New York Giants vs New England Patriots | Week 13 Game Preview

New York Giants hit the road for some Monday Night Football action worthy of it for no other reason than they are a pretty entertaining watch. They are in New England this week. Pats at home after officially getting the call from principal Rooney last week. That’s nine times now the Patriots have won a game. Flaco. Oh, they’re bringing everybody hit as he throws and broken up. Incomplete and that is it. So, we have a 10- win team on a ninegame win bender versus a two- win team on a six-game losing streak. Why, aside from upsets happen, should anyone expect it to be close? Well, the Patriots did almost get tripped up by an also ran and the Gmen just put a scare into another playoff caliber team, taking the Lions to OT behind what might be the play of the year. Ofi with the pass into the end zone for a Giants touchdown. Jamus Winston. Unreal. What if they hit New England with another Jamus special? I figured after pulling the ultimate spin move, stiff arm matting combo, Winston would just pass out from Joy. Plus, remember Blue has worn the major underdog hat before when facing New England, right? But despite Drake May and his offense sputtering versus the worst defense in football, New England fans will tell you they aren’t a one-dimensional squad. Good luck crossing the 24 point threshold against them. Only one team has done it in 2025. They held Cincinnati to 20 points. Three for 13 on third down. Only one red zone trip allowed. Third down and fives. Crumbling pocket. Here they come. Town he goes. Their secondary, familiar with backup quarterbacks who have made some waves this year, held Joe Flacco to 183 yards, 19 of 37 passing, under five yards per attempt, a low60s rate. Oh, it’s picked off. That’s a pick six. Kiss him goodbye. They didn’t have to deal with Hawk to a chase, of course. And their play versus the pass hasn’t always been tiptop this year. And now their corners have to be ready to defend Jamus’s long balls. That is if Jackson Dart can’t go again. Hard to know if he’ll make it back this week. Winston though aired it out for 366 yds last week. Over 10 yards per attempt, a couple of touchdowns. As Winston throws to the end zone, caught for a touchdown. Archer and company call it phrasing. On the pass rush front, Winston only took one sack, 36 pass attempts. Wasn’t an issue in his first start versus Green Bay either. New England’s pass rush only made it to Flaco’s house once. 37 chances, too. Average sack total for 2025. Their DBs only let one Bengal go for 36 plus yards. They held T. Higgins to 31. Now they try and slow Juan Dale. Robinson struts in off 156 yards on nine catches and a score. Fires downfield into the end zone. Touchdown. Wandell Robinson. That was Wandell’s second 100yard game, the first since week two, 36 to 62 yards in the four games prior to going off last week. Theo Johnson comes off a season high 77yd day of work. Fires a catch. It is caught by the tight end out of Penn State. Isaiah Hajins enters off a 42yd one-score game from the end zone. Aring it out and it is caught. That was just the second game he’s played this season. 57 yards the week before. So, he’s making a mark. And so is Tyrone Tracy, who’s trying to remind everyone he shouldn’t get lost in the Scataboo Shuffle. 68 receiving yards versus Detroit along with 62 on the ground. 100 plus scrimmage yards back-to-back games. Wide open. Tyrone Tracy inside the Lions 30. Tracy wasn’t especially efficient at 3.1 a carry. Neither was Devin Singleary, 3.4 a run on his 14 attempts. So, what do they get with New England’s defense? The one holding backs to the second lowest yards per carry mark in 2025 or the one that gave up 107 yards to Chase Brown on 5.6 per adventure and Brown with the big hole up the middle and then stopped in the secondary. Could see lots of runs in this matchup based on week 12. Giants attempt at an upset fell short in large part because their defense gave up over 200 yards to Jir Gibbs. Two long touchdowns, a 69yder and OT. They also gave up 45 receiving yards to him and a touchdown along with 149 yards and a touchdown to Amanra St. Brown. 279 yards to Jared Goff. Two TDs, 34 points in total. made sure their stars weren’t hungry heading into turkey day week. On first and goal, it is Gibbs. Reaches across. Touchdown. Made Detroit’s big three look very big. Drake isn’t really part of a big three. Well, that one song claims he was. But Kenny and May would fire back. Forget the big three. There’s just the big me. 294 yards in his latest rap battle. Over eight yards per attempt. One TD. Escaping traffic. Wide open. Henry. That’s a Patriot touchdown. 255 plus yards in seven of his last eight. He did throw a pick and that’s one in four of his last five. Hasn’t slowed down their offense until last week. It was a pick six. And New England’s defense accounted for seven points. Means their offense was only good for 20 points. Wasn’t at its best. That is pick off on the play. Blockers ahead. He is in and a pick six. May only took one sack, 35 pass attempts. They did lose rookie left tackle Will Campbell, who hurt his knee. Three straight games, May’s taken just one sack. New York’s pass rush features Mr. Burns stuck on 13 sacks. Didn’t have one of the three golf bags. Darius Alexander with a pair, though. Golf under pressure. And he’ll be sacked once again. St. Brown and Gibbs were the only two guys New York had issue with last week. New England doesn’t have guys quite on that level. Tayvon Henderson rushed for 66 yards, 15 receiving yards. Henderson again, first down run. He bolts right through. Under four yards per carry again. Back-to-back games in three of his last four now. Only one Pats pass catcher marching in off a 40 plus yard game. Kahan Booty was back 15 yards versus Cincinnati. Stfan Diggs baby keep him up maybe 20 yards. M. Hollands 30 yards. Deario Douglas a 37yd reception. What a throw that was. May going deep and he’s got a great deep arm. Caught Deario Douglas with a big time catch. And May liked his tight end matchups last week. Austin Hooper with 39 yards. Hunter Henry the star of their week 12 show. Season high 115, previous high 90 back in week three. Paint jaw last week. They go underneath and it’s caught by the tight end busy today. Hunter Henry out of bounds. Gmen and the Pats tied up 7 to7 all time. Too many New England fans at the game preview guy bar with how things have gone for these two teams. Bad business to pour out 2007 and 2011 memories when no one is ordering them up. So, let’s check out the first time the Patriots beat the Giants. Sherman, take us back to 1974. But as competitive as the Giants were that day, M. Heron returns carried the Patriots beyond the grasp of defeat. Trailing 14 to7, Heron’s 62 yd kickoff return ignited the Patriots offense. And on the next play, a leaping catch by Randy Vetaha made it a tie game. From there, the Patriots went on to claim a 28-20 victory, which spoke well of a young team whose emotions could easily have let down following their dizzying upset of Miami. But the game’s most important factor was not a singular play or player. It was the defense. For throughout the afternoon, it pounded the Giants offense and stripped them of their ground attack. Hey, hey, hey.
