NHL Highlights | Maple Leafs vs. Blue Jackets – November 26, 2025

And the starting lineup brought to you by Molson. Molson. Everyone in. So that should be a boost when your captain returns. Tavaris on it again. A centering pass off his feet. Right through the goal mouth. And here’s Bedwa in front of the net. Knander stopped by Greed. Tamarz tried to dig it loose. It was still available. And finally behind the net. Good cycle from down low. You can see two bodies in front. And there’s a great pass by Ben Wis that Greavves able to shut the five hole at the last second. Kneel and now played to the line. Morinsky gloved it able to knock it down. Vanilli’s got it down low in front and Barov can’t finish. You know when he’s coming across wasn’t able to get the poke check in. Now you just got to stay closed inside. And and the coach did like the fact that he was upset about it. Here’s Ben Tilly and Wall with the stop and but an aggressive pinch at one end creates an oddman play at the other. Nice save by Wall squeezing it under his arm. Trying to shake the checking of Proarov. Curls it back. There’s Domi looking for the return. Matthews John. It got behind Greind yourself a little time does Matthews here and then a little give and go. Cycle through and then that quick release beats the goender. What a play though by This is why they’re ahead of the Leafs in the standings. So, we start the second period. 39 seconds remaining in the link penalty to Nick W. Here’s NY getting it back. Tried to feed Riley off his stick and away goes Cole Cinger. Here’s Cylinder working his way in. Sweeps it across. Mahan and Wall the stop. A rebound loose in front and then back the other way. Good positioning by Morgan Riley, but it’s the D jumping up again or rather the trailing forward and Monahan jumping up and another good save for Wall. Know you had a tired lead team. They really tried to get them moving around and tire them out. Might have something here at Cowan. Was there a high stick right in and Greavves with a stop scoreless here in the second. Best chance for the Leafs maybe East Cowan knocked down. Kent Johnson away onto the right side and that’s too far for Runov. Eastston Cowan turns it over in front and he’s robbed by Joseph Wall. Watch it coming off the boards there. Veronov with the quick pass across and just it’s with the shot blocked by Wah. Pinov gets it back. Here’s Matechuck down low. Winsky in front of the net past Reese was tied up and Wall will cover. He’s going to be on a shot. How about this one in midair? It just Cylinger throws it to the middle there. There’s it up and bounces right back to him. But wavar will flip it away trying to spring an alleyoop pass to Cowan but Kobarov able to play that back up. Veronov hit in front of the leaf bench by Ecman Larson but now Veronov an oddman rush across. Baritinsky scores. And what does that do? Well, it opens up. If it chips by, he’s now gone. And Baronov with the pass across. And boy, what a shot. There’s Worinsky again. Just upwards. Toronto is challenging the play to see if there was offside. I think it’s not it’s not Fantily that’s offside. I think at the other end it’s Johnson who is offside. If not, there might be a determinide. There you go. Captain’s got it. Curls back. Losing his footing there with Ster. The shot deflected high in front of the net. Reeds with a big left pad stop percentage of time leading. Well, they 28th in that. So, they they made it through this tied going into the third. They’re 5-0. And that’s what you have to really focus on here. Can you put 20 minutes in in a game that’s kind of been a difficult one to sift your way through? Here’s a pass picked off by Tvarz. He’s got McMahon. John Tvarz off the glove of Green. Tvarz holds on. Tried to feed back to Benois on your off wing like that. Takes a quick little look. Nothing there. Tries to go short side. There’s a good save though by Greavves. Here goes four Blue Jackets over the wide. It’s dropped off for Johnson across Vantilly and Wool was there to make the stop. Not a lot to shoot at for Oliver Xman Larson. Look at that. Right between a little delayed getting to Fanty and that allows in his first game of the year in behind the net. Fed back to Fabro. Fabro shot deflected on goal. Aston Ree stopped by Wall. Nice play there to hold the zone momentarily. And now Ekman Larson tied up by Miles Wood. Here’s Wood from the corner in front. And oh, just got enough of that. Nice job by Fabry to do it. A little spin around by Eman Larson. Loses it. And then this one. Another eight minutes here into the third. Who breaks the ice tonight? Get Johnson over the line. It’s Vantilli. And the stop. Ventelli in front again. And Tavaris takes over this blue paint. Fantelli. The puck just seems to follow around. That’s when Larson activates. Cylinder will flip it into the air. Riley’s got to get back as away goes Penelli in front and again with the backhand forehand. Couldn’t find anything. And then a nice saucer pass in front that sliding watching him on the pass. Intercepted and breaks. Coyle. It’s a threeon one. Charlie Coyle across. W down to make a stop and N takes it away from Coyle back into the corner that created a turnover. Knander standing still doesn’t get back and this is one just an absolute beauty. You can see Wall kind of got caught in no man’s land right here and just forced to go back on his seat. Able to make that close all the holes as best you can and just go. Nice old battle there. Shoulderto-shoulder with Boils and Doby helps out to win it back but couldn’t get it to Stetchard. And here comes Wood over the line with Linsky again. Scores and this one’s going to stay on the board for Zack Winsky. Decision for Ster. Do I go in after this puck? And then he looks and says, “Nope, that’s Miles Wood. He’s got too much speed.” So now you’re going forward, back. And this is what Vinski does. Look at that short side. There is nothing to shoot at there. And he just calmly keeps his head up, picks his spot, and goes right underneath the blocker. Big Mabe into the corner for Tavaris. Trying to shake the checking of Lorenky. Cowan with a little bit of a pick that allows Tavaris a little room. Cover up. Here’s Cowan. Scores. East. Cowan has tied it. Just sort of backs off. Watch on this cycle. Great job. Get out of the way of Venki. No penalty coming here. And then Tavaris, as he does so often, keeps the play alive. Knander with the backhand move and that’s one that you know that Cowan has been trying to make. He’s missed a few close calls. There’s the contact. No penalty made. Tavar keeps it alive. Backhand sauce and what a shot from a tough angle up and over the That’s a big confidence boost and a huge goal for the Leafs. And another chance in front. Wall save and another. Did you see that? Oh man. Came up with the biggest goal. Tie it up. Wood in tight. One safe. Slides across and gets the right pad down there. Just excellent. You know, forget about your technique at this point. Just get the athleticism to get there. He gets the Columbus play back to the line. Oh, that didn’t miss by much. It did. Severson right in our line of fire. That looked like it missed by inches. And one point for each and Matthews out to start along with McKe is Tavaris just out to win a draw against Charlie. Yeah, my guess is win the draw. You can see how hotly contested it is and he’s going to go to the bench. 88 for Eman Larson. Crisscrossing as N gets to the bench. Matthews one last shift. Nice. Matthews to the net. Nater again. scores. If there’s a will, there’s a way. And the Leafs win it here at Columbus. Oh man, William Knander again. And the Leafs get a much needed road win and their 10th victory of the season. Yeah, Knander trying to pass over to Matthews and it comes right off of Monahan. And then you could see Greavves. He’s all in going to his left. A quick little stop by Knander there. shoots it back the other way. Just great composure under lots of stress. That was a 2 minute and 1 second shift for Matthew. Nice. He gets off. Matthews comes on and instead of the little saucer pass across, it gets blocked by Monahan and right back to Knander and he makes Columbus pay. Another two points for Knander and now 31 on the year. It’s a 2-1 overtime win for the Leafs. Let’s head to Washington.

