Teams have to bottom out to rise again. Everyone knows this, it’s not a forever condition. If any of you had vision past the next 3 days you wouldn’t have your drawers so far up your arse about this
I’m at the point where I’m hitching Trotz to Martin. If Martin is top 6 fine, if not fire him.

I’m with this article. It’s not so much about the rebuild – it’s about Trotz.
Does he have the talent to identify *modern* NHL players and build a modern NHL team?
I think Trotz could find a Weber or an O’Reilly all day – responsible, no-nonsense, hard working guys who maybe don’t win you games but can lead a team Fitzcarraldo style over the mountain.
But I don’t think Trotz had the skills to work with guys who don’t fit that archetype. Martin is a great example. Like someone said, if the best thing the announcers can say about your player is that they are competitive, you made the wrong pick.
