POST-RAW | Connor McDavid 11.25.25
There were maybe some positive signs towards the end of that trip, Connor. How do you kind of account for what showed up in that first period? Not good. Yeah, I don’t know. I don’t know. I don’t have many answers for you here tonight. Um, yeah, I don’t uh I don’t know. I don’t have any answers, as I said. So, big picture defensively is something you guys have, you know, been struggling with this year more than in previous years. Where how concerning is it that the D side of the game is as far off as it is right now? I think it stems from the whole thing. You know, we’re not good enough with the puck. Um, and you know, it’s leading to sustained, you know, time in our Dzone. Um, yeah, it’s the whole thing, you know. Um, we’re not getting up the ice, not for checking pucks back and, uh, we’re playing too much in the Dzone. You know, there’s not many Dzone systems that hold up after, you know, 30, 40 a minute in your Dzone. You know, it’s tough to defend. It’s It’s hard to measure maybe, but I guess you’ve felt it with yourself and with teammates over the years. What’s the gap between where you guys are now and when you feel confident? Um, yeah, that’s a, you know, that’s a good question. I mean, uh, obviously not very good tonight. You know, the gap seems pretty far tonight, but, um, yeah, I don’t know. I I don’t know. I You’re asking me to measure the gap. I don’t know what the gap is. Um, between us playing our best and where we’re at right now. It’s obviously pretty far. So, there’s games where you’re maybe not going to have it and need to figure out ways to get back into games. There seems to be a lot of nights this year, Connor, where your group is struggling to figure out how to re-engage in games. Are you sensing that? And why? Well, yeah. Yeah. You know, there’s definitely been two significant ones where we’ve let it get away on us. Um, both here on home ice, both unacceptable. So, um, you know, um, yeah, have to find a way to generate our own momentum, our own energy, our own, um, and find a way to get ourselves going. Your goalending comes under a lot of flack. I just wonder what you think about that, especially like tonight. Um, I really feel like goending is a is a team thing. um tough for goalies to look good. Um when the group in front of them is not playing well, you know, I don’t really care who it is, when the team in front of them is is not playing up to their standards, then tough for a goalie to look good. Felt bad for both of them tonight. I know. Sorry. Is this eroding the team’s confidence in its ability to turn this thing around? The group still got lots of confidence, right? Um we still got we still got confidence. I mean, uh I know it doesn’t seem like it, but there’s still an overarching belief that u you know, we’ll figure it out. Um obviously doesn’t look that way right now, but we at least I still feel it. Um so Connor, I know I mean you and Leon both take a lot of responsibility to push things offensively and you know a team game in the right direction. Where are you at with your game here recently and what are you what are you looking for? Uh yeah, I could definitely be better. Um certainly be better.

Even Calgary beat Dallas the other night. There's the difference when you got a goalie that can stop the puck and one that can't.
Dude they aren’t playing like a team they are playing as individuals trying to score it’s not going to work as proved by the fact it hasn’t worked.
I feel so bad for him man.
We all want him to win the cup here, but Bowman's moves have not worked out.
Knob hasnt been able to come up with a coaching solution. Its hard to watch, man.
It's funny (completely sad) when after a game like that, Connor has a plethora of mics jammed in his grill with the expectancy from the monkeys to get some sort of 'satisfying' deep break down of … ' UGHHHH WHAT HAPPENED TONIGHT'
I'm surprised he just didn't get 5 mins for fighting.
He's tired.
The joy in his play is fading. He needs new blood.
.
Might have to flush this season and focus on signing a better supporting case for next season if this continues. 97 wants to win with the Oilers and it will happen , just not this season perhaps. But hey , ya never know when this team can flip the switch , anything can happen
Stars 8 mcjesus/scumsaitil 3 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
What goalie do they trade for? No team is going to give up a high level goalie.
Connor is suffering needlessly…This is a culmination of losing two Stanley Cup Final series now taking a severe toll on him…Get outta Edmonton Connor as soon as you can…
People paid to go to this game? Wow
It's comical that Oilers fans really thought they were going back to the SCF after the last 2 years and the re-signing of McJesus. "If" the Oilers make the playoffs, they are going to get run over by Colorado, Dallas or Vegas…take your pick. They had their little run, now its over.
No way he's in Edmonton after his contract unless something major changes.
Gg
Go Stars
They are exhausted. Hopefully after the rest they are better
I think Bowman has dropped the ball on this organization, specifically Draisidl and McDavid. Bouchard looks LOST in his own end, goaltending needs to be addressed…
HAY EDMONTON !!!!!!! your whole Defense is FUKED ! Usually it is NURSE now Ekholm / Out of position never looking around PLUS 2 DEFENSE BEHIND THE NET AT ONE TIME , COME ON COACH ! DO SOMETHING …. NOW THE GOALIE'S , IDEA , MAKE THE PUCK AS BIG AS A BEACH BALL , TRY THAT !!!!! ALWAYS NEXT YEAR !!!!!!!
Trash team
Need goaltending and a big D man
They needed to fix defense and goaltending over the summer, all they did was replace veteran forwards with untested newbies, big mistake.
When you use by lettting in 8 then you got no answer !!??
At some point, management needs to put its feet down and say enough is enough. Y'all want to keep the goalies, say that it's a team thing… Well at this point they're playing like they want to win and time is running short. So perhaps a goalie shake up is what's needed. Clattenburg did his job. He brought energy, made a goal and the rest of the team just stood by.
Stan Bowman should be fired.
Changing goalies will do nothing …….this no systems coach has to go! If this is his new system, no thanks!
😪😪😭😭😭😭😭
A little burned out from two long regular seasons and two long playoff seasons in a row perhaps, both mentally and physically.
D zone system?? Its peewee hockey in the Dzone everybody watches the guy with puck and tries to chase it leaving everyone else wide open!! Id be embarrased making the kind of money these boys make and playing no better than a bunch of beer leagues plugs!!
Well , McDavid is not wrong , but that first goal by Dallas is inexcusable. Skinner needs to learn how to use his stick to challenge the cross pass . Instead he watches the puck go from side to side like a kitten watches a ball of yarn mesmerized and confused.
Oh shut up already! Goaltending is not a team thing. When a goalie sucks, he just sucks. If the team sucks and the goalie is good you’ll get at least 15 saves before a goalie goes in. Skinner lets in 50% of shots. He plain sucks
Hahahahaha! eats popcorn Ahahahaha! popcorn bits fly out of mouth while laughing
See yall at…the…play……offs???
McDavid was playing his part the rest of the team didn’t do f&$king s$&.
Edmonton never had a goalie
