Things just took a SURPRISING turn… Insider Reveals SHOCKING Blues Trade Update
Things just took a shocking turn for the St. Louis Blues as an NHL insider reveals a surprising trade update around a fan favorite as Doug Armstrong continues listening to offers from other Western Conference teams. This trade report is going to shock fans and we’re here to break down everything you need to know and more in this episode. So dear, let’s just go straight into it today where we know the St. Louis Blues, there’s nothing to hide. This team has been struggling and this has led to Nick Hippio and Elliot Freeman retweeting this going in on the top early looks at players available on the market. Now there’s a lot of names that you would see and I mean you can see one name in particular they’re in Shen but things get shocking where a St. Louis Blues team that continues to struggle now has their goalender, their starting goalender on a Stanley Cup championship team. Jordan Bennington has been linked to the Oilers. The strongest speculations ties Bennington to Edmonton and that the Oilers are also seeing if they can get a defenseman out of St. Louis at the same time. The potential deal would most likely be built around Steuart Skinner going back to St. Louis to team up with the Hall of Famer Hoer. Now, looking at this, Darius, this is insane. We know the Edmonton Oilers have been looking at goalenders. They looked at Colton Ellis before going to Buffalo, but what is your thoughts? And listen, we’re going to dive into exactly what a trade could look like and what this means for the Blues, but what is your initial thoughts on this article, which will be linked down below on Bennington possibly going to Edmonton Oilers? Well, on the surface, it makes sense that the Oilers would be involved in a goalender, especially one like Jordan Bennington, who, you know, has a great track record in big games. And the Oilers need a goalie that can come up big in those big moments because they’re a team that went to back-to-back Stanley Cup finals, and in last year Stanley Cup final didn’t know who their goalender was on any given night. So, that’s something that they have to figure out. So, on the surface, it makes sense. But, we got to go all the way back. This is where we’re at with this Blues team. Now, when we were talking about them in the offseason, we thought that, you know, I don’t know if they were going to be first. I didn’t even predict them to be first in in that central division. Maybe squeeze into the playoffs again, maybe a third uh divisional playoff spot, but at this point, this is where we’re at. We’re talking about selling off a lot of the older guys and even goalenders at this point. And I think you can get a lot for Bennington at this point because we know what he brings to the table. And he can be streaky even throughout his career, right? He puts together like some incredible stretches and then there’s times like to start this season, he is horrifying to watch. So, uh, there’s a lot of that. You know, he brings that fire as well, as you can see on your screen here, right? He brings that to a team. Maybe the Oilers want a little bit more of that. So, it definitely makes sense. And I think when you’re looking at what Doug Armstrong has set up with him and Hoffer, their contracts expire at the same time in two years. Uh, you know, they’re in the final years of their contract. I would imagine that they were going to move off of them at some point anyway unless it was going fantastic and they were looking like perennial Stanley Cup winners every single year which we know that wasn’t necessarily going to be the case right so this is where we’re at right now we are talking about possibly trading Jordan and Bennington and when you look at the article too there’s two blues in that picture as well like Stamp Coast makes sense you’re looking at a couple others tuck is a big question mark there is two blues in there so they’re I think at the forefront of all this right now because they have a couple veterans that a lot of teams would want and one of them is a goalender that I think Edmonton is salivating over right now because you know there’s connections there with even the Four Nations face off with Conor McDavid as well. So pretty interesting stuff and I mean the biggest thing is like you said you have two goalenders locked up for this season the next with Hoffer and going with Bennington at 6 million but with these reports it feels weird. Listen taking back Steuart Skinner that is just taking on a bad contract. we know almost an unplayable goalender most nights but I think the value here and listen I’m not going to sit here and say listen trade Bennington it’s smart we don’t want him cuz we do we love him in the city but the big thing is looking at the Blues team if you want to get younger you have a younger goalender that has struggled at times in Hoford that you can build in make your number one goalender give him every night he might throw a pizza up the middle of the ice which allows them to score but we know it’s a young budding goalender that can build with this team now going in on Stuart Skinner once Once again, I’m super down on this guy. I make it very obvious in every episode anywhere that Steuart Skinner is not a great goalender. But the biggest thing is the Edmonton Oilers play very fast pace and not a lot of defense, which we’re seeing right now with the Blues to essentially don’t even skate that fast some nights. But getting Steuart Skinner, you could do this trade earlier on, maybe recoup some value. Someone goes down for another team. They’re looking for a backup goalender. You flip Stuart Skinner. But Darius, before we get into the plus and exactly another defenseman that could be a part of this, do you think Steuart Skinner is a guy that maybe you bring in, he turns things around or do you just flip him at deadline if you get this trade done sooner rather than later? You try and flip him