Rookies Making Plays & 2025 Tennessee Titans Mr. Football Finalists | Titans Football
Tonight on Titans Football presented by SeatGeek, the Titans and the Seahawks squared off in a matchup that delivered touchdowns and a special team spark. Coach Mike McCoy breaks down all the dynamic moments. Plus, we spotlight Johnny Hecker’s game day cleats and the story behind them. We’ll also catch up with former Titans kicker Ryan Suckup. And the finalist for the 2025 Tennessee Titans Mr. Football awards are revealed. Let’s press play on Titans Football. He runs. He dives to the end zone. Touchdown. That is a Titans touchdown to Chip Ray DK. Shovels it off the hill. 30 25. Dives over a player and dumps it off. It’s caught. 20 30 under pressure. Yeah, Cam’s going to dive. Lost one over the middle. That’s caught. And we welcome you to Titans football. I’m Taylor Zarszer coming to you from the Bet MGM studio. And I’m joined by Tennessee Titans head coach Mike McCoy. Week 12 against the Seahawks came down to another one-score game in the final minutes for our official review. Let’s start with your thoughts, coach, just overall on the team’s effort, how consistent their performance was for 60 minutes, how close they were to victory, and how ultimately how badly you want one of those. Yeah, it’s all about winning and I think the way the team fought for 60 minutes, the way they they made plays consistently, the offense came out, you know, had the big long drive, 15 play drive, you know, took up just, you know, just about 10 minutes. Uh, unbelievable drive to start the game. And then as you go throughout the game, uh Chim’s big play, the way he played, he kind of energized, we needed, we needed someone to make a big play at that point in time and it really energized the entire uh team, the stadium, everything. Some of the plays the defense made throughout the game, the red area stops at certain times, sudden change, things like that that come up that they did a nice job with. So, uh, but we got to find a way to be more consistent for 60 minutes to win one of these games. You referenced Chim DK’s 90ard punt return for a touchdown. He also had a touchdown on offense. Coach, he leads the entire National Football League in allpurpose yards as a rookie. I mean, this guy is truly playing at an allp pro level. It’s been amazing to watch him. Uh, you know, week after week, you you turn on the tape and you a lot of times, God, you’re just you’re one block away and then all of a sudden here he goes again. You know, this is the third time he’s done it. Obviously, one was called back. Uh, but just an explosive player. Uh, and I think now everyone’s in in the return game, everyone wants to do their job that much better because they know if they just make if they block a little bit longer, he could take it to the house and he’s proven that. You said after the game that our quarterback Cam Ward played well. You’ve watched the tape now. What did you see? Did an outstanding job. I think the way his pocket movement um for the very p first pass of the game of him taking off and running there, he saw that he was looking from right to left in a progression. There’s a there’s a crease in the inside. He takes off and runs. Did a really nice job. and you know just the way he’s playing checked a couple plays at line of scrimmage there for us to get us in a better play and that’s all part of the growth of being a quarterback in the NFL. You’re using rookies all over the field. We’ve already referenced two of them. You had a practice squad player at least for most of the season. Xavier Restrepo come up and make a couple of catches. Kevin Winston is a rookie and he’s just becoming a starter in the National Football League. How are all these guys performing for you, coach? We’re very pleased with all the rookies and give the coaches credit for developing the players and getting them ready to play in different roles as time goes on throughout the season. And there’s nothing like experience for young players. The more they play, the more comfortable they they play. You see Kevin flying around making plays. He’s playing a lot faster. He’s been back there with Hooker, you know, now for a number of weeks. So, the communications, you know, comes out, it’s a lot easier. It’s smoother. Uh the pattern recognitions on certain things on the back end just the more you play. And then with, you know, all the younger guys on offense, the receivers that were, you know, the three of them that were up this week were on the practice squad early on in the year. And then their time comes and they make the most of their opportunities. And and that’s what this game’s all about, the NFL is when you get your number called, make the most of your opportunities. That’s what these guys are doing. Great stuff, coach. Coming up next, Titans offensive coordinator Nick Holtz is going to break down the film on Cam Ward’s touchdowns. And now he’s going to bring DK