On this day 7 years ago, the Sabres rattled off a 10 game win streak and were number 1 in the league. This was the best 2 month stretch during the drought and we were all hopeful. Sadly we were the minority behind the famous thanksgiving stat which states “80% of teams in a playoff spot during thanksgiving will make playoffs”.. I always wonder how things would look nowadays if we were able to make playoffs that year..

  1. My parents came down from WNY that day with the sports section for me. We packed wedding swag bags as they lost to the lightning, watched them lose to the panthers after my rehearsal dinner and the rest is history. Happily married at least. Fun fact, our third date was the blackhawks game that clinched the tank. What even is time anyway.

  2. The atmosphere during the San Jose game was insane, the roof absolutely blew off the place after Skinners OT goal. Honestly other than Eichel’s return I can’t think of a better crowd during the drought era.

  3. Sometimes I think about how we accomplished this with a soccer coach and I wonder how good those teams could have been if we would have simply employed a hockey coach instead.

  4. I remember that 10 game winning streak. We played terrible and half the games and somehow got the win. Now that we need that luck, we don’t get it. Sucks

  5. This was the defense, and 18 year old Dahlin was the highest xGF of anyone on this list

    Rasmus Ristolainen
    Zach Bogosian
    Rasmus Dahlin
    Marco Scandella
    Jake McCabe
    Casey Nelson
    Lawrence Pilut
    Nathan Beaulieu

We were not making the playoffs that year, that the team wasn’t dead last in the NHL was improbable enough already

  6. The 2018-2019 team had talent. The games lost at breakneck speed from mid-February on doomed the team.

  7. Buffalo native living in Nashville. That was a fun start to the season that season. Probably have the same pic

  8. I don’t know if it’s sad, funny, cool, or all three that every Sabres fan remembers where they were and what was going on in their lives during this time of excitement… hopefully this spring we will have all have another one of these “moments” to remember ⚔️
