Hopefully we get a decent return. I can’t find anything on that yet.
Can’t wait for Libby to be our #1 next year lol. Fine with it though not like we were going anywhere with him, getting some more of Bloom’s prospects back I’m assuming
Come on over, ghost of Ted Williams. You are now a St Louis Cardinal!
I’m betting Boston took on most of Gray’s contract. I would not expect more than a low level prospect in return.
Dick Fitts. 🙂
The initial reporting is LHP Brandon Clarke and RHP Richard Fitts.
Dick Fitts is a MLB-ready back-end starter with some upside. Clarke is in the back end of FanGraphs Top 100, big JUCO lefty in the low minors who throws in the high 90s with an elite slider and no third pitch to speak of.
We’ll see if the Cardinals had to eat a whole bunch of Gray’s salary, but seems like a nice return for one year of Sonny, IMO.
EDIT: Cards are sending $20M, which makes sense given that the prospect return seems pretty good.
At least we got 2 young pitchers!
Plus 20 mil. Lol.
Well, you’ve got McGreevey, and a hopefully resurgent Liberatore. Pallante is a question mark. They want to turn Leahy into a starter. Plus, new acquisitions and prospects.
There’s definitely room for somebody to emerge as our new front-end, go-to starter.
