I will now choose to believe this is fact and ignore all other Quinn Hughes contract talks till we can actally sign him.
I am choosing to believe this even if future me suffers more as a result.
Frank Seravalli knows Quinn Hughes intentions as much as what I left in the toilet this morning
Quinn has never once said he wanted to leave. Leaving without any success would be a burden he’d carry his whole life. Success doesn’t mean winning the cup either.
Maybe Buble’s comments this week will make more sense to the rotten fans now.
Say this is true and Quinn actually does stay. What do the next few years look like and what do you think is the most logical plan? You’re not blowing it all up if he stays.
Oh great, Hughes said the same thing that Marner said and Tavares said and every other player said 18 months before leaving. I can relax now.
I would cry real tears for days if he re-signs. Not even joking.
Always love Seravalli.
Furiously deletes all my previous comments
Keeping his cards close to his chest. He’s also too classy to say anything outright.
In order to protect my mental health I am full doomer on the canucks until proven otherwise
i honestly feel like his play on the ice and the way it looks like every loss kills him personally already makes this obvious. honestly worst case atp is if they miss the playoffs by a few points again. they need to either draft extremely high this year & bring in a bunch of young talent, or go on a heater starting today 💀
honestly i do believe this. i think a lot of people forget the “quinn wants to play with his brothers” narrative came from rutherford, not quinn himself. i’m sure he would love to play with his brothers, but he’s never once given the impression he wants it enough to leave this team. he loves the guys and seems to cherish his leadership role
The way my heart just lurched in my chest. And then I read “Seravalli” and it plummeted back down saddened resignation
I do believe the current core like it here and want to win a cup for the Canucks, but how many times have we heard a player wants to stay with their team then leave. We won’t know until the final decisions are made.
You’re going to see a PR game play out now where neither side wants to be seen as the “bad guy” in the eventual separation between Hughes and the organization.
This started in earnest in the summer when Rutherford put it out there that “maybe there’s nothing we can do to keep him if he just wants to play with his brothers”.
Hughes is a good kid and likely does care about his legacy in Vancouver. He does not want a narrative that he was always going to leave. If he doesn’t want to re-sign it’s because of organizational failures, not his commitment to Vancouver.
I don’t think it’s changing that the end result will be trading Hughes.
And this guy was apparently always going to be an Islander…
Let’s be real though. Not saying he thinks the same but how many of us would WANT to play with our siblings on the same team?
I had a huge rivalry with my brother and I don’t think I’d wanna play on the same team as him just because of that
Yes. Because the people closest to him would ever leak that he wants to leave?
Just watch hockey and not worry about it. He signs, doesn’t sign, or gets traded. No use dwelling on it.
Here’s the way I’m looking at it.
1. Hughes wants to play with his brothers.
QH was a lock for the US four nations team. Didn’t get to play with his brothers due to injury. He’ll get to play with his brothers in the Olympics this year, and any other international competitions. That could be enough until the twilight of his career.
2. QH wants to win/doesn’t want to be around for a rebuild.
I choose to believe he means a ‘tear it down to just himself’ rebuild. EP40, BB6, PH17, EP26, TW5 and JL23 are all pieces that can be rebuilt around with Quinn.
3. Rutherford’s comments yesterday.
Reads to me as ‘We’ve told Quinn the plan, who we want to keep around him etc. He’s on board to see where the plan goes for now. His pride won’t let him bail. Yet’
QH can extend for 8 years with the Canucks, get his bag, but could have an out clause that if he changes his mind through the process, they will trade him.
Hell, if he asks for a trade in 3 years, with the way the cap is going, whoever he goes to is gonna get 6 years of Quinn at a very attractive contract compared to what he would get if he pulled a McJesus and only signs for 2.
4. Seravelli will Seravelli, but I see this as a true statement since QH has never played like he’s done. Has he had short, almost curt answers in post game interviews? Yup. But I see that as more frustration than anything else.
5. This might be a whole metric fuck tonne of copium, and I am mightily unimpressed with this lineup/season but I do expect to see big changes to the team from management down (sorry Allvin) and I am not going to mourn the loss of QH until it happens

I love Frank Seravalli!!
**when he says something that I agree with and want to hear
NO ONE IS MORE CONNECTED THAN FRANKIE
I will not be providing, or searching for, further details.
Although I wouldn’t blame him if he decided to leave this dumpster fire. Here’s what I’ve been relaying to my friend group.
Does Quinn seriously seem like the kind of person that backs away from adversity? Do we really think he accepted the captaincy to just leave in 3 years. No! I truly believe Quinn is one of those guys that doesn’t just accept the captaincy without knowing he is committing to a full career in Vancouver.
I believe in my Captain. And I truly hope he makes the right decision.
The amount of cope is off the charts. Quinn had said that he doesn’t want to be around for a rebuild. Yet people on this sub will say “vancouver is his project” “its going to weigh on his mind he couldn’t win here” “McDavid stayed” the difference is McDavid team made it to the SCF back to back vs the canucks have one good season. They missed the playoffs last year. They’ll miss them this year too. This team desperately needs a rebuild. Yes there is a slight chance he stays but he will most likely be gone. So many people here are in delusion. Franky is the worst insider who throws shit at the wall wnd hopes it sticks.

Frankie is clearly the most reputable insider around and I never called him a fraudulent bum in my life
