Today is November 26th. Tomorrow is Thanksgiving.

Josh Smoker turns 37 today! The lefty reliever was drafted in the first round of the 2007 draft by the Nationals. He debuted with the Mets in 2016 and pitched for the Mets in 2017, with the Pirates and Tigers in 2018. He pitched for AAA Oklahoma City in 2019 as well as the York Revolution in the Atlantic League before retiring.

Brian Schneider turns 49 today! The lefty catcher played from 2000 to 2012, playing from 2000 to 2007 with the Expos/Nationals. On November 30, 2007, the Nationals traded Schneider and Ryan Church to the Mets for Lastings Milledge. Schneider spent 2008 and 2009 with the Mets and had his face on a bottle of wine for charity. He spent the last three years of his career with the Phillies. After his retirement as a player, he came back to the Mets as the quality control coach for the Mets from 2020 to 2021.

Richie Hebner turns 78 today! The infielder played in the majors from 1968 to 1985, playing briefly for the 1979 Mets, coming over in a March 1979 trade from the Phillies. Nobody who saw the 1979 Mets will forget it but they wish they had. The Mets traded him a few months later to the Tigers for Phil Mankowski and Jerry Morales. In the off-season he worked as a gravedigger at a cemetery managed by his father.

The Mets are teaming up with New York Cares for their 19th Annual Coat Drive presented by your local Toyota dealers on Wednesday, December 10, from 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. at the Mets Team Store at Citi Field. 1. I want to say, love or hate the Nimmo trade, it’s been a lot of fun talking baseball with you all over the past few days and reading all the back & forth about what might be next, what needs to be done, etc.

I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving.

  2. If the reports about teams not wanting to give significant term to Tucker are true, I think there’s a vacuum for the Mets to take advantage of.

If they do sign Tucker though, I wonder what would happen with the 1B/DH slots since I don’t assume Pete is back. Someone like O’Hearn would slot in pretty well flexing between both spots, but I wonder who would soak the extra ABs.

  3. Is there any world where we get Tucker but also either resign Pete or sign Cody Bellinger? Or is that just too many years and too much money even for Steve Cohen?

  4. I feel like I’m in the minority for not wanting to sign Kyle Tucker. He’s a great player but has a checkered injury history, somewhat concerning peripherals (exit velo and swing speed), and I don’t think the term/dollars he is looking for match the talent. 10/400+ just feels like a lot of money for someone that I don’t think is elite. If he was looking for half that, I would be asking where to sign but for 10 years I’m worried about how he will age.

I’m all in on Fernando Tatis Jr if the Padres are selling though

  5. I took years off of MLB. I chose Mets as my team this year to start my fandom over with. Tell me everything I need to know!

  6. Every time I get an MLB app notification I get nervous to look at it but it’s like “What the Nimmo trade means for the Mets” or whatever

  7. Some of you want Bellinger, some of you want Tucker, I’m sure there’s at least one sicko who wants Conforto back

But *I’m* the sicko who wants Jarred Kelenic. Stick that boy in a room with Jeff Albert for a couple months and give him the (expedited) development he never got

    (Mostly joking)

  8. My guess, I don’t think Tucker comes because going through all this to move Nimmo to create roster flexibility & increased defense.. is Tucker not a lot of the same situation as Nimmo a few years younger? His defense is declining & although different injuries than Nimmo, he’s always got something.

Bellinger I don’t know if win bidding war, but makes a lot more sense if looking at the big FAs to dream about

  9. I’ve been watching old games on YouTube in order to get my baseball fix and man, David Wright was so damn good in 06, 07, and 08. I miss baseball. LFGM.
