I mean, think about it. If I got diagnosed with cancer, even if it was something that was early detected, I don’t know that I’d be coming back to work right away. I might take a little bit of time with my wife. I might take a little bit of time with my family and then kind of reassess my options and my future with whatever company that I’m with because nothing is more important than your health. But obviously, he’s got an absolute passion for this football team. He’s got a passion for the game, to his career, and to this Denver Broncos locker room. It’s also going to be awesome to see these this threeman rotation just constantly going in and out. Drelaw Singleton and Justin Sternad. Strron I’ve got to give a ton of credit to man. He has been sensational this year. And look as a backup lineback I think honestly if you put Justin Sternad on a team like the Titans or on the Raiders or any of these bad football teams, he’d be a starting caliber linebacker. He really is that talented. But this is not about Justin Sternad. It’s about our boy Alex. So, do me a favor if you haven’t done so already. Hit that thumbs up icon for Alex Singleton. Now, coming up, I’m going to give you more Pat Certan injury news. Maybe not nearly as good as the Alex Singleton news. a little bit more nebulous in this one, but I do think it is a positive uh trend nonetheless. All right, let’s talk a little bit more about Pat Certan, the reigning DPOY, defensive player of the year. This is good news considering he hasn’t played since what, week eight. I mean, eight full starts and then boom, sent him to short-term IR to get his body right. I do believe he could have played through those injuries, but I think Shawn Payeyton said, “We’ve got plenty of depth. We don’t need you on this field right this moment to get these next couple of wins. Just make sure your body is right because we will absolutely need you down the stretch of the season and heading into the playoffs. But Shawn Peyton wasn’t exactly the most clear about if Pat Certan was going to play. He was asked specifically about Certan playing and he declined to comment. Now you could look at that and say, “Well, that doesn’t sound like good news.” But I think from what we’ve seen with Shawn Payeyton’s injury history this year, talking about Dre Green Law’s injury and other injuries, I think he’s just trying to keep his mouth shut this time because no matter what he says, something’s going to get turned into a negative spin by the media. And you know what? I’m one of those people, too, that like you can take a lot of what coaches say and spin a different narrative if you want. So, I’m actually okay with him saying nothing at this time. But, you know who did say something? Jeremy Fowler from ESPN who doesn’t have to bite his tongue whatsoever. He said Broncos are optimistic that linebacker Alex Singleton and cornerback Patad Certan can make it back into the lineup week 12 post buy. Certan with that pec injury has been out since week eight, but week 12 has been the target. Now remember, week 12 was the by-week, so obviously week 13 could be when he returns back. And I need to see this guy back onto the field. It’s the best quarter in the game. I’m tired of people telling me that it’s Derek Stingley from Houston or Sauce Gardner from Indianapolis. Give me a break. It’s PS2. Christian Gonzalez from New England. Stop. Stop. Stop. Stop. It’s Pat Certan. We know it’s Pat Certan. And even though the numbers may not be eyepopping, nobody throws to his side. He’s also been playing injured since the Colts game, which was week two. But the NFL is not ready for when the Broncos actually get healthy. I mean that. Think about this for just one second. It’s probably not something that you’ve thought of or if you have, good for you. The weather only gets worse as the season goes on. The weather gets colder. It gets to be, you know, 10° 20°. There’s snow on the ground, specifically if you’re playing at mile high. So obviously it’s a defensive like gold mine because the offenses can’t do nearly as much in the cold weather. So this defense which is already outstanding is going to be getting into a better situation to play and I think that’s sensational. So get good luck the rest of the NFL. But back to back to Pat Certan for just a second. This is a cool little stat that I found. Yards allowed per coverage snap. So every time they drop back into coverage, this is exactly how many yards they’re allowing per snap. Patan less than one yard per snap. That’s unbelievable. And by the way, this number could be better. Remember, he hasn’t played since week eight. So his numbers probably are top five, maybe top three if they have him on the field. So, I’m not worried about Pat Certan being at the top of any individual statistical category, but the rest of the Broncos quarterbacks have been outstanding for the most part. Made a couple plays here, a couple plays there, a couple pass interference calls, Riley, but uh for the most part, I think everybody’s been doing great. Riley included. This depth on this quarterback room is outstanding. Even Chris Abrams Jaquan McMillan is an absolute dog. I could go on and on about every single player. Jade Baron’s been really, really good. I think the two that have really stuck out to me have been Riley Moss and Jaquan McMillan. Jaquan McMillan specifically, I think he needs a contract extension. I really do. It’s going to be an unbelievable, unbelievable 2026 future and beyond for this Denver Broncos team if they can all stay together. But more into the near future, the Denver Broncos take on the Washington Commanders, most likely without Jaden Daniels. So, it’ll be Bo Knicks against Marcus Mariota in Washington in the nation’s capital. So, you can’t take anybody lightly. However, on paper, Broncos are a much better football team. I’m super excited to watch some more Broncos football. It’s been way too long. Sunday Night Football, prime time under the lights. Make sure that you are there. Broncos linebacker Alex Singleton, who was diagnosed with testicular cancer, is returning to practice this week after the Broncos bye week. This is great news for Broncos Country because of Singleton’s commitment and performance in the Broncos run game.
