Harbaugh On Hampton & Raiders Prep | LA Chargers

opening the window for him, are you? Yes. You excited about that? Um, good to good to get him back on the field and uh start ramping up. Uh, any other windows opening? Tito is also uh Tito and uh and uh Amarian today. What kind of boots do you if if Amarian don’t play? What kind of boots do you think he could bring back to the offense? Um just going to really ramp up. Uh so see uh see how the week goes, you know, but uh good to get him back out there. Where do you think he’s at right now getting back healthy and back into the football shape that you want to be? Um yeah, that’s something we’ll see. We’ll see through the week. excited to uh get him out there and and ramping up. Whenever he does come back, how will that change things in your mind for Kamani? Will you have thought about that at all? Uh Kamani’s going to practice today. Kamani should be good to go. Um as far as their car split, I mean whatever does uh not going to prognosticate that. I mean, we uh we’ll just see how the week goes. Just what was the process like for you as far as self scouting during the uh the bye-week? Good. You know, it uh you know, those days after a setback and uh in anything or those are long hours, painful hours and days, but uh I think that that’s what what the good ones do. I mean, you’re you’re curious to learn and uh and uh you want to learn and grow and um I thought our uh thought we did a good job of that. Um and excited excited for today really. I mean uh get back on the field. Uh everybody has come back uh you know with that uh that mindset to to uh to roll. So, uh, yeah, there’s a good sense of, uh, you know, feeling good, you know, great day to have a great day today at practice. Obviously, not going to get into specifics as far as what you identified, you know, as far as the issues, but just coming out of it, how confident are you that you guys were able to identify some things that you can you can fix here over the last six games to find more consistency? Uh yeah, I mean really uh you know that’s that’s part of the part of the excitement really to go out there today and uh you know put some of those things into uh into uh action comb through uh you know some of those some of the the the details and the and the finer points. But uh you know on it at it and uh you know uh ready to chip away and and work at it you know from all angles. Are you expecting to make any uh changes to the offensive line as far as who’s starting moving forward? Um, you know, that’s a great question. Uh, I feel like we’re as healthy as we’ve been since Joe. Um, and terms of, you know, uh, Jamari Trey, uh, Bobby Hart, uh, looks like he’s going to be back ramping up, uh, this week as well. 10 starters. I mean, we’ve got we’ve got, uh, we’ve got, um, you know, we’ve got the we’ve got the guys, you know, all 10 have started at some point for us this season. So, uh, you ready to, uh, ready to attack that and and, um, you know, put the put the pieces together and and really, you know, like to, I mean, the hope is to solidify it for the, you know, from from now to the the rest of the season. And, uh, and and also put in the contingencies um, you know, starting back up uh, in in those kind of uh, those kind of roles, you know. Um, so that’s another, you know, source of, uh, yeah, excitement. The the three guys you mentioned, Jamari, Trey, Bobby, those are the guys that are sort of in the mix at tackle. Is that what you mention? Sure, yeah, I think uh yeah, four four good healthy tackles there. Got to look at Jamari at tackle as we talked about last week. And uh that’s how we’re uh we’re set to set to roll today. And interior wise, no changes there though. Z Bradley, that’s going to be your three. Yeah. Figure out how to tackle. Um and Foster Sel also interior guys as starting options or asth Yeah, depth. Yeah. Yeah. Um just going through re re-watching sales guiding and all that stuff. Just with six games left, how would you characterize the identity of the football team right now? Um yeah, a very capable team and uh you know the the the want to is I I pride I mean I I think uh I’d characterize as that in that you know in that one word I mean uh pride in uh in individual performance group group group performance you know the way they prepare the way they practice uh and and the and ultimately the production on the field. I mean, uh, means a lot. Everybody cares. Uh, everybody wants to, uh, be good at their work, you know, and, um, and and that’s what I’ve seen, uh, you know, throughout the season, and, uh, you know, coming back, uh, guys came back yesterday, Monday, and, uh, couldn’t have scripted it any better. I mean, every guy locked in from the from the beginning, workout, meetings, walk through. Um the same thing has happened today and um so yeah it’s a great day to have a great day. Uh let’s make today the best best meetings in practice of the season. Jim, when you talk about the the pride and stuff like that, how do you make sense of the I guess the different versions of the way you guys play sometimes and losses and wins like how do you make sense of the lopsided or the differences of what happens like Jags lost to other wins you guys have had? Yeah, I mean win the next game, you know, that uh that’s that’s how I make sense of it. Uh it’s a it’s a oneweek