or maybe you’re just taking him back to make the salary cap work, right? But he’s not a solution for this team in any way. He would come in and be the automatic backup goalender of this team. His contract expires at the end of the year. So maybe you resign him if you just want an NHL caliber goalender. He’s not the greatest NHL caliber goalender. I mean, the fact that they went to, you know, back-to-back Stanley Cup finals is a true testament to a guy like Conor McDavid and Leon Diceettle willing that team to win because he’s just not a starting goalender in this league. So, he’d come he would come into the Blues and be a backup uh to to Hoffer and Hoffer would take over the reigns in this scenario. But to go back to something very quickly too, like I I don’t want to trade Jordan Biddington first and foremost. But I think if it comes down to it, like and the return is there, especially for a team as desperate as the Edmonton Oilers, I feel like you might have to pull the trigger at this point if it doesn’t look like you’re going to make the playoffs. So I think it’s a real possibility that they have to look at it. But I wouldn’t want to do it. I think Bennington for the most part is a fan favorite here. He’s won a Stanley Cup and you know you can rely on this goalender for a big save when you need it. when there’s guys around the league like a Connor Halibuck, you can’t say the same for him, right? Like when you need that save in that moment in the playoffs, who do you want to net right now across the league, it’s probably Jordan Bennington for me? He did it so many times last year again when people were calling him washed, right? So, um I it would it would suck to trade him, but at the same time, I think we’re headed down a path here where they’re going to have to at least consider it. And there’s going to be teams that are desperate like the Oilers that would pull the trigger on it. So, it’s going to be interesting to see what happens if it is Skinner come the other way. Like maybe you resign him, maybe you try to flip him. I don’t know who’s taking that at that point. So, uh, you would probably have to retain his rights, that’s for sure. Cuz I think the big thing is too, this could be a trade that could happen within the next month. But I think there’s a big thing. We know Doug Armstrong is going to take Bennington on team Canada going to the Olympics. Maybe you wait, you let him go in as the number one goalender. He has an incredible performance which we seen last year, but going in with this that could build the value of Jordan Bennington even more. We know this is a Blues team that lacks second round picks over the next two draft. They have extra picks in the fifth. They have an extra fourth next year, but this is a team that needs to add more young players draft capital and clear up some veterans on the team. Once again, not saying this should be Jordan Bennington because I love him on this team. But looking at the Oilers, they don’t have a first this year. maybe you go out to try to acquire a first round pick, a prospect, take back Steuart Skinner, but with the report theories going in quickly, it’s they’re looking for not only a goalender with Jordan Biddington being linked, but they’re looking at a defenseman as well. Now, listen, we’re going to do a full video on another name, a defenseman from this article, but quickly looking at this team. Let’s be honest, there’s one name in particular that’s going to really stand out to Blues fans is Justin Faulk. the guy that we see the Blues move on if the Oilers are looking at acquiring multiple pieces. He is the odd man out at this point. I mean, you are not getting Broberg back. That is for sure. And when you look up and down the lineup like Mayu doesn’t make any sense to move off of uh Fowler doesn’t make any sense and you just resigned him as well. Tyler Tucker doesn’t make any sense. So, the guy you land on if you’re looking at defense is Faulk, right? And he has been, you know, okay at times and you know what he is at this point in his career as well. So, I think the Oilers could be interested in that. We know what he can bring in the playoffs. So, um I could see it being, you know, something that they consider. You would have to make the salary cap work as well. There would have to be retained salary, but that’s okay. You know, you can eat some of that. If you’re the Blues, you have the space to do that. Like the Blues are in a good spot right now either way. If they start to pick it up, they can go out and make a move to add at the deadline or vice versa. They can sell and take on a bunch of money. So, they’re in a good spot, I think, right now. Either way, depending on how this the rest of the season goes. Uh but to me, odd man out is fault for sure on the blue line. But, I mean, fans, what is your thoughts on this report? What are your thoughts on Bennington being linked to the Edmonton Oil orers? We seeing Colton Ellis, as I said, to start the season before going on waiverss. Now, Bennington’s name is starting to heat up with multiple other Blues. I mean, you can see two in this report as well. What is your thoughts on all this? Go down and leave a comment down below. Yeah go ahead and trade our key players…..not!!! Schenn I can see but one of our goalies is only going to weaken us. Hofer is not ready for a head spot. Harkens back to us trading away Peron, O'Reilly, Maroon and others after we won the stanley cup. We haven't been the same since! If this is rebuilding it sucks for the fans!
No NoNo and No….
i just dont see it .. who the hello on edm would we want … not skinner for sure .. i rather trade hofer tbf … but edm is not a good trading partner , montreal would be better
Horrible is a little strong!
That move gives Oil the goalie they've needed forever. It does nothing for StL 5:49
Hofer is not a Hall of Famer.
You 2 guys must be high to trade binner for skinner unless your oilers fan
No way Binner is going anywhere.
