I got a uh this always a little bit emotional for me because it’s uh the day before Thanksgiving is my favorite day of the year. So, we’re going to run it down to you and and tell you why and tie it into football and and current events here with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Uh, I got to let you know, man, that if you watch podcast or listen to podcast, make sure you tap in each and every day so you don’t miss an episode like the one you’re listening or watching right now, uh, that is brought to you by FanDuel. And if you’re not an everydayer, that’s all right. We appreciate you, too. We’ll give you a reason to be one. All right. So, here we go. Don’t get caught slipping. That’s my going to be my last word on this Wednesday. Uh, you had a crossover show coming tomorrow on Thanksgiving with Tyler Roll and the mad man from Tennessee. Yep, we we did a crossover show. Y’all gonna really really enjoy that. And then obviously, uh, Friday, we’ll prime you up. uh as we get ready to go into the game on Friday and tell you some of the things to watch for. But today is my favorite day of the year because it’s the day that uh we’ve all spent serving. So we’re going to talk about don’t get caught slipping. All right. Food and football. Food and football. My favorite my main course, my favorite side and the unheralded dishes. We’re going to tie those into players and at the very top alignment works for the Jaguars. The reason why I wanted to start with alignment because the thing from a football perspective that I am most grateful for for this team is to have alignment from top to bottom. It is something that I screamed about at nauseium for years. And then when they finally got around to totally getting that alignment because at first shot Khan the owner did not totally clean house and then it became painfully obvious that it was going to be very very difficult to move forward and process uh and and make progress rather uh if he kept it the same way. I I would have been all for Trent Balky staying if he would have been in line, I think, from top to bottom with everybody. But we now know from what we have been able to kind of understand that everybody has a different managerial style. Tren’s kind of old school with it. And in this new NFL, it wasn’t working. And so that alignment uh is super super important. And now you see it because when you have tough times and you have weird games like the Jaguars have had, they’ve had more than their share of weird games this year, right? When you have those situations like that, man, it is hard sometimes to to to keep everything going and keep everything on track. And it’s really really hard to to to get it on track without having to go back and do it in a locker room in between games. I remember Doug Peterson used to talk about that when you said we have to learn how to fix things right now. Can’t wait. And then they never seemed to really really have an answer because it always felt like he didn’t think he had the players. And it doesn’t mean that the players weren’t good enough. It’s just that they weren’t in line. They weren’t aligned. They weren’t they weren’t what he he wanted and what he needed. And I think for a lot a large part, I didn’t think Doug was a big fan of Trevor Lawrence. That’s just me. But now it seems like there’s alignment, not only uh from a coaching and player standpoint, but from a personnel standpoint. Can’t catch the ball, go out, find somebody that can. I don’t care how much money the GM spent on the GM, looked at the coach, coach realized they couldn’t catch, and guess what? They went out and got a dude, traded for a guy despite the fact that they signed somebody else. You know what? Let’s get it done. And that is that takes confidence, that takes trust, and that takes alignment. And that’s what they have. Now, something else that got in line uh is Aren’t y’all When’s the last time y’all heard somebody crack a joke about the Jaguars moving to London? Yeah, it’s been a minute, hasn’t it? So, I am so glad that the city of Jacksonville, the Jaguars, and everybody else got in line and got a line to make sure that the stadium deal and the renovations got imp uh got approved. That means that at least for the next 20 years, you won’t hear. And hopefully the people that always say that kind of stuff, they they’ll be home, you know, chilling in retirement somewhere by the time this issue comes up again. But I am so glad that the city and and all of the parties involved, whether it’s the council, the mayor, or whoever, I’m so glad that they got in line to make sure that this city doesn’t keep getting shrapnel and drivebys from people that blame this city itself, like the people and the fans for and usually what I’m when I say the city, I’m talking about the fans when I say the city that blame the fans and everyone else for ineptness like on the field, off the field, stadium deals. I mean, if it rained during the game, they blame the fans for it down here. So, I’m really, really glad that those things lined up to the point where people are no longer blaming the wrong people for those things happening. And basically, it wasn’t really anybody’s fault. It’s just that things had to line up properly and that’s what has happened. So, there’s a lot to be grateful for from a football standpoint. Um, from a personal standpoint, I talked to my mom yesterday and my mom told me, “You tickle me. You make me laugh. She watches this show and all of my shows each