Boston Bruins vs. New York Islanders | NHL Highlights | November 26, 2025
So solid defensive work of late for the New York
Islanders. Underway. Our puck draw presented by Vanda Pharmaceuticals. Islanders in ruins for the
third and final time this year as the Islanders looking for their first win against the Bees in
what is a packed house here. Shabana will touch it. Richie will skate it. Richie throws the brakes
on, takes the look, forced it down the board. Shabana. Little head fake on Tanner Jano in front.
Deflected by Castellic. The pass was intended for Richie. The puck still wound up. Donovan Asperone
settles it down and plays to his partner Zadorov. That pass fired down the ice out of the reach
of Bluml. It’s an icing call against the Bruins. Pull had it and lost it after a setup by Matt
Barcel. The Bruins playing with it in front of their own net. They turned it over. Barcel to
the net and Anders Lee got a stick on that as he was battling with Sidorov in tight. Luml the red
line tried to dump it in. It was clubed down by Schaefer. And here he goes with Barcel. Schaefer
driving. Barcel cruising east west. Now it’s Lee out high. Schaefer takes a look. Feeds D’Angelo
over Barcel. He’s open. Darts to the inside. He tucked it home. Oh, Matt Barzel on bobblehead
night. Burries one not even 5 minutes in. Tracking persistence and finding a way to make
sure this carrier right here. Can’t even get to the red line. Watch as this thing comes
up the ice. An excellent job by everyone in blue coming back. You got five jerseys all
stuck together in transition. That’s the name of the game for Matthew Schaer. We
talked about entries in the early going, Bren. And how about that from number 13 as this
thing gets worked around. Great vision by Tony D’Angelo and a dance from Barcel on a night that
you needed to start things early. A night after he got shut out in regulation. How’s this for a
start, K? What a beauty that would have thought. Acim and Mayfield came in, got the puck to the
line, not across it. Aspro shot snap the stick of Simplic. They work it to the net and they
score. Alex Steves taps it in from the crease and the first shot for the Boston Bruins goes in
just a minute and 42 seconds after the Islanders had taken the lead for the New York Islanders.
And it starts coming right off the wall. This thing somehow ends up in the middle. But watch the
stick of Ciplov breaking in front as Boowquist is looking to sort out trying to play with his
skate. Goes off his skate and ends up going right to Steves who’s got the pedigree Brendan
of a goal scorer in the American Hockey League. They’re looking for that from him here as a Boston
Bruin. And that’s about as easy as it gets. And Brillia Sroen the easiest way to start the game on
a paper hands to Barcel and those two head north. Carzel will gain the line right down the middle.
Snapped it off the end wall. Packed up by Lee. Tried it from a tough angle. Lee Drew. D’Angelo
fires one. Caught across the body of Swayman. Handled here by Zaka and Yokiharu. A little bit
of room. Astronaut. Hands off for Zaka just on side. Pavle Zaka met there by Schaefer and Lee.
Merry closing in. Paul Murray around the outside. Taking a look. Dur change is frisk off the bench
for Mayfield. goes to the goal. That one in and out of the glove of Swayman. Talk about a team
coming back from out west. Maybe things start to show here. If Boston’s tiring, the Islanders
find themselves. Richie just thrown into the spoke B on the jersey and they have fallen all the way
down to last in the NHL in power play percentage. Simplicity might be what you’re calling for
here on the entry, which actually hasn’t been the reason for their lack of success so far, but
you burn time and you take your team and the crowd out of it with poor entry. See if Barcel can fix
that here. Barcel to Horvath. Pressure came from Aspero. I fighting for the puck again. They
got it to Schaefer. Wine shoots. Save made on a low shot. Schaefer no doubt looking for that
puck. Exactly halfway through the power play, Islanders get the second unit on the ice and
they win the face off and go to work in the slot. Heman a sneaky little backhander turned away by
Swayman. Heman’s pass to the slot taken by Frasier Mitten and the Bruins will carry the puck into the
offensive zone as a penalty coming to a close and a shot had to be stopped by Siroken short-handed.
Osken now back out on the ice side no goal on two shots during that power play. Dumped in
by Peak. It’s broken out to handle. Shots though are nine-3 in the Islanders favor. Bruins
scored on their very first shot of the night. Ostronaut forces this puck in. Elias Lynholm pushed up against the glass there. The
puck still in that pile. I like the idea. Mate Blue Mel was on the ice and turned the
puck over which led to Matt Barzell’s goal. He went to the bench after that. This puck
wound up in a good spot. Then he went down the tunnel. Has not been seen since. The
Bruins have already announced he is done for the night. So one forward short. Lower
body injury for Mate Bluml. And the Boston Bruins will play with 11 forwards the rest of
the way. We’re in it. Let’s stay there. Yeah, but still a long way to go. Here’s Schaefer.
