We got the Charlotte Hornets and the New York Knicks on Wednesday night. We got the Charlotte Hornets at 4-13 on the year. 8-9 against the number. They’ve lost six straight after a 113 110 loss to Atlanta. While New York comes in 10-6 on the year, 9-7 against the number after a 113 100 win over Brooklyn for their first road cover of the season. They are 2-5 straight up on the road though. And now the New York Knicks go into Charlotte, you know, winning seven of their last 10 games. And, you know, they’ve split the first four games of this road trip. This is the final game with a five-game road trip. And, you know, New York has been able to, you know, play some some tough teams. They they, you know, beat they lost to Orlando. They lost by two to Miami, but they’ve also been able to beat up on some inferior teams like Dallas and Brooklyn. The win over Dallas was their first road win of the season. And now they go to Charlotte to take on a Hornets team that on the surface when you just look at their win loss record is inferior. But you look at just the health that Charlotte’s had this season, the health issues that they’ve had in terms of keeping guys on the floor and they’re still banged up and they still got guys that are missing. You know, Josh Green’s out with a shoulder injury. Uh Grant Williams is still recovering from his knee surgery. Pat Canotton’s out for this game. But, you know, there’s still some solid pieces there. And for me, the most important thing for the Charlotte Hornets is that you don’t have LaMelo Ball or Brandon Miller on the injury report. And that’s the biggest thing for me is that that’s at least who I’ve been seeing. You know, we saw that Miller and and Ball missed the game against the Hawks because of rest, but I don’t see them popping up on the official NBA injury reports. So, that’s at least some good news. And, you know, even in their absence, you were able to see guys like Conppel step up with 28 points. Colin Ston had 22. Miles Bridges had 21. And when you throw in, you know, Miller and Balls, this still makes a very formidable Charlotte lineup that if they can work out whatever issues they have, whether it’s LaMelo Ball, you know, having actual issues off the court with the team or not, you know, whatever the the the noise is, whatever the rumor is, if it’s true or not, this is a team that if they stay together and get that cohesion going long term, they could be a team that’s kind of like what I feel are the Detroit Pistons right now. a young team that built from the ground up and can still, you know, compete and maybe get to that level one of these days. But I think for right now, I’m still willing to take a shot on the Charlotte Hornets at home here because the New York Knicks, you know, as much as I like what the New York Knicks have done, I still can’t forget the fact that they were winless on the road before the game against Dallas and even then the win over Dallas. They still only won by two points. Charlotte has had a tendency this season to play up to certain teams, especially when it’s turn when it comes to covering the point spread. I mean, they were catching seven and a half against a red-hot Toronto team on the road in Toronto where Toronto’s played their best basketball. They covered. They almost won that game outright. You know, it took two blocks in the last, you know, 30 seconds of that game for Toronto to win. You know, they went toe-to-toe with an Atlanta team that’s playing fairly well. You know, almost won that game and lost by three, getting eight points. They covered at home against OKC catching 17, kept it respectable, lost by 13. So, I think Charlotte’s one of those teams that’s going to be, you know, maybe not great on the surface, but they’re going to be feisty and they’re going to be a scrappy underdog, and I think that they can be a scrappy dog here.