in motion and he’s going to fake it to DK. Cam keeps it himself. He runs. He dives to the end zone. Touchdown. That is a Titans touchdown. What a play. Cam Ward gave his body up and scored. That was Cam Ward going airborne for his first rushing touchdown as a Titan. It’s time for Titans tape and we have offensive coordinator Nick Colts here to break down some of Cam’s big plays. Cam’s got a bunch of options on this and down in the red zone. It’s really about guys making plays. So really Cam’s going to look at the DN to start and so he can if that DN takes it and he knows he’s got numbers here on the outside, he can hand this ball to Chim and Chim can take it around the outside. If not, right, he’s not sure. He’s not sure the look he’s going to get. He can pull it. And now he’s got Chig coming around here. We got the pulling the guard. We got him pulling for one. We got Lloyd here on the back block. And this is a really cool play from Cam from the standpoint as he goes right. He’s got He’s not sure. He feels like it’s getting a little muddy. He pulls the first one. He’s got a chance to go here. This is a really elite run here. So then all of a sudden, we keep going here. Chig does a great job. He doesn’t get the ball. He ends up going become a blocker here. Cam makes one miss and then all of a sudden you can get right up the hash and this is just a really special run and a special guy making a play down here in the red zone for us. Unbelievable effort there. This happens pretty fast. All right. So they got the hard part for the quarterback sometimes is when you get these ends going here and call a squeeze scrape and so they’re really gap exchanging. So that’s why he ends up kind of end up uh holding on to it. Comes backwards then goes there and he’s got a chance here for that ball take kind of right up the middle. Let’s keep going and go to the touchdown pass to Chim. So, it’s a really nice job by Van Jefferson. He’s really the one who makes this play, gets the guy open, gets Chim open. So, Chim does a nice job. He sets his defender so pushes him up a little bit and then he gets to push the front pylon and then Van after the pick, he goes to the back pylon. So, really nice job by Cam. Really nice job by everybody in the offense. Get kind of a breather play for the O line. They just get to kind of run and reach and get their gaps and get nice chance for the touchdown right on the edge. Good to see the offense scoring touchdowns in a multitude of ways in this last game. Yeah, we’ll take it any way we can get at this point. You know, down in the red zone, it good to go two for three. We had a chance to go three for three down there early. We end up getting down there and missed one. Uh Miss Van Jefferson for an earlier one, but it was good for us to get down there. And anytime you get down there, we want to score and those guys did a nice job. Thanks, Nick. We appreciate you very much. Congratulations to all the players. We’ll reveal the division 2 finalist and the kicker of the year nominees coming up in a bit. But first, former Titan Ryan Suckup delivered some of the biggest kicks in franchise history. Today, he’s coaching young kickers to kick with that same precision in Where Are They Now? presented by Nissan. Hey, Ronnet. Right to left wind a little in. So at contact, we got to lock in at contact. And that’s something that excites me the most about coaching is kind of the opportunity to to pour into young kids, young men, and uh kind of watch them grow. Okay. Hey, so with a new holder, if just give yourself like especially today in practice, give yourself a split second longer to let them get it down. You know what I mean? You don’t have to be off in 125. Like let them get it down. Let’s have a good period. You know what I mean? Hey, this is Ryan Suckup. I played for the Titans from 2014 to 2019 and this is what I’m doing now. snap set suckups kick. Actually got asked by by coach Schovin here at NBA if I’d be interested in coming out and and helping with, you know, some of the kickers, punters, some of the special team stuff. And um it just it was, you know, I looked into it and and he was very accommodating allowing me to kind of do it on days where I could do it and not interfere with my kids stuff. And I’m certainly coaching a lot of my kids teams as well. And um it’s been awesome. It’s been awesome here. The great school, a lot of great kids. Am I like are my steps like more on field goal? The only thing I notice with your steps and you’ve but you’ve kind of always done it is when you’re back. You’re kind of this this foot looks a little bit at the ball. I think you could open it just a little bit. Been kind of fun to to lean into him a little bit and and watch him grow. You know, it’s fun seeing them get excited about, you know, when they play well on Friday night. Friday was good on all accounts. Yeah, it looked good on it looked good on tape or or making a kick or handling a