NOT GONNA HAPPEN. Wouldn't be prudent
Lol….we are not trading our goalies. We need a true shooter and more than anything a better defense.
Not sure if you have seen but Edmontons defense is just as bad as ours.
Also Edmonton is dependant on McDavid and Drysaitl to create scoring on at least 50%of their goals. Everyone else on that team is just as good as what the blues have now.
It is WAY too early to he talking like this. Unless the return is an elite player, there is ZERO point in this
0 interest in Skinner as the main piece back for Binner.
Trade binner and kyrou please. The rest will sort its self out.
trade hofer instead or binner to mtr for a cartload of prospects and maybe their goalie monty
Binnington is not going to be on team Canada I mean almost ever team hates him
This would make a lot of sense for Edmonton, but I really hope we dont trade Binnington. He's not perfect, but he's our trash Binn.
Binner is the ONLY reason why this blues team will even stays near or slightly above .500
They wanted binnington last year but the Blues were still in the playoff hunt so no deal. I don’t see this team doing that’s again. If a d man is included it would be Kessel or Faulk. The question is what would St. Louis get back. I’m sure Edmonton would prefer Faulk but can they afford his salary along with Binnington without sending salary back out. I don’t think so so if a d man is involved it’s probably Kessel which isn’t an upgrade imo. His play has been shaky at best
Of course , it makes sense that Edmonton would like to trade for Jordan Binnington. However, it makes no sense for the Blues to trade Binnington to the Oilers for SKINNER, especially after losing Colton Ellis to Buffalo on waivers.
If the return listed is true Armstrong has to pull the trigger. Three first? Come on that’s a huge return. The additions of Faulk really isn’t possible due to cap restrictions unless army takes salary back. Faulk shaking a great offensive season his value hasn’t ever been higher as a Blue
No freakin way! Where do you guys even find this smut?
Unless they are adding one of their top forwards ain't going to happen. Sincerely all blues fans
I feel Bennington has been rumored to Edmonton since last year (if not longer). He makes sense they need a goalie bad (and have for many years)
Has to be a MASSIVE haul for a goalie with his resume
I will be willing to say if I'm wrong on this, but I do not see this happening unless binner wanted it. I like this channel but there are other things you can talk about that isn't dumb rumors that only sew division between the fan base and possibly the players if they see these dumb headlines
Skinner is perfect for a “tank” season
Would expect much MORE than a goalie swap. If EDM is desperate Skinner can’t be their primary chip, right?
Need to try to be SELLERS and getting at least slightly more value than giving up.
Don’t get rid of anyone just to get rid of them
If I was Army and they offered Skinner, Savoie, 2028 1st, 2026 2nd, and a player to make the cap work, for Faulk and Binner, I would pull the trigger. That first in 2028 could be insanely valuable if McDavid decides to walk or get traded.
Getting rid of Binnington would make the Blues into the Sabres–do we really want a decade of futility with no playoffs? Because that's what's going to happen if Binner is traded.
That’s dumb. Edmonton would need a 3rd team to be involved. Their prospects aren’t that good and a late 1st is not gonna get Binnington.
I dont see how this wouod help the Blues at all. Binnington is doing great but we have nothing going on on the actual ice
💥 BLOW IT UP ! 💥
Trade EVERYONE for picks..! I waited 52 years for a Cup.., I can wait a couple seasons for a REBUILD !
EDM is barely doing better than STL is this year. 2 Wins away with games in hand. Why even consider this unless it’s for Drai
I'd bet that this is Army lighting a fire vs actually considering trading 50 unless he's absolutely blown away by an offer. Skinner is a laughable starting point.
also: what ARE your thoughts
Hall of famer Hoffer? Jesus!
EDMONTON IS DELUSIONAL AND THINK THEY CAN JUST “GET” WHICHEVER PLAYER THEY WANT.
It's hard to believe your mother's lets you Out of the basement
If I was Binner I would prefer to play in the KHL than in Edmonton, and I say this as an Edmonton fan (Born and raised a Habs fan, but I've lived in Edmonton for 3 decades and you should root for the home team)
Tell me that there's more than just Skinner, coming back to StL, if the Blues are sending Binnington & a Defenseman …
Binnington is making 1.3M less (although Skinner is 5 years younger)…If the Blues are going to retain salary on Faulk…What would be the incentive for the Blues to make this trade ? … Edmonton has very little Draft Capitol, and not much in the Prospect Pool……What does StL, walk away with, for conceding and equal Goaltender and a right hand shot, veteran Dman, that's having a relatively good year ?
Just what I need, watching ANOTHER ex Blue advancing to the Cup.
Go Blues… straight to hell …..hall of famer Hofer
why in the fuck would we ever want Skinner over Binnington??? you guys are lost in your logic here..
