Rich Eisen: Why the Green Bay Packers are Still Legit Super Bowl Contenders | The Rich Eisen Show

You think the Packers, if Jordan Love and the wide receivers start to get it together, they’re a Super Bowl contender? Why not? Why not? You know, I I I I know I know a lot of people have written them off, but listen, this is what you need to have. This is what you need to have in the National Football League. And thanks for the call, Dylan. This I’m now speaking to Packers fans. Um, this is what you need to have, right? You need to have to win a championship. You need to have a running game and a defense two things. Packers have a run game. They didn’t play Josh Jacobs this week. I think because they wanted to the same way Burrow didn’t play on Sunday. They got two games in five days and they got six more games to go, including the one in five days on Thanksgiving. It is a massive game against the Lions in Detroit. you can sweep Detroit and basically say to them, even though we got a tie in our uh record, we’ve now swept you and they would go at that point in time 83 and one. So, you need to also have a great base of operations from which to make a run, correct? In order to be special. And we’ve seen teams go from, you know, last uh last spot in the wild card to winning it all. We’ve seen all of that. All you need to do is just to have a ticket. You also need to have a coach who knows how to win in these games. And I understand they haven’t played in a Super Bowl. I I you say all what you want about Matt Laflur. Put up that num that stat board again about week 12 and beyond. 30 and nine. And I and and I the Bills are 29 and9 and I know Christopher you are giving voice to a lot of people saying what happens in January. That’s right. There’s only one team with rings and that’s Mahomes. That’s the difference here. The Bills have Allen and the Packers have Jordan Love who has now gone three out of four games struggling after having that 370 against Rogers in Pittsburgh. Can Jordan Love put it together? Have we seen it before? You bet we have. And we’ve seen it start in Detroit on Thanksgiving. We’ve seen it. They went and they arrived earlier than expected with Jordan Love a couple years ago and we’re trying. We’re waiting to see how much further they can go with Josh Jacobs now. Last year, one and done in Philadelphia. No bueno. I understand that. But to sit here and say they’re not Super Bowl contenders, I don’t think you can say that. Micah is coming for you. Defensively, they’ve been lights out. It starts in Detroit on Thanksgiving. We’ve seen it before. And then Jordan Love took it all the way to the final four of a conference. Getting bounced in the divisional round in San Francisco where he made one of the worst throws of his entire second half of the season. Unfortunately, was poorly timed. But let’s see what happens. Why not the Green Bay Packers? Absolutely why not indeed. Hour three coming up with Mark Scharth. You know, you look at Green Bay’s road from here at Detroit. They play Chicago twice. They play the team that’s right in front of them twice. It’s that rival. We talked about Michigan Ohio State. The Michigan Ohio State of the National Football League is Green Bay and Chicago 100% with all due respect to New England and whomever. You know, we all we’re all New York centric, you know, Northeast biased. Oh, it’s got to be the Giants and the Cowboys or the Cowboys against, you know, I know the Cowboys aren’t in the Northeast, but they play in the NFC East. It’s got to be Philadelphia and all that. No, no, no. This is the This is the rivalry. They visit Denver. They have Baltimore at home. It’s going to be tough games. They’re going to have to win tough games, but that’s how you can show that you are Super Bowl worthy. And it’s not a bad base of operations to start it from 73 and one. And their losses are all three-point losses at Cleveland, home for Carolina, home for Philadelphia. I mean, it’s not like they’ve been blown out. That Dallas tie that looked pretty piss poor in week four only looks better now. I know I’m giving you the the the glass half full, which our glasses of Jim Gaffig and bourbon no longer are. Um, but yeah, man. I don’t know. This feels like nine seven and one. Nine, seven and one would be a disastrous 10 was at the most. It’s a really hard schedule. Say they say they lose to at Detroit. Tough game. Detroit looked pretty good coming back against the Giants. Uh they split against Chicago at Denver. Really difficult. If you if Baltimore is as good as you think they are, that’s a loss, too. That’s a three and three finish at best, right? which makes them, you know, a 10- win team, which puts them in the playoffs. And we’ll see what happens. Last year, a 10- win Seattle team didn’t make it. I mean, that tie might help them at that point. But, you know, they’re looking at maybe the seven seed at best here. That’s worst case. What if they go 4-2? That’s right. That’s 11 That’s 11 wins. I don’t know. The way Jordan Love is playing, I’d be pretty shocked if they go four- two down the stretch. Unless Jordan Love, like from a couple years ago, shows up and tells Detroit, “It’s our Thanksgiving Day.” Hey, you made it all the way to the end. Thanks for that. 1. Not to say they can’t win it this year, but the Micah trade is for them to really compete for the next two seasons, not this one. One or two free agency windows could make GB dangerous

  2. The Pack won their last SB from the #7 seed…. this could be a championship to take, all they need is return of JJ to rugged running, JL needs to show out consistently-IF this happens they could win it all.

  3. The punditry about Love is *wild*. It speaks to watching box scores rather than the games or tape. Dude is and has been balling out, and the advanced metrics also support it

  4. This Packer team has the pieces on defense to make a run. Question is the offense. Love has been underwhelming and they don't have consistency in their run game or passing; partly due to injuries. If that consistency can come, they can be a scary lower seed team. Idk if they have the peoole to win the divison though.

  5. Love didn't struggle buddy. He has the same injury that Baker is sitting on the sideline in a sling with, & he played. They didn't need him to go crazy. He hit some insane throws in that game, but boxscore watchers don't see them.

  6. what the. hell are you people talking about. Jordan Love has played just fine. They dont throw the ball….when the packers played the Giants they had 7 drops….Love played his butt off….

  7. Jordan love struggled the last two weeks? the game against the giants was his highest grade of his career but Rich must just look at box scores and not actually watch them play. Chris also saying parsons isnt a factor this year despite being double teamed every play and leading the league in pressures. you are both morons

  8. Why not? This is why national media is clueless. The Packers have the worst o-line in years. This moron has no idea that Wilson gained 100 of his yards Sunday after contact. He was hit at the line on virtually every carry. The o-line will cost them. You cannot mask deficiencies on line of scrimmage.

  9. Jordan love struggling. WTH u talking about rich. Ya sure eagles game. He played bad. Carolina game atrocious play calling. Giants game his pass catches dropped 7 passes that game. And Vikings game, he didn’t even need to do anything. Vikings aren’t a real team go up two scores and run the ball cause JJ wasn’t scoring a TD on Green Bay.

  10. This is NOT a championship team. I don’t think they will even take their division. 1 maybe 2 games and everybody is giddy. They have yet to beat a team that they have to.

  11. National media needs to stop with this Chicago crap acting like they’re a tough or good team. Nobody is worried about the bears lol. They have 1 win against a team with a winning record this year and that was against the mason Rudolph led Steelers and they barley won that game lmao😂