snap well, whatever it may be. Look, I think orange’s just my consist most consistent. I know you’re hitting orange good. You’re turning it over, too. You get it out. You get it out and you can swing up through it. Yeah. You know, football’s hard. Like kicking’s hard, snapping’s hard. Uh you never perfect it. You never master it. I think it’s a lot like life where there’s always things to work on. And uh it’s it’s just cool to see these kids see these young men, you know, wanting to work at it, wanting to get better. I think that’s like the most exciting part. There you go. Good ball. Good ball. I’m kind of naturally an encourager. So, uh, I try to put things in perspective and and and be encouraging and be really good that we’re hitting it. We don’t none of that falling off. You know what I mean? Cuz it’s going to get accentuated in the wind. So, lock in just like you’re hitting it. Make football fun. Uh, this game is supposed to be fun, especially at the high school level. Uh, and at the same time with that, uh, you know, you kind of build that relationship and then you can kind of challenge the boys a little bit and kind of push them a little bit. Let’s enjoy the success when when we have it, but at the same time like let’s not back away from the adversity and I think the adversity that we face is going to grow us. It molds us. I was really blessed with some amazing like mountaintop moments like getting to win a Super Bowl, getting to uh you know play with some of the greatest players of all time. Um and then I also got to experience like dealing with injury, dealing with you know missing a kick that when it didn’t go my way. just letting the kids know like, hey, it’s not gonna be perfect all the time. And um it’s more about what are we learning from from those difficult times. Um when it doesn’t go our way and you did a good job, you’re backed up. But I still think if you can catch it, just think catch it out in front of you. Don’t let it get in here. I think you’re going to be that much better. You know what I mean? Embrace the challenge of football. Embrace what the game gives you, what the game can can teach you, and uh hopefully you can take those lessons with you and go out and have a really productive uh successful life. I had a great experience playing here for the Titans. uh made some of the best friends that I’ve had in my career. Uh guys that I’m still friends with to this day. You know, guys like Ben Jones, Brett Kern, Ryan Tanahill. Uh you know, guys that we still are, you know, playing golf together every week. Uh watching our kids play sports together, whatever it may be. But it’s uh it’s awesome to do it with those guys. And it’s been kind of fun to have each other and uh you know, still go out and compete on the golf course. Uh this past year there has started a professional athlete golf tour. We are fired up. We’re excited. Good day. Final round. It’s going to be a lot of fun. Really look forward to competing. Got some great guys in my group. So, it’s been a lot of fun this week. We’ll see how we do today. Uh, and I’m playing on that. We’ve going to have a bunch of events this coming up in 26. Uh, all four sports, NFL, NBA, NHL, and MLB. And it’s a lot of guys that love to compete. So, I’m I’m training hard at that, trying to trying to improve my golf game and and hopefully go out and play well in some of these tournaments. So, a lot of cool things going on. I’ve really enjoyed this season of life. And um, you know, we’ll see what see what happens next. It’s now time to announce the remaining categories for the 2025 Tennessee Titans Mr. Football Awards. We’ll start with the finalists for division 2 in class A. They are Jared Curtis, Nashville Christian School, Nicks Fulen, Tipton Rosemark Academy, and Terry Ward, Nashville Christian School. Congratulations to all the high school football finalists, their families, coaches, and teammates. This is truly a wonderful honor. The winners of the 2025 Tennessee Titans Mr. Football Awards will be announced on December 9th during a special ceremony at Nissan Stadium. All right, after the break, Titans punter Johnny Hecker’s fancy footwear for my cause, my cleats. Welcome back to Titans Football. Sunday was the My Cause My Cleats game where more than 20 players wore custom painted cleats for organizations and causes that are meaningful to them. Coach, also a lot of the coaches were wearing the same shoes. You were wearing some cleats in honor of who? Mora Shuy. She had triple negative breast cancer. Uh we know Mora from our days in Jacksonville. Her husband Bill and I were on the same staff. And uh my wife Kelly and Mora were very close. So she kind of went through all the all the you know treatments and everything and you just you feel for them and everybody else out there. So it’s a great opportunity for all the players, coaches to go out go out there and bring awareness to certain causes. Good for you, coach. Johnny Hecker