GET UP | Jeff Saturday believes Daniel Jones will lead the Indianapolis Colts deep into the playoffs

in the corner. I think this is a tough question. Since 2000, which quarterback class produced the fewest wins in their rookie season? You do not have to name all the quarterbacks. He just needs the year. So, he clarified this cuz he said in 2000 the number was zero. So, it’s actually starting in 01. So, 2000 doesn’t count. So, he didn’t didn’t ask the question. Well, but at least he clarified it, right? I’m between two years. 2013 when EJ Emanuel was the only first round pick and Dino Smith was in the second round. And then it was 01 where the Falcons took Michael Vic first overall. The Chargers took Drew Brees, but Breeze didn’t play that year. I don’t remember another quarterback from that year’s draft. I’m going to say 2001. Oh my god. That’s right. That is incredible. That is so hard. Uh the the the the total was six. It was Quincy Carter won three games. There you go. Michael Vic, Chris Wanky, and Mike McMahon won one each. And Brew and Breeze didn’t play. And and Breeze did not play. This year’s class has six wins to this point. So they need one more to elevate themselves past that. That’s looked pretty good the other day. That’s ridiculous. Did you see that? That’s one of the best ones I’ve ever seen. That’s Cowboys Eagles from this press. So, it is not an overreaction to say that. Speaking of which, let’s do our overreaction on this Tuesday. Here we go. Gra, we’ll do run through these pretty quick. If someone said the Vikings need a new starting quarterback next year, is that an overreaction? No, I mean JJ McCarthy’s been much worse, I think, than they anticipated. At the very least, they are going to need to bring in some kind of expect. If someone said Shador Sanders should start the rest of the season in Cleveland, is that an overreaction? No, absolutely not. I mean, he looked he looked the part. He looked like he belonged. Uh, you know, not eyepopping numbers, but but a very solid first NFL start. Going to win the AFC South. Is that an overreaction? It is not an overreaction. This Texas team has a championship caliber defense. It’s getting its quarterback back. CJ Strad likely this week after going 3-0 with the backup Davis Mills. They play the Colts twice, including this coming Sunday. If they win that game, I think they become the favorites. Yes, they got to jump over the Jaguars, too, but I think, you know, I think if you look at those three teams, the number one unit is Houston’s defense, and I think they can they can drive them. I think that’s fair. I think going into this weekend, we would have said the number one unit was Indy’s offense, and clearly it sputtered like crazy in Kansas City, and we’d like to poke fun because that’s what we do here. But I am genuinely interested, and I think everyone will be. What is your reaction? What did you see from the Colts on Sunday? And how alarming in your view was it? Yeah, I think the score led people to believe the Colts played better than they did offensively, right? Because they had this big lead. They had 10 first downs in the game. This is a concerning loss. Like when you when you look at what Spags did, the defensive coordinator for the Chiefs, they took the Colts completely out of their game. They shut down Jonathan Taylor and they forced Daniel Jones to try to beat them, which he didn’t do. Now, some were, you know, aggressive decisions down the field they didn’t complete that maybe there was a guy open. They didn’t play in phase. And as you’re looking at this football team to to your point, Dan, when you talked about the best group now is the Texans defense, I would have told you they they could have moved the ball much easier against this Chief’s defense. They did not. And let me tell you, the the the the offensive line and the and and the the Jonathan Taylor mix, the two games they lost to the Steelers and now to the Chiefs, they were completely taken down in those two groups. You can 15 rushes, 14 rushes. That’s not enough for Jonathan Taylor to get this thing fair. So the lead but the lead was there in the fourth quarter and overtime and they had so many chances and Daniel Jones did not. They had the four three and outs specifically with regard to Daniel Jones. His doubters are loud this week. What do you say to them? Yeah, I I I say it’s it’s probably earned at this point. Like as explosive as they are, at some point this is like the Sam Darnold conversation we’ve had for for him. At some point in big games, guys have to make enough plays. Had he had they lost the game, but Daniel Jones completes some of those passes. I think you can