THIS IS WHAT THE KNICKS NEED! Knicks News After WIN vs. Nets
That is the type of performance the Knicks are going to need from Carl Anthony Towns if they want to put a banner in the rafters at the world’s most famous arena. Coming up on today’s show, we got to talk about Cat. We got to talk about Josh Hart. But first, if you enjoy beating the Brooklyn Nets, the little bros, hit that thumbs up icon for me right now. You are watching New York Knicks now by chat sports and I am your host Marshall Green. Thank you to everybody that clicked on today’s show. As we recap the win over the Brooklyn Nets, we talk about Carl Anthony Towns who I felt set the tone in this game. But the reason you won this game is you are just a way better team and a way better organization than the Brooklyn Nets. A little bit of a clunky start for the New York Knicks. They’ve kind of fallen into that trap where they don’t come out humming in the first quarter. I mean, last night against the Nets, they will lose the first quarter 26-24 and they only win the second quarter. Um, it was 27 to 22, but you blew him out in that third quarter 38-27. I thought Cat set the tone in this ball game. I think the first 13 shots he put up in this game were all from inside the ark. And we know entering this game that Carl Anthony Towns had been struggling shooting the ball from distance. I think he was shooting 31% from three before the win on Monday night. And that had been an area that I’m not really too concerned about, but it definitely was something that was holding this Knicks team back a little bit. and Cat was trying to get himself into a groove and there were some rumors and some chatter that there was some words between Josh Hart and the team on some defensive intensity following the last loss. And I thought Cat not only brought a physical downhill mindset on offense, I thought that was one of the better defensive games that Carl Anthony Towns had played in a while. He was protecting the rim. He was altering shots at the rim. I think he had a couple of blocks in this game as well. Two blocks and one steel for Carl Anthony Towns. He was a big body on the board. 12 boards. And like usually Cat’s a guy that’s going to dominate inferior opponents. He did that tonight. But Nick Claxton isn’t just some scrub on their side of the floor. There were talks when he was teammates with KD Kyrie that he was in the defensive player of the year conversations. And Carl Anthony Townsy took him to school just too big, too strong. And Cat is now using his three-point shot even when he’s not taking it as a weapon. Even though he’s shooting 31%, teams still have to close out on him. And he’ll throw that pump fake up, put it on the deck, and attack the rim as well. When he plays physical, when he plays aggressive downhill, works inside out, that opens up his game and everything else for the New York Knicks. Hats off to Carl Anthony Towns. Had been struggling, I thought, so far this year. And if the Knicks are going to win a championship with Cat on this team, he has to play like this. And he can’t just do it versus the Wizards. Can’t just do it against the Nets. He can’t just do it versus the bottom feeders in the league. He’s got to do it against the top guys. I do like that he did it though against talented defender in Nick Claxton. Jaylen Brunson smooth like easy 27 for him. Shoots good from from the three-point range. shoots good from two as well. I I thought that he just had complete control of this game. I want to talk about Josh Hart a little bit. He was named the defensive player of the game by Mike Brown in this one. And you could tell one thing I love about Josh Hart is he takes this rivalry between the Knicks and the Nets kind of serious. Um last night he had to start his first game, plays 37 minutes. Um and I thought he made the most of it. obviously only seven points, didn’t really score the ball all that well. Three of eight from the field, one of three from downtown. But he was active on defense. I thought he moved his feet well. I thought his hands were active as well. Uh Josh Hart had two steals, two blocks, so four stocks for him. He was aggressive. I thought he set the tone. He was attacking the basket even though he missed a couple. Uh he is he is the Energizer Bunny and he is someone that the Knicks rely on in games like this. I consistently watch male Bridges this year and I consistently say I want more. I want more shots on his play. I want him to get more opportunities. He has been so efficient, but I want him to be more greedy and I just don’t know if that is in his style of play. I would like to see the Knicks kind of feature male Bridges in the first quarter a little bit more. We’ve noticed so far this year that the Knicks have been a little bit slow in the first quarters and I think it would be a good idea to get him the ball a little bit more. Maybe try to focus on him getting some work instead of just trying to spam Brunson and Towns in the four first quarters like they have so far this year. Um I I I would like to see that, but um I’m not the coach. Bridges, he has he has really impressed me this year. Someone that uh we expected to have a big year this year. The points per game are a little bit lower than they were last year, but the efficiency is way higher. Duce McBride struggling to shoot the ball from outside the last couple of games. Hasn’t really done it really since that loss against the Miami Heat, but thought he thought