I’m tempted to think this is photoshop or AI…I’d love to get Imai and think we have a legit shot at him, but that can’t be real, can it?
It’s not only a matter of where he wants to play. This isn’t a Sasaki situation where he’s going to make league minimum and can be signed with international bonus pool money.
He’s posted, and will get a large contract. Unfortunately, the Padres don’t have the money for him, unless ownership wants to go well over the luxury tax (highly doubtful).
Now the big question is do we shoot for murakami or imai? Murakami has a heaven high ceiling but a scary floor. Imai is most likely elite and just slightly worse than Yamamoto.

Yeah Sasaki was wearing Padre gear for years before signing in LA. Even if it isn’t Photoshop, it means nothing unfortunately.
