  1. The perceptible increase in humidity in western PA was due to the sweat forming on Bob Nutting’s brow.

  2. Highest ever first year arbitration was what Bellinger at 12. Im guessing Skenes eclipses that.

  3. Worth stating that this money didn’t come from the pirates pockets. Not implying anything other than adding the detail in case someone didn’t know that.

  4. Good to see them do right by him without having to.

They could have low-balled him like they did to Cole, but know that, if they want any shot at extending him, if there is a cap system implemented, it was to give him a decent raise now, too.

  5. He is going to be gone BEFORE he ever hits arbitration – probably out of here before the trade deadline next season.

  6. Ooh, another Paul Skenes article. Let’s all race for the top comment saying he shouldn’t be in Pittsburgh much longer…

  7. What’s the big deal, that’s fucking pennies to billionaire owners. Especially when they are so close to a lockout and/or rumored cap, which I don’t buy ever happening.

  8. So the pirates are now broke and can’t sign any real talent since we spent 3.4 million?