Joseph Woll put on a show in net, finishing with 30 saves and William Nylander fired home the OT-winner as the Toronto Maple Leafs rallied late to defeat the Columbus Blue Jackets 2-1.

  1. Another Overtime Win For The Maple Leafs After They Lost The Habs/Montreal Canadiens Last Game!!!! Better Performance From The Leafs!!!! Let’s Keep It Going!!!! Good Overtime And Good Game Columbus Blue Jacket Fans!!!!πŸπŸ»β€β„οΈπŸ€πŸ’πŸβœŒοΈ

  2. This game showed that goaltending was never the problem for the Leafs. It's always been the lackluster defense that left our keepers exposed and vulnerable. John Woll absolutely bailed the Leafs out tonight and they owe him a big dinner for this.

  3. Already in last place in Eastern Conference, so what's the point of winning now?

Even so, LEAFS' starting goalie is essentially playing 120 minutes across every game.

Once Stolarz returns, it might be a good idea to rotate three goalies.

  4. Wow I think the Leafs defence gets beat 9 out of 10 times if the opposition forwards were wearing work boots. Just paint the D orange then their pylon impersonation will be complete.

  5. The stripes protect them so much, it is the only reason the Leafs ever win. Soft calls always in their favor and clear infractions completely ignored. The Zebras will make sure the Leafs limp into the playoffs.