league. Uh you know huge game uh you know this week and because it is the next game because uh because uh yeah our guys do want to they take a lot of pride in in what they do players and coaches and Raiders. So it is a rivalry uh and we know they’re going to bring it. So uh yeah let’s get ourselves ready for that. um win the next game. You mentioned the Raiders. You got to get back to that AFC West play. It’s been a while since I think week three. How much do you enjoy that heightened sense of awareness around these games? Yeah, I mean it uh brings out the competitor in you in in all ways. They fired Chip Kelly um after the game this week. Does that change the approach for you guys as far as preparing for them offensively? That’s a good question. Um, in a in in all the ways. I mean, you’re getting ready for Gino, you’re getting ready for uh uh Ashton Genty, Brock Bowers. Uh you know, their their their playmakers, their their uh their players, the schemes, uh you know, it’s more take more probably u training camp approach to it, like more of an opener approach to it. uh to where um you know we got to we got to play our defenses, make the have the adjustments and um you know more of a more of an opener type of type of mentality. You mentioned a couple times after the Jazz game that you feel like you guys were out strategized in the game. What did you see really diving into that game as far as like what could be corrected in that facet? Yeah, I mean we’re as you know I mean can’t can’t go into they’re great questions and you guys have dug deep uh nothing but respect for uh but can’t go into all the schematic layers of uh you know just out of respect for what we’re going to what we’re going to try to do for this in this in this onee game you know in this this game this week but um yeah as I said last week I mean after that game and always, you know, I thought uh you know, there’s there’s u but that, you know, that event um you know, you learn from it and but you got to leave that event behind and and uh get ready for this one. Jim, I don’t know how much kind of off topic Chargers, but with JJ McCarthy, I don’t know how much you’ve got a chance to look at any of his stuff this year, but there’s been some critique about his mechanics and like accuracy like at all. Do you remember him from Michigan, his his accuracy, his mechanics? Like what stood out to you if you had any of those issues that you can remember at all? Uh, just love JJ. Tremendous competitor uh and player. I uh but I’m not in a position to, you know, to to weigh in. Just run defense-wise, you know, early on this year. I’ve asked you a couple times about it, but you had sort of said that that was really a point of emphasis for you guys. Just statistically, you guys have taken um a step back as far as running defense. What are you seeing from from that phase? What has to improve for you guys to sort of get back on track in terms of stopping the run and, you know, creating the run wall that you talked about? Yeah. Uh it what I’m seeing is it’s an emphasis. We uh we need to improve. Um yeah, need to improve. Uh and that’s a big one. That’s the, you know, the biggest one on defense, biggest one on special teams, you know, the return game, offense, protecting Justin. Uh and you know, I think those are, uh, you know, without going into the detail, I mean, those there’s there’s plenty of emphasis Is it do do you see it as like like fundamental technique stuff? Um like going back to the you know the separators it just talked about block destruction like that kind of stuff or is it you know without going into too much detail do you see just start peeling back the layers I just um hopefully we are going to you know what we’re preparing for what we are uh you know attacking hopefully you’ll see that on Sunday and you did just mention the the return game um what are you seeing from Darius is, you know, obviously had the injury early in the season, missed a few games. What have you seen from him since he’s been back from that injury? Um, just more opportunity. Need more opportunity. Just uh um again, without going through the all the layers, I mean, you know, we’re hopefully you’re going to see that Sunday. Hopefully, we’re gonna get some opportunity and and uh and you know, get him in space. You know, that’s that’s what I want to

  1. Sounds like they’re gonna “ramp it up”. Would really like to see a culture of starting practice earlier in the day so they will be better conditioned and not come out so flat in those East coast games. If they get to the playoffs, they’ll be traveling East again.

  2. We gonna beat the Raiders everyone’s gonna think we’re playoff contenders then get our shit pushed in by Philly and reality gonna sink in. With Bozo, Zion, Penning and Shitkins starting this team ain’t going anywhere this season.

  3. PLEASE protect Justin I get our o line is so bad, but these guys need to play like they want it. Also hope the defence was disciplined enough to bounce back and show how good they really are this week. I know this team is super good even with all the injuries we have, they just need to lock in and be more disciplined, Btfu⚡💙

  4. What a weird ass question asking about JJ. We have way too much on our plate to worry about a player on a different team. Whether he coached him in college or not. Still weird