and every day.” Um, and we, you know, she always dissects it. She My mama called me like right in the middle of like I’m working. My mama called I might be in the press box. My mama will call me and say, “You see that?” “Yeah, mama. I saw it.” Um I’m grateful that that I still can have those conversations with my mom. And I know a lot of people can’t. And I taught my mom how to watch football because she watched me when she was in Washington DC. She watched me uh and and found out that I taught my grandmother how to watch football. My she I lived with my grandmother in Florida while my mom was up there working and my mom would call back then the phone calls were really expensive. You could call about once a month and my mom would call and she said, “Yeah, I’m watching football. Your son teaching me how to watch football.” I was six, seven years old and um I’m really really really that that made my day yesterday with my mom. She talks about specific things that I say uh on this podcast and that is a blessing. And uh my grandmother, I’m getting emotional, I told you. But my grandmother used to let me stay up and help her cook on Thanksgiving, the night before Thanksgiving. That’s why I love cooking. I’m always talking about food. I’m always cooking and I’m always talk I wonder why she used to do that all the time. And it was just her giving. And when you put it in a nutshell, that’s kind of what that’s kind of what football kind of means. It’s like Sunday dinner, all the games on Sunday. Every single Sunday, my grandmother would always prepare a huge meal for everybody. And I try to emulate that as I got older and started doing the same things. But, um, this day means a lot to me because of that. And so, I wanted to kind of do a podcast to kind of put all of that in a little bit of a bubble for everybody about things that I’m grateful for. Football and food, they come together. We’re going to bring them together here in segment number two after I wipe my face from sitting here being transparent with you guys. Um, I got a little bit more coming here today on Locked on Jaguars. Today’s show is brought to you by our friends over there at Pelaton. All right, moving along here on Locked on Jaguars. It is Thanksgiving Eve, my favorite day of the year. And that is because two of the things that I love the most, well, three of the things that I love the most come together. That’s all of them begin with the letter F. Family, food, and football. This all comes together, right? And uh it it also kind of represents my motivation and the way that I do these shows. So sometimes I when you see me get upset at people, you see me yelling or screaming on social media or even on this podcast sometimes when I answer questions, I think people get it misunderstood and they don’t see the big picture, right, of of what somebody’s why is. And whether it was me standing up in the barberh shop for over 30 some odd years or me being on terrestrial radio or me doing these shows and these podcasts or the lit of phone calls that I’ve gotten over the I mean still to this day I get football related or just phone calls period from I’m telling you man if if y’all knew some of the people I talk to all the time about stuff you’d be like wow and I’m thinking like no it’s it’s just kind of what it is, but I do these shows because when it comes to football, I always like explained it to people that didn’t understand. Now, me and my grandma, we used to sit and watch games. I used to beg when I was six or seven years old, can we please watch it? Can we please watch it? Can we please watch it? And she didn’t understand. She says, “Okay, we had one TV when I was a kid living in an apartment. It was like 10 people living in a three or four bedroomedroom apartment.” and she said, “You got to teach me how to watch it because I’m not going to sit here on Sunday and watch this stuff.” And see, it was always Sunday and her dinner was always ready and people would come by and she’d be like, “He’s teaching me how to watch football.” So, I had to explain everything. I’d say two or three years in, my grandmother, she was explaining it to other people. And her favorite people, of course, were back then it was John, it was wasn’t John Madden, it was Pat Summerall and Tom Brookshshire. I remember that it was the NFL the day with Brent Musberger and Jimmy the Greek and Irv Cross and Phyllis George and she watched it religiously and then she flipped it over and watched the other network with Dick Inberg and the great Marilyn Olsen and and um so football for me always became trying to explain it but in order to explain it I had to understand it. So, uh, I lost her in 2020, but I know she’s probably looking down on me saying, “This dude is still sitting there trying to explain football to people the way he did to me 50 years ago.” Like, things just don’t change. So, for me, that’s why I do these shows the way that I do them. And I don’t get upset when people don’t understand um, what I’m trying to explain. I get upset when people misrepresent the intent about why I do what I do. And it’s almost like this dude’s trying to feed you and you’re slapping the food out of his hand telling him that he’s trying to poison you. And that’s I take this stuff seriously and I probably take it a little bit more seriously than a lot of people do. And um I I don’t like when messages and things get mixed. So, that’s my why and why I do these podcasts. And that’s why I pour so much passion into