[Shams] New York Knicks guard Landry Shamet will be re-evaluated in four weeks with a right shoulder sprain, sources tell ESPN. Shamet has been one of the league’s top shooters — 42.4% from 3 — and had emerged as a starter before sustaining the shoulder injury.

  1. Omg shoulder sprain is probably best case scenario after how it looked! Please don’t let this be a Randle situation again… I hope they are actually being transparent and accurate with the reporting

  2. Thank goodness dude. He was really starting to find his groove out there I can’t wait to see him back out there

  3. That must’ve been one hell of a sprain then I feel like. Shit sure looked dislocated

  4. Emerged as a starter is pretty misleading considering if OG was back he wouldnt be starting no matter how well he was playing

  5. Nice that it’s not a super longer term or season ender. Hopefully back by mid to late January

  6. Evaluated in a month doesn’t mean he’ll be back in a month. I’d say MLK day game is the best possible target date.

  7. He will be out for the year. When they say reevaluate it’s because there is swelling in the shoulder and they can’t see the extent of the damage. Same course of events with Randle when he popped his shoulder.

  8. Been praying for Landry to make it back since injury. Aside from how well he”s played, could not shake the feeling that it would have been karmically terrible if it was dislocated and we cut him (which would have been the necessary move but…feels bad, man).

If he’s back around the New Year I consider that a huge win.

  9. Glad to hear it seems like he may have avoided season-ending injury news. After the Randle injury I don’t fully trust our FO with stuff like this, but I’d like to believe this means he could be back in January.

However, what do we do in the meantime? We need someone who can come in and play now. Do we release him with the intent to bring him back in January like we did last year? Do we just try and ride this out and hope he’s eventually good to go?

Should be interesting to see what happens now in the next week or so roster wise.

  10. I guess this is good news. Still feel bad for Shamet though. Dude clearly worked his ass off and seemed like he was breaking through a bit. Hope he comes back strong.

  11. So what was that bone protruding in his shoulder? It really did look like he dislocated it partially at least. This is good news though and hopefully he’s back some time in January.
