Blue Jays To Sign Dylan Cease To Seven-Year Deal

  1. How the hell did Dylan Cease get $30M/year?? That’s insane, this market is cooked. We are not getting King back that’s forsure lol

  2. Well fuck fellas we might not be getting a starter on the market if super shaky cease is getting this payday

  3. This is probably the best outcome. I knew we couldn’t keep him so him going to the AL works for me and I respect seeing a runner up team going ALL IN the next year

  4. I knew that a lot of other teams were interested in Cease, but Jesus, 7 years $210 mil. Jays had better hope they can iron out his consistency.

  5. Not too surprised by the contract. His age, durability, and strikeout ability alone was always gonna earn him a hefty deal despite the inconsistencies in his performance year to year. He’s still got a cy young caliber ceiling IF he can put it all together for a full season. Also glad he went to an AL team

  6. So long, Dylan!

Thank you for the no-no. And some good games. But I think we knew your Padres days were coming to a close.

Go easy on SD when you play them. 🥲

  7. Blake Snell signing last year for 5 yrs/$182m looks like a bargain now. Should’ve resigned Snellzilla

  8. Supreme talent. If you need a guy to obliterate a 60 win team in August there’s no one better.

  9. hindsight is 20/20 but man trading both kolek and bergert will hurt if this is the general market. regardless it needed to happen, fermin was a must needed upgrade

  10. Congrats to Dylan! But I’m glad we didn’t have to pay that…but I’m still concerned about where the rest of our rotation is going to come from. Will Musgrove be throwing on a fake mustache to pitch more often?

  11. Every player the Jays sign is an over pay. Canadian taxes. To those who thought DC wasn’t going to get $25… the line starts at Yamamoto.

  12. Dylan Cheeks got as far from the Dodgers as he could since they clearly didn’t want him lmfao.

  13. This sub would have a complete meltdown if the padres signed him to that deal.  Like fire Preller today kind of melt down.

It doesn’t hold well for the market.

Preller is just gonna have to find a way to make a trade, move pen arms to starters or wait it out and hope for a miracle.

  14. Overpay to put it lightly. So glad SD did not do this. Im confident this comment ages well.

  15. People saying it’s on overpay, but they’re paying for a guy who hasn’t been over a 5 era in 5 years. With an average of 3.8 era. Sometimes consistency is worth the price.