he was impactful. Thought he played some good defense. The Knicks are going to need him to take his game to another level, to a level he’s already done before, though, if they want to be a serious contender in the Eastern Conference. Jordan Clarkson didn’t shoot the ball well at all from three, but like Towns, he forced his way to the rim a couple of times, some baseline drives, and one thing I’ve really grown to be impressed about with Jordan Clarkson is obviously he has that reputation of being a shot chucker. He hunts good shots in my opinion. And trust me, he could take his bad shots. He’s done that this year. But overall, I feel like his shot quality has been pretty good. And I’ve been impressed from the free throw line and down for him. I think he plays well around the rim. He can finish with either hand. I’ve been really impressed with Jordan Clarkson in his time as a New York Knick. I know the stat sheet isn’t going to show that Tyler Kick made a big impact, but in that second quarter, man, when he came in, I thought he got Cat involved. I thought he pushed the pace, five assists, zero turnovers. That’s what you need from him. And and I worry about Miles McBride being the on ball point guard off the bench. And I know this Knicks offense isn’t really something that needs a lot of creation and and you know a prototypical point guard because of all the ball movement and player movement, but Tyler Kolix showed the pace up a little bit, got the Knicks out and running in transition and it just he just has a way of putting the ball on a player in a perfect spot that I feel like increases the shooting percentage for these guys. I know he’s probably only playing right now due to some injuries, but I would like to see Col remain a part of the rotation here and continue to build, try to grow, and hopefully be in a spot where he can play eight minutes in a playoff game where Brunson’s got to sit down um and the offense doesn’t fall off a cliff. The defense is definitely a worry for him, but um something you just got away as a head coach. I keep on hoping the Gershon Yabiselli game is coming and he is known as a scorer. That’s why he was signed here, to score, to shoot, to create, to be another hub on offense. I think he’s doing a good job with his energy and his effort and and pursuing the basketball and setting some hard screens, but but as we are what, 16, 17 games into the season, um he has been uh a little bit disappointing. One thing that I just cannot understand is why do the Knicks allow players like Noah Clowny, who no disrespect, don’t shoot the ball well from three, light them up from downtown. Clowny was entering this game shooting 30% from three and he ends up shooting 54% on 13 attempts. The Knicks as a whole, their perimeter defense was a little bit better, but I think it was more so just that the Brooklyn Nets outside of Cloudy couldn’t have people hit shots. I do think the defensive intensity picked up a little bit. Um Josh Hart talked about how in a meeting reportedly that he wants that to be more of a focus with this team, but man, I am worried about the Knicks when it comes to specifically their perimeter defense. They are bottom two in the NBA right now at defending the three-point line. And they’re not shooting the ball all that well as of late either. I get it. No Shammit, no OG. Um, they got to make some more shots and they got to defend the other team for making shots from downtown. Good win. Love the way towns played. Start to stack some W’s now though. But Kat Still Plays No Defense at all . And The Better Teams will Not Be Push overs like the Nets. And the Nets are Not a powerhouse . So we are Supposed to beat them !!
Defense Wins in The Play Offs!
I want to be more impressed but unfortunately, for me at least, clocking in high 30-point games and sorta okay defense once in awhile doesn't really make up for how easy it is for teams to score on us while he's on the floor … He HAS TO BE scoring while he's on the floor or else all we're getting besides no points is horrendous defense, ZERO paint presence, No help defense, everyone needing to help on every play leading to wide open threes , terrible transition defense because he just never gets back quick enough, slower pace, low IQ movement on both ends of the floor (kind of reminds me of Jericho Sims, always just standing there in the way with his defender jamming up the lane for everyone) … I love this team my whole life and coaches on the good teams are just too smart not to target him every single offensive possession which pretty much iludes to , I have no idea how we win a chip with Kat being on the court 35 minutes a night And I think many other diehard kNick fans see the same thing but are just praying for different
This isnt groundbreaking…..they should beat the Nets, they suck…..the question is are the NYKs equipped to beat the Cavs, Pistons, etc?? At this moment no, they have a ton of glaring issues and defense is the main concern. The NYKs are not a championship contender when comparing them to other teams in the east.
B
I am sorry. KAT needs to go back inside his mom and come back as a player who is willing to play defense. If Dallas takes AD for Kat, I am all in. I will drive Kat to Dallas. Nick Claxton is 6'11 and 217 pounds. Kat should bully him in the paint.
Why are you all high on KAT ?! How ? Did u not see him play his whole carreer- at the very least inconsistent!!!! Randle # 2!!! No defense!! Wake up newbies
