POSTGAME SOUND: ORLANDO MAGIC VS. PHILADEPHIA 76ERS | COACH MOSE & ANTHONY BLACK

Would you have liked to have seen better composure? I’m what I’m going to do right now is I’m going to say what a great job our team did defensively. That’s what I’d like to focus on. Um yes, obviously there are times that we have to be better. We say fell into the same situation against Golden State. Um but the fact that they’re sticking up for each other as they step on the floor, no matter what it no matter what happens, that’s what we ask our guys to do. Um, and again, I’m proud of their effort, their energy, and their defensive focus. What helped you guys take control? I think it was our defense. We decided to turn up a defense on a different level, and it got us some easy baskets, easy runouts. You know, they were mixing the defenses up, uh, trying to stall us out a little bit, and I think our guys did a very good job of keeping their their their focus on what we needed to do offensively, sharing it, moving it, playing faster after getting our stops. What most impressed you about Anthony Black’s performance tonight and just like the aggression he’s been showing recently? I think that’s you said it right there, his aggression. Uh, but what I’m most proud of is his ability to do it on both ends. Uh, he guarded between he and Jaylen guarding Maxi all night long, making it being disruptive, picking up full court, and then being able to do it on the other end. I think that’s what we’ve asked him to do and how we need him to be night in and night out. And that he showed that tonight. Was just the 11th time you came to score 120 plus points. You guys just did that. last year. It’s only game 19, so I guess it’s still How gratifying is it for you as a coach to see you what you put in play to work? Well, I I really just think it’s it’s we talk about the running game, but more than anything, we talk about our defense. Our defense was able to sit down and get stops to be able to convert on the other end of the floor. And then we shared the basketball. I mean, you said 38 assists. Our ability just to trust the pass, trust the open man, the right man gets the gets the ball. And I think that’s what’s so good about our guys that we guarded and then we were able to share it and move it and play the right way. When AB is on his end, what do you notice about him? There’s an level of aggression about him. There’s a confidence. Uh he has that swagger. You saw the one down in transition where he attacks the lane, gets the dunk over the top. Just that ability to get downhill and attack the the lane and the basket that way is so big for him. And then stepping into his shots with confidence. And I’ll go back to it though. His ability to guard defensively and then be able to push, you know, push the pace is just something special for him and that’s what we need from him. We’ve seen it several times this season. The way this group has responded after a loss that maybe you’re still proud of in that moment. I know you talked about it after Sunday’s game, but what does that say about this team’s mentality overall and the way they’re they’re working right now? I really just think there’s a resiliency about the group. Uh never too high, never too low. uh they keep they keep each other tight in the locker room about what what we need to focus on uh not listening to the noise just but being able to focus on what we need to do accomplish and following our process you know I think that’s the biggest piece is can we stay with our process of how we want to play night in and night out I really think it’s just it goes back to us be our ability to get stops and then convert on the other end I think we have gotten out in transition a lot more this year but it is because we’ve gotten stops and we’ve been able to convert those things and our guys are just continuing to trust the pass and I’m going to keep laying back to our defense is creating so much offense and our guys are trusting it because they trust each other. How uh how do you explain the explosion in three-point shooting percentage over the last six that you’re in? I mean, I really I really do believe when you get the stops, you get out and run, you get early, easy basket, it changes the way deep teams defend you, and so now they’re collapsing a little earlier. So, you’re finding a lot more feet set threes because you’re out in transition. And again, our guys are just continuing to trust the pass, trust each other, and when you’re open, you let it rip. And you know, if you’re not, you move it on. you attack the basket and put two on the ball and create a problem for someone else. Obviously, Paulo is incredible talent, great player who has been through your team, but how do you maintain momentum when you reintegrate someone who has the ball as much as his hands and is trying to get back into playing shape? I think you just continue to, you know, he’s watching it. He’s looking at it. He’s been, you know, the number one guy talking about how we’ve been defending, how we’ve been getting out and running, and that’s allows him to get easier baskets just the same. So, I think as we continue to defend the right way, we continue to get stops, we’re able to get out and run to get easy baskets for everyone. Thank you. Thank you all. And what’s up? Just another dull night in the NBA. Nothing happened. Nothing crazy. Nothing too crazy. Yeah. No offense, no nothing. No, we scored 144 last night. As I said, no nothing. Probably no defense. What helped you get into a rhythm? Uh, I think just being aggressive, uh, taking risks. You know, I saw a couple shots that, uh, I might get looked at sideways for, but just being aggressive, taking risks, trusting myself. We saw you kind of talking a little bit out there. Saw the chippiness. You said at the aggression, but how much fun was tonight? Uh, a lot of fun. You know, uh, I feel like when I just get uh, locked into the game and just having fun, talking, I think that’s when I play my best. And I think everybody else uh, the same can go for them. It kind of raises our level, raised our intensity. So, I think tonight was a good job of us being, you know, tough and intense out there. What’s it like to see your teammates respond to you, the whole bench, come out to you when you have that you had a three in the right corner there? Oh, yeah. I mean, it’s just it’s love. Uh, you know, these dudes uh instill confidence in me every day. Uh, you know, they see me put in the work uh as I see them. So, uh they’re my biggest fans. I’m their biggest fans. And I appreciate, you know, just just all that. Baby, what does a win like this say about what this team is capable of? Uh, you know, just that, uh, when we play the right way and we play with an intentionality, uh, how good we can be offensively and defensively. Um, and just the fact that we can set the tone that way on the road, you know, against a good team is, uh, always good. How do you make sense of the off the team’swide teamwide offensive improvement over the last 10 days? I think we’re just moving the ball a lot more. Uh you know, the ball’s popping. Uh dudes are playing off close outs, dudes are getting open shots. Um our defense stepped up also, which which is allowing us to get transition looks and uh that sparks our our offense, our defense, and just uh the energy on the team when we get out and run and get layups and dunks. How would you describe your game when you’re on your A game? Uh I really uh I’m still trying to figure out uh you know I feel like it’s more levels I can tap into obviously uh it’s just year three and you know situation is uh what it is but uh you know I think I could just impact the game on two sides. Uh yeah I think you know uh I mean yeah I think I can do it. What’s the What’s the mood in there? And just in you guys have won 10 of 14. Uh the mood in there. Uh good. You know, uh we got a really confident team right now. Um and just I feel like we’re really sure of what we’re doing out there. Uh no second guessing. Everybody moving on one accord and uh we just we’re leaning into our identity, which is our defense and everything else is taking care of it. Offensively,

  1. Obviously your not gonna win every game and your gonna struggle but if we can play like this consistently there will be many championship celebrations. Go Magic๐Ÿ”ฎ๐Ÿ’™

  2. Why does no magic fan talk about that the offense is way more fluid and better with Paolo off the court?
Heโ€™s a great basketball player, but he needs to adjust his game and make smarter decisions for himself when he takes shots and for others and be more involved in a fluid offense ๐Ÿ€๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ™Œ
