“We’re not… 2-26 bad… No way are we that bad.” Cade Cunningham after the Piston’s 25th loss in 2023. They are now tied with the franchise record of 13 straight wins and lead the Eastern Conference, with much of the same core cast of Cade, Duren, Thompson, Ivey, and Stewart.

“6 turnovers, couldn’t keep anybody in front of me.”
Mad respect for that honesty back then, man held himself to account.
Monty Williams is a basketball terrorist.
The current Pistons core was forged in hellfire. Glad to see them running the East
Not trying to catch them with a strays and respect for what Detroit’s doing now, but those Pistons were playing a lot of Killian Hayes, ~~Saddiq Bey~~, and Marvin Bagley and they really were 2-26 bad.
I might be drinking the koolaid heavily but I genuinely think Duren is gonna join Cade (who is currently there imo) as a top 10 player in a couple years. Once they’ve both hit their primes we’re gonna be wondering how we didn’t see this coming
So happy for Cade man, Pistons are super entertaining to watch on league pass.
I thought it was pretty evident to anyone that actually bothered to watch them during that losing streak that they weren’t that bad. They played plenty of good teams pretty close and sometimes even went up double digits against them. Usually when a team has that record they don’t even play anything that resembles decent basketball.
Monty however would throw out some totally nonsensical lineups in critical moments
that were pretty much destined to fail. I also remember one game where he forced them to run the same play over and over in crunch time for Cade that got the other team’s best defender **switched** onto him and always ended in a bad shot or turnover.
Wow the headline completely ignores the most important piece in Tobias Harris
I forgot they were THAT bad… I was listening to Zach Lowes pod yesterday and he mentioned that team losing 28 straight. Just unthinkable given where they are now
There’s hope 🙏
monty refusing to play Jaden Ivey was basketball terriorism
This was the conference that made me a fan of Cade. You could tell how much it was affecting him and how much he cared. I’m so happy Pistons are doing good now, hope they build themselves something great there.
I’m sorry Killian Hayes but you will never be a rotational piece for any NBA teams. He was just so bad to an awful Piston team that season.
I still cannot believe Monty was starting Isiah Livers and Killian Hayes. I’ve watched Livers play a few games for the Suns this season and he doesn’t look like an nba player unfortunately.
Then they are not… 15-2 good…?
Like everyone else, Monty was such a problem for the success of those youngsters. I really like that after that low moment their core got the same guys and are enjoying the spotlight.
I remember this. It broke my heart a little.
Cade man. He deserves the best. When those cowards Monty and Weaver were ducking the media for the shit product they put out, Cade came out and said he wants to own this. He wants to be the face of the losing streak. He took all accountability for something that wasn’t really his fault.
If NBA wants a true face of the league, they can depend on a guy like Cade if they ever need him.
Cade finally seeing the light, respect to this guy
Good to see him happy and winning these days. Wasn’t all that long ago, the only bright spot for him was a [pbj sandwich](https://youtu.be/RJ3TLSyc6hw?si=arZp-uTuujXCyno1).

I mean it can then be attributed to Bickerstaff, right? He is the coach that seems to get young teams that dont have it figured out yet, to the the next level of figuring it out. That is kind of par for the course for his coaching procedure so far, or at least his reputation.
There was a lot of “snatching defeat from the jaws of victory” in that record. Still remember the game they played the Celtics really close, one of my favorite games that year
I’m legit happy for him and anyone else still there from those days
The coach was 2-26 bad but turns out the players are pretty damn good.
Love Cade man
Cade stayed positive throughout all the losing. I watched a lot of Pistons games at the time and he was still clapping on the bench, high fiving his teammates and cheering on baskets from his team. He deserves all the success that’s coming his way.
Remember that wild beard Cade grew during that era, man looked rough. Everyone wanted to see them win but no one wanted to be the one they lost to
That was the day I became a fan of Cade. He was such a pro through that losing streak
It is worth mentioning that they actually weren’t 2-26 bad. They just got caught in the middle of a league that had pretty decent parity. Teams were scrambling for wins and everyone brought their A-game to beat the pistons since the wins were important. We are seeing something similar this year with Washington/Indiana
Don’t get me wrong, they sucked and had a horrific coach but that loss streak was a perfect storm of bad things
This might be the easiest team I’ve rooted for in my lifetime that wasn’t my own. Monte Williams needs to be on trial for what he did to the Pistons
Not a Detroit fan but I’m happy for that fanbase who’ve had many bad years to be eating good right now
The real ones remember Malachi Flynn dropping the most random 50 piece in April that season lol. And yes, the Pistons did indeed lose that game too… DET 113 / ATL 121 with Jalen Johnson getting his first career triple-double.
I have nothing but respect for the Pistons and their fans. I wouldn’t mind seeing this franchise really do well again.
What a great dude to have leading your team for the next decade. A franchise player you are proud of and who does things the right way is just such a pleasure to have on your favorite team.
The Tobias Harris effect
He sort of reminds me of Jalen Hurts in how he carries himself.
Echoing a comment I saw in this post – Thats a face of the league player right there.
He is my favorite new gen player and I think I’m going to be a fan for a very long time.
Always been a big Cade fan, and he carries himself really well. Humble but confident. This guy is pushing for best player in the east.
Cade is easily one of the most intelligent stars in the league, emotionally and otherwise. Detroit got a really good one