it. And uh I ain’t telling y’all that to bore you. But I’m telling you that to explain what my why is and why today is so uh meaningful for me. Like everybody will do all the celebrating tomorrow and all of the eating tomorrow. And that’s good. I’ll enjoy people enjoying the food and the nourishment and sitting there with full bellies. But to me, the work comes the day before. And that’s why I equate this to football because I’ve often said that when you see a game on Sunday, it is only a representative of the things that you did not see all week. How many times have my everyday heard me talk about the Chris Brown choreography and game day is is the concert night, but what goes into really making that happen is what have you done? Thanksgiving tomorrow on Thursday is going to be okay. What what did you do the last 24 hours and really for a lot of people we’ve been cutting vegetables and brining turkeys for days. So it’s always a culmination of what did you do? What have you been doing? When you sit down with that plate, it took you about 15 minutes to maybe put it together because there was a line of people. But trust me, it took 36 to 48 hours for that thing to be prepared the way that it was going to be prepared. So that’s the parallel that I draw. Did I say prepared and people in parallel all? Yeah, I did all those P’s all together. But the thing is is that’s the that’s the thing the connectivity that I have with football this day and why. To me, it just encapsulates so much of uh of my why and what I do. And it’s my favorite day of the year because you’re sitting there preparing stuff for people that are probably somewhere asleep. and uh it it’s a fun day. So, what I’ve done today to have a little bit of uh fun with this is I’m going to give you in both football and in food, my main course, my favorite side, my unheralded dish and what I want you to totally keep off my plate. Let’s start right there. I don’t want no cranberry sauce. I know it’s tradition and it’s pretty and I remember reading those little books and looking at those stories in elementary school about the pilgrims and cranberry sauce. That’s all right. Y’all can keep it over there. Uh, keep the cranberry sauce. I do not want it. I don’t want it touching anything. I don’t want cranberry sauce. So, my football cranberry sauce is hanging heads. When things get bad for the Jaguars, I do not want to see bad body language. And I think we’ve seen that right now with those wide receivers and how they talk about how Jacobe Myers has changed that outlook. I don’t want to see hanging heads. I don’t want to see body language cuz the Jaguars are enough of a roller coaster that you’re going to have to respond. You are going to have to uh move on to the next play. You’re going to have to let it rip. And that’s one thing that I can say that Trevor Lawrence has improved on. When he makes a mistake, he doesn’t continue to make them. He’ll make them. He still makes those big bad ugly mistakes, right? But the thing is is he gets over it just like that. And we we got to get out of here and get a win, man. Come on. Let’s go. So, keep that off my plate. And the reason why I say keep is because it hasn’t been on there. The Jaguars have done a real good job. And I think that alignment that I talked about has a lot to do with it. My unheralded dish um is dressing. I think out of all the things that I go back for seconds for, it’s dressing. The little chunks of meat in it and the bell peppers and the and and and the the the gravy. Oh man, it it that’s probably the first thing I double dip on. So, my unheralded dish here is Parker Washington. I’m gonna keep going. He’s not the star of the show, but he might be the best thing on that plate every single Sunday. Parker Washington is is the dude. He has been that guy. And I want I’m I’m going to tell you right now, we want us some more Parker Washington. So, keep that up, Jaguars. Uh my favorite side is macaroni and cheese. And I don’t care if anybody doesn’t think macaroni and cheese is a I heard Mark Mark Lamont Hill say that it’s nothing but cheese and noodles. And I’m like, “Y’all ain’t had it right. Macaroni and cheese is not cheese and noodle. Anybody that makes it correctly understands that the the the noodles is just they they just have to be there. Everything else that you do to that cheese sauce and the type of cheese that you choose makes the difference. And my guy for that is Trayvon Walker because if he’s missing, they are not the same. If I don’t have mac and cheese on my plate, the plate just doesn’t have the same pop. And I think he is the macaroni and cheese of this team. He is a difference maker. And he is one of the reasons I believe y’all can be optimistic because he’s going to at some point be 100% him and Jordan Lewis. Jordan Lewis was almost my mac and cheese for this because they’re going to be back and they’re going to be back for the stretch run. So the version of the Jaguars that you’ve liked for the most part over the last 12 quarters of football, yeah, they still got another dish that’s cooking and it’s Trayvon Walker. So, you’re going to see him back. My main course is the one that a lot of people say they don’t like and are always looking for alternatives because I am convinced that people don’t know how to cook this too. And that’s turkey. I’m sorry. I am the turkey guy. I’m the designate. I did it and my family said, “Nope, nobody else cooking turkey except daddy.” Because he always gets it