even take that off the table. But because of the three and outs and being so ineffective, like at some point in football, especially playoff football, it’s going to be put to the quarterback, he’s got to make enough plays he did not. One of the differentiating factors when you have teams, even if they are statistically very impressive, one of the different differentiating factors is ways to win. Are there different ways to win? How many time how many different ways can this team win? Can they win on their defense like the Chiefs can? Can they win running the ball? Sometimes they can do that. Can they win through there? Yes, they can do that. They’re not a great team, but they have multiple ways to win. With the Colts, it’s not. We run this ball. We could win. We don’t run the ball. We can’t rely on our defense to have like a shut out like lights out game. We can’t rely on our quarterback to pick you apart. There’s one way that this machine works and if anything gets a little bit cloudy out there that machine works and the truth is the offensive line fits in there. The offensive line does a really good job moving forward. When they start getting into a lot of pass protection, they’re in trouble. That that’s not their strength either. And I think beyond that is once you figure out the way to beat a team, what is going to be the response to your point? So for Shane Stiken, he always says they like to throw to score and then they run to win. So they want to come out the game and be aggressive and attack and get the ball down the field. Now for Daniel Jones of it all, you watch Spags in the second half of that game, the defensive coordinator for the Chiefs, he just blitz pressure at him and I think those are going to be the key facts because now when you see a blueprint like that for now, next week when you go against the Houston Texans, Demo Ryan is going to come after Daniel Jones because now I need to test you. I need to see if you were able to figure out the answers from a week ago. Now coming forward to our game and Denil Hunter and Will Anderson, those guys are I was going to say they don’t even need to bring the freaking pressure anyway. And the Texans have the extra rest having played the Thursday game. Yeah. So what happens when that can he improvise with his legs? Maybe he hasn’t really been doing much of that. But you look at Daniel Jones has a playoff win on his resume with the Giants, but that year was very similar to this, right? Like Saquon Barkley had a big year. They played really good defense. like it was within the system, but he still was able to make plays with his legs that year when he got in trouble. If we start seeing that, I think there’s maybe you get hope for more than one way to win. I’m surprised that they haven’t used him in the running game a little bit more than they have. All right, we’re rolling on here and a very quick time for a dope or nope. Do we have time for that? Yeah. Dope or nope. A lot of people are the viewers are noticing Dominique and Jac, will you stand next to each other, please? A lot of people are noticing the two of you have sort of assued the traditional suit jacket today and are going with the more casual jackets there. And everyone seems to like what do we all think of the look here? I wish you had gotten the memo white guys did not get the did not get the call. We’re doing bad boys. I mean what happened? We better be careful. We banding together. Always. Always. I think the look is good. All right. The showdown of a lifetime is on the way. These three guys, a mustwin for both on Thanksgiving. Plus, Mayday, the Steelers in the middle of a slide will tell you why Pittsburgh’s problems have everything to do with a decision they made in May. 1. IDK why everyone is doubting Jones now. He played great for the 1st 3 quarters. Yeah, he played poorly in the 4th, but I have no clue why Steichen was calling up pass plays anyway.

When you have a 20-9 lead in the 4th quarter, you want to chew up the clock. Not try to add onto the lead. Especially, against a very desperate team. All Indy had to do was run it 3 straight times on their 3 4th quarter possessions and KC wouldn't have had time to come back. They would have gotten the ball at their 3 with 30 seconds left while down 20-17. Instead, they called 8 pass plays and gave KC 6 extra time outs.

Indy will be fine. Steichen just has to remember to use JT in the 4th.

  2. THESE GAMES ARE "RIGGED" FOR MONEY. THEY SAID BUCKNER WAS OUT DO TO A NECK INJURY; BUT HE WAS ON THE SIDELINE AT ARROWHEAD STADIUM. THEY NEW IF THEY KEEP HIM OUT THE COLTS WAS GOING TO LOSE. EVERYBODY & THEY MAMA KNOWS THAT BUCKNER IS THE COLTS OFFENSE.