wore cleats designed by athletes from Special Olympics. The Titans punter invited three of them to the facility for a VIP reveal of the cleats and had a couple other surprises in this week’s SeatGeek Sound. Today was special because I got to meet the three athletes from Special Olympics Tennessee. We had Sammy, Jacob, and Lucian. I got to work on the design of my cleats and the execution of it. This has been all you guys. Yeah. All your hard work. Yeah. Okay. This is the first time I’ve actually get to got to meet the people that have done all my cleats. So, this is pretty special for me and special for you guys to have put some hard work into this. So, you ready for me to check them out? All right, let’s do it. Oh, baby. Check these out. That is so cool, you guys. Way to go, Lucian. Way to go, Sammy. I thought the design was great. It’s always cool to see your name on something and also to see the honoring of the Special Olympics organization with their logo right there. Really big. Seeing their faces light up was tremendous. All the artwork they put into it, the work they put in, the research they did on Johnny Hecker is now coming to life. They’re going to be able to see it on TV. They’re going to see it in person. They see what they’re able to do now on a pair of cleats. It’s really cool to see the creativity of the athletes and the thoughtfulness that they put into the design. And I’m really honored to be wearing them. Johnny Railroads in a football game. Best day of my life. With the amazing help of the Tennessee Titans and our partners at Nissan, we’re able to grant Special Olympics Tennessee with two $5,000 donations. So, I’ve been working with Special Olympics since I was 15 years old. Dang. And the team has recognized the amazing work that Special Olympics Tennessee does with you guys and with everyone else across our state. And I have a little surprise for you guys actually. Okay, so one second. On behalf of the Tennessee Titans, we are granting the Special Olympics $5,000 for all their programming throughout the year. So, this is a pretty cool deal to recognize all the work that they do for you guys and all the other athletes across the state. And one one more thing, one more thing really quick. Let me check. Let me see what we got over here. Our partners at Nissan are actually going to go ahead and double the amount. So, that’s another $5,000. We’re going double digits here. 10,000. $10,000. We’ll put this one down below. That’s a lot of money. A lot of money. That That’s going to do a lot of good for the community and for the athletes of Special Olympics Tennessee. We were absolutely not expecting another donation from Nissan. And so to receive a double of the donation, having to match that donation, it means the world to us because it just shows that Nissan totally understands what it means for Special Mix athletes to have the opportunity to compete. Nissan is the official transportation partner of Special Olympics of Tennessee. And we have supported them with donations, with vehicles, with volunteers in their statewide events throughout the year. So it made perfect sense and we were more than happy to match the donation from the Titans to our friends at Special Olympics. Nissan has been supporting the Tennessee community for over 40 years and to partner with these amazing Titan players on their charities only expands the opportunity to really impact the community and it was a perfect match for us. After the break, key matchups for the Titans next opponent, the Jacksonville Jaguars. We’re back with more Titans football. Let’s look ahead to week 13 with the 7 and4 Jacksonville Jaguars coming to town. The Jags won in overtime against the Arizona Cardinals. Trevor Lawrence, of course, at quarterback. Coach, you were with him last year in Jacksonville. Travis ETN, over 800 yards rushing so far for the Jaguars this season. Two very talented players and two of my favorites. Um, it it was a great had a great time there in Jacksonville coaching Trevor for the three years and just seeing the way those two players played. They they love the game. They show up every day. They work extremely hard. So, it’s an explosive team and they’re playing really good team defense right now, too. It’ll take 60 minutes to get the job done. There’s always a little extra intensity. When an AFC South rival is on the schedule, Nissan Stadium will be the place to be for the Titans and the Jags this Sunday. Tune in for our pregame radio coverage of Titans Countdown starting at 11:00 Central time on 1045 The Zone with kickoff set for noon. For Mike McCoy and Nick Holtz, I’m Taylor Zarzer wishing everyone a happy Thanksgiving and we’ll see you next time.

Draft Jeremiah Smith in the 1st round. Make him a Tennessee Titan.
Might be 1-10 but this still my team and will never be scared to represent Titan up 🏈🏈
Restrepo deserves more opportunity's. All the scoring drives came when Restrepo was on the field.