right. as the juiciest thing that I can ever make is is a turkey because of the way that I do it. I hit me up. I’ll tell you personally how to how to make sure your turkey is good. It’s too late this year. You got to start a little bit early with that. And so my main course is people it’s something that it’s polarizing. Some people don’t like it. Some people look to try to replace it. You know, my turkey on my dish from a football perspective is Trevor Lawards. He’s the main course. Whether y’all want to admit it or not, he is. And this team, when we say the Jack, the Trevor Lawrence experience, it defines this team. His play, good and bad, as long as it ends up in a win. And I, this is what I mean about gritty Trevor. Gritty Trevor Lawrence from Middle. Sometimes it just has to play out this way, man. This is what I said to somebody that asked me earlier this week. Did didn’t you did you really say the same thing Olowski said about Trevor being inconsistent? Yeah, that’s what I’ve been saying. But I’ve been also saying that I didn’t want to get rid of him. I said, “Look, you either need to accept this was what it is and this ain’t what you thought it was. This ain’t Pton Manning. This ain’t this ain’t Tom Brady. This something This is Trevor Lawrence. This is his journey. This is a whole different journey. And you either got to embrace it, but that’s why it’s important to not have cranberry sauce. You can’t have those heads hanging. The reason why you can’t have those heads hanging is because he’s going to take you on a ride. And if you ain’t ready to overcome it and improve and get past those mistakes, then you’re going to be in for a huge, huge disappointment. Why is it so important that this team does not get caught slipping? Can’t get caught slipping, man. Remember, you got to get up Friday, so don’t eat too much Thursday. That’s going to keep you down and and and and and keep you in the bed when you got to get up and get to moving. Don’t get caught slipping. I’ll talk about that in just a second here on Locked on Jaguars. All right, today’s show sponsored and brought to you by our friends over at FanDuel. So head to fanduel.com to sign up and play your game with FanDuel, the official sports betting partner of the NBA. All right, man. Third and final segment here on my favorite day of the year, the day before Thanksgiving. Uh, I am Tony Wiggins, the host of the Locked On Jaguars podcast that is a part of the Locked On podcast network. That is the number one sports podcast network and we are glad that you make us your team every day. All right. Um, don’t get caught slipping. Here’s the reality. We can be happy about this year. We can be uh not satisfied, never satisfied, not feeling that you arrived. But you can feel good about where the Jaguars are. Made a lot of changes. Had a lot of stuff to overcome. They are not getting the production from the people. I mentioned Trayvon because of injury. Brian Thomas Jr. because of injury and a slump. Travis Hunter because of his unfortunate injury right as he was turning the corner to really really start showing up for this team. Jordan Lewis the biggest free agent signing. they over the last month or so they they haven’t really gotten anything from those guys because those guys haven’t been available and they’re seven and four and they could have been nine and two. So I’m grateful and I’m thankful that we’re in this position but that does not mean that it doesn’t come with a hate that it doesn’t come with criticism that it doesn’t come with things that uh might go wrong and it’s the same as Thanksgiving. You’re gonna eat all that food and everybody gonna be married, but then you got to wake up Friday and Saturday and you got to get you got to get back to it and and and life doesn’t wait for anybody. You cannot, if you’re the Jacksonville Jaguars, rest on the fact that you’re 74 and you’re happy to be here because your guys uh a lot of guys that you thought were going to help you win aren’t here. No, because if you do that, life will slap you in the face. And there’s no slap that’s worse than a slap from the Tennessee Titans. We know that historically here in Jacksonville that uh they have been what I call the ingrown toenail for the Jaguars organization for a long time. And it’s going to be that way until it ain’t. That’s just what it is. And and I’m not even saying that they they’ve beaten the Jaguars an astronomical amount of times over the last 10 years. It’s just that when they did beat the Jaguars, it meant something. So, I’m going to always sit here and talk about them the way that I do. I don’t like them. And I know a lot of y’all don’t. I like certain people like Tyler Rolling, but I don’t like Titans. And I normally don’t take fandom over the top, but the reason why I’m doing it today is because the Titans are the worst team in the National Football League. You cannot allow them to get in your way. You just can’t. So, don’t look down at your competition. Don’t get overly tensed up about your competition. This is why I say it’s me versus me. The Jaguars, you have to have a standard that you play for and with every single week. Your competition is in the mirror. I know you got matchups and all of this stuff, but no, you ain’t got no matchups that’s going to scare you this week. This is why these are the games why your standard and who you are have to matter. It’s games like this. It’s games like the one in Cincinnati earlier this year. It’s the fourth quarter in