Kicks it to Holstrom. Holstrom shot. Le was behind him and swept away. Swayman has it
somehow underneath him. If the Oers can kill it the rest of the way. Post with the puck fired
it on goal. Big rebound off the pad of Sroen. Sadorov with a knuckle puck that was tipped on
the way and went off the glass. Mark Castle plays it to Zidorov again. Zorov works away from Ball
Horvac on goal. Save Maine. Rebound kicked around, found its way on the stick of Jano and he
scores. That one just pinalled around in the slot and Tanner Jano makes no mistake. Top
corner 2-1 Boston. The Islanders were in good shape. Druan slowed it up. Ryan Pock will take the
puck. Barcel’s pass. Druan out high. Takes a look. Takes a shot. Rebound there. Lee battling puck
underneath him. Penalty upcoming here. Driving kicks off for Barcel. Jaffa looking, shooting,
rebound, saved by Swayman on the drive from Paul Murray and the Bruins clear it and Jano finishes
check on Heinman. Pell for Pock has shavon going on the left side didn’t get it to him. Pull up the
tow dragging the shot and blocked away by Swayman. Here’s Pell coming down the wall. He got dumped by
Pete. Pelic reaching for that puck. Kept it in the zone. After it is Richie and then Pete out to the
neutral zone. Pelic is there. Richie for D’Angelo loads it up. A wristster that sticks on the pad
of Swayman and he covers Lai and the sticks to the Boston Bruins and boosted Heino first and then
Lai there. Something looked like it was breaking loose. Pull off. Oh, and he caught Anders Lee
in the leg. Still alive. Lee gets a couple of whacks at it, but Swayman has it covered. Oh,
flip down to Horvat. Lot of zone time here for the Islanders. Everyone a minute and a half for
more on Boston. Horvat pellet backhand kicked down by Swayman. Schaefer hands off for Pulloff.
Now it’s Max Shabinoff. He has a path into the zone. He’ll take it. Max Shabonov between his
skates around Lynholm. Backhands it through the crease. Just glanced off and swaming on the
way through. Richie now for Boowquist. Boquist a snap shot from long range with no traffic.
No problem for Jeremy Swayman. You know, knocked off by Mayfield. Barcel takes it. Heads
up ice quickly weaving his way behind Druan. Enters the zone. Barcel hits the brakes all the
way through for Schaefer. Schaer restster. Stop made by Swayman. A great job in front of the net.
I’m not sure how much. Coming around towards Mason Lauri. Lyn Holm. That shot was headed high.
And I feel like I sroen hasn’t had his name talked about much so far tonight. This is the
eighth time he’s seen a puck come his way and two. Alex Steves spun on. Holstrom dumps it in.
Sroken out the handle on the back end towards Mayfield. Corrali was there. Wraparound driver.
Loose puck in front and Sroen able to gobble it up and getting set and making the Islanders make
a dump that they don’t want to make. Here’s a Lynholm with lots of room testing Sroen on the
blocker side. Two over that time. They’ve got a drastic lead in the shot totals in this hockey
game. The trail 2-1. Anders Lee with a good look, but a clean look for Jeremy Swain here early on.
But that Bruins goal right after the Islanders took the one- nothing lead kind of zapped the
energy from him and looking to get it back as that fly by tip from Paul Mary was handled in front. Uh
just as you talked about the second period, Cal, you take away the goalender’s eyes this time.
Calary got a stick on that. It’s those fly by screens that seem to mess up goenders. Here’s
Richie from an angle. Put it off the blocker of Swayman. Goes uncalled as Paul Murray slips into
the zone. Ryan Pulloff with a wrist to the net. No traffic again in front of Jeremy Swayman. This Bo
Horvath was hanging out just to his right. Simon Holmstrom with speed across the line. Holstrom
snaps one rebound in the slot. Nobody home. Back hands it in. Mayfield gets there. Lost it. Castic
sent to the front. Islanders guided away from the net. Alex Steves turns and shoots that one off the
skate of Mayfield. I’m surprised at the amount of lead she’s getting here tonight. I mean, here’s
a turnover and it’s Matt Barzell drags and shoots and it’s off Sllayman and out of play. Schaer
had to turn on the jets. Mitten got there ahead of him. Line wristster from peak got through and
a save from Sroen. Rebound right to Barcel. It was Schaer was an option up the ice for Barcel. Some
nice speed and attention here from the Islanders, but we got a minute left here. This is big. Oh,
Mary to Schaefer. Schaefer didn’t get a lot on that pass. And now it’s a twoon-one for Boston
short-handed. Steves and Mitten. Frasier Mitten drags made the pass across and they score. Alex
second of the game. Cub shorthanded on a twoon-one break with Frasier Mitten. Still a minute on this
power play, but up top we have hardly set this all here. A little mistake by Matthew Schaefer.
And the 211 goes, I thought he was going to get the slide just with the stick, but what a play
from Fraser Mitten. I mean, this is a guy that the Toronto Maple Leafs reluctantly gave up. He
was part of a big hall and skill on full display. And Steve, he’s a smart hockey player. What a big
night for him. You talk about the opportunity he has and Sroken who’s pretty much only seen a point
shot since that’s jammed right back to Mayfield. He’s able to get off the wall in the backhand.
Now to the forehand. Forced to the goal. It is eventually covered up by Swayman after Richie had
a whack at it. Sharp angled shot well wide. Picked up by Pock just inside the blue line. Sent to Paul
Mary. Paul Mary from below the goal line. Put it in the crease and it’s covered up by Swayman.
On the day before Thanksgiving, the final score 3 to one behind 39 saves from Jeremy Swayman.
Well, Brendon, if you looked at the box score,

The Islanders have absolutely worthless career ECHL 4th line defenseman after the wunderkid Schaefer. The defenseman are absolutely awful. They need 5 more defenseman who actually can play nhl defense.
Schaeffer looks like he belongs in the nhl. Wish we hsd drafted barzel instead of debrusk
