Spurs Jeremy Sochan Trade?
What’s going on everyone? So, I think the San Antonio Spurs are going to have to trade Jeremy Sohan. Um, nothing against Jeremy Soan. I’ve talked about it before. Anytime I talk about him, right? I get two camps. People are like, “Trade him for a bag of chips. He’s trash.” And then I get the other camp that’s like, “He’s the best player in the league. Move over Tim Duncan, right? Like Jeremy Sohan is coming to take over the league.” And again, I like Jeremy So, he’s that sort of Swiss Army knife type of guy that you can slot in and he can kind of be a jack of all trades, right? defensively is kind of like the one thing he does great, right? And he’s a guy that, you know, can really fill up a stat sheet in a lot of ways, right? Like you look like if you’re not watching the games and you don’t really watch him play very much and you just look at his box score, you’re like, dude, the guy like fills up the stat sheet. I mean, even in the last game against like Atlanta, look at it. He gave you like 85 and five and it’s like, you know, but again, like he’s not a starter. He there’s real genuine questions of will he ever truly be a starter. His three-point shot still isn’t reliable enough. You know, he’s he’s somebody that like outside of the defense, right? Like what does he do that’s great? Like what are the things that you look at and go, man? Like yes, the defensive versatility is really nice. Don’t get me wrong, and that’s a huge, you know, kind of piece for him, but you can find good defensive players that do other things. And like if Jeremy So was willing to do four years, even like 48 million, say 12 million a year, and play a bench role, no problem. Sure, keep him, right? Cuz he’d be good. He’s cheap enough. He could be that utility guy for you play in a pinch. But from at least the reports, he wants 18 to 20 million plus. If he can get more, he’s going to get more. And you know, how long is he going to be okay with coming off the bench? And you know, when we when we actually had guys healthy, right? He was play I mean, there were games where he was playing four minutes, right? It’s cuz again, it’s like you it’s hard to keep him out there. Yes, he his defense is versatile. Yeah, he can help rebound and do things, but like, you know, and yes, again, he can fill up a stat sheet, but it’s like you need more than him just filling up a stat sheet. You need his ability to knock down the open three and and slot in comfortably alongside Wimby or Luke Cornet or whomever, right? And he saw him kind of be the odd man out in a lot of ways when we were fully out there. And then it’s like, okay, Wimy’s out. You’re going to get more opportunities. You’re going to get more minutes, which he has. He’s averaging, I think it’s like 22 minutes roughly. He’s like 21 and some change, but about 22 minutes a game since Wimby’s gone down the last few games. And like again, he hasn’t been bad. He’s been solid, but like, you know, he’s not the new CBA changed a lot, right? Because you can’t just, you know, if this was the old CBA, like, sure, you could pay Sohan and then still pay everybody else and then just get into the the tax, right? Especially if the team’s good enough and, you know, they look really good, they’re winning games, all of that. And but it’s like Jeremy Sohan, it’s not like man Sohan has been a huge component to their success, right? Like they’ve won without him this year. They like I again like I like if you took Jeremy Sohan off this team, right? Say everyone’s healthy, right? Obviously with Wimi right now, you kind of need the bodies, right? But like especially at the four, you’re already kind of thin at the four. But now, if you took Jeremy Sohan off this team, are you like, “Man, what a mistake. Spurs are just, well, I don’t know how they’re going to recover, right?” No, you’re just like, they’re probably just as good, if not as good, right? Because now they don’t have to find minutes for him, right? Like, it may be better, right? Like, and Spurs need a clearcut starting four. Really, they need a three and a four, right? cuz Julian Champagne, he’s been great, but like to me, he’s more of that rotation wing. Uh Harrison Barnes has been all reliable for this team, but you know, again, more of a rotation wing. Um you know, if Harrison Barnes and Julian Champagne are coming off your bench, you’re probably one of the better teams, if not the best teams in all of basketball, right? Like, so if you could get, you know, just example like Herb Jones and Trey Murphy, right? And trade Jeremy Sohan and whatever else, right? Now, I think you might be one of the best teams if not the best team in all of basketball, right? Like the problem is like what is Sohan’s trade value. How many team like you he’s young enough to where there’s still a lot of upside and potential, right? And before you got Darren Fox and all this other stuff, it was like, okay, like, you know, we’re we’re a couple years away. like you can kind of let him develop, but you at some point you’re going to want to, especially with as good as the Spurs have been this year, you want to start to kind of expedite things and you’re going to have to start making some tough calls and tough decisions, right? So, one, Jeremy Sohan is so cheap, it’s hard to trade him right now to get like real value. So, you might be better off waiting till the off season and then doing a sign-in trade. you know, finding a team that’s willing to pay him whatever 15 million a year and