Houston. Your standard has to be where you just going to come out and win every single minute of every single quarter and play every game the best you can play. And things are going to happen, but things should not happen against the Tennessee Titans that allow you to lose this game. This one or the next one you got to play. But we going to focus on this one right now. I want them to beat the the Tennessee Titans into submission. I want them to take the approach that once they get into that stadium, whatever it’s called, Nissan or whoever, that they get into that stadium, I want the Jaguars to feel like they’re locking the Titans and those fans into that stadium, they’re going to beat the snot out of them and they ain’t going to let them leave until the Jaguars say, “Okay, y’all can go home now.” That’s the approach that I want them to take. And I want them to get on that plane. And I know last week I said just go to Arizona, get on the plane and come home, man. Just get the W. Get on the plane. And matter of fact, when the game was over, my mom said she cracked up when I said get on a plane. I hurry up and get on a plane before they throw another flag before they call roughing a pass on somebody. Just get on the plane. Don’t shake nobody’s hand. Just leave if you get the win. This one I want y’all to savor it a little bit. I want you to walk off their field real slow. I want you to punch them. And they say, “Well, you punching them while they’re down.” That’s exactly what we’re doing. We going to punch them while they’re down. That’s how I feel about the Titans. I don’t care that they only won one game and that they’re rebuilding and they don’t have a coach and their stadium is is a is is is is ugly. I don’t care. Beat them like they came to your house and stole your your turkey before anybody got a chance to carve it. I want you to stomp and beat the Titans so bad. It’s because they’re the Titans and you’re the Jaguars. And we remember they say remember the Titans. Yeah. We remember what y’all did Eddie George and Yek and the late great Steve McNair and Jeff Fischer. See, just me mentioning those people’s names gets under your skin and makes your skin crawl. And that’s why you need to slap fire out of everybody that’s wearing that light and dark blue uh with the little red trim. slap fire at them because they had the nerve to wear the Houston Oilers jerseys. That that’s enough for you to want to kick them across the street a couple of times if you’re Jacksonville. So enjoy your turkey day, but I want the Titans to win. And you said, “Man, how could you start the show off talking so nice about football and family and food and now you talking about just beating somebody in submission?” Because that’s the game. That’s what we do. The game is the game. Y’all enjoy this day. People like me, they put a lot into it, man. Thank y’all for allowing me to be a little transparent and emotional on a day that means so much to me. It’s my favorite day of the year. U shout out to everybody that’s preparing food. Traveling, if you’re traveling to Nashville or just to go and be around your family, make sure uh that you do that safely, arrive safely, rejoice, and and be happy that the Jaguars are in this position. like not satisfied because we have not arrived, but I’m very very grateful uh to be able to do this for a living and be able to talk to fans each and every day about football. Just imagine I’m 56 years old. I started watching football when I was six and I had to explain it to my to my grandmother and my mother just for the right to be able to watch it on that one TV we had in the house. And now I sit here as a 56 year old man and I get paid to talk football with y’all every day. Whether we agree or disagree, it is still I am still living the dream and I am eternally grateful for you. I do not take you for granted here. We don’t take you for granted at all here on the Locked on Podcast Network. We appreciate you and these 29 minutes that we spent together today, they meant an awful lot to me. So, thank you very much. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone and enjoy.

Jacksonville Jaguars fans celebrate Thanksgiving Eve as Tony Wiggins highlights the power of team alignment, Trevor Lawrence’s unpredictable journey, and why Parker Washington is emerging as the unsung hero. Is the Jaguars’ current approach enough to dominate, or will bad body language and overlooked details derail their playoff hopes?

Tony Wiggins draws connections between family, food, and football, recognizing Travon Walker as the “macaroni and cheese” that completes the defense, while warning against complacency—especially with a gritty matchup against the struggling Tennessee Titans ahead. Key topics include stadium renovations, player injuries, under-the-radar contributors, and how the Jaguars must keep their standard high to avoid a surprise defeat. Thanksgiving may be about gratitude, but for Jacksonville, the real feast could come on the field.

  1. Orlavsky is one to talk. He ran out of the back of the end zone for a safety. I'm not taking any merits from some national media talking head saying a QB is trash . When orlavsky sucked himself . I mean wasn't he the lions QB the season before they drafted Stafford. He was straight up cheeks.

  2. There’s just something different about the Locker Room this Season! Grit and Grind!!!

    Lawrence: “I’m not playing scared!!!”

Coen: “I’m not apologizing for winning!!!”

    LOVE IT!!!