he wants to go there and he can be more of a focal point and then you can go and make that trade and then get whatever you get. But you need to find a team that values him, that sees him as a piece, that is willing to give up and pony up the necessary assets to justify. But the problem is is like if he wants 20 plus million, it’s tough for the SP cuz Spur like if you’re the Spurs, you can’t pay him that. like he can’t because you’re gonna have to give Victor Womenyama his new extension in the offseason, right? that won’t kick into the follow year, but still like you’re going to give him a new extension and then the next year you have to give Castle and the next year it’s Dylan Harper and Carter Bryant and all that like you’re not going to be able to pay everybody especially with the new CBA and you know like let’s say you you are willing to pay him the 20 million you’re then that means you’re paying him 20 million in the hopes that he can become the guy that you want and need at the starting four because that’s what you’d be looking for him to do. I don’t know if he’s the answer at the starting four. don’t like you know and he might never be you know it’s not all his fault like I want to be very clear like the Spurs didn’t really do him very many favors if we’re being honest like if we’re being fair to Sohan like they it’s hard to really find your footing and find a proper role when your role is different every night and every year right like he they did the point forward experiment where he was essentially your point guard and that was a disaster and then you know He’s saw it in and he’s playing this position and he’s playing this role and this is a small ball center and then he’s like and it’s just you he needs to find a team that identifies and basically goes this is your role this is what you’re doing this is how you’re playing right but the attributes that he’s best at and things that he’s doing right and and and kind of like operating him as like that that swingman kind of guy like I just don’t think the Spur like I just think the Spurs could do better and you’re better off kind of cashing in while you can to go do that. Again, I don’t hate Jeremy. So, and it wouldn’t shock me if he went to the right team, the right situation, the right environment, and just thrived and everyone’s like, “Wow, I can’t believe like that was a well, what were the Spurs thinking?” Like, that wouldn’t surprise me. But again, like that doesn’t mean that that’s going to happen for the Spurs. There’s a lot of guys that are just, you know, they’re just in the wrong situation. And I just think Jeremy Sohan is in the wrong situation. And you don’t have another year or two to figure it out. You don’t have another year or two to to see if he can kind of become that guy that you need because you have to pay him, right? So again, if he’s willing to take 10 million, 12 million a year, then sure, keep him, right? And then figure it out later on down the road. That gives you an asset that you can trade. The San Antonio Spurs Jeremy Sochan just isnt cutting it for the Spurs and with Victor Wembanyama down youd think Sochan would have a bigger impact. Sochan feels like the odd man out and the days with the Spurs coming to an end.

He’s a great slasher if he has a great playmaker next to him. We saw it last season with CP3 he kept getting him good looks at the basket. You can even look at his numbers he was up there on the pick & rolls.
But yeah I agree his 3 point shot is still shaky so he still leaves a lot of room for improvement on that end.
Harper is probably better at getting Sochan open looks at the basket than Fox.
What’s a team going to give up for him?? Can’t imagine anyone outside spurs values him highly
$18m per year?????? For 7pt and 4rb. No team is giving him 18-20m and definitely no one is trading assets for the right to do it (see kuminga)
I don't think that Sochan will be a NBA starter one day. If he is staying a bench player, you cannot pay him more than 8M$ per year (he is less valuable than Kornet who is making 11M$ per season).
A contract of 24M$ over 3 years would be fair for such a player.
If he still wants more than this amount, I think that it would wise to trade him before the trade deadline (to avoid a bad team to propose him a midlevel exception contract this summer and lose him for nothing).
Try a sign&trade this summer is also a risk to lose him for nothing !
D fox be taking shots when it's 21 seconds on the shot clock. He gotta call plays
I’m convinced you don’t like the team, your wanting everyone traded 😂😂 next you’ll have a title Wemby? Trade?
The GM Bryant Wright
Doing his best to construct a competitive team!
But spurs fans wanted to trade those pieces!
Just one or two losses!
Some fans react like the season is failure
! Please Give the players a chance to bounce back!
Vassell and Sochan for Duren.
I've generally liked your takes, and maybe you really are getting only two polar sides (he's the best, he's trash), but it's pretty clear those poles are wrong. He's the 2nd best defender on the team (opposing star fg% tanks when Sochan defends against them), his 3% is better (not a huge sample so far, but why blame him for that?), and he's clearly the team's enforcer (he stepped in when Draymond got in Wemby's face). He cuts well. Perhaps if he demands too much I agree, but his willingness to do what's necessary and not complain makes him pretty valuable. Too many people just look at stat lines.
Offer 10-12m $/year, if rejects trade
